Useless.......2007-06-30

I owned this camera for maybe a year before the battery compartment cover broke.After that I used a piece of electrical tape to secure the compartment since it wouldn't stay shut and kept dropping the batteries out from the bottom.After about another year and a half,the whole camera became useless.Everytime I go to take a picture,it shows nothing but black on the display.I have tried changing every setting I possibly could and went to the Kodak troubleshooting info. on their site and it told me there was nothing else I could do but send it in for repair.For a 2 Mega pixel camera with 2x zoom it's not even worth paying for the repair because nowadays you can get much more for less money.It's now useless.I'm very disappointed and won't buy a Kodak camera again.

Reliable but aging.......2007-01-29

I've had this camera for 4 years now and its definately showing its age. Many cell phone cameras on the market now have a higher resolution than this thing. But for a simple point and shoot camera it does its job pretty well if you don't plan on printing anything larger than a 4x6 or cropping at all.
The build quality is pretty good... I've dropped this thing numerous times, and while the plastic casing has cracked because of the fall the interior still funtions like it's new. Listen to other reviewers when they say this thing eats batteries. The most I can take with newly recharged batteries is probably about 30 pictures without flash. Another con is that it takes very poor pictures in low light. The picture becomes pretty grainy.
This was a good buy at $99 in 2003, but is probably barely worth half that now.

I have a feedback of almost 1000. I bought this camera for the main purpose of ebay way back in 2000 or 2001 and have used it every single day since until this very moment. 2 MP is perfect for those listings on ebay. Absolutely NO problems with this camera at all !

There is definitly a 1 second delay between pressing the capture button and the shutter actually "catching" the picture which makes taking pictures of fast motion real bad.

Very easy to use with good quality photos.......2005-12-21

I really like this camera. Although it is only 2MP, I find the photos are excellent quality and still print out on a photo printer as clear and good as a normal photo. It is also very easy to use, very much a point and click camera. The menus on the camera are easy to find and adjust anything if you need to. That is takes short videos is great too, this feature has saved me from spending hundreds on a video camera then having to lug that and this one around. The docking station is by far my favourite feature though -just plonk it on the cradle, press a button and all the photos download -easy!

This is highly recommended, I don't see any point spending more when you get this excellent camera for such a good price.

This camera has served me well since January 2003 when I first bought it. Since then I have taken over 7,000 pictures and I am so glad it's still going. I plan on getting a new camera, but only because technology is improving so rapidly. This camera has been wonderful and survived many drops, hits, stratches and throws. Kodak is a great company and helped me whenever I needed it, including sending new battery doors to replace the ones I've broken when dropping the camera 4+ feet. Great model, great company, great memories. Thank you.

This camera is way overpriced for the crappy pictures it takes. Even the close up pictures look out of focus and forget about any distance shots. Go to HP and buy the M425...You can get 5MP for a third of what his piece of excrement costs. I don't recommend Kodak to anyone because all you are paying for is the name.

very average camera.......2005-07-07

I bought this camera 3 years back and its a plain simple point and shoot camera with a fixed lens and you cant adjust anything. It has no optical zoom, no video recording, etc. but thats what you pay for. Picture wise the camera shoots beautifully and the colours come out really nice and natural. Its flash is pretty bad with flash shots coming out dark. I have taken decent 6x4 prints even with the lower resolution. The power on/off switch is really horrible and flimsy. It broke after few months of use and I had to get it repaired. After that my computer never recognises the camera and I have to use a card reader to transfer photos.

I wouldnt recommend this camera even to a first timer even though its very very simple to use. Its just too flimsy and featureless.

Not Satisfied.......2004-06-12

At the moment i am very tired, having spent 6 hours trying to update the software to the new Easy share. I have had nothing but trouble since updating to Easy share. I owned a Dx3500 and then a DX3600, which I was satisfied with until I upgraded the PC to Windows XP. Now I have the latest Kodak LS753, and the software CD included will not install and even when i down load from the net I get a message saying that there is an error. I have checked for virus, turned off all programs etc. and still no luck. I have never had such problems and I will be certainly returning to the shop with the camera and exchanging it, and I will be letting everyone know the problems. I feel so angry that I have wasted so much time.

Kodak camera.......2003-12-31

I bought the Kodak camera and the dock for my wife for Christmas two years ago. It is easy to operate and to load the pics into the camera, but as other reviewers have stated it uses a lot of power. The docking system seems to help to keep the batteries charged. A minor annoyance is that sometimes the shutter does not open when I turn on the camera. I give it a few good whacks with my hand and it will open. Not high tech, but it works. My friend's camera did the same thing and Kodak, with some prodding, fixed it for a modest fee. My wife uses it for work and in general it is a rugged camera. I may upgrade in the future, but for now I will keep it.

You Get What You Pay For.......2003-12-08

Pros: Cheap price, durable (I have dropped it often, and it still works fine), 2 megapixels
Cons: All pictures look unfocused, batteries get eaten up quickly (try 20 minutes), only digital zoom which is horrible
I recommend the Canon A60, or if your willing to step up to 3 megapixels, get the Canon A70, which is the best camera for your money.

A disappointing external storage solution........2007-08-27

I actually purchased two of these drives at the same time, a 500GB model and the 1TB Model.

Withing less than one years time, both models began experiencing what is known as the dreaded click of death and failed with a complete loss of all data.

With all of the reviews I have read here thus far, I thought I should be a responsible consumer and post my review as a warning to anyone thinking about purchasing a LaCie drive now or in the future.

Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere, the LaCie drives are not a reliable external storage solution.

If you want to protect your data, do not put it on a LaCie. You have been warned.

A wonderful and stylish hard drive.......2007-08-06

Works flawlessly with my Macbook Pro. Extremely fast with Firewire 800, elegant, and comes with a nice stand to keep it out of the way and natural-looking. Durable and built to last, not cheap and crappy. Overall an excellent buy for the amount of storage you're getting. Very highly recommended.

Problems here too (and how I got my data back).......2006-10-28

Just to say that I've had similar problems to others, and I really, really wish I hadn't broken my habit of checking reviews here and elsewhere before buying; I relied on a couple of magazine reviews. (I'm a journalist, so I shouldn't have).

My problems were with drive recognition. It sets up ok, it looks ok, it's nice and quiet. And then it vanished from the PC. Trying to fix it, I got the old Windows messages basically telling me that the partition had failed. I've seen this problem occur to other people's discs, and my solution has always been not to reformat, but to read them through an OS X Mac. No fixing to be done, OS X seems to repair the partition and Windows XP then picks it up again. Not this time.

Before people write off their data as lost: eventually, I was able to get the drive back by rebooting the Powerbook a few times (tinkering in Disk Utility didn't help). It vanished again a week or two later. I was able to get it back by rebooting the PC a few times. This has all happened several times. (Rebooting a machine a lot is bad for hard disks, by the way...) Sometimes it vanishes after rebooting Windows (the PC is usually always on).

This product contains 2 hard drives (mine has two Western Digital 250 GBs, an excellent make). It's the Raid array, or the connectors, or something, that seem to cause the trouble. it's also worth noting that the slight chances of physical hard drive failure are doubled with a device containing two Raid-ed drives; we only need one to start failing. Usually when a disk clicks, you can get the data off before failre (BTW taking the disks out to read them seperately would, I guess, damage the data.)

It's worth remembering that, no matter how good it is, any drive will fail. It's a question of luck (a small percentage will fail when quite new) and time. One should never have just the one copy of important data. That's why I haven't suffered as others have (I did my suffering years ago...)

I agree entirely - with a 250 GB, a 300 GB or whatever, there's no Raid, and presumably a different hardware setup. Googling around, though, these problems seem to happen to Lacie products more often than to others.

I've given up on mine. I've bought an excellent 300 GB Maxtor (because I needed something now) and ordered two silent external cases for the two 250 GB disks, which I've removed from the case as I'm not at all confident of obtaining a refund. I won't need both, so will have to attempt to sell one. I will probably junk the case. Which is all expensive, and wasteful, and inconvenient. No more Lacie for me - I'd want the company taken over before I considered them again.

A high-quality drive, working well on Macintosh OS X systems.......2006-10-22

I bought a 250Gb version, found it worked well, is fast, and is a very well made case. Then got two of the 500Gb Extremes. My only complaint is the power button: That round, blue light is too easy to touch mistakenly, is a soft-touch switch, and can damage the drive if hit inadvertently. I believe lawyers call this an 'attractive nuisance' and it was for me. So, DON'T TOUCH THE BLUE LIGHT! Otherwise, their service was quick. Described the problem on the phone, got an email RMA, and received a post-paid replacement within a week or so. Clearly, it might not be suited for Windows machines, but who'd buy one of those anyway??? ';-)

works great with MAC.......2006-10-15

I've got a powerbook G4 and a two year old Lacie 250GB porsche design USB 2, a year old Lacie d2 250GB triple interface and just bought my week old lacie d2 500GB. Never the other two have let me down and so hasn't this one although it's just a week old. I think it works great with apple and it beats the price for any maxtor.

A Great Scanner That Does A Lot Of Things.......2003-05-18

I love this scanner! I got it over a year ago and it is still working strong. I got it for the ADF feature. I use the ADF with Acrobat Writer. Very rarely does the ADF jam and when it does its due mostly to user error. When it does jam it does not eat the paper and itýs easy to correct. The software that comes with it is simple to use. Make sure your computer has loads of memory if you plan on scanning anything over 600dpi. Iýve also used this to archive photos taken on the job and it does a great job at that. I donýt suggest buying this scanner if your main requirement is film or slides. For that you should get a dedicated machine. Iýve used with USB and SCSI. SCSI is faster but usually I donýt notice the difference unless Iým scanning over 600 dpi. The only bad thing I can say about this machine is that it can be noise. Good luck.

When using the automatic document feeder, it produces document scans that are skewed slightly. HP technical support says this is normal. I find this completely unsatisfactory. You will not be able to produce accurate document scans.

Do not purchase this scanner if you intend to scan photographs. The scan quality if very poor. Scans appear with no contrast and overly pixelated in dark areas of photo scans. The colors do not appear correct.

The performance is also unsatisfactory. It is very slow and extremely noisy.
