Good printer, toner costs are actually not high!.......2004-07-02

An earlier reviewer complaining about toner costs missed a point about the Samsung. The Samsung toner cart is a combined toner/drum cartridge. The Brother printers have seperate toners and drums. From experience, you need to replace the Brother drum after about 15k pages, not the 20k they rate the drums at. So every 4-5 cartridges, you need a new drum too. The combined Samsung cart is about 50% more than the equiv Brother, but if you get the Brother, you will spend the "savings" on a drum later. That said, both the Samsung and equiv Brother are great printers, just make sure your Brother drum doesn't run out during a project, or your local office supply chain store will charge about 50% more for the drum than Amazon (about as much as 2 Samsung carts).

Toner too expensive.......2004-06-18

In interests of full disclosure, I chose not to buy this printer due to toner costs. Just check those costs before you buy. A 3000 page toner costs $79, versus $54 for the toner of an equivalent Brother (say the HL1440 which I have owned) or $70 for a 6000 page Brother toner. I think Samsung is known to do this "make the profit in the refills" for this printer.

Excellent Choice.......2004-06-10

This is my first laser printer, and I'm amazed at how quickly it prints compared to my old inkjet. Text quality is great and the printer is very easy to set up. Mac users be warned, even though the specs say Macs are supported, Samsung ships this printer with a small card inside saying that any reference to Mac support should be disregarded and offers to buy back the printer because of this afterthought. Overall, an excellent value.

Best Laser Printer.......2004-06-04

This is truly a fantastic investment. The picture quality is very sharp. It prints amazingly fast. Can do almost everything a professional quality printer could. It's so small it fits perfectly in my desk. It also goes into sleep mode to preserve the toner. Get this printer. The 1750, this one, is the newest model from samsung.

Excellent economy choice........2003-10-07

I just purchased a ML-1750, and so far it's great! The toner-save mode is quite handy, and still creates very legible text, just slightly lighter than normal mode. One wouldn't notice the difference except side-by-side, so it's well worth the 40% toner savings claimed by Samsung. The included toner prints only 1000 pages; 3000 pages is the yield for a regular cartridge, at around $80, a pretty good deal.

The printer is fast and setup was easy. Note that a USB cable is not included. As mentioned, it is somewhat light, so you have to hold onto the printer when inserting the toner/paper cartridges, but this is not much of an issue.

It does also take about 20 seconds to warm-up. The power-save timeout is configurable, however, as are many other options. The included drivers are excellent in that regard; features include poster mode, multi-page per sheet, zoom, etc.

The only complaint I have is regarding paper handling: it's not totally straight, so pages can come out just very slightly skewed. Make sure the guides in the paper tray are properly setup (a bit of a trick, because you can only have it in one very tiny "click" before 8.5" won't fit anymore), and it's not off by more than 1 or 2 mm, but otherwise.. it bounds on unacceptable. This could have been easier to setup. The manual paper feed seems like it might have similar issues, although I haven't had an opportunity to totally test it yet.

Great portable wireless router.......2007-08-25

This is one of the best products I've purchased. The item performs all the wireless router functions as expected. It's great that you can switch between 3 different wireless modes, thought I probably will only use one mode. However, what made this router exceptional is the design of the hardware. I already expected it to be small before I get it, but this baby is TINY! I also love DLink allows the router to be powered via USB port. Many portable electronics today use USB to charge/power, so I already carry a USB charger with me whenever I travel. So I do not need to carry another power adapter just for the DLink. Both points made this router a perfect travel companion for road warriors. If you travel frequently, you will LOVE this product.

A convenient way to carry your own WiFi.......2007-08-20

I've used this handy device many places where there has been a router available but no wireless connection. It's quick and easy to plug in and connect to. The range is wonderful as well. In one location the modem was in an upstairs bedroom. I plugged in the pocket router and everyone could get on line anywhere in the house. Having all three modes available is convenient so it can be used anywhere.

Great router, bad documentation!.......2007-08-03

First, this router is tiny... smaller than most usb wifi adapters! I was quite suprised when I opened up the box.

I am using it in client mode for my Xbox 360 and it work perfectly after I finally got it setup.

Setup was a bit challeging as some other people have noted, in client mode, you MUST enter your computer's MAC into your routers mac filter, versus the router's MAC. This tripped me up for 15 minutes, until I finally realized and entered the wired computer's MAC. Also, make sure not to enable DHCP on the router itself unless you don't need to access it's menu (versus it's default address of 192.168.0.30) unless of course you need a different address range. DO enable DHCP on your computer though if your network uses DHCP.

Anyway, great product, once setup, it converts any wired computer/device to a wifi connection with no config/drivers.

smallest travel wireless router.......2007-07-27

I have now purchased about 8 of these for my travel, for my kids dorm rooms, for my house and for my employees. I keep one in my travel bag for all trips. It is plug and play and makes every room into a wireless location, freeing you to move around vs. being tied to a desk and its the smallest router I've found yet and best of all you don't have to do anything but plug it in when you arrive to any location.

Perfect for the traveller.......2007-07-19

If you require internet on more then one device while you are travelling, and now a days, who doesn't, with mobile phones, blackberries, pdas, laptops, etc. This is exactly the device you have been waiting for. Small and comes with a great travelling case. The device can be used as a router or an Access point so you are set for anything. No troubles with range, especially if you stick to within your hotel room (or suite).
