Works great, supports jumbo frames.......2006-02-26

I'm a big fan of SMC products and this one is no exception. For a little bit more money than their competitors they give you a more solid, more capable product. In this case, it is support for jumbo frames that sets them apart. Jumbo frames are longer-than-normal data packets that really cut down on overhead and are really needed to take full advantage of Gigabit Ethernet. SMC supports them, but as far as I know Linksys, D-Link, Netgear, etc. do not.

In any case, this was easy plug-and-play on my Windows 2000 machine, and now it is happily serving files over the network almost as fast as it serves files on the local machine. Highly recommended.

Great card for the Money!.......2005-11-27

I remember purchasing this memory card by Lexar Media about 2 years ago when I purchased my Canon Powershot S230 Digital Camera (Which is s great camera at the time). Not only does this card work like a charm, but the speeds on it are excellent. I take pictures at the resolution of 2048x1536 resolution (Max on the Canon Powershot S230, which comes to around 700-900KB in size. The 12x Card saves the pictures in matter of nano seconds.

Another feature that makes the 12x card great is when you're flipping through the camera to see which pictures you've taken on your digital camera. Especially when it comes to the high resolution pictures, this could take a few seconds extra. The 12x Lexar Media makes it very simple and quick to scan these pictures. It could get a hassle when you have 100-200 of your favorite pictures and scanning through them, and worrying about each picture "loading".

It's also great when you're connected to a usb memory card reader. This is where it really shines. Lexar Media's 12x speed card transfers at a rate of 1.8MBps (150KB/sec x 12). When you're transferring images from your memory card to your PC, makes data transfers that much quicker. It take extra time when you have a slower card and transferring at 4x~8x speed. Obviously there are some faster cards out there these days that will transfer at 24x speeds. Even though this maybe an outdated card for most "High end camera" users, but to the others that are still looking for something that would be packable, and still affordable, Lexar Media 256MB 12X Compact Card Flash is great!!

i got this card for my nikon coolpix 4500. havent had any problem at all. it works just fine with my camera. it gave me huge amount of pics at 1028 X 768. keep a watch for prices they go up and down. look for the best deal and amazon gave a good deal to me. the 12X speed is faster than the 4 X i had. u can see the difference and lexar is a good brand.

Great flash card, great company!.......2005-02-08

Not only is this a great flash card, the company is great to deal with. On our recent vacation, I accidently deleted all our pictures. I thought they were lost! A friend suggested we try to find someone to try and recover the lost pictures. After several inquires I was directed to send the disk back to the manufacturer with a description of what happened. I called a service rep at Lexar and he said if I sent it to them they would give it a try. To my surprise, they were able to recover the lost pictures and returned my flashcard at no cost. Thanks again to Lexar, you've earned a loyal customer.
