So how do you actually scan?

For single pages, simply follow these steps:

Pull the top edge of the scanner, rotating the scanner forward in the holder. The scanner can rest against the front edge of the holder.
Position the item face up in the lower left corner of the holder, with the top of the item facing left. Use the media placement tabs on the holder to position the item.
Return the scanner to its original position on the holder. You can see the item face up through the scanner glass.
Press the Scan button.
For books and other thick materials, simply place the scanner flat.

Get the whole picture
One of the most fun and unique things you can do with your HP 4670 is create gorgeous panoramic photos (even 360° panoramas). Simply scan your image in sections and the Automatic Stitching feature in ArcSoft Panorama Maker software (included) will automatically reassemble oversized images for printing. You can combine horizontal, vertical, or tiled sets of images.

Save space
The HP 4670 is so slim it fits on a bookshelf or in a briefcase. You can store it vertically, like a book, so it's perfect for a college dorm or a combined family room/office area. The windowpane is tough polycarbonate plastic and tempered glass to resist chipping, scratching, and breaking. The frame is secured with 12 screws (twice as many as most other scanners), and trimmed in rubber to absorb shocks. Not Vista Compatible.......2007-09-09

I was completely satisfied with this scanner. The only problem I had was a software glitch when I upgraded to Explorer 7.0, but that has since been fixed. Unfortunately, as with most of the peripheral equipment I had, it does not support Vista. There is a driver, but it only works with Windows Photo Gallery, which is bundled with the Vista OS and has very few features. The HP software is not compatible. But at least it works... When I upgraded to a new computer that came with Vista, I had to buy a new laser printer to replace the Xerox I've used for years as well as a later model DYMO label maker. My Canon PIXIMA iP6000D is the only equipment that had an upgrade. All the manufacturers who do not support Vista do have a solution to the problem: Purchase their latest product. I wonder if Microsoft gets a kickback?

Great idea...iffy software.......2007-08-15

Like many reviewers here I had a dead one of these things. HP replaced it without a quibble though and the replacement has been just excellent. I do like the machine itself, though I have to say that the HP bloatware scanner software is really very unpleasant. I just use the basic WIA driver, which does everything I need.
For scanning large documents, which is what I do a lot, there is nothing better.

Pretty good for the money. If you are really picky about quality you should get a more professional model - this is economy grade. The versatility of this scanner is awesome since it can be taken off the base and used to scan large items. I also like that it takes up minimal desk space when stored on its base. That was the main selling point for me.

Works great!!.......2006-05-17

I'm a network administrator (among other things!!) and my boss decided to buy this scanner for my department. I do a LOT of scanning and I don't have any complaints about this scanner. We've had it for about a year without any problems. It's true it takes a while doing the first scan, because it has to "warm up the lamp", but after that it's very fast. It comes with some bundled software you can use to scan several parts of a large image and then put them together like a puzzle, but to be honest I rather use photoshop to do that job, and I get great results!!

However, I'm giving it 4 stars because I think it doesn't scan negatives as good as it should; for documents it's excellent!!

Plenty problems.......2006-04-28

I'm now on my third scanner of this type.

The first worked for ca. 1 week until it went dead in the middle of a scan. I returned it to the shop and soon recieved a new one. This lasted for a month - and the same thing happened again. Well, today I recieved my third scanner, which worked fine - for 15 minutes!! Three different scanners, same problem. The design and consept is great - but that does not help at all. If i could rate this with 0 stars I would.

I love this phone...leaves my hands completely free and with no wires dangling around my shoulder. While some other reviewers had complained about static....I have not noticed any static at all on my phone. For some it may be a little pricey, but I have not found a similar phone anywhere else for any price....I am not sure why there are not more phones of this kind.

Looks like the majority of people have had a similar experience (aside from a couple lucky folks). GREAT idea! But...

First one had such low volume that I couldn't use it.

I exchanged it but had an impossible time installing the battery in that one.

The 3rd one worked well... for awhile. Then it started dying after just a couple minutes. The company sent me a new battery and it worked like a charm... for awhile.

By the time it was a few months old, with a new battery, the static creeped in (just like most other reviewers mentioned).

Initially, if I turned the headset slightly it went away. Soon I found the only thing that would help was holding the earpiece hard against my head (uncomfortable and kinda defeats the purpose). Now, nothing I do helps and I'm reduced to using the speakerphone only.

When it worked, it was fantastic.

WHEN it worked.

Judging from the reviews, looks like you have about a 1 out of 10 chance of ending up with a decent phone. That may just mean those with a good experience haven't had the phone long enough for problems to start.

after spending more than 100 bucks, you expect at least decent customer service. The seller provided little customer service except to leave the phone on charging when the low battery warning comes. GREAT!!!! I DIDNT KNOW THAT!

The earlier model which is 900mhz is a great buy. It has the same features, can be used with a computer and has an extended battery life. I got mine from amazon, but they are hard to find.

I have 3 different versions of this IBM headset phone - various models. Each time I thought they would improve. They didn't! Please head my advice - don't waste your $$! It's a great idea, and nothing out there like it, but these phones don't hold a charge after a month or so, the noise interference is awful, and they randomly have static on the lines for no apparent reason. I wish they would work for my home business - but they simply don't work well. Just don't do it!!

I had the previous version, and returned it. Everyone's comments here seem to indicate the same issues exist, fundamentally poor audio quality.

I got the Vtech totally coordless phone after returning the IBM, and it was better but still low quality. It was much more comfortable and audio was tolerable. unique design that does not touch ears is great, very comfortable for extended use. But we wore it out, now looking for something else. Once you have had a phone of this type, you are ruined for life, and never want to go back to anything else. Sigh.
