I Purchase this product a month ago and I'am so happy with it, Best ad vise is to get good speakers. If possible planing on getting a speaker package that's include subwoofer. Sourround sound is excellent, the only thing is that I had to pretty much bug the Comcast people/ The Cable Company to activated it, and it now work great with my digital cable package, save me a $4.50 monthly on leasing cable box.

I bought this because of all of the different features. However, I soon discovered that it is a big piece of junk. After watching two DVDs in a row (ONLY 2), it sparked and I had to run to unplug it before it caught fire.

I had a Motorola unit which no longer worked. After shopping around for another unit in stores I realized I should try to replace the unit I had since it has everything I wanted including the DVD player. I was extremely pleased to find one for sale at a great price delivered to my door!

I am very pleased with this product. I like the fact that it is an all in one system (including CATV tuner). My only negative is that the unit is very large (long in length). I use it to drive an infocus IN72 projector using s-video and surround sound speakers.

good value - great sound.......2007-01-27

Not sure what all the gripe is about with this unit. I have had mine over a year and it hasn't had any of the problems others have stated (maybe I'm lucky). No sound distortion, clean crisp at high volumes (I'm using Precision Audio ceiling speakers). Good radio station pickup. Good dvd performance. I really enjoy the Dolby Prologic II- as even our ITunes files get surround sound.

That said, the only issue I have had is when i turned the powerbar off while the unit was still on. When restarted sound only came out of one speaker and not all five. I got through right away to Motorola and they were very helpful and gave me a short set of instructions to go about resetting the unit- it now works good as new... below are those instructions for anyone who needs them:

1. put the unit in DVD mode.
2. power off using the button on the front of the unit (do not use the remote)
3. Hold down the setup button and the 'down' button at the same time
4. While holding those buttons, press the power button on the unit
5. Release all three buttons at the same time
Unit should power up in the FM mode and be reset. Motorla says if it doesn't come up in the FM mode, try again.

NEVER RECEIVED PRODUCT.......2007-09-08

I have waited over a month for the item to arrive but despite several emails to the merchant I have had no luck. The merchant sent an email to me describing an elaborate shipping method they use that may take up to 21 days, however it has been over a month now from when the original purchase was made. Considering that shipping was not free on my end I am disappointed completely with the purchase to say the least.

Conventional digital-to-analog conversion methods reduce digital pulse noise at the conversion stage but can't remove it completely. Previously only found on Onkyo's high-end components, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) employs a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted between sampling points and these points are joined with analog vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form. Mine died after less than two years of very little use. One day, the tray just opened and started spinning and does not stop even if you turn it off using the power button!?!

Good DVD Player, but Not All its Cracked Up to Be........2006-08-15

Just purchased the Onkyo DV CP702 to replace my Onkyo CV C-601. The picture quality of the new unit is excellent, resulting primarily from progressive scan circuity. Audio playback of CD's is also improved over my previous model.

There are two problems with this unit based on evaluating it for the past couple of weeks. First, the remove control sensor has a limited vertical and horizontal field. I find myself having to hit remove buttons more than once to get a response back from the DVD player.

The biggest disappointment is in Onkyo's inability to play JPEG files. I loaded a CD with .JPEG files, and although the Navigator came up and worked as it should, when it came to looking at an individual picture of starting a slide show, the unit scanned each picture line by line, resulting in it taking over 30-seconds for a complete picture to be displayed. I contacted what Onkyo calls Customer Support. After waiting 21-minutes to be helped, I was told by the Representative of the company "that's the way it works, and there's nothing you or we can do about it".

Since Onkyo is obviously aware of the limitations of this DVD player in presenting .JPEG file ls in a "reasonable" amount of time, I believe it has a responsibility to report this to customers in their product description, so that customers would be able to use this information in making a choice as to spending $165 for this DVD player, that it some respects cannot perform things like playing .JPEG files as good as a $60 JVC or Sony (entry level) unit is capable of doing.

I will be returning this because dissatisfaction of the product and misrepresentation on the part of the company as to its capabilities. I've been a loyal Onkyo owner for nearly a decade, however, this experience will result in my having to reevaluate my trust and confidence in Onkyo as a viable manufacturer of consumer electronic equipment.

I was looking for a speaker for my iPod for use (strictly) in my office.
I have the Bose stereo at home which I love but that seemed like overkill (in quality and price) for my 10 x 12 office.
This product is perfect for my needs--it's a great size (utilizing very little desk space), has charging capacity, allows for easy display of the iPod screen, and seems to have very good quality of sound.
My only reason for giving it less than 5 stars: the volume dial is VERY sensitive...anything more than a slight movement can take it to a deafening level (which is not that well-received in the work setting).
Although this stereo does not come with a remote, you probably don't need one if you're going to use it in a small area (such as an office) where you do little moving around!

I was looking for a small set of speakers that were portable. What I got with the Nyko Speaker Dock II was a stylish and portable set of speakers that have excellent sound for the money. I love how my Ipod looks sitting on the stand. Great for viewing videos or listening to music. When plugged in you're also charing your Ipod. I was able to dock my Video Ipod with its case. The Nyko is white with black speaker covering, looks good with a white or black ipod.

After seeing a good review for this item in a magazine. I figured what the heck. I needed a dock, (Apple as always way over the top in price) and I wanted a compact system to listen to my ipod on a desk top. The Speaker Dock 2 far exceeded my expectations. Its a dock for charging, its a stand for watching videos, and for its size has unbelievable sound. Its no Bose system, but it delivers a great sound at a very reasonable price.
I still give it 5 stars even though I have one improvement suggestion. Rechargeable, that would have really put the icing on the cake. But the "Sony BCG-34HRMD4 Super Quick Charger with LCD Indicator and 4 AA Batteries Makes this a perfect setup.

Does not support new Nano (2nd gen).......2006-12-30

This is a nice device and the reviews support my observation that it offers a great sound in a very small size. It does not, however, work well with the 2nd generation Nano. It fits the dock but the clear platic (interchangeable) sleeve does not support this particular Nano. A call to customer service indicates that they have little intention of making a clear plastic support for the new Nanos. Nyko is phasing out their entire iPod accessory line.
