Amazon.com Review
Hewlett Packard's 560 line of Jornada PDAs includes the 32 MB Jornada 565 and our 64 MB 568, members for the first batch of Pocket PCs to ship with Microsoft's new Pocket PC 2002 operating system.
On the surface, the Pocket PC 2002 OS looks much the same as the old OS. But there are a variety of enhancements to the stable of applications (like Word and Excel), new software such as MSN Messenger, added security and antivirus protection, and improved handwriting recognition.
The Jornada 568 features a CompactFlash Type 1 slot, so you can add more CF memory as well as hook up CF peripherals, such as modems or network cards. You'll probably want to expand on the memory front--64 MB is decent for a Pocket PC, but you always want more to play back any video or audio files. And CompactFlash memory prices have plummeted in recent months, making it an affordable upgrade.
The well-designed Jornada 568 sits nicely in hand, with a sturdy flip-up cover adding little to the overall weight (6.1 ounces without the cover and 7.0 with). The bright, 16-bit color TFT screen can be easily read from even sharp angles. While the 240 x 320 pixel, 3.5-inch diagonal screen isn't as large as some, it's big enough to keep you from squinting, even while reading books with Microsoft Reader.
Hooking the Jornada 568 up to your PC is handled either through the USB cradle (with a pass-through connector for the AC power adapter) or via infrared. In addition to the ActiveSync 3.5 software, HP includes Outlook 2002, Audible Player 2.0 for playing audio books, and MusicMatch for ripping and playing digital audio files. In addition to syncing up with Outlook files and directories, the Pocket PC versions of Word, Excel, and Media Player enable you to transfer almost any of your desktop files to the 568.
Powered by a 206 MHz StrongARM processor, the Jornada 568 can handle extensive multitasking without any slowdown. The bottom of the PDA offers four buttons for quick access to menus and applications--Home, Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks--as well as a four-direction navigation pad and scroll buttons on the side panel.
The Jornada 568 also functions as a voice recorder--just press the red button on the side and talk away--with a built-in microphone and speaker. But the speaker, while adequate for the normal beeps and burps of the OS, isn't great for music playback. You'll want to connect some headphones to the Jornada and, unfortunately, HP doesn't include any.
The rechargeable battery for the Jornada 568 promises up to 14 hours of life and we were able to get right around that. It also features a light at its top that glows green when the PDA is fully charged, and also flashes to alert you to appointments.
With its power, expandability, and the new Pocket PC 2002 operating system, the Jornada 568 makes an excellent all-around workhorse palmtop. --J. Curtis
Pros:
- Easy transfer of Word and Excel files and synchronization with Outlook
- CompactFlash Type 1 expandability
- Crisp, colorful display
- Sleek design
Cons:
- Speaker not adequate for playing back music
- No headphones

Too expensive & didn't work fine.......2005-02-05
I experienced lots of trouble with this item, windows didn't work right, and when I found out how to manage my sychronization it was too late, I had lost all my data. I spent over 1,000 USD in the pocket PC and accesories and after 6 months finally trew it in the trash can, since the connection port had broken without doing nothing. It was my first Pocket PC after trying all Palm models and devices, and finally went back to Palm with Zire 71, which I recommend a lot better. Palm OS is more stable, never breaks dowm, and allways reliable.
Nice PDA.......2003-06-06
This is a great PDA. It runs Windows 2002 Pocket PC Edition very well. I can play MP3's, use Pocket Word, and synchronize with Microsoft Outlook without a problem.
The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is that the screen scratches amazingly easy. I always keep the thing in a soft case, and it's already scratched up pretty good. I have no idea how these little blemishes got there, but it is very annoying when the light is just right and they stand out.
Incredible.......2003-02-02
This is a wonderful machine. It is compact and efficient. It is compatible with several database software products allowing for easy, on the road access to all types of information. It holds 1000 pages of text per MB of memory which makes travelling a breeze. No longer do I need an extra briefcase for my books. Currently, with just a 128 MB compact flash card as an accessory, I have 7 books, 13 audible.com audible books, multiple pictures as well as all my MS Outlook contact addresses, phone numbers, email addresses. Further, I can download and respond to my email from this little pocket-size phenom. It has never, never failed me.

Transformed my life.......2003-01-31
I used to carry a laptop and a Franklin planner almost everywhere. Now, my Jornada and the Targus keyboard are all I usually need, unless I'm doing a presentation to a client. The Pocket PC is a marvel of convenience. Here are common things I do on my HP Jornada:
* All MS Outlook related activities (appointments, tasks, meeting notes, and contacts)
* MS Pocket Money: I get a receipt, and I enter it before I leave the location. No more piles of receipts to process at the end of the month so that I can reconcile my accounts.
* Pocket Word: keep my personal journal, jot down notes, write business documents, etc. The formatting isn't anywhere near as powerful as the desktop version of Word, but it won't take too many more features for this to be a highly functional word processor.
* Pocket Excel: Track mileage. Pocket Excel is a very basic spreadsheet, but it does a great job for simple spreadsheets. I expect future versions will be better.
* Download web pages for viewing: Using AvantGo, I routinely download the Economist, New York Times, CNN, and many other sites. And if I travel, I can download restaurant and entertainment info for the city I go to.
* Track billable hours: Using a great FREEWARE program for Pocket PC, I can track billable hours for clients, projects, and even activities associated with projects.
* Brainstorm: I use a mind-mapping Pocket PC program to brainstorm and develop mindmaps and preliminary project plans for myself and with clients.
* Listen to music: A 64MB flash card can hold a decent amount of MP3 files!
* Show off my new daughter: I have a digital camera, so I can transfer images of my daughter to my Jornada to show pictures to my friends and associates.
Additionally, with a Pocket PC, you can do many other things that I don't yet use the Jornada for, including edit and view PowerPoint files, edit databases, edit html files, edit images, send and receive emails, view live Internet, and watch mpeg movies. Great!
The screen on the 568 is much improved from earlier Jornadas, too. Not as much glare in sunlight.
NOTE: HP IS DISCONTINUING THE JORNADA LINE IN FAVOR OF THE IPAQ LINE IT INHERITED FROM COMPAQ. LOOK FOR BARGAINS ON JORNADAS!

One of the ribbons was bad.......2006-11-03
After using one of the ribbons the printer kept popping up with an error message (ribbon jam) and I had to replace the ribbon with a new one to stop getting the error. When I buy the ribbons locally I can return them without having to pay postage and recieve a credit. So it may not be a good idea for me to purchase them online.
Thank you,

Customer Reviews:
Typical Koss - Bang for Buck.......2007-07-21
I bought these to replace my lost traveling headphones (sony earbuds). They were bought specifically because they were folding and not earbuds. I've never been a fan the earbud-style and bought my last pair because I'd had no choice.
So far, these are much more comfortable and those of you with heads the size of basketballs will be happy to find the "behind the head" feels comfortable and secure even on your massive melon.
The sound seems a little washed out--I'm surprised--Koss usually has a very good sound. Still it's tolerable for the extra comfort and portability.
Durability wise, these seem sturdy and well made (despite the other reviews) but only time will tell for sure--being for travel, they will take a lot of abuse.
Koss does have a lifetime warranty--so I'm sure I'll be abusing it.
Not bad for the money.......2006-04-04
Bought this because I needed a pair of headphones to wrap behind the head (remember to wear a helme when you're cycling, kids!), that also had a volume control, and that were cheap enough to not miss if they got broken.
This headphones have an interesting feature -- the ears sort of fold up to form this horizontally smaller setup for travel -- it's not particularly useful in practice, but it is a nice thought.
They are a little tight around my head yet do not hurt after extended (2 hour) use, but YMMV.
As for the sound -- you will need to tweak the EQ if you have one on your player. They are naturally fairly cheap, and so you don't expect good sound, but they really seem to blast the mid-high range, sometimes in an almost painful fashion. Lowering the mid-highs, and upping the bass and treble solves it for me. This is why I'm rating it a 3, for the unbalanced sound. I've had other similar products (my last set) which, while the sound isn't great, reproduce it fairly evenly across the board.
Other than that, if you need a pair of cheap headphones to work out with, with a volume control, that wrap around your head, these are the ones to get.
Not Worth Buying.......2006-03-11
When I received this product the only way to get both sides to work was to hit them repeatedly. Loose connection I believe. Not worth it to try and return them. Threw them in the trash can and bought a better pair at a local retailer.
Hurts my Ears.......2006-02-22
My grandmother gave these to me, beacause she sold her computer. They really hurt your ears.
amazing quaility.......2005-08-02
I had purchased an earlier iteration of this product but was dissappointed by its sesceptibility to break. But when I purchased these ones i was extremely pleased by it's quality and it has held up very well to the beating my possessions tend to take

Not worth it.......2007-06-29
Initially this seemed like a real good buy. After using it for a week, I switched back to my older Casio calculator. The biggest problem with this Sharp is that the keys are awful: if you write 123, you press 1, then wait one second, then press 2, then wait 1 second, then press 3. In all, you end up typing in extremely slowly because if you press the keys in quick succession, this calculator simply stops registering your input. If you're an advanced calculator user, you'd want to be able to type fast and without looking at the screen. This will not happen on this calculator. Often, I'd type too fast and not realize I was missing digits or brackets, which gives wrong answers. This extremely frustrating machine will give you a headache fast. It gets 2 stars because otherwise it has the same features as your average graphing calculator.
buy a ti.......2004-03-19
programing section of manual is unclear. lots of program writen for ti, can't find any for the sharp. spend the extra bucks on the "standard" ti

Customer Reviews:
Excellent backpack for my camera.......2007-08-24
The backpack is excellent, exactly what I expected. It has enough place for my accessories and camera, also the compartment for keeping small stuffs is enough for my needs, inside I can have a small notebook, mobile phone, pens, pencils and my cosmetics.
I think this backpack is ideal for beginners, women and for people not too tall.
Furthermore, the quality of material is very good.
Exelente.......2007-08-15

I'm from Venezuela, Bought this Item Because I'm a Fotographer, I own a Nikon D80, Really Protect the camera and the lenses, Very confortable, Highly Recomended...
Good pack, too small.......2007-06-01
This seems like a good backpack - very nicely padded, lots of room, well made. However, it's too small for me. I'm not really tall (5'10") and this bag makes you look ridiculous.
Excellent camera bag. Shame about the tripod straps.......2007-01-03
This pack is good. We just took a trip to Europe and I had no concerns about the safety of my camera and lenses. The pockets are well-padded, and easily adjusted to fit any size of camera and most lenses. It also has numerous side pockets for little gadgets - spare memory card, remote shutter release, USB card reader, etc. etc.
A minor niggle is that the chest strap is too high. It feels like the bag is getting ready to strangle me. But I find the bag very comfortable and secure to wear without this strap anyway, so I just leave it undone.
The only thing I really dislike about this bag is the straps that hold on the tripod. They're fiddly to operate, take far too much time to tie the tripod, and are prone to slip loose. I would have much preferred some sort of rubber-backed velcro arrangement. A real design flaw on an otherwise excellent bag, this earns it 4 stars instead of 5.
Nice, compact bag for day use.......2006-11-23
While I own the Lowepro Nature Trekker AW II Camera Backpack, I was inclined to purchase this backpack when I realized that the Nature Trekker was a lot for me to carry everywhere I go.
All-in-all, I'm very pleased with this bag and have found a good assortment of lens to store in it. Specifically, I can store a 300mm f/4, a 70-200mm f/4, and the 180mm macro (all from Canon) with their lens hoods attached (in the inverse position), and still have a little bit of room left on the inside for filter cases and an air blower. The inside of the bag can be fully customized as everything is attached using Velcro, so you can move the dividers around or remove them altogether. Finally, the inside contains three zippered pouches, with one "larger" one (10 inches long x 5 inches wide) and two very small ones. These would be used well for storing cords, flash cards, etc.
The outside of the bag has two primary pockets, with a small zipper pouch near the top and a larger zipper pouch in the middle. The larger pouch can be further secured with a clasp/strap combination that is adjustable. In addition, there are two small velcro pockets on each side of the bag that provide more storage. Finally, there is one "loop" on each side of the bag near the top that allow for "SlipLock" add-ons. While I have personally not found a use for these yet, I'm sure that you could easily attach a water bottle or something else.
While I have not tested the bag in overly harsh weather, it can probably stand up to some moisture, although I would not suggest letting it get drenched by rain. It seems durable as Lowepro bags in general tend to be of high quality for outdoor use.
Like I said, I personally selected this bag specifically for lens storage, while I carry my DSLR on a shoulder strap. I'm sure that the bag could hold up to three DSLRs alone if necessary, or some combination of DSLRs and lenses, but I have not tried this combination.
While some people might select this as a secondary bag, others could consider it for primary use as well, as long as you don't have too much to carry. Others might consider selecting something like the Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack or perhaps the Lowepro Mini Trekker Classic.

Who says cell phones get to have all the fun? This scientific calculator, with its extensive functions and robust programmability, boasts two colored faceplates, letting your inner colors fly. With a two-line, 7 x 5 dot-matrix display, you can see more, and with over 65 math and statistical features, you can do more.
The HP30S's built-in arithmetic functions include +, -, *, /, %, 1/x, +/-, plus ln, X, e
x, n!, y
x, log x, 10x, x², and pi. Additional functions include fractions, trigonometry, hyperbolic, root finder, and statistical analysis. The algebraic entry is intuitive, and no worries if you make a mistake--simply edit the command-line history. Scientific features are broad as well, ranging from polar/rectangular and angle conversions to decimal hours, minutes, seconds conversions and arithmetic unit conversions. The calculator can convert fractions to decimals as well as decimals to fractions.
Combining compact size, contemporary styling, and exceptional features, the calculator is ideal for students ranging from middle school algebra all the way up to high school and college-level trigonometry. Two faceplates are included, one in deep purple and one in translucent turquoise.
The HP30S uses two LR44 batteries and includes a one-year warranty.
Customer Reviews:
Easy.......2007-03-08
I love this calculator. It is extremely easy to use and the value for the price is crazy good! A lot of people in my stats class paid triple for their calculators compared to what I paid for this calculator and mine is way easier to use.
Not the HP quality that I am used to.......2007-01-08
This product looks good, but you should always be suspicious when one of a technical item's selling points is a fashion statement like a multi-colored faceplate. Dell tried this and dropped it -- too bad HP didn't catch on.
In summary, the HP30s is a piece of junk. The display started to have pixel failures after only a few hours of use. It is not anywhere near the quality of the old HP business and scientific calculators. I have a HP12c that is twenty years old and going strong. I didn't get 20 days out of the HP30s.
H.P. What's Happening?.......2006-04-29
I am an engineer and a long-time fan of H.P. products. The HP-30S, however, is a disaster. It started acting dodgy immediately after I purchased it, and it ultimately became so unreliable that I had to find a replacement. Maybe I'm being overly harsh because of my disappointment with both the product and the brand, but I really hope this is an anomaly and not an indication of the direction H.P is heading.
p.s. I purchased a Casio 115MS as a replacement, and I am very happy with it.
Complete Crap-Ola!.......2006-02-07
Maybe this works great for other disciplines, but for engineering/surveying it is darn near worthless.
Unfortunately, this is one of only 6 or 7 cheapo calculators (including the HP 33s--another piece of garbage) allowed for use on the liscensing exams. HP, please, please, please bring back one of the following: 11C, 15C or 32SII. That way, I could use a calculator for the exam that won't let me down.
Unless you have to use one of these, pony up the bucks for a used HP (one of the models listed) if you need a good basic scientific calculator.
Ugh. An embarrassment to the HP name........2004-10-06
This calculator is OK for a high school junior chemistry student and that's just about it. Or keep it in your toolbox in the garage for those times when you need to figure the area of your back yard before applying lawn fertilizer.
Contrary to the reviews that say this functionality is not needed in a hand calculator, I submit for your consideration that there are PLENTY of times when you need computing horsepower and you are not conveniently seated in front of your computer, e.g. in a meeting or out in the field.
I bought this grudgingly for use in the field as a backup calculator so I wouldn't have to risk dropping my 48 in the mud and having subsequent heart failure (I am a professional engineer) and I am sorry to say it is an utter disappointment. It is only marginally better than the competing TI or Casio. Hmmm, maybe if I DID drop it in the mud, it might at least add some character.
Poor build quality, horrible instructions, crappy feel to the keys, cheezy colored faceplates... come on, HP! Think you couldn't sell reissues of the 11c or 15c or 32sII any more? Why then are you still making the 12c? Have you seen the prices the 11/15/32 are commanding on eBay? Two, three times the original retail selling price! Hmm, why do you suppose that is? And look at the number of bids they get! Geez! Wake up and smell the coffee! Bring back RPN! Bring back tactile keys! Heck yes I'll pay $150 for a 12c reissue! Shoot, I'll commit to buy six of 'em right now! Build it (a decent calculator) and They Will Come!
