Transition Networks' 100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX Media Converter is available in both stand-alone and slide-in-module form factors; making cost-effective integration of twisted pair and fiber optics in Fast Ethernet networks easier than ever before.The Media Converter operates under heavy traffic loads without excess heat so there is no need for a failure-prone internal fan. It automatically detects and reports loss of link on a connection using Link Pass Through. This feature allows the equipment at the remote end of a link failure to "see" this failure and respond with corrective actions, such as Spanning Tree fail-over links, proprietary trunking links, or failure reports through SNMP or RMON procedures built into the switch, router or hub. The Media Converter also automatically detects faults in a link using Far End Fault. This feature of the Fast Ethernet Fiber standard allows you to troubleshoot a fault, even if it is only in one direction; alerting the device on the same side as the failure. The converter will automatically re-establish link when connected to two 10/100 auto-negotiating switches if link is lost. With other manufacturers' converters the user must intervene to re-establish link. Pause is a component of Auto-negotiation and because auto-negotiation is not supported over a fiber link, switches cannot utilize this flow control feature without Transition Networks' converters. Enabling the Pause feature on the converters between two switches allows users to take advantage of this flow control feature on their equipment.

I bought this monitor About a year ago as a replacemnt to a 15"
older monitor. I fell in love the second the perfectly flat screen came alive with beutiful bright colors, the image filled the entire screen. it works very nice with linux. after a while i got used to how nice this has made my daily viewing experience.
I just purchased a 19" viewsonic A90F, and I felt diapointed.
the screen does not feel flat, and I have geometry problems, the outer edge is black(not a full creen). Im sending it back and going back to NEC for a flat 19" (or other brand).

I have owned all of 3 monitors in my life, an Everdata 14ý, a TVM 15ý flat screen and finally the NEC FE700+, which won out over two Sonys, a 19 NEC and a 19ý Samsung. What impressed me most about this monitor was the richness of color-while the other monitors around it seemed faded, the NEC was hands down the superior screen. When I got it home I had all but forgotten about the other monitors. Itýs also big enough that I could increase the resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768, and still be able to read text on the screen, something I had trouble doing on my TVM 15ý.

This monitor is a dream. Setup time was les than a minute, and Windows detected it for what it was, and not a generic monitor. It is perfect for what I use it for-word processing, games, and a little graphics work in PhotoShop. Itýs superb color coupled with NECýs high quality construction and reputation make this display not only good value, but a good investment. Sure there are ýbiggerý monitors, but how good are they? I have seen several people with the Samsung 950p and I believe the NEC FE700+ gives a superior image quality and is only 2ý small in screen size. And hey, itýs Macintosh compatible, which means you can do away with those silly and cheap looking clear plastic boxes. I highly recommend this monitor.

This is the best monitor that I have ever used. Images are very crisp and colorful. It also has a brighter display than others. I would recommend the FE700 to anyone who is looking for a new monitor.

When i started looking around for a monitor, i did the usual bit...look through reviews....read magazine articles...search monitor related sites...the works. What i did notice however was the repeated mention of the high quality picture that the NEC fe700 offered. Having bought the monitor I found out for myself that it was indeed a great display....The colors are excellent and the res is very sharp.. I would definately recommend it to anyone looking around for a FST monitor for a great price
