Product Description
Panasonic's vision of the digital future is driven by the needs and aspirations of its business customers and millions of consumers around the world who use Panasonic products every day. Panasonic shares their dream to live a fuller life by providing ways of working smarter and enjoying the rewards of technological advances. If you need a multi-handset cordless telephone system for your home or office, this is definitely the unit to buy. Equipped with voice mail and an automated attendant, this system can handle up to eight handsets for four incoming lines. Some of the features supported include 50-number phone directories, 30-number caller ID logs, pager notification, 10-number redial memory, intercom, remote access, call transfer, conference calling, and speakerphone. One of the best features is the automated attendant that answers incoming calls and directs them to the appropriate extension(s).
Amazon.com Product Description
Give your small business or home the productivity-enhancing features of a business telephone system without the high price tag. The KX-TG4000B four-line cordless telephone system accommodates up to eight handsets, while the all-digital voice mail system with auto attendant can be occupied by up to four users simultaneously. And dual caller ID with call waiting lets you see who's calling on either line.
The KX-TG4000B base unit and each cordless handset communicate in both directions using 2.4 GHz frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) transmission. FHSS technology improves calling range and clarity, and eliminates crosstalk. Because it rapidly changes transmission frequencies within the 2.4 GHz bandwidth, this cordless system helps reduce the possibility of eavesdropping.
The KX-TG4000B operates via cordless transmissions, so no expensive (and messy) wiring or installation is required. Simply hook up the base to your phone lines and plug it into an AC outlet. Then, set up the included KX-TGA400B handset in the desired location and plug in the recharging stand. Up to seven more optional KX-TGA400B handsets can be added to the system.
The convenient, reliable, all-digital voice mail includes many advanced features. The KX-TG4000B offers a general delivery mailbox on the base unit, plus up to eight personal mailboxes--one for each handset. Each user can record a personal greeting, and can access individual mailboxes from any system handset or an outside line. You can set the voice mail system to automatically answer all incoming calls with a recorded greeting, and to route callers to a desired extension or mailbox. The KX-TG4000B allows for four separate voice paths, so four system users can access voice mail at once.
This phone system also includes a digital duplex speakerphone with an eight-step volume control. Digital circuitry in the base unit helps reduce echo and the dropout effect for more natural-sounding conversations.
Dual caller ID with call waiting lets you view the name and number of all incoming callers on either the base unit or handset LCD--even if you're already on the line. This caller ID feature also stores up to 50 names on the base unit (up to 30 names on each handset), with direct callback capability. And thanks to caller ID pager call, you can even program the phone to notify your pager when you've received an incoming call, and to forward caller ID data to your pager's display. (Subscription to caller ID services is required.)
Other features include two-way intercom/paging, lighted handset keypad, headset jack in the handset, and a belt clip. The handset offers up to eight hours of talk time and up to 96 hours of standby battery life.
Customer Reviews:
What moron designed this system.......2007-09-26
We replaced an older Panasonic 4 line system with this one because the no longer provided the older handsets. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY. This new phone has so many annoying features I am junking it after only 6 months. It does not provide enough power to a headsey for my customers to hear me and I cannot turn it up enough. While talking on the phone, if any of the other 3 lines ring both my voice and the person speaking to me cuts out momentarily and whatever is being said has to be repeated. On busy days this happens between 50 and 100 times. Talk about annoying. About three times a week if you are talking to someone and the phone rings on another line, for no apparent reason the phone flips over to "HOLD" and your conversation goes dead. It takes a bit before you realize what happened and you then have to scramble to get back on and ask the customer to start over because you missed what he was saying. If another handset places a call on hold instead of being able to just pick it up by pressing the line button you have to press another button just to get to the line buttons and then press and hold down the line button until the phone connects. PEOPLE, this should be a great small business phone but it just turns out to be junk. I spent over $2,000.00 for this with multiple handsets. I am shopping for a new one now and will pay whatever I must to get one that actually works well. When I called Panasonic technical support they were of no help what so ever. GOODBYE TO PANASONIC. IF you market things like this my 20 years of buying your products are over.
Surprised to see negative remarks.......2006-09-26
I've had and used this phone system for the last 4 years and love it. I see comments about no mute, but it has a hold button if you want to carry on a conversation and not have the person on the phone hear. The answering machine and voice mail on each of the phones works perfectly. Collecting messages is easy. When someone leaves a message I have different hand sets set to react differently. If someone goes to my personal extension to leave a message, the phone system pages me with the phone number of the person who called so I don't even have to call my answering machine to get the phone number of who called (with caller id service enabled). I have 8 hand sets and use them as intercoms as often as I use the phone for calling out and it's great. During a power failure, the phone system continues to work for hours with careful use. I can set the extension in my bedroom to ring only when one of my 4 phone numbers is called, so I don't get bothered at night except by my family. It's not perfect; I have some problems with my extensive home networking system and the extension at the farthest point from the base and after 4 years one of my hand sets is starting to act weird when it rings, like late ringing or no ringing. I'm using this phone system with 2 standard phone lines and 2 VOIP phone lines. It was expensive and I hope it doesn't give out on me because I've never found another phone system that does all that this one does. I wouldn't give it up and don't know what I'd do without it.
constant cordless breakdown/voicemail flaw.......2006-06-08
We've used this system with 3 cordless and the base unit for at least 4 years - maybe more. I purchased it for the auto attendant and cordless phones, which are a must for our car lot. One major flaw for us is when you transfer a call to another extension and that person doesn't answer, the caller is NOT forwarded to their voice mail - rather, they are sent back to the person that originally transferred the call.
Another not so major - just annoying flaw is the fact that you must push the # key after the extension number (ie- 1#) it really confused some of our customers.
My final and biggest gripe is with the cordless phones. About every 9 months, we have had to replace each cordless because the key pad quits working - it's usually the #1 and 6 keys that go out. You can "play" with them and finally get them to dial - but at over $100 each, this should not be a problem!
We have just bought the new RCA system (Model 25450-just out mid May) that holds up to 16 extensions and WILL forward to voice mail if a call is transferred from another extension. It also has drawbacks, but is currently the only one on the market to replace the discontinued Panasonic - without having to spend a lot of money on a box system- although the RCA is quite expensive itself.
affordable, easy to use, perfect for small businesses!.......2006-05-10
We use this system with 2 cordless handsets and 4 corded handsets in a small law firm and it works perfectly. We have been using it for 2 years and have had no problems with battery life, reception or any features.
We even have a VoIP line tied into the system enabling us to have 2 land lines and 1 VoIp line on the same switchboard.
Each extension can have its own voicemail or the main extension can control voicemail for the entire office. Just a flexible as an expensive Norstar or Meredien system without the need for phone wires everywhere or some huge contraption installed on your wall.
I would recommend this 4 line answering system to any small business with a need for 8 or less extensions combined with cordless and corded handsets. Plus if you don't want phone wires everywhere Panasonic expandable solutions are perfect.
battery.......2006-01-21
DO NOT BUY! As soon as you change the battery all hand sets stop functioning properly.
Panasonic dosen't take any responsebility for this bad product. It should be recalled!!

and some sign of wear, these were the only bad things we found on the phone, but it did have something nice, a hold button, that the 2 line version of this phone does not have.

The red-eye reduction mode effectively helps to reduce the unwanted red-eye phenomena that may sometimes occur in flash shots. Backlight compensation mode makes good use of natural lighting (without a flash) to improve the balance of light between the subject and the rest of the picture. The actual-image zoom viewfinder adjusts the viewfinder image according to the selected focal length. It also offers a close-distance compensation frame, in-focus confirmation, close-distance warning, and flash recharge signal. The built-in electronic self-timer delays the shutter release by 10 seconds, allowing the photographer to join family or friends for memorable pictures. This feature also works well for time exposures. When the landscape mode is selected, the cameras focus is fixed at infinity to capture distant subjects in sharp focus. This mode also works well when taking pictures through a window or through bars at the zoo.

Customer Reviews:
Disappointing so-so phone from Panasonic.......2005-09-13
I've had this phone for over a year.
The Panasonic batteries are the biggest problem, because they fail after short periods and can be very expensive. (As another review suggested, I'm now trying the Energizer NiMH replacements, but it's too soon to tell.)
Also, the additional headsets are markedly overpriced.
Otherwise, sound quality is fair to good. It's poor when 2 people are on different extensions. Also, when on speakerphone, voicemail systems seem unable to hear the touchtones at times, so one needs to switch to using the handset directly.
We're still using these phones, but obtained a new set from Uniden (with which I've had much greater success) in case these give us further trouble. Would recommend avoiding this series of Panasonic phones.
BAD. Beware of Panasonic's deceptive customer service........2005-04-17
It is with great frustration that I am writing this product review. I have had too much trouble with the battery for the cordless telephone handset (Model KX-TG2700S) and I have complained to Panasonics as described below.
March 8, 2005: I made the first call to Panasonic (1-800-211-7262) to explain that the original battery (Model N4HKGMA00001) for my telephone's handset had stopped working. In particular, since December 2004, in less than one year from the initial purchase, I was unable to charge the battery from the base unit. The customer service agent I spoke to promised to send me a replacement battery free of charge.
March 31, 2005: When after three weeks of my March 8th call I did not receive the battery, I called Panasonic again. This time, the customer service agent told me that there had been an error in processing my order. The agent then went on to process the order again and provided me an order number.
April 16, 2005: Once again I did not receive the battery even after two weeks of my March 31st call, so I called Panasonic again. This time, the customer service agent told me that Panasonic had stopped sending the batteries for Model KX-TG2700 as of March 19, 2005.
Hence, I am now concluding that Panasonic customer service has been giving me a run around to save Panasonic a mere $15, the cost of the battery. I complained about the defective battery on March 8, 2005, before Panasonic's March 19, 2005 decision to suspend sending out the replacement batteries. I think Panasonic's modus operandi is quite disgusting. I bought an expensive phone believing it to be a good purchase. Now I am realizing that it was a big mistake giving my business to Panasonic. I do understand that the batteries have to be replaced from time to time, and I also understood when I bought the phone that the original battery would last for at least 2 years (as reiterated by Panasonic's customer service agent during my March 8, 2005 call!).
I believe that Panasonic is willing to lose a customer who would buy more products in future to save a mere $15. It is now abundantly clear to me that Panasonic works on deception and cheats its customers out of the value of their product. In light of the lousy customer service provided to me, I will not buy any Panasonic products in future.
The Energizer battery makes a big difference!.......2005-01-19
I've had this phone for a couple of years now. The feature are decent and I like the handset speakerphone.
We had a lot of trouble with the battery at first. It eventually got so bad that we started using the base to make calls. We finally got the Energizer ER-P511 battery and it made a huge improvement! I hardly ever hear that annoying beep anymore!
I'm satisfied with the phone overall. Some of my complaints is that the expansion handsets seem a little pricey. Also the 2.4Ghz seems to interfere with the wireless video kit that I just got, so I'm thinking of moving to a 5.8Ghz system with an extra handset. However, there does not seem to be too much interference with my 2.4ghz DLINK DI-514.
We absolutely hate this phone system (Really 0 stars).......2004-12-22
Oh, let us count the ways:
1) The battery life, as everyone mentions, is horrible. I suspect their recharging unit is not very smart, and thus they kill the batteries thanks to overcharging due to the so-called battery 'memory effort,' but I do not know this fer sure. The battery in one phone has now died on us, one is now so faint you can barely hear it, and the last one doesn't recharge much, and dies within the span of a 10 minute conversation when 'fully' charged.
2) There is also a short in the system, possibly related to the bad battery life, that results in the LCD screen blanking out when the phone is on the charger, and it only sometimes comes back alive. This makes the nice Caller ID LCD feature often useless.
3) They are NOT at all cheap for this level of crappiness. We decided to spring for what we thought were 'high-end' phones and got a terrible phone instead.
We will probably try to find the Energizer ER-P511 batteries to see if that solves our problems. But I'm tempted to go back to old but far more reliable phones. Alas, if only our cell phones worked in the house. (DON'T get me started on that one...)
Nice feature set but poor implementation.......2004-12-13
I've owned Panasonic phones pretty much for the last 10 years and they've all been great. When I saw the verbose feature list on this phone plus the 2.4Ghz range, I jumped.
I liked the cell phone like approach to storing numbers, though the interface is quite clunky. Sometimes it's hard to figure out your way back to the main menu.
Anyway, the main beef I have with this phone is battery life and construction quality. I've had the phone for less than a year and the battery has reached the point where it starts beeping after having one conversation on the phone. This is unacceptable. For some reason, the LCD panel has gotten so faded that I can barely read it without extreme darkness. I tried to adjust the contrast but nothing happened.
Luckily I bought this phone with a 2yr replacement warranty at Best Buy and I'm returning it and its accessory phone to get a better system.
I was very happy with the features but the promise was greater than the execution.

Customer Reviews:
Not happy, but I guess it's my best option, so I'll buy it again.................2006-06-01
I have this phone at home. I've had it for 2 1/2 years and it's worked great. Then, it started dying. I'd speak on it for about 10 minutes, it would start beeping, and then the reception would cut out/die. I replaced the battery, but it still happened.
I am so sick of spending good money on top-name electronics and then having them die in 2 years or less. I do not go for cheap, so this is especially distressing.
I am not happy with this revelation, but reading all other cordless phone reviews, this one unfortunately got the best one (which is not saying much). I guess I'll have to buy it again, since I need a cordless phone and this gets the best reviews (again, the "best" is not really best, but best out there from what is available).
Very maddening indeed.
Great Phone .......2006-03-14
This phone is great. I like most things about it. Especially the head set. I have trouble with my arm holding any phone to me ear for too long, and the head set relieves that pain. My only problems would be volume control. I have excellent hearing, but the head set volume doesn't seem to go very high for those people how tend not to talk directly into the mouth piece of thier phone. Think the hand set could stand to be just a little bit smaller too. Other than that, it works well for me.
Excellent Handy Phone.......2006-01-11
It is an excellent phone with lots of features. Base is compact and occupies less desk space. Antenna is bit longer but ok. Answering machine is easy to set up and operate.
Bad experience with this phone.......2003-12-07
I purchased this phone recently and have very bad opinion about it. It sounds very noisy even at short distance from the Base. It is not switching the channel properly. It is hard to believe that 2.4GHZ phone is working such poorly in reception.

Amazon.com Product Description
The remanufactured Panasonic KX-TG2226BV cordless phone features a stylish splash- and shock-resistant cordless handset that gives you the freedom to talk while engaged in most household activities. That's not the only benefit, however. The phone also transmits over the 2.4 GHz digital frequency to eliminate the hiss and fuzziness suffered by most analog signals. Reception is further improved by Panasonic's Voice Enhancer technology, which helps clarify and improve reception by producing an easy-to-hear, natural-sounding voice, and the 39-channel autoscan, which instinctively searches for the frequency with the least static and interference.
Maintenance is minimal: the supplied rechargeable NiMH battery provides up to five hours of talk time and lasts for 11 days on standby. And to make the phone even more convenient, Panasonic threw in a wired headset. Users can simply attach the headset to the cordless handset and freely talk while washing the dishes, typing on the computer, and engaging in a host of other activities.
Thanks to the call waiting/caller ID compatibility--which requires a subscription to a fee-based phone company service--and 30-number memory, users can learn the name and number of an incoming caller each time the phone rings, even if they're on another call. The three-line, multifunction LCD, meanwhile, lets you see all caller ID information without scrolling, while the backlighting on the handset LCD aids visibility in low-light situations.
Users will also appreciate the single-mailbox answering system, which offers a recording time of up to 15 minutes and boasts such essentials as all/new message playback, skip, and repeat, as well as a SlowTalk message setting and a time/date stamp for each message. Plus, it lets you check your messages remotely from another location, so you can keep track of calls while on vacation. And should you need to quickly access the numbers of your favorite friends and family members, simply consult the 50-number phone directory.
Additional features include a digital handset speakerphone that helps reduce the echo and dropout commonly found in such units; a two-way intercom between the base and the handset; a page locator that helps you find the handset when misplaced; six selectable ring tones; and a low-battery indicator that tells you when it's time to recharge the battery. The KX-TG2226BV measures 5.34 by 3.59 by 7.25 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a 90-day warranty.
