Remember what DJs used in the club before the 1200s? Nobody else does either. That's because their heavy-duty design, vibration-resistant construction, and mechanical precision make a lot of what those early DJs did possible. This deck was the first to feature a Direct Drive motor, quartz movement for total accuracy, adjustable tone arm weights, anti-skate control, a pop-up target light and a sliding pitch control. With each new improvement, as form follows function, the Technics turntable has become a thing of beauty. From the community centers at the beginning of the disco era to the clubs of today, Technics decks have been the standard for over thirty years. Vibration Resistant Construction A die-cast aluminum body, heavy rubber base, and a lack of unnecessary components or empty space allow the 1200MK2 to absorb unwanted vibrations that could otherwise interfere with the sound. Ultra-Low-Speed Motor / Super-High Torque The 1200MK2's ultra-low-speed motor and high torque (1.5kg/cm) allow for super quick start-ups (0.7 sec) and stops. Quartz Locked Pitch Adjustment Allows for accurate quartz-locked pitch adjustments throughout its 16 percent (+/-8) range. Total Direct-Drive Accuracy Instead of just spinning the platter, the classic Technics Direct-Drive system actually incorporates it into the motor, reducing the number of parts that can malfunction and making consistent, accurate speeds possible. Just use mine for playing records at home. Sounds better than a $500.00 "budget audiophile" table I got rid of. Speed is always accurate and steady. Everything's easily and precisely adjustable. Nice, rich, "unfinicky", yet detailed sound, "set it and forget it". Good isolation. Solid build.
Got excellent sound with a Shure M97xE cartridge. Just found a great deal on a Denon DL-103 low output moving coil on eBay from a foreign source. VINYL HEAVEN!!! This combination really does beat CD on my system, in "life" and overall smoothness, when run through my Jolida JD-9 phono stage.
Everybody knows the 1200 is a great DJ table. With the right cartridge, I honestly don't think it can be beat for home use either, without spending considerably more. Too bad they don't make an automatic version that lifts the needle at the end of the record like they did in the old days. Bet it'd sell better than they think. I'm willing to "babysit" the 1200 for the wonderful sound it delivers though...
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR SPINNING VINYL ANYWHERE!!!
Super solid turntable.......2007-02-14
THis is the first new 1200 that I have purchased, but not the first I have owned. Funny thing is, this wasn't even for me. Was a gift to a great friend. Either way, the 1200s are great turntables. They are very versitile & can take the abuse of spinning, or just run on doing mundane vinyl playback.
Setup is a relatively easy process & you can keep it simple & have it work well forever, or tweek out over things to make minute changes to get the abosolute best possible sound.
Anyway, these things are reliable, tanks, will last forever, & though it seems pricey, will provide for you for years...probably until you sell it to someone else who can use it too!
The Ultimate Turntable.......2006-09-26
Occasionally a piece of equipment comes along that is so well designed, well built and far ahead of the pack that it defines the state of the art and any major improvements are not only unnecessary but impossible. 30 some odd years ago Technics released the first SL1200 direct drive turntables and defined what phono turntables should be; affordable, reliable, excellent. In the 30 years since then there have only been minor revisions to the SL1200.
If you're like me and you have a vinyl fetish the 1200 MK2 is the turntable to buy, the extra heavy duty construction that made this deck so popular with DJs at clubs serves audiophiles just as well at home. The 1200MK2 is impossibly smooth; turn it on and watch as the platter gets up to speed in a single rotation, the platter speed is incredibly accurate, again, this sets the standard. Combined with a properly installed cartridge (I use a Shure Type 15 VMR) this turntable will give you years of pleasure from your record collection

A Classic.......2005-05-29
It's one of the classic turntables out there & it's built like a tank. Mine (at least the one I picked up) of course didn't come with a stylus so you will have to get one of those... but it's a great turntable. Good sound quality (depending on the stylus you use - try Grado's if you've got the cash to burn) and well made.
Except for one design flaw... the output wiring. The output wiring (white/red) that you would put into your mixer or phono pre-amp isn't that great. That wouldn't be so annoying - except that you have to dis-assemble the bottom of the table (just unscrew the mat) to actually be able to unplug the bloody thing to make the changes and put a better cable in there or replace the cable if need be... and you DO NOT want to do that or void your warranty if it's new. Cables bust & go bad... IMO they should've made it easier to dis-assemble that & not built it into the table.
But otherwise, it's a great table that'll do you well with the right mixer & cartridges, of course.
D.J. RA's table review.......2004-10-18
The technics direct drive table that you are looking at is a great buy for anyone. The technics tables have a great rep. amoung D.J's for being a very well built and sturdy turntable. A direct drive is they way to go if you are looking to do any back cueing, and scratching. This is due to the fact that a belt driven turntable will burn the belt and distroy the motor. If you are planing to listen to your old records eather one will do. James D. Higgins D.J. RA Exit Only Entertainment
Original High Quality.......2004-05-30
This turntable is top of the line. Exactly the same as the one my mother bought for her top dollar Technics home stereo system in the late 70s and hers still works, Technics is a trusted name in home audio and when I buy my first home stereo component system it will be a Technics.
The Last Turntable You'll Ever Own..........2004-02-22
I've known some people to still own a manually operated Technics that has lasted over 25 years (the beauty of a manual is no extra gizmos or electronics to break down or mechanically and annoyingly affect pure playback) ! If you want proof just look at how many Denon or other top brand name turntables listed on E-Bay will often carry a disheartening claimer by the seller that reads something like, "turntable works fine except automatic tonearm or speed chip sensor does not work properly".Lesson learned is to stay away from turntables with a lot of "computerized-electronic sensing automatic features". So, no, this 'table is not an automatic nor is it for the lazy listener who will fall asleep only to wake up and find the needle has been scratching and bumping at the end of playing. Once you damage your needle in this fashion you will never make the mistake of falling asleep again while playing it.... But, again, the trade off or sacrifice is worth it versus having an automatic tonearm malfunctioning with time. It was first and foremost designed back in the 70's as a mid-priced audiophile turntable for home consumer use and later incorporated as the reference or standard dj equipment for radio stations and then dj/scratching venues. Over the years Technics has fine tuned and tweaked what was already, in my opinion, an almost perfected machine. While audiophile purists and snobs gasp at the thought of using a direct drive 'table to hear their precious vinyl collection, I for one don't mind a direct drive over a belt drive. Advantages of a direct drive is no belt to replace, wow & flutter are almost non-existant (since the platter is driven by the spindle shaft motor directly), speed accuracy is on target. Some purists have pointed out that this 'table is not "dead" sounding enough and may produce some rumble or motor vibration noise when listening to extreme quiet passages on classical disc pressings. So far I have tested some classical records and cannot hear any unwanted vibrations coming from the motor or disturbing noises. In fact, Technics makes one of the best turntables with a very quiet and smooth running motor. The plinth is heavily weighed down and isolated from unwanted vibrations that would otherwise be picked up by the cartridge.Over the years I have owned a fully automatic-remote controlled Kenwood table, a Pioneer 'table, and an el cheapo Sears LXI 'table...All of these turntables ended up in a junk pile in Siberia due to their cheap plastic nature and gamut of so-called bells and whistles. Technics is the only one for those, like myself, not yet to make it into the higer end audiophile arena with 'tables costing from $1000.00 and beyond price range realm. I have used everything from a cheap Audio Technica cartridge to a mid priced Shure cartridge and finally a Grado Prestige cartridge (the Grado being the best in sound quality, price and workmanship).Whether you decide to use an Ortofon DJ cartridge/needle for DJ/scratching purposes or a Grado audiophile cartridge for in home listening you will be thrilled of the workmanship and sound quality of this finely crafted and engineered product ! As a plus, the Technics is an aesthetically pleasing piece of audio gear to look at and realize some solid materials were used to produce it...Finally, who would have thunk decades ago that the Technics 1200 would carry the distinction to be used as a "DJ instrument" for scratching (the motor is that strong) as well as being dubbed the honorary title of the true "Wheel of Steel"!

Should you really "shake it like a Polaroid picture?"
Ever since the song "Hey Ya" by Andre 3000 of Outkast came out, everyone is shaking their Polaroid pictures. Shaking or waving a Polaroid picture to help the development process originated in the early days of peel-apart film. After peeling the negative, the image needed to dry before it could be handled, so waving the photo helped it to dry more quickly. When using the integral films (600, Spectra, 500, SX-70/Time-Zero, i-Zone) that are used in our most popular current camera models (Polaroid One, OneStep, JoyCam, etc.), the image develops and dries behind a clear plastic window and never touches the air, so shaking or waving has no effect. In fact, excessive shaking or waving can actually damage the image. Rapid movement during development can cause portions of the film to separate prematurely, or can cause "blobs" in the picture. The best way to ensure a perfectly developed image is to simply lay the picture on a flat surface immediately after it exits the camera.

just what the doctor ordered.......2007-09-21
there's nothing more fun than an instant picture, and this camera delivers. of course it's the only camera that does what it does, so not having any competition makes comparisons ahem, difficult. that said, the only thing that keeps me from snapping away more is the ridiculous price of film. but again, that's what happens when you have no competition. when is someone going to make a digital camera that prints its own pics? would be a killer ap.
Groovy version of an old classic.......2007-08-03
There are times when only a Polaroid will do, this camera is sleek and compact and super easy to use, kids LOVE it and it is great when you want to SEE the photo in your hand while on the road, the camera is a baragin but watch the price of the film it can get pricey if you don't keep your snapping under control.
Great Product.......2007-03-17
This camera works great. It stays in my car and gets bounced around a lot. I had a cheaper one (the basic polaroid model) and after any turbulace it would spit out 3 pictures at a time and none would turn out. At $1 a pic, that's not cost effective. I've had no problems with this and it works great everytime I've used it. Worth the extra couple bucks.
Love this camera.......2007-01-10
This camera is such a pleasure to use. In freezing cold or searing heat -which we have a lot of in this area - it keeps cranking out the pictures. I also have a couple of digital cameras, but when I want a picture without having to deal with settings and other distractions, this is the camera I use. Love it!
Polaroid One600 Classic Instant Camera.......2007-01-10
I have many choices of cameras to shoot from. But of all I own I love this classic Polaroid. It was delivered on-time, undamaged. I dropped the film in and started shooting pictures. Thanks to Polaroid for their consistently fantasic products. Thank you.

Customer Reviews:
A perfect present for a radio lover........2007-03-01
A gorgeous present for yourself or someone else. The radio is beautifully designed, the sound is wonderful, and even the packaging is lovely. We haven't bought the AM antenna yet, but I'm sure it will be even more impressive when it can pull in long-distance AM stations.
I highly recommend this.
Well worth the price.......2006-07-09
I recently purchased this radio and have been extremely pleased with the quality. The reception is quite outstanding. I have had other table radios with external antennas and they could barely receive the local NPR and college stations. The Tivoli, with its external FM antenna, receives these stations beautifully. The dark walnut cabinet is beautiful. The ease of use is great, too! Sometimes all you want is to tune into a station, not play with controls and this model of radio satisfies that need perfectly!
Pricey, but worth it.......2006-05-30
This radio has 3 things that make it outshine other brands I tried: 1) it has very good audio for its size, 2) it looks great, and 3) it has a very good tuner able to pull in weak stations.
I got this for my wife's birthday as a third attempt to provide her with a kitchen radio that can receive the weak PBS stations in our town. Two others (Sony and GE) were completely unable to pick up PBS. This radio can receive them, provided I place the external antenna in the right position. On strong stations, of course, it has no problem, even with its internal antenna. It is just that when the signal is very weak, even the best possible radio design must be given a chance by providing a good antenna (This is actually an expert opinion since I teach radio design at a state university. The problem has to do with what is called the thermal-noise-floor and the FM detector's sensitivity. Limits of physics and engineering - yada, yada, yada ;-)
Another problem radios have with weak signals is receiving them when there are strong signals around (called intermod and blocking problems). This radio does a pretty good job dealing with those problems too. There is a hip-hop station in our area which is so strong that other radios like the Sony and GE kitchen models I tried had the entire bottom of the FM band unusable. The strong station came in everywhere on the dial with those radios. The Tivoli does have a few instances of receiving this annoying station at places on the dial where stations were weak or absent, but it was much improved over the other brands, and it was able to dig out the weak PBS signals. The only radios that might do a better job are car radios which are designed to deal with the problem. But a comparison of the Tivoli with my Pioneer car radio and its "Supertuner" showed them to be about on a par - except that the Tivoli actually sounded better!
On the subject of sound, the Tivoli is very good - amazing for the small speaker. Midrange and highs are very pleasing, but I feel the bass is a bit colored and maybe too strong. But that's another place where the design of the radio is probably about as good as physics will allow, given the size - so I'm very happy.
Finally, the looks... I got the platinum version of the Model-One for the polished wood, and boy is it polished. They even throw in a pair of white gloves so you don't get finger prints on the finish when you take it out of the box ! Nice touch...
Amazon.com Review
The Tivoli Model One has been praised far and wide for its high-quality sound, small size, and cool, retro styling. We got our hands on a sample unit and came away impressed, just as many others have. Anyone who wants a compact, stylish radio with surprisingly good sound should give the Model One a look.
Design
In many ways, the Model One is the culminating achievement of famed audio engineer Henry Kloss's long career. Designed from the ground up by Kloss, who passed away in 2002, the radio exudes understated class and elegant simplicity. We received the Platinum Series Model One, which features a hand-lacquered, high gloss dark walnut cabinet that is simply gorgeous. According to Tivoli, the genuine wood casing isn't just for looks as it provides "an acoustically inert housing" that maximizes the speaker's sound quality. At just over 8 inches wide, 4.5 inches high, and 5.25 inches deep, the Model One is about the size of a toaster turned on its side-- plenty small to fit on a desk, dresser, or nightstand.
The Model One's single rotary dial handles tuning for both AM and FM stations. It feels sturdy and smooth in the hand. The dial is designed to move between stations at a speed that is a bit slower than the speed at which the user turns the knob-- a 5 to 1 ratio, to be exact. This "ratio" dialing technique makes it far easier to tune stations accurately and quickly. It's a nice touch that sets the unit apart from other desktop radios.
The tuner band selection and volume dials are easy to control. Plus, they're well designed for hands of all sizes. A small LED power indicator, as well as an LED that helps determine signal strength, are positioned between the dials. We liked the light-colored face and dark lettering printed on the Platinum Series model we reviewed; it made for easy operation in dimly-lit rooms. The Model One's single, 3" driver is protected by a handsome metal speaker cover. Tivoli adds that the speaker is enhanced by a "multi-stage frequency contouring circuit that adjusts the speaker's output over half-octave increments." The result, Tivoli claims, is "musically accurate tonal balance and bass response."
The back of the unit features a coaxial antenna jack for the included FM antenna wire. While the Model One also has an internal FM antenna, Tivoli recommends using the supplied external one for tricky tuning in locales with a lot of stations crammed together. There's a handy switch for switching between the internal and external antennae. A standard 3.5mm headphone jack is also provided, as is a 3.5mm auxiliary line in port for plugging in your iPod or other music device. If you want to use the Model One as a component tuner-- not a bad idea given the overall quality and accuracy of the tuning circuitry-- Tivoli has provided a 3.5mm output port. The back panel also sports separate ports for AC and DC power, making the unit a great choice for boating or RV use.
Listening Pleasure
As with the Tivoli iPal portable speaker system, we were initially skeptical about the performance of a small, one-speaker unit that only offers monaural sound. The reality is that most small two-speaker systems don't allow you to place the speakers very far apart anyway, and the Model One's rich, resonant sound more than made up for its lack of true stereo separation. Plus, the Model One is a single, elegant box with no annoying speaker cords.
While the Model One isn't designed to provide earth-shattering sound at high volume, it produces surprising clarity and fullness at normal listening levels. When turned all the way up, the unit's rich sound persists and we suspect that Tivoli engineered the Model One's volume level to max out before any distortion arises. If you don't need a lot of volume, the Model One delivers. As with the iPal, we were left scratching our heads and wondering how such great sound could come from such a little box.
The Model One's tuning accuracy is also impressive; we were able to dial in stations we didn't even know existed. Tivoli says this is due to the unit's discrete-component FM tuner technology, which was originally developed for cellular telephones. Whatever Tivoli has done here, they did it right; closely-spaced stations are a breeze to tune.
Pros
- Compact form factor
- Excellent sound
- Supremely accurate tuning
Cons
- Not engineered to produce extremely high volume levels
Product Description
Where performance and simplicity are paramount but space is sparse, the Model One mono table radio fits the bill. With just three knobs, it is the antithesis of today's ever more complex electronic products. But behind the Model One's simple, innocent appearance, hides a multitude of technology facilitating higher sound reproduction and better reception over anything else near it in size or cost. The furniture-grade, handmade wood cabinet is not just for appearance sake, but also doubles as an acoustically inert housing. A heavy-magnet, long-throw 3-inch driver is allied with a multi-stage frequency contouring circuit that adjusts the speaker's output over half-octave increments. The result is musically accurate tonal balance and bass response.Instead of a standard, off-the-shelf integrated circuit, the Model One uses a state of the art, discrete-component FM tuner featuring GaAs MES-FET mixers. Originally developed for cellular telephones, the Model One was the first radio to adopt this technology for better FM reception and increased clarity on closely spaced stations.Discovering those stations is a joy thanks to the large analog tuning knob. Its geared-down 5: 1 tuning ratio permits easy and accurate tuning. The amber tuning indicator lets you know when you've achieved proper tuning. Built-in AM and FM antennas provide satisfying reception, while a rear 75-ohm jack allows connection of an external FM antenna in difficult reception areas. Also provided is a headphone jack, auxiliary input to connect a portable CD player or other device, and a record output for recording, or to use the Model One as a high-quality outboard tuner. The Model One looks right at home whether perched on a kitchen counter, in a dorm room, bedroom, at the office, vacation home, on a workbench, or even in an RV or boat (using the 12V input).

Pricey, but worth it.......2006-05-27
This radio has 3 things that make it outshine other brands I tried: 1) it has very good audio for its size, 2) it looks great, and 3) it has a very good tuner able to pull in weak stations.
The problem has to do with what is called the Thermal Noise Floor and the FM detector's sensitivity.
The strong station comes in everywhere on the dial with those radios. The Tivoli did have a few instances of receiving this annoying station at places on the dial where stations were weak or absent, but it was much improved over the other brands, and it was able to dig out the weak PBS signals.
Nice touch...
good, but could be better.......2006-02-09
I bought this radio becaue my farorite station does not have good reception. This radio certainly provides better reception, but the station seems to fade at times, and I need to adjust it.

Improving the SD Jukebox.......2004-04-22
I got this camera and I cannot get the JukeBox to work!
The sftwr is awful, how do you convert your WMA music files to MP3 on that software, do you need the CD to send it to the SDcard?
Why dont they allow you to use other software?
Come on Panasonic... you can do better...
Nice.......2004-03-11
I thought the camera was good for what I bought it for. But having trouble sending pictures through email. What am I doing wrong
These People Are CRAZY!!!!.......2003-12-26
I just got this camera for christmas and I love it!
These other reviewers must be crazy!!! Obviously your not
going to get a camera as good as say the sony handycam ($1,500)
You get what you pay for idiots. If you want to record huge boring family vacations do not buy this camera! But if you just want to have fun and record little tid-bits this camera is for you. Who wants to watch more than a 3 minute movie anyway! I agree that the quality isn't up to standard but who cares the coolness makes up for that!!!! The other reviews are quite discouraging and seem to be written by idiots! Dont despair this is a great camera. Maybe look around a little more if your a SERIOUS PHOTOGRAPHER! Good Luck
Next time I'm getting a Sony.......2003-10-17
I did a lot of research about this camera before buying it and now I can't help but wonder what people were thinking!! I agree it's a cute camera that is good for carrying around in your purse or in your pocket. But I think that if you have ever used ANY kind of camera before, there is no way you will accept the quality of pictures that this camera produces (even if it's just for email).
Pros:
1) Its really small and cute. It attracts a lot of attention.
2) It is easy to use.
3) Even the 32 MB card that comes with it takes a good amount of photos and mpegs.
4) The mpegs are pretty easy to transfer on email.
Cons:
1)All the photos are blurred if you are not at the EXACT distance you should be shooting from.
2)The camera is much better off without its zoom feature
3)You can absolutely forget about taking shots indoors or at night (or dusk, for that matter). Bright sunlight (but not direct sunlight) is the only way you can get visible images. The flash is not much of a help.
Conclusion: It takes really bad-quality images. Maybe if it cost 40-50 $, I might be a little bit more satisfied with it. But for anything above that, I would not recommend it to anyone.
cute.......2003-08-25
This is a nice looking gadget. Very poor picture quality. Can not get the software to work for music recording. Having problems with the camera shutting down . Thought it was a defective battery so bought another and the same problem. Camera shuts down before i can even get to menue. All i can say is that is is cute. I bought another tiny camera for my purse that takes video and stills and that camera [didn't] cost [that much] and i get excellent 8 by 10 prints.
