Two Radios Included / 22 - Channels with Scan & Monitor / Roger Beep / Headset Jack Rated up to 10 miles / Compact Size / AA Battery Strength Meter
Amazon.com Product Description
With the Uniden 22-Channel 10-Mile 2-Way Radio you can stay connected with your buddies while on the trail, at the baseball game, or anywhere else within a 10-mile range. This lightweight, palm-sized radio is also ideal as a neighborhood watch tool and kid-sitting aid. Each state-of-the-art radio features 22 channels (15 GMRS, 7 FRS) that are easy to scan and monitor. The channel scan/monitor allows you to listen for weak signals on the current channel with the press of a button. Plus, with the large number of channels, you have several communication options that ensure you can almost always talk with friends or family via an exclusive, uninterrupted signal. The channels are easy to find, thanks to the channel scan feature, which browses for active channels while you watch the display. To transmit on a GMRS or FRS channel, a user merely presses the PTT button while the scan is paused.
Additional features include a battery strength meter that monitors the status of the batteries so you can always stay in touch. The key lock prevents your settings from being accidentally changed, and the key beep gives an audio confirmation as you press each button. The radios also uses an automatic "roger beep" tone to confirm to other users that you're done speaking, and the call tone lets you alert listeners that you have something to say. Each radio is powered by three AAA batteries. This two-pack unit comes with the manufacturer's one-year limited warranty.
Customer Reviews:
Beware!.......2007-09-06
I purchased these radios to use while fishing the banks with a friend. They worked fine the first 4 or 5 times I used them but then one started beeping every 3 seconds and would not transmit, even with new batteries. I contacted Uniden and they advised me that the unit was defective and it would have to be returned for repair. It would have cost me more to have it shipped and repaired than I paid for them. I was a month out of warranty so that was that. I will not buy Uniden anymore. You get what you pay for......spend a litle extra and get more quality.
Batteries Should last longer than a few days..........2007-05-13
I like this product a lot, it's small, the clarity is great, however, the batteries have been replaced twice and I've only had them for 1 month.

Another great attribute of the GMR1038-2 radios is hands-free operation -- a user selectable Voice Operated Transmitter (VOX) that can be used for automatic voice transmission. Transmission begins when you speak into the optional remote headset for snappy, hands-free communication that is both safe and efficient. The large number of channels and privacy codes give you several communication options that ensure you can almost always talk with your friends and family via an exclusive, uninterrupted signal. Plus, the channels are easy to find, thanks to the channel scan feature, which browses to active channels while you watch the display. And the channel monitor function listens for weak signals on a given channel with the press of a key.
Additional features include a backlit LCD display that's easy to read under any lighting conditions, a keypad lock that prevents your settings from being accidentally changed, and a choice of five different call tones that offer distinctive ring options to easily identify who's calling. The radios are also equipped with a battery strength meter that monitors the status of the batteries so you can always stay in touch, a key beep audio confirmation of each button you press, and a "roger beep" tone to confirm to other users that you're done speaking. These radios are equipped with dual-location charging units that make it easy to keep your radios charged and ready to go. The radios can also be powered by four AAA alkaline batteries or an AC adapter (not included).
Customer Reviews:
Extremely poor battery life .......2007-04-29
When they work, they work ok. The problem is, they don't work for very long. These radios will go dead on a freshly charged set of 900ma NiMH batteries in 5-10 minutes, and that is with less than a minute of talk time. The funny thing is, these (brand spankin' new) batteries are still going strong at +1.25 volts each under load even after the radio complains that they are dead. Note that a AAA NiMH battery is rated at 1.2 volts and when it reads 1.25 volts under load it is definitely charged!
Uniden has been advertising factory refurb 1038's on their web site for a couple months now and I'll bet they have quite a stockpile of them. Based on the set I received, it would appear that they didn't do much to fix the design flaws. Battery life seems to be a common complaint across their entire FRS radio lineup and these are exceptionally bad.
After calling customer service, Uniden did promise to replace my radios several weeks ago but never followed through--not a happy camper here.
I own a couple of Uniden scanners and they are fantastic, it's too bad this company cannot manufacture a decent set of FRS/GMRS radios.
Invest in rechargeable batteries.......2007-04-24
They work OK- you won't get anywhere near 10 miles in range though. They drain batteries quick, so have a couple sets of charged up rechargeable batteries handy.
No battery charger!.......2007-03-27
I don't want to rate this product, since I haven't used it. I had to, though... I just wanted to share with everybody that this product still does not come with a charger. I received them, left them unopened upon not seeing a charger, called customer service (they didn't do anything about the posting), and sent them back. A waste of time and effort and extra hassle and waiting to get the money back. Do not get mislead by pictures or descriptions.
not pleased.......2007-02-06
The battery packs in these walkie talkies last for about an hour only- I am very disappointed in the quality. We need them for emergencies throughout the day- this is a farmed animal sanctuary- non-profit and we cannot afford to purchase new batteries after paying for these already. I am willing to change my review if we get new batteries. They came on time- they are good quality- other than the batteries
Poor range for me........2007-01-25
Does not compare with Motorola. The range was poor. Interestingly, when I pressed the call button, that was transmitted but the recipient couldn't pick up my voice and vice versa. If they work for you, then you have a good deal. But not for me.

Customer Reviews:
They do the job.......2007-08-15
I got the $25 and free shipping offer, for this price they have no match...
well, they do work.......2007-08-05
Bought this pair to go with another set of earlier models we have.
What a waste of time and money. Uniden should be ashamed of themselves!
Oh, they work just fine, but the rechargable battery life is ABISMAL!(sp?)
After less than four hours of hanging on my belt, with all of ten minutes of transmit time, the "low battery" warning beep goes off, and the battery gauge shows "all gone"!.
The older set we use will last thru a ten hour shift, no problemo!
Ah well, live and learn eh?
don't try on cruise.......2007-06-25
we got 2 sets of these at ubermart and tried them out first. they didn't make it past 2 miles in an area by a lake with little residential.
it is good at this price........2007-06-02
i bought this product for short distance communication. it is said it could work up to 10 miles, however, in my area it can reach out less than 1 mile. partially, it may be due to my area is hilly.
two-ways for a trip.......2007-05-13
The radios are wonderful. They work just as described. We use them from vehicle to vehicle on our way and person to person while in place. They're great.

Amazon.com Review
HP's Photosmart 720 digital camera offers high 3.3-megapixel resolution and 3x optical zoom in a compact frame. It doesn't quite slip into a pocket, but as it weighs only a little over half a pound, it's easily portable.
A simple layout of well-labeled buttons makes the camera easy to operate for the beginning user. The 1.6-inch LCD can be quickly turned on and off, saving on battery life.
The HP 720 is powered by four AA batteries (included), but they will soon need to be replaced. Consider the optional HP dock (the 720 ships with an adapter for the dock), which includes four rechargeable batteries, and every time you dock the camera to transfer photos, the batteries recharge.
We were pleased with the 720's image quality--pictures appeared detailed and sharp. The camera can also capture 30-second video clips--complete with audio--at 20 frames per second and at 320 by 240 resolution. One minor annoyance: the lens was loud and slow as we zoomed in and out during shooting.
With 16 MB of internal memory, the 720 can house 17 high-quality shots. There's a Secure Digital memory slot for expanding the storage capability, always a useful upgrade.
The affordable HP Photosmart 720 makes a great camera for users wanting to break into the digital-image world, and features enough performance to make the trip worthwhile, yet without so many bells and whistles as to make digital photography frustrating. --J. Curtis
Pros:
- Easy to use
- Light and fairly compact
- High image quality
Cons:
- Noisy zoom lens
- Useful dock costs extra

Customer Reviews:
It is not a good camera.......2007-03-19
It is a SIMPEL camera. There is many good cameras at same price, and very good performance than it.It resolve you camera problems, if you want a easy camera.but it is not good.
Good product.......2004-09-28
I bought this camera in May 2004 and it seemed an excellent deal at the time (250 dollars). It takes good photos and it's sturdy. I am now upgrading to one of those credit-card size cameras with 4 MP but my brother is buying the HP from me.
There are only a few cons:
-The size and weight. I want a camera that I can fit into my pockets or into the sort of tiny purse you take to parties/weddings, etc.
-Only 16 MB internal memory. I bought a Kingston SD 128 MB card (around 25 dollars) and that was enough for me.
-Pictures tend to come out blurred when using the focus, unless you place them on a solid surface, which is impossible to do most of the times.
-The flash was too strong... eyes wouldn't come out red, but closed!! Seriously, all of the people I took pictures of complained about the intensity of the flash.
The pros:
-Very good pictures.
-Easy to use buttons. I didn't have to read the instructions, the interface was very intuitive.
-Sturdy, butterfingers-proof.
-Good prize.
I have read other reviews where it is advised that you need the docking station... well if you have a computer with USB ports, you don't. It's as easy as plugging the camera to the computer and the files will start uploading inmediately (with the software provided in the CD). And about the battery life... it's funny, but it seemed to get better with time. The camera comes with rechargeable batteries, and I used both those and good alkaline AA batteries for backup. It carries 4 of them, but unless you record many videos, they'll last enough.
Unsatisfied.......2004-07-22
I was really unsatisfied with this camera- beware- if you buy this camera you will need to buy the docking station and a camera card- both of which DO NOT come with it. You will need these items to use this camera often. This camera is not the best of what is out there but it gets you by. Wish I waited to buy something else- most other digital cameras are smaller now, come with more and hold more pictures.
Disappointed with this model.......2004-04-28
I too picked this model on the positive reviews. I bought it in May of 2003 along with an HP photo printer. In August 2003, a few days before my vacation, it just stopped working. HP tech support was excellent got another right out to me. Now April 2004, it did it again. It worked one day, batteries went dead, I charged them and can't get it to turn on again. Tech support was great another one is coming. However, my 1 year warranty is up in May and I am on my 3rd camera! They will give me 90 days on the 3rd one and that is it. I am going to have to buy their extended warranty program through HP because I fear in 3-6 months, it won't work again. I expressed my concern and I wanted to upgrade to a newer model and pay the difference. They don't have anything to offer for this one. Something is wrong with this series. On the other hand, the printer has been great.
Sturdy Performer.......2003-10-17
I bought this camera for a two-week hike in very remote country; the selling points for me were the relatively ruggedly designed exterior and the ability to turn off the LCD screen to save battery life. I would have liked the ability to turn the camera on without having the HP logo displayed on the LCD (and the little tone chiming). Especially at night in the woods, the LCD screen is bright enough to be distracting, and since I was aiming my shots through the viewfinder, I didn't need it activated. Even with that minor complaint, this camera gets five stars; it held up like a champ despite being rattled around for two weeks, took terrific pictures (a mini-tripod *really* helped), and it didn't eat too many batteries. Plus my PDA uses SD cards for storage, so I can swap among my devices as needed. I'd strongly recommend it.
