Customer Reviews:
I have no regrets!!.......2007-04-05
This is a very simple 2 ways radio. I used for 3 days and one stops working. Of course Amazon change it and the other one it's still working. I used for a travel in Disney and it worked very well.
Not 12 miles.......2007-03-19
Tried this at a straight stretch of road at a distance of 3 miles works good but beyond that lot of static. NOAA feature is good and helpful during storm warnings.Definitely not for 12 miles as it says on the cover even with one watt transmitting power.
GOOD THINK FOR GOOD REASON.......2007-01-27
The T6500 Radio is a good choice for the person that need something standard and don t spend much money.
Fair range/reception at best........2007-01-10
I purchased these radios not having first hand experience with FRS/GMRS radios at all. But I did do a lot of research. Unfortunately most of the negative reviews I read about them were true for me. The 1 watt of power only got me about .5 mile of reception at best. The people who only need two-way radios for usage ranges of less than this may love this radio. If this does not describe you, then I strongly recommend going for a higher wattage model (for example I now know that Midland makes some excellent 4 and 5 watt models). Power = range. The advertised max ranges of all radios can likely only ever be reached under extremely ideal conditions. That's marketing for you. I did return the Motorolas and got my money back.
Exchanged them for Motorola SX700.......2006-11-11
I don't know if I just got a bad pair of radios, but they didn't work at all. If we were beyond shouting distance the radios did not receive any signal at all. Even at very close range there was too much static to understand anything. I'll post a review of the SX700s after we get a chance to try them out.

Customer Reviews:
Horrible design from the industry leaders..........2004-11-24
I still think Motorola has got the 2-way radio technology down very well, but there are some flaws in the T5920 series that make me regret that I purchased them.
First off, the swivel belt clip is ridiculous. For this type of device it's much more useful to have a fixed clip. For many users of this type of equipment, a waist belt is the last place they'd clip it. With the horrible swivel, it's very hard to secure the radios to something like the outside of a backpack. No accessories are offered to help deal with this situation.
The second problem I have with the T5920 is that it is far too easy to accidentally turn on or off. A separate switch for on/off than the giant volume knob would be better, or some sort of hold/lock switch like you see on an Apple iPod device and similar small portable music devices.
Lastly, although I stated above that Motorola is in my mind still a leader in the 2-way radio market, with my pair of T5920's, I am very disappointed in the sound clarity.
NOT FOR ME!!!!.......2004-05-18
I have been searching for a great set of GMRS radios and I really wanted to like these, but alas it wasn't to be. The radios have a nice look to them, but that is about all. The buttons on the face of the radios are easy enough to press and operate, but not at the expense of the menu system. It takes so many presses just to do a simple change, I got quickly disgusted with it. Not only did the units require lots of button presses to make simple changes, but I needed to hold this CLOSE to my face just to see the TINY display. The PTT (push to talk) buttons are inset into the side of the units, making them near impossible to even press. My wife and I both had problems holding the buttons in just to talk for anything longer than two words because they required such force to press. I can say the rechargable batteries are good, but could be better if they were NiMH batteries instead of the inferior NiCD batteries included. Also, range was good since I could reach near a mile through thick trees and hilly terrain, maybe farther in open terrain. I ultimately found a far superior set of radios for a cheaper price in another brand with all the features I wanted that I have also reviewed on Amazon.
Excellent Radios.......2004-01-21
Purchased these as a Christmas present for my father in law. Much improved version of the older motorola radios I have a lot more channels, rechargeble batteries and excellent performance. We used his new radios on our way to Orlando and they always worked even several miles apart. They even worked with my older radios when set to the same channel and security code. Amazon definetly had the best price we shopped everywhere including warehouse clubs and found amazon impossible to beat.
Bad, Bad, and just plain bad..........2004-01-14
brought my from staple local store... first time, bad (can't transmit on the right channel) upon open, and had to be return.
and second time... still bad, I just would not believe it, but it is still bad, so had to be return again.
Well... just don't buy it, period.
Excellent!!!.......2004-01-12
I have been an FRS radio user for a long time. The clarity and quality of these radios are top notch. The audio quality is crystal clear and rival Motorola's first few series of talkabouts. The GMRS channels give these radios much better range and I really like the additional privacy codes. The dual charger and NiCD batteries supplied with these units make this a super deal!

Very poor range.......2006-07-17
Great radio but I got .3 miles flat land with trees range.
I though more of moto
oh well
Beware !!!!!!!!!!!
Poor Range.......2006-03-27
The range is actually 1 Mile only. Its not 10 Mile Range that has mentioned on the product.we were disappointed.
Really nice radios but awful audio reception quality.......2006-01-03
The price is a bargain for the spec (Standard GMRS/FRS channels + NOAA weather radio, vibrate, earbuds/PTT mic, battery packs and charger). They're rugged looking units, and work on 3xAA size batteries, which gives a potentially longer operating time than radios with AAA's.
However, my main gripe with these things is the quality of the audio output when receiving transmissions from another walkie talkie. Just terrible, in my opinion. Compared against my cheap-o 'Columbia' FRS units ($30 for the full kit), speech from the Mot T6510s is just about unintelligible. I keep having to ask people to repeat what they said and put my ear right up against the speaker. Using the earpiece doesn't improve matters much.
Transmitting from a T6510 to another brand is fine, so it's not the microphones. Receiving NOAA messages is also quite audible; but that's a clearly spoken, recorded message. I think the problem is that the AF section seems to only chuck out a very high, squawky, mid-range tone whereas my other units have a much flatter, softer response. If I didn't like the look and features so much, I'd have taken them back for a refund long ago.
The other thing I don't like is the rotary volume control, protruding from the top (same as most Motorola radios). I find that when worn on the belt clip, clothing makes the knob rotate back to the 'min' position and I find myself continually checking that the volume's turned up while on a walk. The vibrate feature has come in handy there.
Unbelievable range.......2005-11-11
I was a bit reluctant at buying these radios for being only available in this special package. I could not find information on them as separated units, not even in Motorola's web pages (though they look exactly the same as the T6500). Finally, the price and the number of accesories made it a very good offer so I decided to take the risk. Besides, I never believed the 10 miles range promised since they were 1W units, same as many others that are supposed to be only 5 to 7 miles. However, to my surprise, in a trip to Easter Island I managed to sustain a normal conversation with a partner that was 18 Km away from me (about 11 miles). I am sure of this because I measured the distance with my GPS. The conditions were optimal though, as I was at the top of a hill (400m high) and the other radio was at sea level with no obstructions in between, other than being inside a car.
I must admit that I was very impressed by this result and I can recommend them to anybody. They are not the smallest nor the lightest GMRS radios you can find, but you will not be disappointed. The radios look good quality and the weight, slightly heavier than average, indicate a solid construction and good internal shielding. Battery duration is similar to other Motorola models. I have had many other models of Motorola FRS radios since 2001 (T280SLK, T6250, T5620), but these are clearly the best of them.

Exceptional Sound.......2002-11-07
The Newton M50's from Cambridge SoundWorks are top-notch speakers. I was forced to go out and buy new booklshelf speakers when my old and much out of date pair had decided to retire. I bought these, really more for the look and the fact that they were suttle and would hide fairly well in a room. Well, I have been more than pleased with the execptional sound these speakers release. I love them. Such great sound from such a small speaker... and yes, they do hide well in a room
Great speakers.......2002-09-26
I purchased these speakers a few months ago, and each time I listen to them I'm amazed by the quality. Believe me, size does not matter when it comes to these speakers. I was skeptical that I could get great sound out of little speakers like these, but they won me over. I have other bookshelf speakers that I paid a lot for, and they don't hold a candle to the Cambridge Soundworks M50s.

Customer Reviews:
Fantastic Speakers!!!.......2006-10-14
I've had these speakers for only a single day and I've been completely blown away by the quality of the sound and the craftmanship of these speakers. First of all, the finish is wonderfully smooth and elegant looking. I am suprised by how well designed these speakers are for the price. Sound quality is exceptional: far superior to similiar speakers by Infinity or Polk Audio. Bass is excellent for speakers of this size: tight and controlled without being overpowering. The treble and midrange is well-balanced with great seperation of sound. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of these speakers. These speakers are my first Cambridge Soundworks purchase and I'm sure to be a repeat customer in the future.
Excellent return policy.......2005-03-15
This is sort of an atypical review: I never actually heard these M50 speakers play. You'll have to read the other reviews posted to get a feel for their sound quality. But I have to say that the fit and finish on these was impeccable: the joinery and wood finish was at a level one would expect from fine furniture--flawless joints, miters, and dados. And these are heavy units--11 pounds apiece, according to my bathroom scale.
But what is especially worthy of recognition is that Cambridge SoundWorks took these speakers back--even paid the return shipping on them--because they had posted the incorrect dimensions for them (off by a critical 0.25 inch) on their Web site and, consequently, they would not fit the space I had allocated for them. Within one day, Cambridge had corrected the dimensions on their site, and I received a postage paid return address label that week. They credited my card for the full purchase price after the return was received. Their phone personnel were uniformly helpful, apologetic, and clear in helping solve the problem.
In short, if you are perhaps concerned about buying speakers sight unseen and sound unheard, you needn't be with Cambridge: they made it clear to me that they stand behind their product and are totally committed to customer satisfaction. Rest assured that I will certainly look to Cambridge again when I need speakers because I am convinced that complete customer satisfaction is their overwhelming goal.
Big Sound.......2002-09-26
I can't believe the big sound that these little speakers put out. I got them for my girlfriend as a gift a few months ago, and now I'm picking up a pair for myself. They're replacing the expensive speakers I bought a couple of years ago. Cambridge Soundworks is a great company and I love their stuff.
