unit fried and no customer support.......2007-02-26
Bought the unit 25 months ago at a good price and have been satisfied with the sound quality. Just one month after the warranty expired the unit began smoking and fried. Luckily I was home before a fire started, but the power swith didn't cut it off, had to pull the plug. E-Mailed the manufacturer to see if there was a known defect in the amp or if there was a recall but have gotten no response. As I said, unit was cheap for the sound it put out, but is it worth burning down your house?
Great sound.......2005-12-08
After looking for a decent priced 12" subwoofer, I found this one.
Some people, complain about the sound this... the frequency that... the design here and there.
People: If you want more and better, then pay $400 and up.
Bottom line: This sub has a great sound and decent features for a great price.
Even more, there is nothing else in the market, for the price, with this quality of sound and features, period.
It is a winner in my book.

I'm happy with the purchase. It adds a lot to the lower end and my wife says she can hear it on the second floor (it's in a 700 sq. foot basement). It's got good adjustments (volume, phase)and an auto-on switch so you don't need to touch it once it's setup. I used the THX optimizer from my Toy Story DVD to adjust the volume and am very satisfied.
One concern is that there is a minor buzz, but this goes away when I disconnect the cable from my Sony DB830 receiver so I'm not going to blame the sub for that. You can't turn this *all* the way up as it becomes muddy (a little distorted) but it's more than enough for a Home Theater system. I have it set at about 50% volume and it's perfect.

No thin mids here it's real KICKER bass that can take serious power! Both the 12-inch CVT12 and 10-inch CVT10 easily handle 400 watts RMS (800 peak) without hesitation. A special four-layer voice coil provides the CVT the ability to work with severe amounts of power as do conventional KICKER woofers, without the bulk.
Bold KICKER engineering allowed the breakthrough CVT to hammer with such limited room. The woofer's round, injection-molded cone is shaped to provide maximum excursion from a slender basket. Its new ventless, solid-pole design allows it to be mounted directly against the rear wall of its small sealed or vented enclosure. Also, the spring-loaded binding posts are mounted differently than standard subwoofers to minimize size. Finally, subtract enclosure wall depth from the equation as well with a handy steel clearance adapter plate. These space-saving moves make for woofers with an amazing mounting depth of less than 4-1/2 inches!

This is only the second camcorder I have owned. I've had it for about 2 months. So far, it has exceeded my expecations. I haven't gotten into the details of what you can do with it. But, the picture and the sound on the camcorder have been great. I would definitely recommend it.
Good camcorder.......2006-01-01
I like the features this camcorder has (although I have to confess I didn't buy mine on Amazon). I don't give it full stars because the picture quality just seems average instead of bright and sharp. The analog to digital conversion feature is getting hard to find in camcorders, and lets you run VHS tapes from your VCR through the camcorder and into a PC (or onto the camcorder's digital tape), and that's a major plus with this machine.

This camcorder has been reviewed by several experts and has received very good recommendations. See for yourself at www.dvspot.com or www.camcorderinfo.com.
As for the reviewer that complained about the firewire...ALL digital camcorders use firewire for video transfer to a computer since USB only has a transefer rate of 1,1 Mb/s vs Firewire which has a rate of 400Mb/s. 4 minutes of finished video takes up 4 Gb!!
Nobody would want to transfer video using USB 1. NOBODY, not Sony, JVC, Panasonic, or Canon ships their camcorder with a firewire cable ($14,99 Amazon.com). Please get your facts right before you give a great camcorder 3 stars.
Good camcorder but ...............2005-04-24
I bought this camcorder recently and I am satisfied with its performace. The only reason I am taking off a few ** (stars) from this product is due to the reason that you cannot transfer videos from MiniDV to your computer using USB port. It required IEEE 1394 firewire cable (Cannon does not supply this cable with the camcorder) and a computer which has compatible port (not common in many computers and so you end up buying a suitable card for your computer if you wish to transfer the videos).
