Amazon.com Product Description
Kodak's EasyShare Printer Dock 6000 is the easiest way to create Kodak-quality photos with your EasyShare camera. Simply dock your camera, press print, and you'll have a 4 x 6-inch photo with the brilliance and durability you expect from Kodak. You can even hook up the Printer Dock 6000 to your TV for easy slide show viewing. Just like the convenient EasyShare camera dock, the Printer Dock 6000 transfers pictures to your PC in just one touch and charges your Kodak camera's battery.
The Printer Dock 6000 is compatible with Windows PCs and Macs, but a computer is not required. It's compact enough to take anywhere, so you don't have to wait until you're back home to start printing.
The Printer Dock 6000 uses Kodak color cartridges and photo paper (with Kodak XtraLife laminate coating) to produce prints that are highly durable, waterproof, and tear resistant to last a lifetime. The quantity of paper exactly matches the quantity of archival dye with the EasyShare color cartridge and photo paper kit. It all works together so you'll always know how many more pictures you can print. And because the printer dock is based on Kodak's continuous tone thermal dye transfer process, you can count on getting stunning photos with vivid color.
This package contains the Printer Dock 6000, 10-piece sample photo paper kit, Kodak color cartridge, NiMH rechargeable battery pack for Kodak 6000 series digital cameras, AC adapter, Kodak printer driver software, and cleaning tool.

Great for printing high quality pics if you're not in a rush.......2004-11-05
I got this for my birthday from my boyfriend. I had already had gotten a Kodak easyshare camera from him so this was a great little gadget for me to own. I tried it out the first time months ago and it worked great. It printed out high-quality pictures. Even today, it is still working great and I couldn't believe how easy it was to print pictures from the computer. The only bad thing about it is that it takes a looong time to print. You'll be sitting watching the paper feed through at least 4 times before it completes printing. And buying the printer cartridge and paper can add up after a while.
Here's a tip: if you haven't used it in a while, make sure to get any dust off of the paper because some of it is still exposed to the air.
Cool little machine!.......2004-09-04
I wanted a digital camera, but I don't have a computer, nor do I plan on getting one any time soon. Also, I'm lazy, so taking my camera to a store to develope pictures seemed like alot of hassle. So, this little gadget has worked out pretty well for me so far.
I only have 2 bad things to say about it. The first one is about paper loading. Mine seems to not like a full tray of paper. If I load the tray full (but not too full) the printer tells me it's out of paper and to load more. It took a while of hand feeding the pages until I figured this out. To have it feed itself effetively, give it small bites (fill the tray to half).
The other negative thing about it is it may take 90 seconds to print out a picture....unless it's printing out 50-60 pictures (week long vacation). After about the 20th picture it gets a little warm and takes about 4-5 minutes a picture.
So you do the math....5 minutes a picture, 50 pictures, handfeeding the printer....took a couple days to get my pics.
Enjoying a "printing lab" in my room.......2004-06-08
Yesterday I purchased the Kodak printer dock 6000 to go along with my Kodak Cx6330 digital camera. So far I am very pleased. The first thing I noticed about this printer dock is the size. It's small enough to sit on my little desk with extra room. Secondly, it was a breeze to set up. It took, at most, 10 minutes. Make sure you have you custom insert handy in case the universal insert is not to your liking.
The price for this printer dock is great. Having a "printing lab" in your room for under $150? That's pretty cool. Luckily, I received a 256 MB MC with this purchase free (about a $100 value). This printer comes with a sample pack of 10 4 x 6's. It has a sample printer cartridge. It's definitely a sample. It printed out about 10 photos before telling me I need to replace the cartridge. That being said, I recommend buying a set of 4 X 6's and color cartridge.
Speaking of which, this printer dock only prints 4 X 6 photographs. Not a problem for me, but may be for others. The Kodak printer dock 6000 prints beautiful photographs quickly. First it prints the yellows, then reds, and finally, the blues. The photo quality is superb.
Using this printer dock with my computer is a great option. I am able to print off photographs stored on my computer or edit all photographs before printing. I am not sure if this can be done without the computer, but I can also center the photographs. This way I do not lose any of the photograph while removing the perforated edges. This may not matter to some, but to me it is a very important aspect in making the images look their best.
I do not see any reason to not rate the Kodak Printer Dock 6000 less than 5 stars. If there is, I will edit my review. :)
Great Quality.......2004-06-01
I love the quality of the pictures I get with the 6000. I have the DX6340 camera as well and the two of them together are the best electronic purchases I have ever made. The camera is a snap to use, and combine that with this great printer and you've got a match made in heaven. We'd take forever to get a roll of film to the store and then to pick it up would be months and months. By the time we'd get the pictures back, they'd be a year old! Having a printer at home that prints store developed quality pictures is priceless. Plus, I don't have to pay to have a whole roll of film developed, when I really only needed 3 or 4 of the pictures printed to begin with. Very easy to use (set up was 5 minutes), and a snap to clean and change the paper.
Cheaper printing carts.......2004-05-11
The 40-pack w/ink is $18.99 at Costco, which is about the cheapest I've found it--this comes to about 50 cents a print with sales tax. This is 20 cents more per print than taking your picture card into the store for finishing, so as other reviewers have said, you need to weigh the convenience factor. As for the price of entry, don't be afraid to save $30-$50 by buying a refurbished model--you get the same 1-year warranty. Plus keep in mind that the printer includes a 10-pack cartridge (about a $5 value) and an extra camera battery (a $20 value), so the price of entry may not be as high as you think. (A refurb unit goes for aroud $120, which makes it less than $100 after you consider the extras.)
There's another benefit if your Kodak easy share camera didn't come with a recharging dock; if it did, you can probably sell it on eBay for $30 or so. One nice thing about having the camera docked for recharging is that you always know where it is. I have a DX6490 and have yet to have to resort to swapping batteries in a day's use.
Also be aware that a new model is coming out in June that offers a couple extra, though for most of us minor features (check www.kodak.com for details); this will likely drive prices on the current version even lower.

A GREAT BONUS KIT!.......2005-06-19
This special kit was a bonus set and I have one. I highly recommend it. It is very easy to use, and we have received many compliments on the quality of the pictures! It also takes sepia or black and white photos as well! It comes with a printer dock and you don't even need a computer for it to print the pictures. This is a wonderful set and I recommend it--plus her price is right. I paid a lot more than that somewhere else!

LaCie Dual-Layer.......2005-09-17
This product works as advertised and I have no complaints there. The quality if the cabinet is rather shoddy though. But it works better than the one it replaced!
excellent alternative to lame G4 internal drive.......2005-09-08
I got this drive because the "superdrive" that came with my dual processor G4 couldn't handle any of the installation DVDs for the new software I was getting. This worked beautifully immediately. I now use it for anything other than CDs and CD ROMs--the Mac drive just doesn't handle anything on DVDs a tenth as well, if at all.
Great but CAUTION MAC USERS.......2005-08-25
This product is super, but there is absolutely no external DVD product that will play region one encoded movies on a mac (legally). Windows systems will play commercial movies and read data and burn unencoded blank dvds. Mac systems just burn on blank dvds and read dvds.
I do not know why the problem exists, but mac users who want to WATCH dvd commercially enoded movies instead of just access and burn data need to get a combo or super drive installed.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent product for the price.......2005-05-18
I bought this external dvd burner for my old laptop (year 2000 model with 512 MB memory) about one month back and I had no problem so far. I have burned around 75 DVDs (16x, 8x), 10 CDs. Because my laptop is an old one it took around 1 hour to burn each 8x DVD, but when I borrowed my friends laptop (which is year 2004 model with 256 MB memory) each 8x DVD was burned in about 5 minutes. Amazing difference a new laptop made.
Pros: This burner works so qietly, I am really impressed. Easily plugged in, no errors or issues so far.
Cons: No documentation or manual comes with the product whatsoever. I had to rely on their website (www.lacie.com) for some information.
it's OK but not in vertical positon as picture above.......2005-03-18
Mine works fine with 8x discs and Nero Ultra 6. Amazon has the wrong picture and actual Model 300776U cannot be used in vertical position for space saving. There is no stand either. You can put it on the PC horizontally if it's for PC. I sometimes used with my Compaq notebook. It's cool and quiet. Other than the positon, it's fine with single layered DVD+R/-Rs for 3 months now. I don't give 5 stars because I haven't tried with Double layered discs yet as well as tech support... who knows? ... you may need it one day... So far, this is much better than Plextor EXTERNAL PX-708UF with extremely slow speed and poor tech support.
Burnt out my USB hub.......2005-02-01
On paper the product looked great. And the box is small and sleek. But when my drive arrived and I followed the directions and plugged it into my USB hub I got complaints from my usb bus along the lines of 'voltage overload'. And I smelt a burning plastic. It never worked, and I think my hub and one of the ports on my USB card are now burnt out. I was not impressed.
Excellent for the price!!!.......2005-01-22
I'm happy with it!!. You can make back up on DVDs and is external excellent for people like me with a labtop. I have a 1Gb memory in my camara and every time that I copy all my pictures to the 60Gb disk of my labtop I have less space. I bought it because I was without space on my hardisk. With tradicional CDs to backup 40Gb you needs around 60 CDs but with DVDs you can do it with less than 10 (and if you use doble layer you can use the half)
Hope it works better soon..........2005-01-21
Just received the writer ! ! but immediately had problems with it specially when trying to copy from DVD to DVD, Popcorn stops, have to uninstall and reinstall popcorn to make it work again, still waiting for the response from Lacie's support.

Kenwood VRSN8100 Fineline Networked Audio/Video Receiver is a home-theater receiver that's future-friendly because it's engineered to work with a PC as a valid source of home entertainment. Indeed, as large-screen TV and HDTV sets begin to penetrate the market, they will offer greater capabilities as a computer monitor as well. The VRSN8100 is designed to allow computer music and video to be played through your home-theater system. The receiver lets you interface with your PC via a Wi-Fi® or wired Ethernet network. Navigation screens displayed on your TV make it easy to browse the contents of your hard drive and select audio, video, or still picture files to stream to your home theater system's speakers and TV. There's also a front-panel PC card slot that lets you display photos stored on your digital camera's memory card (adapter not included). In addition, there are 2 front-panel A/V inputs, one of which is dedicated exclusively to gaming systems (it includes an optical digital input for Dolby Digital surround sound when used with compatible gaming systems). As with other receivers, there's an integrated AM/FM radio. What takes it beyond "future-friendly" is that it's ready for you now! Get the most out of your home-theater system. The digital age has brought new forms of entertainment to your computer screen, but it certainly has not overshadowed the surround sound home theater experience. The Kenwood VRS-N8100 Audio/Video Control Center with Network Function seamlessly merges your entertainment system with your home computer. The rear-panel Ethernet connector lets you stream audio and video files from your computer to your home theater system. With the VRS-N8100, your entire family can enjoy the multimedia digital files stored on your computer through the sound quality of your home entertainment system.
The VRS-N8100 Control Center channels gaming, music, movies, and online digital multimedia files through your home theater system. View larger. |
Kenwood has thought of all the possibilities with this control center. Plug a game console into the front-panel game audio/video input (complete with a digital audio connection) and the VRS-N8100 will detect when you turn on the game console, and automatically select that input and the proper surround sound processing. The Single Zone Dual Source function lets you listen to your game's sound through headphones, while the rest of the family can enjoy music through speakers. Plus, this function features Dolby headphone processing that creates a totally out-of-the-box 5.1-channel surround sound effect through any pair of ordinary stereo headphones, so you won't have to sacrifice sound quality to play your favorite games. And the included universal pre-programmed remote control is ready to go with Xbox and PlayStation2 codes. With the Kenwood Control Center, your family can quit fighting over the home theater, and everyone can enjoy the system at the same time.
Loaded with inputs and outputs, this control center accepts a wide array of components. View larger. |
Of course, the control center is also a great general receiver with plenty of inputs for a wide array of components. When you watch movies, the VRS-N8100 puts you right in the middle of the action with Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES 96/24 surround sound, and Dolby Pro Logic IIx transforms ordinary two-channel stereo music sources -- CDs, cassette tapes, and radio -- into a 6.1-channel surround sound experience. The PurePath digital power amplifier delivers 130 watts to each of six channels, so your games, movies, and music will really rock the house. And with the ADI SHARC 32-bit DSP processor, high-resolution digital volume control, and rigid chassis construction rounding out the VRS-N8100's features, you can rest assured that this control center will deliver accurate performance at all signal levels.

Cannot Detect Server!!.......2007-07-06
I've owned this receiver now over a year. Overall, it's been pretty good with the exception of the network function, which has never worked (cannot detect server). I've allowed it thru all firewalls and even connected a cat 5 cable straight from the cpu to the receiver( bypassing the router); same result! Kenwoods' online tech support takes forever to respond and insists it's a firewall issue. Also, the component assignment feature is difficult to set-up.
Defective right out of the box! TWO TIMES!!!.......2007-06-05
I ordered one of these receivers from Target. Had the same error as two other purchasers (straight into Standby mode after powering up) I returned it and ordered another (figured what was the likelihood it would happen again?) Guess what? The SECOND one was broken as well. All Kenwood's customer service department said was "take it to a certified Kenwood repair shop and they'll fix it." Well, I'm returning it and will NEVER buy Kenwood products again!!!
Defective out of the box, horrible customer service........2007-04-27
I have no idea how this product is supposed to perform. I purchased this unit against the recommendations of others, due to over 20 years experience with Kenwood products in my home, at work and in my car, but this was an unmitigated disaster. I accepted the limitations in connections (no HDMI, no upscaling, little flexibility) for the size and supposed features. I connected everything that needed to be connected, double checked all speaker connections to ensure no shorts, turned on the unit and it went into standby. After 3 hours of rechecking all connections, swapping out cables and resetting the unit, I still didnt get anything other than fault/stand by. I went so far as to disconnect everything, and the unit went into standby. I expressed my frustration to the Kenwood customer service people and they recommended I check my cables. When I mentioned that the unit faulted with nothing connected, they sent the address of a service center, 20 miles away and recommended I take it there for service. Not being an acceptable answer, I sent an email to Kenwood customer service, the response to which was the equivalent of "Who cares, send it back then." without any acknowledgement of the inconvenience or frustration of thinking I could get a quality product from a company I trusted for a long time. One would think the units are at least tested before leaving the factory, but apparently not. I returned the unit, went back to the recommendations of others and will be phasing out the rest of my Kenwood products simply for the reason of the uncaring customer service. If you get one that works, great, good for you, but why risk it? Better to buy a product that has all the connection flexibility you need for now and future use..stay away from this one unless you like frustration.
Lots of functionality for the price.......2006-12-28
I was looking for a receiver with decent performance (wattage, THD etc), but my main requirements were network functionality and Dolby headphone. It also has a suprisingly large number of Inputs for such a slim form-factor.
First, the network functionality: I hooked the receiver to my router and installed the provided server software in one of my PCs. The receiver detected it, and displayed photos (JPGs), a couple home videos that I encoded as DivX AVI a some WAV music files, all of which I dragged-and-dropped into the software. The receiver played them all without any glitch. The software could have been a bit more poweful. It converts the JPGs that I imported and resizes them which results in a much lossy compression. Also, when we run a slideshow of the photos in the TV, there doesn't seem to be a way for speeding it up or pausing it. Also, it does not have parental controls. Would be nice if some of the digital media could be password protected. I've been researching for a media center solution where I can keep all my digital media in a remote PC and play them on my entertainment center as needed. I'm really glad I bought this.
Dolby Headphone: The second important feature. Helps while watching movies without disturbing the kids while they are sleeping. You'll have to really hear the Dolby headphone to believe it. The difference between this and the stereo headphone is like day and night. You can plug any normal headphone into the front-panel headphone jack and the receiver encodes the signals into Dolby headphone and sends it out, providing a very spatial 5.1 effect with just a normal headphone!!!
It also has Dobly virtual speakers if you don't want to run the wires for the rear speakers....I haven't tested it though since I have a 5.1 setup. I paired this with Yamaha NS-SP1600 5.1 speaker system and am not disappointed at all.
And for $250, nothing can beat it.
Good receiver with inoperable add-ons........2006-12-15
Network option never worked. Could never see server.
Poor speaker conections.
Component video swithching is poor. Shows banding and breaks up in heavy action.
Receiver is very detailed though.

Does too work great with Macs!.......2003-03-23
Contrary to what another reviewer has said, this works fine with Mac OSX. The sotware that comes with the burner is for OS9 only, but, everything needed to use this drive is built in to OSX already. If you're running OS9, then just install the provided software, If you're running OSX, then just plug it in and go. To write data, just drag stuff to it in the finder, and then use the 'burn' menu item when you're ready. Use iTunes to make music CD's (standard, or MP3). To erase a CD-RW, use the Disk Utility application in the Applications/Utilities folder.
I give it 4 stars. Deducting 1 star for the noise level (only when burning), and the fact that the documentation doesn't tell you, and no one at Iomega knew, that you need to use Disk Utility to erase. If you're reading this, then that problem is solved.

Excellent Speed, Excellent Reliability, Iomega Name :-).......2002-12-02
When looking for a new CD-R(W) drive, I wanted FireWire compatibility, fast speeds, and something which would be reliable. From the Iomega name and experience with other Iomega products, I knew the reliability factor would not be an issue. As for the others, I was very pleasantly surprised when I came upon this model.
I specifically use MacOS 9.2, and have not had any trouble with this drive. I am a bit baffled, actually, by the other reviews posted here noting problems using this operating system and this CD-RW drive, as both have worked flawlessly for me in the two months I have used this drive (almost daily).
One of the big selling points (which was not actually a requirement for me) is that this can handle mini-CDs. Trying to inset a mini-CD into slot-loading CD/DVD drives (such as the default CD-RW drive on the iMac) will destroy the drive.
The fast speeds are great. I am able to burn data CDs, audio CDs, and VideoCDs is about 1/6 - 1/8 of the time required for the default CD-RW drive in the iMac. (Copying CDs, however, naturally defaults to the speed of the slowest drive.) The only drawback is that drive access is incredibly noisy, but this can be used to determine from the next room how the burning process is progressing.
I strongly recommend this drive in conjunction with Toast 5 Titanium for Macintosh users. Without being forced to reinstall Toast, the program instantly recognized the new Iomega CD-RW drive. Also, while Toast would have problems using inexpensive blank CD media with the default internal iMac CD-RW drive, Toast has yet to have problems with inexpensive media on the Iomega CD-RW drive.
Very fast, a little noisy, but very portable too........2002-10-10
... I saw that Iomega had done essentially the same thing and felt that given the good experience I have had from my trusty USB 1.1 workhorse I would plunk down for one of these.
INSTALLATION
Installation on my PC was a snap - Windows XP recognized it immediately without the need for any special drivers and I was away. It comes with MusicMatch jukebox and some burning software but I already have Musicmatch and I am a Ahead Nero (ASIN: B00005BGB2) user so did not install it. Nero recognized the unit right away and I was able to use it's buffer-underrun protection (not available with my previous burner) and offered me the chance of burning at 40x (6Mb/sec)!
BURNING A CD AT SIX MEGABYTES PER SECOND
I dropped the single 40x 700Mb CD-R that the drive came with in to the unit, and put a full 700Mb file on to the disk in just over 3 minutes! It was quite noisy once it was wound up to full speed - lots of furious whirring and whooshing - but nothing alarming; it simply is darn fast. I enabled the "verify data" option in Ahead Nero and this was an even speedier operation, as the drive reads at 48x. Six minutes later I had a perfect, verified CD-R; my previous burner took over half an hour to achieve this! Progress indeed.
CHEAP MEDIA
I was able to use some very inexpensive 32x media without problems too (burned at 32x too, of course) - my previous burners have often been fussy about the really bargain-basement CD-R's I've put in them sometimes, insisting on dropping down to 1x on occasion. Not so with this drive.
PHYSICALLY
Physically it is "full-size" for a burner. It is not very heavy and the plastic casing feels well constructed. I like the fact that it comes with a second firewire port in the back so I can daisy-chain items. It came with a single, rather short, firewire cable. There is also a port in the back for a headphone-style socket and it came with a cable to connect this to your sound card. This is in addition to the usual headphone socket on the front of the unit complete with volume control.
All an in I am very pleased - it's very fast, completely portable, fully compatible with my (pretty standard) PC set-up and easy to use. Recommended.
Not for Mac.......2002-09-27
Not good at all if you use a Mac. It didn't work with OS X 10.2. When I emailed Iomega tech support they said they don't support anything later than OS 9.1, and wern't too aplogetic about it. Too bad that OS went out of date almost 2 years ago. This might be a good drive, especially if it was still 1999, but it's 2002 and Iomega needs get with the game.
