Two-tuner picture-in-picture with split-screen display lets you view two programs at once by dividing the screen in half down the middle. Each program is shown at full height, with one program on the left side and the other on the right. High-quality, 8-bit P-I-P Image Processing provides 256 levels of gray from black to white in the inset picture for finer image detail.

Progressive Cinema Scan (3/2 pulldown) provides faithful reproduction of film-based materials. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24-frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; Progressive Cinema Scan digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.

A motion-adaptive 3D Y/C digital comb filter displays bright colors and action scenes with incredible clarity by minimizing the "color rainbow effect" in closely spaced patterns, compensating for the motion that occurs between fields. Included 10-bit, 60 MHz analog-to-digital image processing boosts conventional grayscale from 256 to 1024, to deliver four times as many shades of black and white.

Digital velocity-modulated scanning is advanced circuitry along the neck of the CRT that senses transitions from black to white in the video signal. The black-and-white portions of the signal are sped up and slowed down, respectively, resulting in sharp black-to-white transitions. For a more filmlike picture when watching movies, you may want to selectively turn off this circuitry.

Other picture enhancements include a wideband video amplifier, horizontal and vertical edge correction, video noise reduction, Artificial Intelligence Picture settings, and a Progressive Scan Doubler function that upconverts 480i signals to seamless 480p resolution.

The set's ample connections also include four composite-video, three S-video inputs (including one each on the set's front panel for easy camcorder or game console hookup), and two sets of high-resolution component-video inputs.

The set uses three speakers: a stereo pair plus a built-in passive subwoofer for extra bass heft. The speakers get 15 watts per channel (x 2), and the set also offers fixed- and variable-level audio outputs, Artificial Intelligence Sound Control (to prevent unwanted variances in sound level), BBE High-Definition Sound (improves speech intelligibility and restores musical dynamic range), and BBE ViVA HD3D simulated stereo sound (which works with both stereo and monaural programs).

Other features include video-input and channel labeling, 16-preset favorite channels, a lighted-disk universal remote control (which can be programmed to control many current video and audio devices), and a headphone jack (for private listening or late-night viewing).

32 inch Panasonic PureFlat Screen.......2004-04-24

I am disappointed with the quality of this TV. I had a 27 inch Panasonic that received a much better picture. There is a line running vertical through the center of the TV, about an inch thick, which distorts the picture. When I increase the volume, white noise becomes very apparent. I am forced to run the TV sound through my stereo system to compensate. I have a service man coming out today. Hopefully, these problems are covered by warranty, otherwise, I will be looking at a $300 service call (estimated), and then the cost of parts. I have always liked Panasonic products, but this TV set was quite a bit of money, and I wish I had made a different choice, even if it would have cost more.

One of the best TVs.......2004-02-12

I actually ordered this TV from Amazon and used the Eagle Freight delivery. The process went surprisingly smooth considerig I have not had very good experiences with freight delivery companies. The item took a week and a half (as estimated by Amazon) and was delivered promptly at the appointed time.

First of all, as people have mentioned, this TV weighs a ton. It took three guys to bring it up to the second floor and set it on the TV stand.

The TV quality is very good. I have a Hughes E86 HD DirecTV receiver and off-the-air HD singal and you can instantly see the improvement on HD movies/shows. It was a treat watching the superbowl in HD especially the half time show. :)

I have to say though that this TV does not seem to handle non-HD programming too well. Sometimes, it looks worse than the 25" TV it replaced. However, I have not yet calibrated the TV so that could be a big part of it. The PIP is a cool feature and very easy to control including resizing, moving, freez framing, etc...

The number of AV connections are plentiful with 2 component videos, 1 digital, 4 composites. All of them with audio inputs. I used to feed all my AV signals into my Yamaha receivers but with all the connections available on the TV, I now have them all connected directly to the TV.

The remote is pretty awesome and can control pretty much all of my components. The one thing I could not get it to work was the ASPECT button. I have to navigate through the menu. I have a call in to Panasonic support. Also, the TV does not seem to remember the ASPECT ration setting. The component selection always seem to default to 16:9 even if I set it to 4:3. This may be an oversight on my part but if there is a way to keep the setting, its not very obvious.

Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the audio since I have all the audio fed into my 6.1 receiver.

Overall, its an excellent TV and certainly worth the $ especially since its few hundred $ cheaper than the equivalent Sony. The only reason for a 4 star is the issue with the screen ASPECT as mentioned.

BTW, I hear some people recommending a 16:9 HD TV over a 4:3. After having this TV for about a month now, I'm glad I got this TV. If you watch local HD channels, you'll get a good mix of HD and non-HD programming. I think for this type of viewing, 4:3 actually works out better. Of course for DVDs and HD movies, I usually change the setting to 16:9.

good until it breaks.......2003-12-10

almost any HGTV looks good....until something goes wrong. Mine is less than two years old, and the only color on the screen is now green....no red, no blue, etc. Panasonic referred me to a local "certified repair shop" so far, that has cost me $205, and the repair lasted less than one hour. They are coming back to try again. Note the only thing Panasonic will pay for after one year is a picture tube...and so far, that isn't the problem as DVDs work well and the color is good.

great TV overall, but with a few issues.......2003-10-29

I bought this TV almost exclusively for DVDs and video games, and it looks really fantastic. Both my DVD player and game console support 480p (p = progressive) and the image is crisp and clear. If you've never owned an HDTV, as was my case, the quality will astound you.

The sound coming out of the TV is quite good for built-in speakers. Also the VIVA BBE 3D sound processing mode does add a ton of depth to the output. I normally turn it off, since I'm a purist and it tends to drown out speech, but for action movies and such it does punch it up a bit.

Overall, this TV made me very happy. However, I do have a few issues that I'll outline below point by point.

HORIZONTAL "WOBBLE"
If you look closely you'll notice that the horizonatal scan lines on this TV tend to shift from left to right in a non-uniform manor. I'd best describe it as a nervous jitter, and makes the image swim. Initially I thought something was wrong with my unit, but a later inspection of the floor model revealed the same artifact.

To be honest the effect is not noticeable under normal usage. I first saw it when I was doing calibration with some THX test patterns. It's also noticeable in menus with high contrast edges. For example, the TV menu itself, or some game menus. And again, only when you're close up.

NON-PROGRESSIVE SIGNALS
I was somewhat surprised with the line doubler in this unit, as interlacing was readily apparent in 480i signals. I'm not sure how it stacks up to other built-in doublers, since I don't watch TV, but I figured it would look better.

BAD UNIT
Initially I wasn't going to mention this in my review, but the first unit I received was no good. The tube was arcing and would pop/flash every now and again. After getting a tech to look at it, my store replaced the unit no charge.

Normally something like this I'd chalk up to delivery, or mishandling from the store I purchased the TV from, but the other reviewer seemed to have similar problems. Maybe that's the case for both of us, but you never know.

Best 28mm Lens For Rangefinder Cameras Currently Available, But............2007-02-25

This is without question one of my favorite Leica M mount rangefinder camera lenses, and definitely among Leica's finest. The Leica 28mm f2 Summicron-M Aspherical wide angle lens is the best fast 28mm lens that's currently available, capable of making excellent images in both low light and bright light conditions. The 28mm lens has especially become a favorite one for fine art "street" documentary photography (Some recent examples of mine can be seen at www.tamarkin.com/gallery.htm, which are images from two New York City demonstrations held last year.) but it is also suitable for a wide array of applications ranging from architectural to landscape photography. It is definitely tack sharp wide open at f2, and its optical performance only improves slightly from f2.8 onwards. However, is it truly worth its extravagant price now that Leica has issued for approximately half price, a f2.8 Elmarit-ASPH lens that is more compact than this one, and performs nearly as well (A better bargain might be had too by purchasing instead the Zeiss ZM 28mm f 2.8 Biogon which currently sells for approximately one-third the price for the 28mm f2 Summicron.)? That's truly a difficult question to answer, and one which only you, the potential user, can answer well. Clearly if price is no object, then this superb lens is definitely worth acquiring.

The 28mm f2.8 Elmarit-M lens has been overlooked lately, in comparison with its faster 28mm f2 Summicron sibling, and perhaps rightfully so, since the latter is among Leica's best wide angle lenses for its M mount rangefinder cameras. However, this 28mm lens is a fine performer in its own right, favored by many documentary photographers and photojournalists for its fine sharpness and contrast, and wider angle of view than the typical 35mm lens used by most Leica M photographers (For example, I have seen excellent work produced with this lens by distinguished Magnum Photos photographer Bruce Gilden.). Unless you need the extra speed - and expense of the 28mm f2 Summicron, then this 28mm lens may be more suitable for general purpose wide angle rangefinder photography. However, if you are interested in excellent optical value at a more reasonable price, then the new Zeiss Ikon ZM Carl Zeiss 28mm f2.8 Biogon may be a more attractive alternative (It offers the same optical performance as the 28mm f2.8 Elmarit-M, but at a substantial fraction of the Leica lens' cost.).

Although this cordless phone is only 2.4GHz, it works very good and the price is incredible. I bought six and gave them as gift to friends and relatives.

Don't bother!.......2007-07-23

I bought this phone about a year ago as it was the right price for what I wanted. The sound has never been good (lots of static) and has got worse over the year. It is now totally broken, I cannot dial out and there is no ring when calling in. Very dissapointing, I thought Motorola would be a safe bet, but I won't be buying this brand again.

The Opposite of Good is..........2007-07-07

In the almost three years of having owned this phone it's only been solid 2 months. The answering machine function is reliable - hence the two stars. Motorola did send a (free) replacement battery which lasted as long as the first: 6 months. You'll get 30 seconds of use from your phone for every 30 minutes it's charged. (So make sure your phone calls are short so it doesn't cut you off)

Look elsewhere.

Decent phone for the money.......2007-06-23

This baby has come down in price and is easy to find sales on. The phone works well. I have yet to get a message to test the answering machine as I just got it on June 22nd. Set up was easy enough. The booklet was rather easy to follow. My one complaint with it is that the display text is very small. Other than that, no complaints.

Don't buy this phone.......2007-06-23

As always I have bought this phone since It was under very nice deal. I was lucky that I bought it from the store atleast I could return it and got my money back without paying shipping charges.

The phone really stinks. We always heard complains from both way, My parents could not hear the voice of the other person, and the others replied the same. They often end up calling on cell phone.

One other weired thing was you will hear the "whistling" sound from the headset. If you know how a Mic provides a sund during testing, the similar sound it provided. It was so annoying that you can not even speak few words.

It did not take a long time for me to realize that the phone was not even worth paying that much amount.

One more thing the phone lacked was a speakerphone.

Also the functionality of the phone was very poor. Some times I wanted to dial any number I would see channel 6, sometimes I would see channel 30, every time diffrent numbers. I spent quite a while figuring out the logic behind it, but I couldn't.

The over all sound quality is very poor, the functionality is very poor and the look is also not at all attractive.

Amazon did a great job both on sending and the return for this item.
If you have MicroSoft Vista Ultimate, you should look elsewhere for a bluetooth USB adapter.
I was looking to add BlueTooth to my Durabook N15RI. I was disappointed that the Durabook does not support Bluetooth and that the Linksys adapter wouldn't work with Vista because I've been very pro-Linksys.
I was not going to rate the product since it does not work on my laptop.
But, Amazon requires a rating in order for me to post this.

Unusable with Plantronics Pulsar 590E.......2007-08-15

Although I could connect to the headset, the audio would only work for a few minutes until it went silent, where I'd then have to stop/start the Linksys adapter and reconnect. After trying to upgrade the Bluetooth software, My Bluetooth Places stopped working and the problem remained. Buy the Anycom adapter instead of Linksys. Although Anycom uses the same Bluetooth stack, installation is cleaner, range is better, and the audio is clear.

When I first bought this product it was great and worked well then after 2 weeks of use the antenna connected to the device breaks off and did not work. When I called Linksys about the problem they called it and I quote "The device must have been put under unusual conditions." They also refused to give my money back. Well in the trash it goes!
