Awsome - don't use portrait mode.......2004-03-07
Great great great monitor. My only complaint is that portrait mode is software driven. I have a 1Ghz PC and it can't keep up with portrait mode, things are slow to refresh. In landscape mode this monitor is amazing. I still can't believe how happy I am with it day after day and this is after owning it for 9 months.

I've worked with this monitor at work to view Digital X-rays, and it's GREAT! I know it's apples and oranges when comparing HI-RES Digital X-Ray monitors ($20K each) to LCD's, but I think that they did an AWESOME job with this monitor. I'm gonna pick one up this week!
Great Monitor.......2003-05-29
Got this to replace a 17" Apple LCD Studio Display and it is nice. I somewhat prefer the look of the apple display, but this thing has dual inputs. So I can hook two computers up at the same time and switch between them with the click of a button. This feature alone would have cost me a ton with the apple monitor to get a DVI switch.
Very nice picture, great auto adjustment features, and the ability to wall mount it is just plain cool.
Would have given it 5 out of 5 except for my one dead pixel. In defense the apple monitor had a dead line, was returned, and the replacement also had one dead pixel. It is very annoying, but something you have to live with in the lcd world.

This is a fantastic monitor!
It features both digital and analog inputs allowing you to use it with VGA or DVI-D outputs. You can use both at the same time and switch between them - great for sharing the monitor between a desktop and laptop.
The ultra-thin frame makes it perfect for multi-displays as well.
Web pages, Word/PDF documents are fantastic when the monitor is pivoted 90 degrees - you get a full page of readable text on a single screen - you'll never go back after tilting!
I've used the panel via ATI RAGE (VGA), nVidia Quadro4 (DVI), and an IBM StinkPad 600E (VGA) and all are excellent. Now I just need to get another pair of these to complete the ultimate productivity desktop!

These two lenses are perfect for a small camcorder like mine. The wide angle lens is just right and does not give a fish-eye effect. The telephoto is nice in that it allows you to stay away from digital zoom as much as possible. You're probably not going to find this two-pack any cheaper than what amazon sells them for.

I purchase these lenses sets for my brand new Sony DCR-405. The result is enhanced factory default setting. The captured angel more wide and zooming twice. Great Kenko Product. Exactly same as descibed of sales description. Cool!

QPS-DVD Burner: Does the Job
I found this product especially difficult to buy. That is, I had to read through a lot of material both before and after my purchase to fully understand what it was I needed, who made it, and where to find it. The easiest part was finding the lowest price.
The difficulty lay in the fact that DVD standards have not yet settled down, and there are several to choose from. These include DVD-RW, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-RAM, and possibly others. There are also single layer and double layer media as well as single sided and double sided media.
Here's what I needed:
· a low cost machine
· that can backup computer files
· and burn DVD's playable on home players
· with appropriate software
What I found was that QPS basically puts a plastic shell around a Pioneer burner thereby making it "external." They bundle it with software and sell it under their own label.
What I got was a machine that can store 4.7 Gb of data or video on a single sided, single layered media using the DVD-RW or DVD-R standard. QPS' bundled software, InCD, conflicts with DirectCD, so you must uninstall DirectCD first. However, I can read my DVD-RW disks in my other DVD-R/CD-RW drive as well as in my DVD drive on a different machine that still uses DirectCD. So I'm quite satisfied.
Software:
InCD works well enough, though you can only eject the media through the software and not through the drive's eject button. I can also create DVD-R disks playable on any of the DVD players I've tried.
On the other hand, I found the software which creates movie DVD's wholly inadequate. When one creates a movie DVD, one wants an application which helps create box covers, disk labels, navigation screens, movie chapters, etc. For an additional hundred bucks, I purchased DVD Complete Deluxe which does all that through a very easy to use interface. If you dream of making your own movie DVDs, you'll want to spend the extra hundred bucks.
Performance:
In addition, QPS' DVD-RW formatting and data copying processes are "slow" (slow being relative). It take about an hour to format a DVD-RW disk, and longer to convert and burn a DVD movie. If you don't need speed, and you're prepared to buy your own DVD burning software (or are willing to settle for less), then this machine does a great job!
Other:
I was happily surprised to find that one can chain multiple firewire devices through this machine. However, I was disappointed that the included six pin to six pin firewire cable was not compatible with my four pin Sony VAIO port. I had to buy a four pin/six pin cable for another twenty or thirty bucks. The additional two pins simply provide power to devices that don't have their own power source. This drive, as one might expect, requires its own power source. No big deal, though. The product documentation "prepared" me for this, and I had the appropriate cable in hand by the time UPS delivered my machine.
Now I just have to hope I bet on the right side of the "standards" battle.
Unreliable Product/Inaccesible Customer Service.......2002-05-04
First of all the product was on back order. Then when I did get the product, the software listed in the box and the manuals (Roxio Easy CD creator, Toast) did not match the ones provided in the installation CD (Ahead NERO). This was very confusing. So I tried to call QPS and had a hard time getting through. However, someone did return my call and sent me a CD with the Easy CD Creator & Toast. This was the only positive thing that happened.
Then I realized that the NERO software does the same thing as the Roxio software. So I loaded NERO v QPS 5.5.7.8 from the installation CD, however it did not work. QPS customer service was difficult to get hold off and when I did connect wasn't of any help. I then downloaded v 5.5.8 from NERO and it did work. Then I had problems with the drive not ejecting the CDs and sometimes turning DVD-RW into a DVD-ROM despite using the right software (InCD) to transfer data. On the whole, I am fed up and I am getting ready to return the product. It wasn't worth the trouble.

I'm a fan of HP photo printers and photo paper. There's no way you can tell if the photo was not developed at a kodak studio. Digital photography is here for real.
I used this with HP PSC 1210 all-in-one (see my review there). Am more than satisfied with the results.
However, there is a flip side to it. Photos printed on glossy paper tend to stick to the cover in some photo albums. If this happens to you, switch to matte finish paper.

Light is good, Lamp is bad.......2005-01-21
I've owned this lamp twice, neither of them lasted longer than 1 to 1-1/2 years.
The light this lamp puts out is great. Bright, sees colors accurately, doesn't hurt my eyes. All that Ott-lite claims to be. The construction of the lamp arms and clamps themselves are very poor, they are what rendered my lamps to be useless.
First lamp I've had problems with the light turning on, or staying on. Once in a while it will just turn off when it has been on for a while. (and it isn't the bulb since about 15-30 mins later you can turn it back on) Sometimes it will not turn on without repeated tries. After awhile I noticed that if I turn on another appliance that's plugged into the same outlet, I will be able to turn it on (voltage change maybe?) At first I thought it was the bulb and I've tried replacing the bulb, same result.
Finally, what really broke the lamp was the hinge on the base of the lamp. The plastic bits that connected the base of the lamp to the flex arm broke off, and the lamp will not stand even while it is clamped to the book case.
My second lamp just broke yesterday, exactly the same way the first lamp had. However I've had no problems turning this lamp on, or making it stay on. I didn't have to change the bulb. The light is in working condition, just that now it won't stand on it's own and is now useless to me.
All the electrical components of the lamp worked as advertised. I just wish the plastic bits is as sturdy as the rest of the lamp.
What I would recommend is to just get a regular lamp, and buy their bulb. There are two models of bulbs that screw into regular screw socket. One's the "vision saver" series, the other is the "true color" series. They are designed to replace a 100 watt bulb, but only use 20 watts of energy. These bulbs are expensive but they would be a better investment than having to replace a whole lamp in a year or two.
Gotta run and see what I should do with that working but useless lamp...

I bought the Ott-Lite despite the poor reviews on this Amazon page because I needed a light and was willing to try it knowing the potential risk. It came quickly, the box was a little crushed, probably in the warehouse at Amazon. The lite itself, however, is excellent. After using it for three weeks I have had none of the flickering problems mentioned in the other reviews. Also, the light is natural, easy on the eyes, and frankly, more illuminating than other types of lighting. I spend a lot of time at my desk and I find this light fantastic.

I loved this lamp when I first purchased it. I purchased two more for friends who sew. Unfortunately, two out of three of the lamps do not work because of a defective ballast. Replacement for the ballast alone is expensive and the company will not stand behind their product because the warranty has expired, even though these lamps have not been used very much. I understand the warranty issue but they obviously have a problem they refuse to deal with. I will not be buying another Ott product. They are way too expensive for the few hours used.

For the second time, I'm packaging up this light for return (at least Amazon makes that part easy). As with my original purchase, this replacement is defective. The light will only work when I spend a few minutes wiggling the bulb, and then it only stays on for intervals of a few minutes at a time. When it works, it emits a wonderful light, and I love the design of the lamp (desk clamp-on model). Too bad the manufacturer hasn't worked out the quality control issues. My experience makes it extremely unlikely that I will ever purchase another product from this manufacturer.
flicker is a huge problem.......2002-05-14
Read customer reviews of other OTT lights and you'll see that I'm not the only person whose OTT light flickers. The light has a blue hue, which is actually pleasant for reading, but the flicker is so bad that it hurts my eyes. The flicker developed after about 1 week and is NOT subtle, it's practically flashing (when I turn off overhead lights in the room it's clearly flashing like a strobe light). I asked my company to buy a replacement light for me and when it arrived, same thing happened. It started flickering after about 1 week (I didn't keep it on constantly either, I just use it every now and then to read). Some people have posted that they don't have this problem, and that's why I think OTT has quality defects. Maybe it's the bulbs or the power supplies, whatever...Be Warned about flicker. My company bought this for me. I would never shell out this much for a clamp-on light myself, but if for some insane reason I did I would've returned this a long time ago. Right now it's sitting in a drawer while I use a "traditional" clamp-on light that costs much less $$$.
