SO FAR SO GOOD..........2007-09-04
I've had my VTech phone for a couple of weeks now. I haven't had any problems with it. I really love the feature to where I can call up to my daughter's room with the intercome system, instead of yelling up the stairs for her. All you do is press the, "INT" button on the bottom of the phone & put in the handset # your calling to.
The only disappointment I have with this phone is that I wish it would have more wall paper displays & more ring tone options. Other than that, I haven't had any problems so far.

I was disappointed with this system once getting it home.
Pros: Nice looking system, speaker phone and mute buttons on each handset, volume buttons on the side of the phone versus the face, ability to select different wallpapers and ringers for each handset, and of course the expandability.
Cons: Conversations kept cutting out, the resolution of the color LCD was not as high as I had expected, unable to name each handset, and limited ring tones and wallpapers.
Overall, this system wasn't all that it could be for the price I paid and will be returning it today. I am now looking at purchasing the Uniden CLX485 and hope that it will better suit my... wants.

Naming The Handset.......2007-03-29
I just plugged in my new I6789 Phone System and just LOVE it! Very nice so far. The only thing I can't figure out is how to name each handset? Has anybody else had the same problem? Does anybody know how to name the handset's? Currently mine are still named Handset 1, 2, 3, 4
Hopefully there is a way to name them something else!

I've owned a VTech 1930C for the past several years, and it is still in service and working flawlessly. Recently I decided to add a second cordless phone to my home, and got the very spiffy looking VTech 2461 2.4 GHz model. Alas, the sound quality was not as good! There were assorted hisses and hums, especially when used with a headset. The 1930C had spoiled me into thinking that cordless phone transmissions always sounded near perfect. So, thinking that the problem may be the 2.4 GHz technology, I browsed at VTech's current lineup of 900 MHz phones. Overall, the quality of construction just doesn't measure up to the 1930C.

All features are very competitive and complete BUT the handset volume is absolutely unacceptable. I tried 2 of these and they both are almost useless. I have 4 other Vtechs models with no problems. Vtech company has givin me no recourse or satisfaction to where I would be very hesitant to buy another one of their products.

With three mailboxes, the VTech VT9151 can record calls for you and two associates or family members. This phone also offers 900 MHz cordless convenience and makes an attractive desktop statement.
To set up the phone, we inserted the battery pack, plugged in the AC power, and connected the RJ-11 telephone-line cord. We recommend that you charge the battery overnight before using the phone for the first time. Voice-guided menus help you set the outgoing message, security code, day and time, audible message alert, announce-only mode, base ringer status, and number of rings (two, four, six, or toll-saver). We followed the menus, and after much trial and error, we were able to set these options without consulting the owner's manual; however, we recommend that you follow the manual for the easiest setup and for a proper introduction to the phone's many features.
In our tests of the VT9151, we placed the base unit in a downstairs area, where walls, floors, and obstructions might interfere with signal quality. We made several calls, and the phone sounded only slightly softer than our corded desk phone, with only occasional, minor static when the handset was close to the base. When the handset was about 50 feet from the base, reception started to get fuzzy. At about 100 feet from the base, interference greatly increased; the handset completely lost contact with the base at about 450 feet.
The VT9151's answering machine can store messages for three people (or for three different purposes) and callers can specify which person they would like to leave their message for. In our tests of the answering system, the sound quality was very good with few compression artifacts. Maximum recording time for one message was exactly four minutes, with a total recording time of 25 minutes and 35 seconds.
Overall, with its 900 MHz operation, three message boxes, more than 25 minutes recording time, voice-guided menu operation, and fun color, the VTech 9151 makes an enjoyable, practical, and flexible telephone system for your desk.

I got this phone when I went away to college. It's fine for a first answering machine and cordless phone on a budget. But every once in a while it would start beeping very loudly and uncontrollably in the middle of the night! I would have to pull the battery out of the handset to get it to stop. The outgoing message is very fuzzy and sometimes the handset wouldn't even turn on. If you are looking for quality, look somewhere else.

I had this phone in my dorm room and it was absolutely horrible! I'm sure some of it was due to every other room having a cordless phone and all the signals intermingling, but this phone was by far the worst cordless phone I have ever used. Even in the silence of the early morning hours (you know how college students are with sleep schedules) there was still staticy shhhuhhhh noises in the phone, making it really hard to have any sort of intelligible conversation. I wish there was a 0 star rating because I would give it that!

I would not recommend this product to anyone who doesn't want to have to buy another phone within 18 months. Less than 4 months after the warranty ran out on my phone, it died and has been unrevivable for the past three weeks.
Please note that I have followed all of the recommendations of the VTech website and telephone support lines. The only thing that I have yet to do is actually request a repair. No doubt repairing this phone will be more arduous and just as expensive as buying a new phone.

I live in a suburban apartment complex, and for me, this phone is phone-omenal. Clear as a bell, can walk to the mailbox with it (500 feet), lasts for 2+ days under light use condition between charges. Answering machine is very functional, I very much enjoy this phone.

I liked a friend of mine's VTECH 900 mhz phone years ago, so I bought one (the 9060i). Problem is: static and chatter sometimes, even when fully charged; even when I push the "channel" button. I live in a dense neighborhood, so maybe that's the problem. Maybe it will work for you if you live on a farm (unless your livestock have cells, so to speak)... You could buy a better phone for less.

Setting up the phone for basic operation was easy--we just inserted the battery pack, plugged in the AC adapter/recharger, and connected the phone cables to two standard RJ-11 jacks. (At your site, you may have two lines in a single RJ-14 jack.) You control the features through the base unit's 19 front-mounted buttons; there are also two switches on the side and one on the bottom. I have had this phone for a little over 4 years. For the first 4 years, it worked fine. Recently the handset does not work reliably; I can hear fine but the microphone & headphone connection do not always work - the other person might not hear you. I mostly just use it's basic features. You can dial the number before connecting to the line, which is nice because you do not have to hear the "beeps" in your ear. Overall, I was pleased with this phone and am considering getting another one to replace the defective version.
A Good Deal.......2002-06-05
The sound quality is great, both for me and for the people on the other end. The functions are awesome, and I really like having an answering machine that works with both lines. The only problem I've found so far is that, as the editorial review said, the advanced features are not as intuitive as I would have liked. I'm going to have to keep the manual handy until I am sure I know how to do everything.
My only other quibble is that someone pasted a little sticker over the one-year warranty, to make it only a 90-day warranty. That's probably because I opted to buy through one of the vendors rather than direct through Amazon, but I still think it's kind of cheesy.
But the phone is great!

I purchased the VTECH phone less than a year ago. The sound quality was terrible, and the phone often frezes up not allowing calls in or out. It must be unplugged an reset to work.

Like all VTechs - great price; acceptable function. I've owned this phone for many years. Reading the negative reviews is disappointing. What do people expect from a phone that does everything for less than $100? The sound and other qualities are adequate, not exceptional. Have your ever made a good recording from a small condenser mike? Try getting closer and speaking quietly. Good range. It is sturdy and reliable. The electrical engineer who needs the manual to set the time should change professions. Just *LISTEN* to the menu. I really like the extra battery serving as power backup - very useful where I live.
VTech 2960 sound quality is abysmal.......2001-08-10
The phone is easy to use and the answering machine is reasonable. The lack of a keypad on the base station can be annoying because you have to use the tiny buttons on the handset instead. The real problem with this phone is abysmal sound quality. People kept asking me to "speak up" and I kept saying "Excuse me" to get people to repeat things that I couldn't make out. And god forbid that you are taking to someone on a cell phone - reciprocal gibberish. So bad that I had to return this phone. So I cannot recommend this phone to you.

We made a variety of local and long-distance calls, and the phone sounded only slightly softer than our reference corded desk phone. We noticed some signal degradation--static and the sound cutting in and out--when we moved the handset about 100 feet from the base. At about 200 feet, the phone activated its auto channel-searching feature. At this distance the phone could not find a clearer channel and became unusable until we returned the handset to the base. This is the tradeoff for the superior clarity of digital transmission--the phone stops working abruptly when the signal weakens beyond a certain point.
With its terrific price, digital 900-MHz transmission quality, call waiting caller ID, and well-chosen set of features, the VTech 1920 makes a great, general purpose cordless phone.

I've had this phone for about a year now, and have had no problems. The charge lasts a long time and I can take it throughout my home and yard and hear clearly. The caller ID function is useful when you are busy and not sure if you should pick up the phone.

As another reviewer said, the volume is insufficient, even when turned up to maximum. With the slightest background noise, you will not hear the other party. Would try a Toshiba, but reviewers have had battery problems.

Don't try mounting this phone on a wall. It's very difficult, with one small tab, to get the phone to stay in its cradle. Also, life of nicad battery will be shortened while phone is in cradle, but there is no viable alternative. Phone has poor tone quality and insufficient volume. Also, the $20 rebate offer really expired a month before delivery and did NOT match sample rebate coupon in promotional information. I am sending this unsatisfactory phone back.

The phone works great. It has very good features for the price and its range seems to be pretty good as well, even though it's not a spread spectrum phone. I can use it at my neighbor's house across the street with no cut out or static. As far as the rebate goes, the one that comes in the box with the phone is out Jan 1st 2000, but the rebate on the web page, which Amazon says to view and print, is not out until March 1st 2000

I have found that it is great for kid's rooms and college dorms because it is tough and well made, ours has been dropped more than once and still works well. The only negative (very slight) I have found is that it does not have the sound quality of the VTECH digital phone we own but that is understandable as it is not digital, the difference in sound quality is very, very small. This is a great phone for your dollar and will last for quite some time, I would recomend it.

This phone worked well for the first few months, but then the hand set went dead. The answering machine works but there is no way to access the menu with out the hand set. so now i have to buy batteries for the hand set. all in all its not a bad deal.

I bought this phone for Christmas of 2000; it gave a good performance until very recently. Sound was good on it, no echo, no static. However, exactly six months after purchase, the battery died and I've been informed that the battery is no longer made. There is no reason that the battery should have died this early, as we always kept the handset on the charge cradle. I'm glad this phone didn't cost much or I would be pretty mad about the 6-month life.

I wasn't expecting much when I bought this phone since price was my main consideration. But I have been pleasently surprised. The phone is sleek, clear sound, has a good range, and holds a nice charge. The volume settings are perfect. The Loudest setting actually is LOUD! When I go outside while on the phone, I have yet to hear static. Great phone for the price! I'd buy one again.
Disappointing product.......2001-02-23
I purchased the VTech 9108 primarily for its affordability, easy to use features, its sleek styling, and its light weight. Unfortunately, after about a month of use in a single person household (i.e. I don't have kids and I never dropped it!), static during calls increased, along with odd clicking sounds. Progressively, the phone has worsened so that the channel changer does not have any effect. I overhear other people's calls frequently, and the static increases so significantly after about 7 minutes of talk time (something in the phone wiring must be heating up after a certain amount of use), I can't even hear the other person. The warranty which requires one to send the product back insured, followed by weeks of waiting for the company to decide whether to fix the phone or send you a new one isn't really worth the effort and the fact that one has to get a new phone anyhow during the wait. Very disappointing phone.

I own 4 of this model in my home, business, garage and cabin. Well balanced, good range and crystal clear !!! I have had more expensive and they were nowhere near as good.

I bought this phone a year ago and have been very pleased withit. The phone does not feel or sound like a cheap phone. It has held up in our house even after being dropped a few times by the children. The sound is very clear, you can't tell you are on a cordless phone. We are able to talk from all parts of our house, even outside. I highly recommend it!

This phone is pleasing to the eye, but I found that this phone was too clunky. When holding this phone on your shoulder, you may end up hanging up on the person. The talk button sticks out in a way that its easy to hang up with a slight touch of your ear. My roomate had this phone at college and didn't find it handy at all. I would have liked to have a redial button too. Sound quality was bad once I walked in to the next room as well. I don't recommend buying this phone.

I love V-Tec phones. They have great range and are very clear. It is possible to walk all over the house, go outside, etc. while talking, and there is no "tin can" effect. I can't even tell I'm on a cordless. The volume control and pager are great features as well.

I ended up buying this phone because I needed a white phone, it turned out to be one of the best cordless phones I ever bought. I never have a problem with the signal or sound, simple, inexpensive, and works great.
