Mac Users Avoid This Product!!!!.......2005-04-01

I used this printer for quite some time with my Pismo running OS 9.2. When I purchased a Powerbook G4 running OS X, this printer was obsolete, i.e. no drivers available. Sony was absolutely not interested in making a driver for this printer and could not care less about the customer STUCK with this pathetic piece of equipment.

If you are a mac user forget it. This printer is not worth a dime. If you already have one, find a PC user to sell it to. Shame on Sony for not working with Apple. If I could give it a rating lower than 1 I would.

Some hints for getting the best output.......2005-02-26

This printer produces impressive output, although the colors have a little too much magenta. The resolution is specified as 403 dpi but to get a 1:1 pixel mapping from (say) photoshop you need to set the image resolution to 403.66 dpi.

It is correct that Sony do not officially make the Mac OS X drivers for this printer available for download. They do ship on the install CD though. A google search for "DPP-EX5_EX7" should locate the driver on the internet.

A great printer but for lack of a driver.......2004-07-18

I was delighted when my then-new Sony Digital Photo Printer DPP-SV77 worked on my Mac as advertised: bright, true colours printing in a reasonable amount of time...but when I upgraded to Mac OS X from OS 9.2.2, can you imagine how I felt when I discovered that Sony DOES NOT provide a printer driver for any version of OS X? I am unable to coax it to print in Classic (OS X's emulator for OS 9.x), and so the printer now lies in state on my desktop.

Since Sony now only supports Windoze, I can only warn other Mac users to STAY AWAY from this printer; it is NOT compatible with the current version of the Macintosh.

Great quality but colour levels are off a bit.......2003-09-28

The print quality on this little printer is fantastic....you would not be able to distinguish it from proffessional digital photo lab grade I'm sure. It can be used by itself and a Memory Stick (or other media card via a 'PC card'), plugged into a tv monitor or via a computer. To utilise it's built in effects options (such as gretting card and other visual effects) it must be connected to a tv set. Unfortunately you can not do this with the computer (which seems strange and unnessessary).

Loading paper is very simple. 25 quantity paper packs come with printer cartridges that last for 25 prints.
Print speed is very fast (90 secs) and watching the printing is rather satisfying to watch!
It will only print 4x6 or 3x4.

This printer should get a hands down 5 stars but it doesn't....

The red colour output is oversaturated. You will notice this particulary when you snap people. The skin tones come out way too warm (red) and really are not acceptable unless you touch up the image first via a program. However, by reducing the red tint, you sacrifice the rest of the colours in the image to an extent. The picture you are getting still is better than a dot matrix or lazer print image but you think what could have been if they had addressed this problem when they made it!

Bottom line. If you can pick one up cheap (like I did) and are prepared for the 'red issue', this is still much better than basic printers, otherwise, best to see what the newer models are like.

Great Unit, makes beautiful pix. Each time you print 25-30 pix on 3x5 or 4x6 you put in a new ribbon cartridge which comes with the paper. Couldn't be happier, paid a very reasonable price from VDO Specialities. Great outfit to do business with! They were concerned with some early misgivings I had and called me! Offered to refund and pay for return, said they were going to refund my money anyway because of the misunderstanding! Guy named Mike Walker, super to do busines with!Highly recommend VDO Specialties!!!!

Dye sublimation photo prints are far superior to inkjet prints in clarity and durability. The picture quality from this cartridge and paper is excellent for the price. Since the paper and dye ribbon are changed in tandem, you are assured prints with no loss of color quality. When time is not an issue, I use an online digital photo processing service. With the Sony printer and Cartridge/Paper, you have the prints immediately! The photo print qualities are truly comparable.

My sons used these controllers for about five months.
That's how long they lasted.
For both of them, the + directional pad broke and fell out.
The plastic parts that held the directional pad was too weak.

I recommend using other controllers if you are looking for controllers that are durable and responsive.

Great controller, but very sensitive........2005-11-26

I really like this controller. It feels great in my hands and the programming software works well for most situaitions.

My only conplaint which is why it only gets 4 stars is that the analog controls are very, very sensitive, so if you move the control slightly, the game will think you moved it a lot. Therefore, don't expect to be able to make very small movements with it. There is no way to set the sensitivity.

Also, I have to calibrate it everytime I restart the computer, because it forgets. This doesn't bother me though.

Not dependable.......2005-07-29

This controller has all the makings of a great but is missing some crucial features.
1. The buttons are way to close together
2. The joysticks are way to loose
3. And my most important gripe is a have returned a total of three of these remote controllers to best buy within a month because they have stopped working. I have only one game for the computer, Halo, so I know I'm not working it to hard. I purchased these controllers from Best Buy so maybe they just have a bad stock, but whatever the case may be, I will never purchase another one of these controllers again.

I have been seaching for a good gamepad to use for emulators and other games on my PC for some time now and have found that while there are many great gamepads being made for Playstation 2, X-Box, and other consoles, there are few good PC gamepads worth buying. While there were some positive aspects to this controller, the problems I have had with the other gamepads in the past were evident in this product as well: 1)The buttons were much too close together, resulting in accidental pushes of random buttons; 2)The analog sticks were very loose, without the resistance I was used to in other gamepads (ie. X-Box, PS2); 3)The shoulder/trigger buttons (L & R) were huge, with only one on each side rather than two as most gamepads have now; 4)There was no "start" or "select" button in the center. These functions could be programmed onto other buttons, but this was confusing and difficult to remember; 5)The D-pad (the directional buttons shaped like a plus sign), essential for many games created for older cartridge consoles (ie. SNES, NES, Sega...), was very akward and imprecise. Pushes on the horizontal parts of the D-pad were often interpreted as up or down; 6)Finally, the controller just felt cheaply made, as if it would break easily if dropped. The buttons clicked loudly (I prefer a quiet gamepad) and did not feel smooth to push.

While this controller could probably have sufficed, I was looking for much more from a $30 controller. In the end I returned this product and purchased on Ebay an adapter that allows you to hook a Playstation (or PS2) controller into a USB port and found some original Playstation controllers for very cheap since few people use those any more. Also this adapter allows me to plug two controllers into one USB port for easy multiplay. This has worked flawlessly and ended up being much cheaper (I believe the adapter was about $8 and the PS controllers were given to me by a friend). This is the method I would recommend. I hope this helps frustrated people like me who have so far been disappointed with PC controllers.

A nice controller, not perfect, but nice........2004-12-15

This is a nice controller, lots of buttons and programmability, perfect for PC games or playing your favorite console emulators. The key-mapping features are excellent because you can create seperate profiles for each PC game or emulator. You can also use the Shift to give buttons a seperate function. Setting up turbo buttons is easy to learn.

This pad is nice, but not flawless.
Here are my gripes about the P25000.

1: I really don't see the point of having Rumble Pack as there are so few games that even use it. I was never a big fan of rumble and always thought it to be over-rated.

2: This pad is wireless, which might be nice... but then you have to deal with the batteries dying.
Personally I like the Saitek P880 better because it doesn't give me many problems.

3: The L and R shoulder button's are a little too flush with the rest of the unit, they should be thicker, stick out more and give a good springy resistence like the rest of the buttons on the P880.

2: Pushing the D-pad up, down, or right makes a tick noise because its edges are hitting against the plastic housing. It doesn't do this when you press Left, there's just a nice rubbery springiness. ALL of the directions on the pad should feel this way. And why a hard plastic D-pad anyway? A softer plastic one would've been nicer and probably last longer.

Actually I had an idea... anyone remember Turbo Touch 360? It was like this little magic flat orange d-pad that sensed the heat of your thumb and kept you from getting blisters, now those were kewel. How come they don't make a PC gamepad with something like that?

The Saiteks come with a 2 YEAR WARRANTY. So in the unlikely event that the controller breaks before then, if you still have your proof of purchase (reciept) you can get a new one sent to you or pick it up at the store you bought it from.
