Best results with a reasonable price!.......2003-03-07

I have tried this film in my brother's camera (Canon EOS 500N) many times and I've found that the results are always good, better than the other brands. Even some of my pictures are extra ordinary although I used only a standard camera and its standard lenses (28mm - 80mm and 75mm - 300mm) without any additional flash. The closeups are so clear and sharp, the landscape pictures are wonderful, and the portrait pictures are perfect. I also tried to take the picture of the sun with my custom-made filter and it is good enough. Even, I've tried it for a night scene and surprisingly, it works well! (of course, I have to use tripod or a steady structure). If there is anybody thinking that this film is not good enough, maybe it's your camera (or even you!). Anyway, it is cheaper than other brands (esp. Fuji) here in Indonesia.

Gold is Yellow.......2002-12-19

I work in a photo processing lab, and print around 100 rolls of film each day.

One thing I've noticed about Kodak Gold is that in general the "gold" tone the film tries to produce acts more like a yellow hue so that skin tones are distorted and subjects look jaundiced. Try Fuji, it's both cheaper and has better color.

Comparing Fuji and Kodak.......2002-12-15

This film's main advantage is the more realistic colors than the Fuji Superia. It also seems to do a good job rendering skin tones, although I have read that the 200 ASA is better than the 400 for this, but I'm not that sharp-eyed myself on skin tones. But I can clearly see the difference between this, for example, and the Fuji Superia, in terms of the color rendition.

The Fuji is better if you want more saturated colors. It has the extra 4th emulsion layer that gives more intense reds, purples, and blues. It also has good black response and contrast, and good overall exposure latitude. The review I read of the Fuji said it also has good responese with polarizers and specifically recommended a circular polarizing filter for use with it. I'm a little puzzled by that since polarizing filters are regarded normally as intensifying color, since they help elmininate some chromatic desaturation that occurs with distance as a result of the blue-scattering effect. But anyway, I pass that advice on for what it's worth.

The only real problem to watch out for with the Fuji is underexposure, which will cause washed out colors and graininess.

Despite all the above advantages of the Fuji, the super-saturated colors aren't to everyone's liking, and in that case, the Kodak may be best for you. If you want the most bilious colors you've ever seen, choose the Fuji.

Kodak Colors r Real.......2002-09-10

This film is so much more realistic than Fuji regarding color saturation. Kodak films provide an accurate color balance where Fuji film is over saturated to please their home market preferences. This is true for all speeds.

Perfect film for SLRs........2004-10-07

If you have a 35mm SLR camera, it's hard to beat this film. It's plenty fast enough, and the grain is amazing. Even if you have a small, compact camera, while you may have some trouble, this film is great. Make sure you DON'T get it developed at a grocery store or wall-mart type place: this will make any film look horrible. At least go to your local ritz/wolf camera, or use a lab. You'll see the difference. Ultimatly, A superb film.

Good value for the price.......2003-08-23

We used the film with a cheap camera on our last trip and I truely didn't have my expections too high but all pictures came out nicely. Pictures we took in the evening did not come out as clear (greyish), possibly due to the quality of the camera. All in all - Strongly recommend.

Great versitility at an exceptional value.......2000-10-19

Kodak makes great film, and Gold Max is one of their best amature films. This film provides maximum versitility for outdoor sports, and for the decently lighted indoor shots. Grain structure is good, holding well up to an 8"x10" print. Best part about this film is the price...I think Kodak and Amazon.com have a real winner here.

Great amp for automation.......2007-03-09

I recently replaced an old TV that had a built in amp that I used to drive external speakers. The new TV is a flat screen that has RCA line out but cannot directly drive speakers. I could hook the TV to a component audio system, but my goal was simplicity and automation. Basically I want to just turn on the TV and listen to the TV using my existing Bose speakers. This amp is perfect.

You hook the line out of the TV to the unit and the speakers to it and you are done. I chose this specifically because when I turn off the TV I want to have the amp turn off also. I do not want more remotes, I just want it automated.

The amp automatically turns itself on/off based on sensing if there is any activity on the line in. When you turn off the TV, the amp waits about 3 minutes and then turns itself off. When you turn on the TV it takes a few seconds for it to sense the sound and then turns itself back on.

This company that makes this amp offers several models, I chose this model since a common item mentioned about the lower model numbers was that they would turn off very quickly, some people mentioned that those other models would turn off if there was a silent part in a show, this amp does not have that problem.

A nice quality amplifier with good sound........2006-07-14

My first impression on unpacking the AMP200 was its weight for an amplifier of this size, 11 kgs (just over 24 pounds) !

The front panel is black brushed metal, and has three sets of push buttons on the left hand side (power on/off, speakers A on/off, and speakers B on/off). On the right hand side there are two controls, one for adjusting the left/right balance, and one for adjusting the volume trim (-12 dB/+6 dB). Each of these controls clicks into the center (unadjusted) position. In the center of the front panel is an indicator light which glows a bright blue when the amplifier is operational or red when the amplifier is in standby mode.

On the back of the amplifier are various connectors, switches, and small adjustment knobs, as well as the connector for the detachable power cord. The speaker binding posts accept either bare wire cable or banana plugs (not spades).

I would highly recommend reading the five page Owner's Manual before setting up the unit, as the controls on the back of the amplifier are not readily accessible once it has been installed into a rack !

For my purposes, I'm using a single stereo source into RCA inputs (when using only one signal source you need to use the Line 2 inputs rather than Line 1). The power mode of the unit is also configurable via a three position switch for either normal power operation using the front panel on/off button, to be remotely controlled by a DC trigger, or by means of automatically sensing the input signal. I opted for the latter, and the amplifier comes out of standby mode within a few seconds of sensing a signal and goes back into standby mode if no signal is received for approximately three and a half minutes.

At less than $ 250, I'd rate this as a nice quality amplifier with good sound.
