Plus, with Nikon's exclusive In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, red eyes may be a thing of the past. The Nikon Coolpix 7600's In-Camera Red-Eye Fix technology automatically detects and corrects red eyes in most typical situations. |
Nikon's exclusive new D-Lighting feature is another new addition that can turn throwaway shots into frame-able memories. The D-Lighting feature can be selected in Playback mode, automatically compensating for insufficient flash or excessive back lighting in order to obtain balanced exposure throughout the frame. The Coolpix 7600 is also equipped with Blur Warning, another feature unique to Nikon, which alerts the user when a shot is compromised by camera or hand shake, allowing another shot to be taken before leaving the scene.
The Coolpix 7600 is also phenomenally easy to use. In fact, it's been designed to appeal not only to beginners of all ages, but also to people who've never even considered buying a digital camera before. A redesigned graphic user interface (GUI) lets the user navigate functions by either menu item list or icon, enabling the beginner to find the right mode at the right moment to achieve the best results, time after time. Furthermore, with a handy new Help button that displays a description for each selected function on the main menu, the process has been made easier than ever before.
 |
|
The 7600's D-Lighting feature allows in-camera compensation for uneven lighting. |
The camera also features a large, bright 1.8-inch LCD screen, making it easy to compose shots and view recorded images at any time. It's been designed to consume much less power, making it possible to take almost twice as many images when using regular AA alkaline batteries.
Like its predecessors, the Coolpix 7600 also features Scene Modes, which allow the camera to adjust to the most typical shooting environments--Sunset, Fireworks, Indoor, Portrait, etc.--with the turn of a dial. The Coolpix 7600 and 7600 also feature an entirely new Scene Mode, Underwater Mode, which produces more satisfying, true-to-life colors when using the optional WP-CP3 waterproof case (case not included--must be purchased separately) to shoot scenes while snorkeling or scuba diving to a depth of 130 feet. This exciting new addition increases the number of Scene Modes to 16.
Creative snap-shooters have the option of five Color Options, enabling the selection of sepia tone, black-and-white, and even cyanotype, for example, to change the entire look and feel of a shot. The 7600 also has 14 MB of internal memory, allowing images to be recorded without additional memory media.
The Coolpix 7600 also makes it easy to capture action in an expressive manner with movie shooting capabilities. It offers a choice of three simplified Movie Modes--TV, Small, and Smaller. (Movies are recorded without sound.) It can also be easily connected to a TV, using the included video cable, to share the fun with friends and family.
The Nikon Coolpix 7600 digital camera makes the entire digital process more convenient. Its PictBridge compatibility makes it possible to print directly to a printer, without the need for a PC. For those who enjoy organizing and sharing their photographs on a computer, Nikon Coolpix cameras ship with Nikon's proprietary PictureProject software, a user-friendly photo-management application designed expressly for use by Nikon Coolpix photographers, which offers a broad selection of cataloguing, editing, and sharing functions. This software package is aimed at providing a central application that is simple, intuitive, and seamless for Coolpix digital photographers.

Don't Buy a Nikon.......2007-08-08
This camera was great when I first got it. Shortly thereafter, it started having a "Lens Error" when I would try to turn it on. I have always been very careful with this camera, but I now get the error every other time I try to use it. Apparently this is a big problem with many different Nikon cameras - even higher end ones. It is very frustrating. I tried to contact Nikon to get this problem fixed when the camera was still under warranty, but never got a response from them.
Very Good.......2007-06-27
I am liking this camera other than the slow shutter speed. I am also having a bit of a problem getting the pictures not to blur (yes, I read the instructions). Other than that, I do like the picture quality. Especially used with the Epson printer.
Coolpix 7600.......2007-05-12
Great pictures but it is a battery killer. Eats batteries up like there is no tomorrow. Did not use the video feature because of this problem.
EXCELENT PRODUCT, THE BEST CAMERA.......2007-05-07

Nikon is a movie camera.......2007-05-07
The camera came with 2 alkaline batteries. They had a short life maybe 6 pictures. Purchased rechargeables which took about 40-60 pictures and movies(I deleted so many practicing, it's a fun camera!). The pictures were really sharp compared to my previous 2mp camera. Really like the movie clip quality and sound. Fit in the palm of my hand(camera only, no case) and the strap is a very handy. Easy to upload pictures. Haven't used all the features. I am very pleased so far. I gave a 4 because I would like to have had a larger lcd. But,I chose the quality rep and the great price.

Not what I expected.......2007-01-03
I was very disappointed with this camera. It does not take good pictures, has alot of lighting issues and the batteries do not stay charged. As a matter of fact, I ended up purchasing a Kodak 710 after christmas to replace this camera.
Nikon Coopix 7600.......2006-09-19
I loved the camera - easy to use and fast processing. However after 6 months I starting getting "LENS ERROR" messages and the camera stopped taking pictures. Nikon said they would charge me $100-150 to fix so I don't think it's worth it. I have had better luck with my Pentax. I guess that's why Nikon stopped making these models after about a year.

First impressions.......2007-08-23
The main reason for choosing this unit among the many existing in the market was its reiability. It has many good points, it is simple to use, needs just on buttom to transfer all the images contained in the card, the speed is not its strongest point but works fine enough. The menu is simple and straightforward with absolute clear instructions. The weak point is its software. It presents a rigid date based folder system which cannot be changed to suit different tastes. It has to be organized after the transfer has been made. A second fault I find is that it does not work with Nikon transfer application and files have to be transferred to the PC using normal copy instructions. For its role as a small substitute of the laptop I have been using till now, it works perfectly as a primary portable storing device. Now it fits into my photo bag when travelling which is quite the advantage I have been looking for.
Slow, but functional.......2007-05-21
This is a good way to store image when you are going to shoot a lot of gb on vacations, travel, etc, but it's not very portable.
- If you need to back-up your CF card, you need to have it plugged into the wall or the batteries will die out (I have an 8gb card; it took about 1.25 hours to upload the whole card to the Coolwalker).
- It's very slow when viewing images.
If you have the money to spend, I'd recommend getting something with a larger viewing area, such as the Epson multi-media products. I don't own any of them, but I've seen them used and they are much nicer and easier to view the images on.
Basic Garbage.......2007-03-25
I was anxious to buy a CoolWalker as soon as they came out. Having bought a new D-100 I could hardly wait to get out and take a zillion pictures. I did buy one and really wish I had not. It is extremely sloooow! Better stick to a 1GB card because the batteries won't make it through a 2GB card. Give up on playback - it is just too slow to be worthwhile at all. Oh yes, forget payback through the TV as it is supposed to do - the pictures look terrible on a standard TV and are very slow to load. Audience will die waiting for the next picture. All in all - it has been a terrible experience. I did solve my problem - I bought an iPod and it works just as advertised. Now I can't even seem to be able to give away the CoolWalker. Best offer I've had was $50. Nikon should stick with what they do well - make cameras. Love my camera, but their software sucks as does the not very cool CoolWalker.
Coolwalker review.......2007-01-12
The Nikon Coolwalker is the only way I have found to view Nikon's NEF raw files in a portable device. The Coolwalker works very well as a viewing device and storage device with one notable exception....it can deplete it's charged battery very quickly. If you buy a Coolwalker, you should consider spending the money in a spare battery right off. Downloading a couple of cards will take awhile and you will need the second battery to get through the day. Hopefully, any update to the Coolwalker will include a more readily available battery, less power consumption and a larger screen. I am happy with the Coolwalker but I could be happier.
A portable harddrive with a view screen.......2006-09-09
It does its job.
I shoot with SD cards. I had to find a CF adapter before I could use it (Ebay -SD cards slips into CF jacket and both slide into Coolwalker). I have used the Coolwalker to upload and download images (and other computer files) on both my Macbook Pro and my PC. I use it for transferring all sorts of data between the 2 machines, like a glorified usb drive :) I have used it on all my trips and it is so much cheaper than buying 60 gigs of SD cards! I've never had any files corrupted or lost and for the sake of on-site backup I've never been disappointed. I've had it for about 6 months and have not had any difficulties the other reviewers mention, knock on wood.
This device would be really cool if you could do more- edit, rename, etc. I've used it to browse pictures on TV, looks great but takes forever (compared to camera to TV) to process from 1 raw photo to the next. The upload from the sd card also take a while- over 20 minutes for 2 gigs. That part is a bit painful, I do it at the end of the day when my camera is charging. The battery doesn't last long but if outlets are plentiful...
All those aforementioned negatives aside when it comes down to it I just want to be able to -see- the shot has been stored. That the Coolwalker does fine.
I recently received a 60 gig ipod and think that I will still bring the CoolWalker along for all my photos. I like the Nikon Camera download to Nikon storage, even if it isn't as cool as the ipod nor does it have as many bells and whistles as some other photo viewers, but then again, as far as the most important issue- data storage- I've never been let down.

Product Description
Nikon's Laser Caddy 500G 6x Roof Prism Laser Rangefinder isn't really a binocular. In asense, with 6x magnification, you might consider it a monocular but it's more. There's a built-in laser mechanism that measures the the distance from you and a viewed object. The Nikon LaserCaddy provides 160 yard ranging ability to the pin which is a golf constant, compared to competitive products which measure distance only to the highly variable and atmospherically dependent flag. It uses a six power monocular with a 20 millimeter objective lens to provide an exit pupil of 3.3mm. The eyepiece is adjustable, with a range of +/- 2 diopters, and the unit has 10mm of eye relief. In addition, the Nikon LaserCaddy has a real angle of view of 6.3 degrees, translating to a wide, 50 degree apparent angle of view and a field of view of 33 feet at 100 yards. The Nikon LaserCaddy measures ranges in yards or meters, and features an automatic power shutoff after the reading has been displayed for eight seconds. It measures 3.5" x 2.5" x 1.5" and weighs 7.0 ounces without battery. It is powered by one CR-2 camera battery that is included with the rangefinder and an internal display shows the user how much battery power is remaining. Invisible/eyesafe Laser Dioper adjustment function Capable of distancing different targets in succession by keeping the button pressed
Amazon.com Review

The Nikon LaserCaddy golf rangefinder is the ultimate tool that should be found in every golfer's bag or shirtpocket. The LaserCaddy delivers high resolution images and incredibly fast, highly precise and consistent distance measurements to the hard-to-range pin. A must-have for second club selection, the LaserCaddy's unequaled level of precision is made possible by Nikon's advanced digital processor and high grade optics. The LaserCaddy is water resistant so that weather is never an excuse. Ease of operation makes this the best choice for any golfer who is serious about their game. You've worked hard on your game. Trust Nikon to help you make it the best it can be.

The water-resistant Nikon LaserCaddy 500G Laser Rangefinder is ultra-compact and convenient to carry, measuring only 3.5 x 2.5 x 1.5 inches and weighing 7.0 ounces without its battery. |
The Nikon LaserCaddy is a highly compact laser rangefinder that will accurately measure distance from 11 yards to over 500 yards with unparalleled precision. It provides 160 yard ranging ability to the pin which is a golf constant, compared to competitive products which measure distance only to the highly variable and atmospherically dependent flag.
This previously unachievable level of precision is made possible by Nikon's advanced digital processor and high grade optics. These features allow all golfers to gauge distance more precisely for accurate second shot club selection under informal conditions or during practice.
The Nikon LaserCaddy features precisely ground and polished lens glass that is multicoated with anti-reflective compounds to improve light transmission, clarity, and color rendition. The unit utilizes a high contrast LCD display to provide fast, accurate targeting against any background or in any lighting conditions. It utilizes a six power monocular with a 20-millimeter objective lens to provide an exit pupil of 3.3 millimeters. The eyepiece is adjustable, with a range of +/- 2 diopters, and the unit has 10 millimeters of eye relief.
It measures 3.5 x 2.5 x 1.5 inches and weighs 7.0 ounces without battery. It is powered by one CR-2 camera battery that is included with the rangefinder and an internal display shows the user how much battery power is remaining.
The Nikon LaserCaddy features an attractive silver external finish and is protected by Nikon's exclusive one-year warranty.
Customer Reviews:
Great range finder.......2007-09-27
I was looking for a range finder for golf and after looking at many different ones, this Nikon seemed to be the most feature packed at the best value. Even though I wasn't able to try it in a store, I was right.
Locks in on laser pins and the scan mode works great. It's funny, now all my golf partners wait for me to come over and give them the exact yardage! First day I used it, I was hitting all my approach shots pin high - Can't live without it now.
Beach Camera delivered fast and as promised.

Nikon Laser Caddy - Good Value.......2007-09-26
I'm an avid golfer who post's upwards of 30-35 rounds per season. Purchased the Nikon 500G Laser Caddy after reviewing many models including Bushnell. Selected the Nikon based on price, reputation for quality optics and most importantly size, the 500G easily fits in a back pant pocket. After using it during several rounds I'm very pleased with the performance of the unit. Accuracy is spot on and provides the advantage of knowing the exact pin placement on the green, not the center of green distance provided by fairway markers. It's a tremendous asset for second shots on par 5's where lay up yardage is not easily determined. The only negative I can relay is the need for a steady hand to get a distance read on a pin from any distance greater than 150 yards. This may take several reads to confirm the yardage but it's still easier than roaming the fairway to find a marker and walking it off from there.
Overall I'm very satisfied with my decision and the price I paid at Amazon, $229 plus $5.58 shipping. The unit showed up in 3 days vis USPS.
Great product, half the price of its rivals.......2007-09-11
I bought this item after reading other reviews and seeing how impressed everyone was by this rangefinder. I recently played golf with someone who had a bushnell pinseeker and saw how easy it was to get a yardage from anywhere. I then searched for prices and saw how much more expensive those were than this Nikon. Went with the Nikon because of size, price and the continuous scan feature which is what I used most of the time to get a reading to the flag from longer distances. Since this feature allows you to pick up the closest object instead of the longer object it is great for getting a reading when there are lots of trees behind the flag stick. No more searching for yardage marking on the fairway and then trying to figure out how far you are from that marking and where the flag is on the green. Just point and click and you know how far from the flag you are. I also used this for readings to the green on par 4 as the course we play was relatively short and I hit the ball over 300yds regularly, allowed me to know better spots to aim so I would not over hit the fairway or greens on holes that played between 310 and 350yds. Rangefinder easily read the flag from 300 to 350 yds.
Another Nikon Marvel!!.......2007-08-31
This compact square device works really well.Yes, you need to steady your hands, and you may need multiple readings, but you do get a reading easily most of the time.It is easy to carry, and the price is resonable compared with the competing products.I use Nikon equipment for my Photography, and this is another great gadget from the company!
First ever Eagle on a par 5 thanks to Nikon.......2007-08-28
This is great. I have absolutely no problems at all using the rangefinder. Last week my playing partner thought it was 250 yards to the flag. The rangefinder corrected us down to 215 yards. He hit his 3 iron to within 1 foot of the flag and putted for an eagle on a par 5.
I procrastinated for months before committing to purchase as a "Fathers Day" present to myself. It is brilliant. The carry pouch must have been updated since earlier reviews because this is top quality.
Everyone is envious, but when I tell them the price (a little over $200) then faces light up.
I am thinking about getting one for my Father as a present.
Thanks Nikon.

Customer Reviews:
Overall, I am very pleased.......2002-12-14
I bought this hard drive from my friendly neighborhood CompUSA one year ago, when it was top of the line. I have to tell you, I am very happy with my purchase. To start, 60GB can accomidate almost anything for any user. Casual users will find the 60GB space storage helpful for their MP3s and other smaller applications. It will assure them that they won't have to upgrade for a long time. Power users, like your's truly, find the price to performance ratio on this 60GB hard drive quite astonishing. For the price, you will NOT find a more powerful and spaceous drive! I use my 60GB to hold all my games, backups, and my 12,000 MP3 collection. I have two other 100gb hard drives and one 200gb hard drive, all from maxtor, running with my 60gb. Just to make it short, I can assure you that I won't be in need of a new hard drive for a LONG TIME. This 60GB hard drive really does make the difference even for people like me.
Not only is it spaceous for just about anyone, but this thing is fast and efficient. Now, you may not suspect that a hard drive will really make much of a difference speed wise, but upgrading your RAM will usually not have much more of an effect than upgrading your hard drive if you choose wisely. This is an ATA drive, so that assures you extra speed. Running at 7200RPM, you know you are getting the almost-fastest out there. But I can tell you this: if you are upgrading from an SCSI hard drive, you are really going to appreciate this drive. It will give you quite a performance increase.
To conclude, this hard drive is spaceous, fast, will suite anyone's needs, all for a great price! It is a sinch to install as well! Go ahead and order this as soon as possible. You will not believe what difference you can make with a Maxtor hard drive!

Maxtor 60 Gig 7200 RPM Review.......2002-06-27
I have lotta Maxtor drives now and this is my 2nd 60 gig one. I also have a 40 gig one. This drive is very reliable and im quite harsh on my drives since I run a server 24/7 on my Maxtor hard drives, and constantly moving, deleting, and downloading files. Once my 60 gig got currupted and i was really scared but with a simple run on check disk utility (included in Windows OS), all was fixed with no data lost.
If yer wondering how much punishment i do on these drives, let's just say i download a minimum of 6 Gigs a day and at the same time also, constantly uploading. Im running most of these drives on Win2k OS and i want to say something about the other guy's review here about this drive running on Win2k....Yes, its kinda hard for this drive to install in Win2k...their install diskette can be quite troublesome...but all you need is to download the right driver for it and go to the Add/Remove hardware if Win2k can't detect this drive and do it yourself manually by installing the right driver.
Don't get me wrong... this drive is built tough & this 60 gig kickass when its on ATA/100 card (its even faster than my 40 gig!) Only problem on this drive sometimes is how you gonna install it. All in all, i reccomend this drive.
Excellent Drive!.......2002-05-16
I selected this drive for the PC I was building and it works great. I've previously owned Western Digital, Quantum, and Maxtor drives.
The drive I received was a Quantum drive in the Maxtor box. This was fine with me for two reasons, 1.) I knew that Maxtor had purchased Quantum's HD unit, and 2.) My 6.4 GB Quantum Fireball is 5 years old and still works fine. Maxtor provides the warranty and support, but I thought the rebadging was something that potential buyers should be aware of.
No Contest.......2002-04-07
Simply Put, Maxtor and Western Digital are the best hard drives going. Don't settle for anything less. 'Nuff Said:)
