Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars GREAT CABLE.......2007-03-11

This cable was cheap, but very good quality and it will get the job done.

3 out of 5 stars I may be wrong, so read with a grain of salt.......2006-06-28

After installing the S-Video Cable, the sound on my DVD player deteriorated badly. HOWEVER -- the unit is several years old and S-Video was brand-new at the time. Perhaps, despite an appropriate output, the older unit isn't able to handle the high power of the newer cable?

4 out of 5 stars There isn't any difference - but these are good quality and reasonably priced.......2006-05-23

I was skeptical about any difference between Monster cables and any other brand. I've used s-Video for my DVD/TV hookup as well as my Panasonic Palmcorder to DVD Recorder.

I previously used an RCA brand and a Panasonic cable (a retail cable, not an "included with camcorder" cheapie). I did not notice any a difference in performance upon connecting the Monster cable. I switched back for a few minutes and again noticed no performance change, and no performance increase when reconnecting the Monster cable.

I did not buy the Monster top of the line, but the average THX certified $16.99 Monster cable.

I do not have audiophile type equipment - an average Panasonic TV, a $500 range Panasonic home theater, and a $250 Panasonic DVD player/recorder, so I'm not dealing with hyper senstive equipment that requires ultra-quality cables.

I would recommend these if you need new or additional cables, but I would not buy them just to try and improve your signal, as you probably won't see any improvement. Price wise they are only a little more than other cables and they seem to be good quality.

5 out of 5 stars Very Clear.......2005-07-04

This is the best s-video cable I've ever used. I'm seeing my movies like never before, it's clear like component. Best of all it's really strong. It's so durable that even after some of the tiny prongs bent after the cable was abused, the metal bent back into place and the picture looks perfect. This Monster cable is definitely not overpriced.

5 out of 5 stars 20 Bucks I'm sold!!.......2005-02-11

I will be the first to admit that I don't have the best vision in the world and that I need to make an eye appointment with the optometrist. So with that said..... This cable is great and it really does make a difference compared to standard monster RCA plugs. I mean, Star Wars Episode I and II aside, has George Lucas ever steered us wrong before?? Has he?? The answer I'm looking for is No, people. I think that if anyone knows picture quality it would be this guy. I really believe that I can see the difference. Well I am using a $600 progressive scan DVD player, and a $1500 HDTV so that might have something to do with my amazing clarity!! Or maybe I just don't know what the heck I'm talking about.

5 out of 5 stars Monster Cable THX V100 SV-8 S-Video Cable.......2007-09-08

Works great, made with tough cable. heavily insulated to keep line safe from smashing and prevent interference. pinns are very sturdy too. Well worth the extra few bucks for quality.

4 out of 5 stars Big difference over standard cables.......2006-08-22

It is amazing what a good Monster cable can do to your sound quality. I should have bought this a long time ago.

4 out of 5 stars Expensive but good.......2006-01-29

Had tried an S-video cable for video display from a computer before, with not much luck. Turns out a higher quality shielded cable does make a difference.

Metrobility's "redundant twister" interface provides redundant data paths for path protection and restoration. An essential connectivity tool for high priority and mission-critical applications, it provides fully redundant data paths as well as power supply redundancy, for Ethernet, Fast Ethernet or Gigabit devices. If the primary connection fails due to a cable or hardware failure, the "redundant twister" interface switches the device's traffic to the secondary connections within 200 microseconds.Intelligent "redundant twister" models also deliver Managed Network-on-Demand capability for mission-critical applications. Managed Network-on-Demand allows the "redundant twister" media converter to be configured to operate in either Dynamic Recovery Mode (DRM) to ensure session integrity and increase uptime, or in Network Select Mode (NSM) to redirect traffic and add security through link isolation. And with SONAR, or Switch on No Activity Received, the interface not only monitors for loss of link on the active port, but will also monitor for traffic. With SONAR, if the active port remains idle for a given amount of time (configurable for 1-31 seconds) the resilient technology of the redundant interface will verify activity on the secondary port, and switch traffic to that port once traffic is detected. This prevents a switch or switch port failure from bringing down the network or any part of it.

4 out of 5 stars Great sound, but very delicate system.......2006-12-22

Have owned this system for 3 years, still sounds awesome. The walls shake while watching movies with effects soundtracks. Amazing how the sound comes from the little speakers, which my wife loves because they replaced much bigger speakers with prior system. I have to say, I experienced the same problems as other reviewers initially. Popping noise and then shutting down. Found out that if any of the wires are exposed, will cause a short out of system. In my case it was the existing speaker wires had one small finishing nail thru them(hidden behind trim)which caused problem. Rewired and have had no problems since. My prior system was run through a top of the line Pioneer AV tuner that never had any problems. Like I said, system is very delicate but great sound.

1 out of 5 stars Nothing But Junk!.......2005-11-02

System developed a "popping" & "crackling" sound and would shut itself down.Tried changing cables, cleaning inside reciever, this did not help. Would work for maybe 10 mins and POP & Crack and shut itself down. Paid almost $1000.00 for something I can not use. Onkyo will not return emails. Extremely bad Customer Service!!

      1 out of 5 stars Don't Buy!.......2004-04-07

Bought this system, on recommendation, in June 2003. System developed a "popping" sound and would shut itself down. By the beginning of August 2003, I finally got the replacement system and the same problem occurred two months later - October 2003. Since Novemeber 2003, I have been contacting Onkyo, by email & faxing, to have this system replaced, and they have not responded to me. To me, a bad system and bad customer service means a bad company. It is now April 2004 and I still have this broken down system sitting in the corner of my bedroom!

      5 out of 5 stars Highly recommended!.......2006-07-16

Had this for a year, it's been excellent. Couldn't really compare in the stores, too much other noise, so bought it based on reviews like this one. More than enough power, great bass, also we were pleasantly surprised to find the dvd player gives an even better high quality image than our former Panasonic. Easy to understand set up instructions too. Only drawback is that the speaker hookups in the back are kind of close together, especially if you have the fat Monster Cable connectors like we do. Also, the different sound modes are not really explained in the manual, you have to experiment to see what you like. We are happy with this!

5 out of 5 stars Searched a long time, and here it is.......2005-04-05

Went to stores and heard a lot of HTIB systems, especially Sony, Yamahas and out of all those this unit CLEARLY stood out in terms of sound quality and even looks. I tested it to Eileen Farrel (spell), Jethro Tull and Iron Maiden and it retained the sound fidelity even at high volumes. I have bought it now and watched "Hero" on it and the surround was amazing and so was the DVD with very clear picture.
The remote control design isn't bad at all, I have already gotten used to it.

      5 out of 5 stars Great HTIB.......2004-12-22

I had low end Samsung HTIB that had horrible sound and the DVD player went bust. Replaced it with this, and the difference is like night and day.

      Pros:
      Great sound from the surrounds.
      Amazing lows from the subwoofer.
Lots of inputs and outputs for a small unit.
      DSP modes are outstanding.
      Dimmer on the unit display.
      Easy on-screen setup after installing.
Short to medium install time (took me about 1.5 hours).
      Onkyo quality.

      Cons:
      Highs a little muddy.
      Not the best remote.
Buttons on unit front panel kinda suck.

If you can afford this, buy it for the sound quality and inputs/outputs. When it comes to the HTIB, you really get what you pay for.

        Product Description

Panasonic KX-TG2570 is the perfect phone for maximum range. Innovative technologies extend the working range up to 8 times that of an analog 900MHz cordless phone. The two-antenna system on the base helps assure long range and consistent sound quality. The Digital Spread Spectrum technology is built in to increase the range and give you more security in your conversations. The KX-TG2570 model supports Caller ID with Visual Call Waiting; Caller ID Pager Call/Call Screening/Auto Interrupt functions and has a backlit 3-Line handset LCD. The phone features a long life battery that provides longer working hours.

        Amazon.com Review

Panasonic's KX-TG570B is a sleek 2.4 GHz SST cordless phone and answering machine combo. We were impressed with both the range and the voice quality of this phone, but the device suffers from a confusing design and a user interface that will stump anyone who doesn't keep the user manual around at all times.

The answering machine built into the base unit is all digital and can record up to 14 minutes worth of messages. You can retrieve and delete messages by using the handset, with which you can also turn the machine on and off. The handset itself is solidly built, with a rubber inlay on its side to provide a better grip and absorb shock if it's dropped. A three-line, high-resolution backlit LCD graces the front of the handset and displays all sorts of information, from caller-ID names and numbers to the menu items that comprise the phone's interface. This interface is the worst thing about the KX-TG2570B, as it's practically impossible to use without referring constantly to the manual. However, once mastered, it let us add our own phone directory to the unit and edit or delete Caller ID entries that automatically were added to the phone's database.

On the upside, the KX-TG570B's range and ability to penetrate walls blew away other 900 MHz cordless phones we've tested. With the base unit in a basement office (which in turn was in a brick building), we were able to leave the building and roam all over the parking lot with no loss in voice clarity. Additionally, the audio quality was superb as long as we stayed within range, with no hissing, popping, or other static present.

There are a few things about the KX-TG2570B that just don't make sense. You can answer incoming calls using the speakerphone in the base unit, but because it has no keys you can't place a call with it. The bay used to recharge the handset provides a loose fit, meaning the handset can easily tip forward and lose its electric connection. There's no mute button, and although the buttons on the handset are backlit, those on the base are not. This is a great-sounding phone with good range, but if you're looking for perfection, there are better options. --T. Byrl Baker

        Amazon.com Product Description

The Panasonic KX-TG2570 is one of the GigaRange Extreme phones--in fact, it offers Panasonic's longest-range spread-spectrum technology (SST) to date. Cordless phones with SST have greater output power than regular cordless phones because they transmit over the entire bandwidth, constantly changing frequency.

While conventional phones transmit and receive signals within the same band (which can result in interference between these signals), 2.4 GHz GigaRange Extreme SST cordless phones employ the use of two different frequencies: 2.4 GHz on the base and 900 MHz on the handset. This means that interference between these signals is minimized, thereby enhancing clarity and boosting range. A unique, proprietary circuitry design also helps these phones resist interference from other devices that share similar bands, like microwave ovens. Panasonic 2.4 GHz GigaRange Extreme cordless phones utilize SST in both the 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz bands.

This unique twin-band transmission, coupled with rugged design, allows you to take your conversations outdoors and to the extreme. Panasonic has also included a 2.5-millimeter headset jack and belt clip for hands-free operation. Its relatively small design enables you to simply slip the phone into your pocket when you're not using it. In addition, these phones are designed to stand up to everyday wear and tear. They are shock resistant and splash resistant, guarding them against damage caused by occasional dropping or spilling.

The KX-TG2570 also boasts two-way paging and automatic intercom, dual antenna system, backlit three-line LCD display on handset, 50-station caller ID memory and dialer, 30-station phone directory and dialer, navigator key, seven-hour battery charging system, and up to eight hours of talk time. The answering system includes call screening, skip/FF, repeat/rewind, and all/individual erase.

5 out of 5 stars Not as bad as some say........2007-04-28

I got this phone back in 2001, and the only trouble after roughly six years is that I need a new battery. It is a bit worn looking though, but that's to be expected for the length of time I've had it. I have NOT been gentle with this phone, and it still works, which says a lot about the product.

        1 out of 5 stars Out-Of-Range and Out-Of-Patience.......2005-09-19

I too have fallen victim of the infamous "out of range" problem. I paid the extra bucks for this crummy thing because I didn't want the hassle of an inferior phone. It just goes to show - you don't always get what you pay for. In addition to this complaint, my other pet peeves about this phone are: 1) the fake silver coating rubs off the handset turning the once metalic-looking object into an wornout-looking piece of garbage with spots of cheap-looking plastic showing through; 2) the display screen gets all greasy from being pressed against your face, forcing you to wipe it off before/after every use; 3) the rubber protective strip below the ear piece rubs off on every surface you place it down on, producing black scuff marks all over the house.

Needless to say, my next phone will not be Panasonic.

4 out of 5 stars THE WAY TO SOLVE ERRORS!!!EVERYBODY LISTEN UP!!!.......2005-02-06

I am a boy from CHINA!!!Many KX-TG2570S were exported from US as rubbishes and imported as treasures! EVERYONE here claims that the phone has "OUT OF RANGE" errors. But do you have your own way to solve it? You just send them back to Panasonic; you never want to solve this problem use some simple tips and your talented brains!!!I am a computer science major. While I programming, i always making many bugs, when the error first occuerd with me, i thought this error was also a bug and can be solved in a simple way, below:
STEP 1:Pour a cup of coffee and find a nice chair!
STEP 2:Getting your cordless phone in front of you!
STEP 3:Try several times by putting the handset back to the main and take it back, open the on/off button on the handset, make sure the display is "TALK";(This step is important, you must be patient to get the last result:the dailing TONE and the "TALK" message)
STEP 4:When STEP 3 was done, it is OK when you press on/off button on the handset without put it back to the main unit, this is what the bug begin, see STEP 5:
STEP 5:IF you put the handset back to the main with the handset in status:"off", when you take the handset next time, the error will occur in a high possibility(too high to be used), but if YOU PUT THE HANDSET BACK TO THE MAIN WITHOUT TURING THE HANDSET POWER OFF, THE ERROR WILL NEVER OCCURS(JUST THINK THE HANDSET DO NOT HAVE A ON/OFF SWITCH ADD PUT IT BACK IMMEDIATELY AFTER A CALLING)!!!BELIEVE IN ME!!!
        STEP 6:Enjoy your new-birth phone and enjoy your coffee;
STEP 7:If this help U, mail me gio923@msn.com to thank me; hope your success!

        1 out of 5 stars bad phone.......2004-09-20

I came online to amazon.com to search for a new better phone and came accross this one. I already have it and it is the worst phone i have ever had. i've had it for about almost three years and i shouldn't have even kept it that long. The battery life is EXTREMELY short. i talk on the phone a lot and i cut almost all of my conversations short beacause the phone needs to be charged. BUYERS BEWARE!!!

4 out of 5 stars Not as bad as everyone claims.......2004-09-08

I've had this phone for 4 years and I have just now started having the 'Out of Range' error. Yeah, it's definitely obnoxious, but I managed to get 4 years of use out of the unit before it croaked. Up until now it's been an excellent cordless phone. The range is fantastic, the handset is very durable (it's been dropped probably hundreds of times), the caller ID and speakerphone features work as advertised and I never experienced any interference from other cordless phones or other wireless hardware. I'm going to look into getting my unit repaired but if that turns out to be more hassle than it's worth I will definitely be purchasing another Panasonic product as a replacement.

          2 out of 5 stars Unreliable.......2007-01-11

I ordered a Fax machine for a customer. I recieved the wrong product, choose to keep it and get my customer what he wanted. It line errors alot in the middle of fax. It shoots 4-5 pages at a time instead of one at a time. It takes sometimes 3 seperate attempts to fax a 4-6 page fax. It basically is no good to me for anything but an extra phone and I still need a fax machine. I guess it recieves faxes ok. The 25.00 ink is so little and does not last a month.

Not due to the fax machine. But due to how I got the fax machine, I am hesitate to order from Amazon again. I got the fax machine because it matched the item number at Amazon-not because anyone matched the product.

1 out of 5 stars Panasonic Fax Is Bad !!!.......2006-01-05

Bought it based on Panasonic reputation and apparently good feature set. It worked for a few months and then started jamming. Blank paper jams. Outgoing faxes jam. Incoming faxes jam. The only thing this machine does well is take up space and use electricity. Oh yes, if your cat comes near it may get its tail jammed in the stupid machine as well. Replaced the awful thing with an HP and have been quite happy. Don't Buy This Awful Thing!

3 out of 5 stars Not bad, but..........2004-10-06

It performs reasonably well. It can be fussy about feeding multiple pages to send, so it's generally best to feed them through one at a time. That's really a pity, because the quick-scan feature, when it works, is total gold.

But the toner. Oh, god, the toner.

I'm used to laser printers whining at me on the message display about low or "out" toner, and I'm just as used to ignoring them. The helpful people at Panasonic have decided that they don't like people ignoring those messages, so they include a pleasant beep. And when I say "pleasant", I mean it gives me nightmares. When the time comes for the machine to be replaced (and it will come, oh yes, it will come), I may run an extension cord outside so it can actually be actively beeping as I go Office Space on it.

Anyway, toner. To guard against the possibility of someone with super-human will tuning out the beeping (or perhaps to guard against the deaf), they also have included a helpful print out. On this print out are several large bars of varying shades, designed, presumably, to illustrate visually to you exactly how low your toner is.

I have never seen this page print in anything but a perfect, pristine manner. The bars are wonderful in their consistency, with nary a hint of lightness. While this would be an excellent demo of print quality, as a notification that the toner is low, I must admit to some confusion. It's *perfect*. It *never prints light*. So as far as I can tell, the only function it actually serves is to *use more toner*. Quite a bit of toner, considering the large black and near-black bars.

In amusing phone conversations with Panasonic, I've determined that either A) there is no way to disable this helpful function or B) there is, but they require a more substantial bribe than I've offered to offset their loss in toner revenue.

          It gets better.

After it's printed two or three of these frame-worthy gems over the course of a week, it decides to play hard ball. Now it claims that the toner is gone. Out. No toner remains. This is communicated in two ways. One, the beep. Only this time it's incessant. The beep just goes on and on until you replace the toner, unplug the machine, or throw it out the window (and perhaps even then). It also...*prints out a notice*. That's right, you read that correctly; to inform you that there is no toner, it *uses toner*. I'm sure you've guessed the best part already - this notice, like the joyous banners of greyscale earlier, also prints perfectly. It's never been even a little light.

Now we engage in a little off-broadway production for the benefit of the fax machine. "Ahh, pity," we say, opening the machine and removing the toner unit. "We're out of toner. Guess I'll have to get more toner. I'll just open this package over here," we continue, as one of us makes crinkling noises in the background, and the other grimly shakes the toner unit from side to side. "Ah, good, I'll just pop that in, then," we say, winking, as we remove the toner drum, whisper an incantation over it, and pop it back in. "Whew, good as new. I'm sure glad we don't have to worry about any light printing thanks to the Panasonic engineers," we shout with glee, as we put the toner unit back in and close it up.

If we've said the incantations correctly, the fax machine accepts our tribute and pretends everything is ok for a couple days, when the process is then repeated. Usually we perform the ritual twice successfully before it tires of our blandishments and insists the toner is out, despite the repeated evidence of our eyes. At this point we surrender to its whims and put a new drum unit in.

We lived with it...until we upgraded to the KX-FL511, which works *exactly the same way*, except it is much better at scanning in multiple pages unattended.

3 out of 5 stars PAPER JAMMING FIX.......2004-08-24

Our office has this laser fax machine and it, too, occassionally jams the paper in the accordian style. Here is what we do to stop it. Take a cotton ball or a couple of 4x4 gauze pads. Soak them in rubbing alcohol. Wipe the fusion roller until the black stuff is all off. This will keep the paper from jamming, as it sticks to the burned on toner. I do this about once a month and it has solved my problem. Do be careful, as it can be VERY HOT if the machine has been in use. Hope this helps someone.

1 out of 5 stars Be prepared to maintain.......2004-05-11

This fax machine requires the drum unit be replaced about every three toner cartriges. Drum unit $75-$100. May as well buy a new fax machine every three months.
