The Minolta Freedom Action Zoom 90 delivers high-quality zoom performance in a compact, affordable package. Its high-powered zoom, and range of flash options, make it a good choice for travelers and photographers who need moderately advanced features. While the Minolta Freedom Action Zoom 90 isn't super-compact, it is relatively small and lightweight. The Minolta has a fairly powerful 38 to 90mm zoom lens, good for wide-angle landscape shots, portraits, and close-ups.

The Minolta Freedom Action Zoom 90 takes ISO 100, 200, and 400 film; and automatically reads the speed of DX-coded film. Non DX-coded film automatically sets to ISO 100. The Zoom 90 allows you to lock focus to compensate for situations where autofocus isn't the best choice (e.g. when your subject is off center). There are five flash modes--auto, fill-flash, off, night portrait, and landscape modes. Night portrait mode synchronizes a slow shutter speed with the flash, allowing well-lit portraits against a nightscape. Landscape mode turns the flash off and sets the focus at infinity, letting you take sharp pictures of distant mountains and landmarks. The Minolta Freedom Action Zoom 90 has both automatic and manual film rewind options.

Overall, we found the Minolta Freedom Action Zoom 90 to be a good general-purpose point-and-shoot camera, with some extra features such as the landscape and night portrait modes. The zoom is relatively high-powered for a camera in its class. The only drawback we experienced was that it zooms out in four steps, versus of a continuous, fluid motion. The 90's small size and automatic lens cover make it a good traveling companion.

Cheaply Made!.......2001-04-13

Within a short time after purchase, the (plastic) back latch on the Minolta Freedom Action Zoom 90-Date camera broke. Now the camera is worthless. The warranty covers only manufacturing defects (not poor design). I found the camera cheaply made and the quality of the pictures just average. My advice would be to spend a little more and get a better made camera that hasn't been so poorly designed.

I received this camera as a gift last November (1999). After 3 weeks of use, it started to rewind after only taking 2 or 3 pictures. I returned it to the store where it was purchased and exchanged it for the same model assuming it was an individual camera problem. I was wrong. The red eye reduction feature has never worked. When using the zoom feature, pictures are extremely fuzzy. The only way to get good pictures is to not use the zoom and take picture outdoors. Now the camera has completely quit working. Everything that can blink at me does. I tried replacing the battery and that was not successful. I do not recommend this particular camera to anyone.

I have mixed feelings about this camera. I have been using it for the past year and have found that while my outdoor picutres come out nicely, indoor shots leave something to be desired. I have tried shots with 200 to 800 speed film and 400 seems to give me the best pictures. I've also noticed that the pictures used with the zoom lense often come out fuzzy, so many of my early pictures weren't too clear. Also, when the camera uses the flash, it takes a while before its ready again. I expected more from the camera, but am happy with its basic outdoor shots.

We purchased this camera to replace a Fuji that I had had for years. The camera seemed comfortable, easy to use, had a longer-range zoom than most in the price range and had the features we wanted. We are very happy with the camera overall, however, my only complaint is that it is a little noisy for the zoom and the camera casing feels a little "cheap", not as sturdy as the fuji. Overall, the pictures are wonderful and we are very happy with our decision - much happier than we were with the Fuji.

Mustek D35 .......2006-01-11

I had bought my Mustek D35 about two years ago and while browsing through Google I stumbled upon this page once again. Just to clear up some questions about this camera I decided to give my opinion. When I received my Mustek D35 I was shocked to physically see how tiny this camera was and to add to the confusion of N. George's Mustek D35 my camera is a bright deep blue just as the photograph above shows. Also I agree with L. Bowers review and restate the camera needs a ton of batteries and light to work best and has a long boot up with long loading period in between snapping photos. Another problem I have uncovered with use of this product is the battery cover over time holding some rechargeable batteries had broken the small plastic latches holding the door closed. Now I have to use a piece of electrical tape to keep it closed and still have to remove the batteries when I'm done. Mostly I use my camera as an awesome microphone and as a cheap web cam. Since this is my first digital camera I have nothing to compare it to, but I would advise readers to look around.

CHEAP & BAD.......2005-11-12

This camera is awful. I bought it a year ago. Painfully slow between shots, often freezes and have to pop the batteries out to reset it. Eats batteries in less than 30 mins. Requires TONS of light, and the flash sucks. You get close enough for the flash to work and the picture is washed out, step 1 foot back and it is too dark. The picture quality leaves lots to be desired. 2 good things... The video record is decent (outside with lots of natural light) and the voice recorder is excellent (used it at a few clubs to record bands and was pleased). Other than those two qualities this camera sucks for taking pictures! You can get better quality for the same price, even a lower price!!

Why do I like it? Because its invisible. From when I unpacked it and plugged in a few Ethernet (1gb and 100mb) devices, it has never reminded me that it exists!

I needed more speed on my network. I run a home based business and have 8 computers on the network. The computers could handle a large amount of data quickly. The standard speed switches I had could only operate at 10/100. I looked into and purchased two Gigabit Switches (16 and 5 ports). I also purchased the corresponding network adapter cards (that's a no brainer). It was one of the best technology investments I made in 2006.

Product works as advertised - performs within specifications. The 5 port unit has no fan and is thus silent in the true sense of the word.

I only gave 4 stars because the unit does not support jumbo frames.

I have been shopping for a Gigabit Switch with which to upgrade my home network and have found not a single positive review regarding any Linksys Gigabit Switch.

I am uncertain if other users have been burned by receiving shoddy hardware from the start; however, the two units I purchased are in perfect working order and are silent and cool--contrary to the numerous critiques on Amazon.com and several hardware review web sites. (I wonder if Linksys made modifications to the design since this product has been released...)

The metal case keeps the switch cool, although it will still get warm--like anything else you plug into an electrical outlet. The device feels sturdy and works very well. I have a LINUX box set up as a file, FTP, and web server and have had no issues whatsoever moving large files with this device over the past week. There is mention of a fan in this and the larger model (SD2008); however, I have yet to hear this little switch make a sound at all.

My only issue with this particular model is that it is not designed to really inform the user of the connection speed--that is something you must rely upon Windows to do. The connection LEDs will light-up and blink based upon network activity, but there is no indication whether the speed is 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps.

I have been using Linksys products for over a year and a half and have not once received a piece of hardware for which I needed to return to the store or contact technical support. I used a Microsoft Wireless Broadband Router (MN-500) which needed to be replaced three times over a six-month period. I made the switch to Linksys and never turned back.

I have owned this scanner and never had trouble with it. It was easy to install and it was a fast scanner. It was user friendly, small, lightweight and works with pc or mac machines. I would still be using it if it wasn't for the fact I was given an all-in-one printer. I honestly don't have anything bad to say.

I basically bought the Microtek scanmaker 3600 b/c it was slim, looked good and was fairly inexpensive campared to others. I enjoyed it while it was scanning (of course I don't know a lot about computers,etc.) However, It only worked for just a few months before the bulb burnt out. Imagine that! I also got the red low glow (???). Like others, I found it hard to get to the on/off switch. And of course as said before, the only way to get it fixed was to mail the scanner back to them at my cost. Well forget that. I bought a new scanner and it definitely was not a Microtek. Microtek is not worth the time, trouble and added stress. Thanks for reading. ironjaw

The scanner worked fine for the first month. Then I accidentally left the power on for a week, and the bulb burned out. Not completely, but the light is no longer bright white, but rather a dim neon red and all scans are so dim and noisy as to be unusable. I guess the bulb can't be replaced. What do you expect for [the price], I guess.

I too purchased a 3600. It was inexpensive when I bought it so I should have known better... The inside of the lid is black. That translates into photo copies using a LOT of laser toner. Also, the power switch is a small toggle on the back. Turning it on and off is a hassle. Leaving it on will burn out the bulb in short order. (Which is exactley what happened with mine.)
Turns out the bulb is some sort of special Microtek only bulb. Even if you are a technician, you can't get the bulb. If the printer is out of warranty, getting the thing repaired will cost more than the original price. My suggestion?
Spend a little more on a different brand with a common bulb and buy the extended warranty.

Possibly the worst scanner I've owned.......2002-11-09

This is the worst scanner. I constantly have problems with it reading documents and please, don't tell me it's my computer,it isn't. It's not too bad with photos but certainly not the quality you'd expect. The support, is there support? I've never had a response to any of my inquiries. All in all I would never purchase another one.
