Customer Reviews:
Simply doesn't work.......2007-07-30
I bought this printer for my wife. After unwrapping and installing it to the TV we were able to print maybe 10 pictures and then it continuously asked to put paper in the tray even when it already had it. Returned it to the store and got a replacement. After a few prints, I had the same problem. I finally gave up on it. Felt like I threw $100 to the trash.
Sony Picture Station DPP_FP50.......2007-07-07
I love the picture printer BUT where do you get the paper and the Print Cartridges.
I just went to Staples and to Office Max and neither of them had it. I can't even find it on the Sony site.
Please advise.

Great little printer.......2005-11-12
The reason I love this printer is because of its ease of use, and that's due to it's number one feature - TV output. I've had a tendency in the past to neglect photo printing because once I get our pictures onto my computer, I want to fiddle with them endlessly to "improve" them before I print them out. In the end I never do get around to it. Now we'll come home from a day of photo shooting, look at our pics on the TV and print out the good ones - then I can touch up the photos that need it at my leisure. And if I am too lazy to even do that, it's simple enough for someone else to take over, meaning it's much more likely to get done. It was great coming back from a Hawaiian vacation with my family and printing out pictures that day for them to take home!
This printer doesn't get 5 stars because of photo quality vs. cost of goods. You can get the printing packs for half a buck per photo, but professional printing will cost less. The photos from pros will usually look better too. While this is a dye sublimation printer, it only uses three colors of ink, so better inkjets, dye-subs and professional prints will have better colors than this machine. Based purely on tech specs this one should beat out most of the cheaper inkjets (including other stand alone photo printers in the same price range) but I haven't seen any side-by-side comparisons. On the plus side, the Sony does "print" a transparent layer over the picture that'll keep it from fading for quite a while. As for my personal opinion of the printouts (as a casual pic taker with a Canon SD500), I would give them an A-/B+. The colors could be a bit more vibrant, but I have also been surprised by just how much they will pop in a good pic. Ultimately however I feel that the convenience of having everyone sitting on the couch and picking out the photos they want through the television means the minor cost/quality issue becomes inconsequential, because without that convenience those pictures might never see the light of day in any form.
Overall I would recommend this unit to friends who do casual printing and want something that is very simple to use. I've even considered sending one to my mother for Christmas. While the interface as a whole is perhaps not quite as intuitive to use as an ipod, anyone who isn't scared by a cellphone or basic computer use should be able to handle it easily. It's also flexible, taking a variety of card formats and providing different options for choosing the pictures you want to print - though I would be surprised if you ever used anything but the TV out. And ultimately I think that anyone who gets it will be printing more photos than before.
Finally, a couple of notes for those who decide to take the plunge. Don't count on finding the 3.5x5 paper easily, I haven't seen it anywhere. ALL of the 4x6 paper is "postcard paper" - I was a bit confused at first looking for "normal" 4x6 packs. The paper has tear-off edges on the left and right - it's micro-perforated so you wont get any rough edges, but it's a bit of a pain to tear off without "fingerprinting" or creasing the photo. Enjoy!
Great Printer.......2005-08-04
I just received my printer tonight and could not wait to try it out. I have had a Sony digital camera for over two years, and have only been able to print pictures via my regular inkjet printer. I decided to purchase this photo printer so I could get much clearer, better quality pictures. I love that this printer allows you to print from a Memory Stick without having to connect the printer to your computer. It could not be easier. Just insert the memory stick in the printer and you are set to go. It was extremely easy to set up, and it comes with trial paper and ink. I have only used it to print out 6 pictures, but thus far I am very happy with my purchase. The photo's are extremely clear. They look like I took them to a high quality lab to have them developed!
Excellent Printer.......2005-08-02
This printer is wonderful and the picture quality is superb and they are so clear. I have a Cybershot T-1 camera and the combination is nice. The printer speed was quick too! I couldn't believe how easy it was to connect the printer to the TV and view the pictures that I had stored on my camera and edit the pictures using a remote control. I would recommend this printer because of the easy setup, quick printing speed, and excellent quality of the pictures.

Product Description
Panasonic KX-TC1743B digital cordless telephone operates on the 900MHz frequency for extended range and clarity and more secure conversations. The fact that this model is digital, helps to secure phone calls from potential eavesdropping. This phone is also Caller ID compatible. When used in conjunction with Call Waiting Caller ID, the Call Waiting Caller ID feature will display the caller's information on the multifunction, backlit, three-line LCD display located on the handset - even if the user is currently on another call when the second call comes in. A Caller ID memory with dialer for later review and instant callback capability of received calls is also viewable via the handset display. A Direct Dialer button provides "one-touch" access to an emergency or often-used phone number.A Digital Duplex Speakerphone - the tool for multiple party conversations - is included in KX-TC1743B. Digital circuitry helps reduce the echo and dropout commonly found in speakerphones and allows more natural sounding conversations. Built-in all-digital telephone answering systems record up to 15 minutes without the mechanical woes associated with cassettes, and let users instantly hear, save or delete individual messages. These models also allow users to administer outgoing and incoming messages remotely from any telephone with voice prompts to aid the process. Each message is affixed with a time/day stamp, so you'll always know when the call was received. The phone has New Message Playback for listening to newly received calls and a two-digit LCD call counter for viewing the number of calls received. Other features include a lighted handset keypad, dual keypads, and two-way paging/auto intercom for communication between the base and the handset. Additionally KX-TC1743B has hold/flash/redial; call screening and toll saver are included too.
Amazon.com Product Description
Now you can see who's called you, listen to their messages, and then talk to them hands-free, all with one economical phone. Packing a suite of advanced features, the Panasonic KX-TC1743 can be used in conjunction with call waiting/caller ID services, showing the names and phone numbers of callers on the three-line backlit LCD display on the phone's handset. Plus, operating at 900 MHz, the unit offers a longer range and better sound quality than older cordless phones using a lower frequency, and it features digital transmission for security.
The handset will store 50 caller IDs, which can be used almost as a virtual phone book, letting you easily review and call past callers. In addition to the 50-caller storage, you can program an additional 50 numbers into the base for your frequently dialed calls.
For even greater freedom of movement, the KX-TC1743's digital duplex speakerphone features digital circuitry and can be used either from the base or the handset, letting you enjoy the luxury of both cordless and hands-free operation.
The digital answering system stores up to 15 minutes of messages on a microchip, including the date and time the message was recorded. The answering machine has some smart features included, such as new-message playback (which only plays new incoming messages) and auto-interrupt for easy screening of calls. You can also use the machine's remote operation to listen to your messages from any touchtone phone when you're away from home. Panasonic offers a one-year warranty on parts and 90 days on labor.
Customer Reviews:
Rock solid bomber!.......2006-02-14
I've owned this workhorse for over 5yrs. Though I've put it the closet twice when I got "better" phones I keep coming back to this baby. It really stands up to some rough handling and it's very easy to use.
Not reliabile.......2005-05-24
Features wise this phone is OK, but it broke within one year after purchase day.
The sound in the headset became so quite, that you can only hear it in the very quite room, even on the loudest mode.
The phone shut itself down every one or two week and you have to unplug it from the power outlet for about 10 min and then plug it back, so it's start working again.
The speakerphone microphone is not sensitive enough, you can only use it within 2 feet from the base, otherwise other party will not hear you.
The buttons on the headset very hard and sometime is impossible to press.
My friend also bought Panasonic phone (different model), guess what, it broke within one year too.
I have Panasonic TV, DVD player and microwave oven and they work just fine for a few years now. Based on my own experience and also reading other people reviews, I think Panasonic has a very big reliability problem with their phones and they should address this issue ASAP.
Great Phone!!!!.......2005-04-05
In reading the reviews I thought I'd add my 2 cents since I've owned this phone for *at least* 5 years now with no problems. I got online to try and help a friend find a new 900 mhz phone so it won't interfere with her wi-fi. I looked up my phone to check the reviews and it sounds like if you get a good one you love it, a bad one it's not so good. My battery so far has been great though I'll probably need a new one pretty soon as the 4+ hr cont. talk time is now down to about 2ish and I can't leave it off the cradle overnight anymore and hold a charge.
However, I wonder if the problems aren't with the battery itself more than the phone. I say this because I also own another Panasonic cordless phone/answering machine and it has many of the same battery issues mentioned here. Overall though I'd say I'd buy this phone again in a heartbeat -- it's easy to use, the speaker on the handset is wonderful, especially when you get stuck on hold, and the range/features make for a very nice package. I've recommended this phone to others who love it as well.
An average model.......2005-01-25
You get what you pay for. I wanted an inexpensive model with Caller ID and voicemail.
Most of the features are just fine. However, the handset is way too quiet and the battery life is just horrible. It would not let you talk for more than 40 minutes - needs recharging.
(I owe that model for over a year.)

Product Description
HLM617W is a new-generation digital TV that finally addresses high-definition performance, compact design, and affordability when compared to other flat panel designs. The HLM617W displays 61 inches of breath-taking wide-screen viewing area that is elegantly framed in an ultra-light, thin-bezel cabinet. Weighing about 103 pounds and less than 20 inches deep, the HLM617W fits where most over 60" TV screens won't.The secret to this engineering marvel is a compact digital projector powered by a single, postage stamp-sized Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) that generates high-definition video images. These video images are created by proprietary digital light processing (DLP) techniques, and then magnified by an advanced array of optics. Its fully digital video design processes any analog or digital source - be it a VCR, DVD player, camcorder, or TV programming from digital satellite receivers and HDTV tuners. The DVI interface is compatible with Samsung's new-generation high-definition receivers for a pure digital picture. Samsung's HLM617W will also accommodate a computer too. Place it, mount it, rest it on a stand or wall-unit, and simply move it anywhere - its size and weight offer more placement possibilities over any other TV design. Finally, Samsung lets you put TV in its place.
Amazon.com Product Description
The 61" DLP TV displays a breathtaking widescreen viewing area that is elegantly framed in an ultra-light, thin-bezel cabinet. Weighing about 80 pounds and only 19.4 inches deep, it fits almost anywhere. You will experience perfect vision: Samsung's DLP projection TV delivers unmatched brightness, contrast levels, and color accuracy, plus full digital convergence and a host of top-notch features. Its sleek design and lightweight construction also make this monitor possibly the most attractive and versatile TV your home has ever seen.
HDTV with DLP technology
Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology is found in leading digital cinemas the world over. The heart of DLP technology is a micro-display panel no larger than a postage stamp, which integrates 921,600 microscopic mirrors to deliver eye-popping, high-definition detail, color, and clarity. Samsung applies the magic of DLP technology to your home theater via its patented, compact optical engine that replaces the large, heavy picture tubes found in direct-view sets. Best of all, Samsung DLP projection TVs are lighter, more affordable, and use far less power than plasma TVs. Now you can enjoy the spine-tingling thrills of digital television in a sleek, tabletop design that's significantly smaller, lighter, and brighter than a conventional projection TV. Samsung's advanced convergence technologies also make DLP projection TVs compatible with your HDTV tuner, PC, DVD, game console, VCR, camcorder, digital camera, and much more.
Samsung optical engine
Samsung's patented optical engine ensures maximum brightness, flicker-free video, detailed text, and still images, and a full 160-degree viewing angle. DLP micro-display technology and Samsung's proprietary Bent Light Lens System give you a big-screen TV without the big-screen hassle. Its ultra-slim, ultra-lightweight design lets you put it virtually anywhere. And its optical engine is durable, long-lasting, and never needs calibrating.
Digital perfection
DLP technology is the only display solution that enables projection systems to create a purely digital connection between a digital video or graphic source and the screen in front of you. The surface of the DLP panel is covered with almost a million micro-mirrors (1280 x 720) that act as pixels. This incredibly high pixel count creates a striking, digital image with seamless resolution, amazing detail, and brilliant, lifelike colors. And because the pixels are less than one micron apart, you won't notice the "screen door" effect apparent with other TVs.
Ultra-smooth action
Samsung's DLP micro-mirrors can switch on and off over 5,000 times a second--that's up to 10 times faster than other micro-displays. This allows DLP Projection TV to smoothly and accurately display fast-switching content like HDTV and DVD.
Brighter and clearer
|
At 400 cd/m2, DLP outshines other micro-display technologies for a bright, clear picture, with incredible contrast and color accuracy. Its unique optical engine preserves the intensity of the original image with vibrant colors and rich, deep blacks. Its high, 1000:1 contrast ratio makes for ideal color separation and crisp, detailed images. That's why Samsung's DLP projection TV is perfect for any source material that demands minute detail, such as HDTV, computer images, and DVDs. |
| |
Consistent screen image
The DLP projection TV is much more durable than competing technologies because the display doesn't physically age or deteriorate. Its ultra-high-pressure lamp delivers consistent light output and picture quality throughout its long lifespan.
Cinema progressive scan and 3:2 pulldown
The cinema progressive scan enhancement automatically upconverts all nondigital signals to a smooth, clear 720 lines of progressive scan. The 3:2 pulldown feature is a must for any movie enthusiast. It analyzes each frame of video, removing unclear frames that were added during the transfer from film to video. These added frames cause blurring, stuttering, and other motion artifacts, especially during fast-action sequences. 3:2 pulldown eliminates them and gives your DVDs a look and feel that's much closer to film. Cinema progressive scan with 3:2 pulldown is powered by Faroudja's patented DCDi video processing on Samsung DLP projection TVs.
1280 x 720 progressive display quality
Samsung delivers flicker-free, static images, thanks to its all-format conversion system. Progressive scan is a must for rock-steady text, still images, and smooth action sequences.
Wide viewing angle
Left side, right side, or upside-down--whatever your location, Samsung DLP projection TVs allow you to see any display clearly, thanks to its 160-degree-wide viewing angle. Unlike traditional projection TVs, the image doesn't get darker as you move away from the center.
What's in the Box
TV, remote control, two AAA batteries, and user's manual.
Customer Reviews:
Dont buy a Samsung DLP TV.......2007-07-08
Note: I had previously posted this review to a 70 inch Samsung. My review really applied to all Samsung DLP TVs, but Amazon wasn't letting me rate the 61 inch TV at the time. This is a reposting of the original review, but the review is now associated with the correct product.
I bought a $4500 61 inch TV about 18 months ago. I didn't buy the warranty, because the price seemed ridiculous at the time. Now I realize that was a poor decision.
A little more than a year after I bought the TV, I noticed a solid black vertical line that cut off about 5 or 10% of the picture. I had a service person from the store of original purchase come see the TV. He brought a $1200 "engine" with him, because he predicted that he would need to replace this part. In fact, he never bothered turning on the TV...he knew from just my description that he would need to replace this engine, as the dark line problem is very common with Samsung DLPs.
He installed this $1200 part and I called Samsung to let them know how disappointed I was in the product. They said that they are not able to help because the TV is out of warranty. I explained that this must be a manufacturing defect if the problem is so common that the technician doesn't need to turn on the TV. They just kept repeating that they can't help a consumer that has equipment that is out of warranty.
I performed a google search on Samsung DLP problems and I was very disappointed to see so many messages from people with Samsung DLP problems. The "buzz" on most of the electronics forums is that plasma screens are much more reliable. If you insist on buying a DLP from Samsung, you should definitely purchase the warranty.
BTW, as you consider my opinion, check out my other reviews. I'm usually a very satisfied customer and not someone likely to complain about a product.
BEWARE SAMSUNG DLP DESIGN FLAWS!!!.......2007-03-30
Consumers should be aware of serious design flaws which exist in Samsung DLP televisions. Cooling fans and color wheels are highly susceptible to failing. (As a non-techniocal person I should have no idea what these parts are, but alas, I bought a Samsung DLP) Expect these to fail within 1-2 years. Expect to pay approx $400 to replace the color wheel and $200 to replace the colling fan. That is, if your service technician can find them in stock anywhere. These parts are commonly in a national backorder because of the very high failure rates.
You should also expect the lamp to fail sooner than advertized. Many people need to purchase a new lamp between 1-2 years, and some more often than that. The lamp costs approx $150-$250 depending on your model, but you should be able to replace it yourself without too much difficulty. This cost will be in addition to replacement costs for the color wheel and colling fan. Please remember that these maintenance costs are recurring, and you will have to fix them again in another 1-2 years.
While I was very satisfied with the quality and performance of my DLP, my color wheel failed very early. I called tech support to report a grinding noise, and was told to "turn it off", wait 15 minutes, and turn it back on like this would fix the problem. After doing this for a while, the color wheel finally failed, actually shattered! Now I am out of warranty, and Samsung wants nothing to do with me. I have even tried ordering the part myself from two different online vendors, and they are both backordered indefinitely! It has been 6 weeks and they have no estimate for when this part will be available. Samsung cannot even give me an estimate when the supply of replacement parts is expected to meet demand. I have had my TV for 18 months, and apparently there is a national epidemic of them breaking at the same time!
I have a 42" Samsung Plasma which is a beautiful set along with a 26" CRT. Both are wonderful products, but Samsung is selling DLP LEMONS and will not stand behind them. DLP is a great bargain up front, but a maintenance NIGHTMARE! You will pay in the long run, and by the long run I mean every 2 years. If you still want to purchase a DLP television, PLEASE BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY! IT WILL SAVE YOU A TON, BUT YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE CIRCUIT CITY TECH TO FIND PARTS WHICH MAY TAKE MONTHS!
I expect Samsung to abandon their design flaw riddled DLP sector, and focus on their beautiful plasma line. Expect DLP prices to drop even further, but please...LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP!
Good picture, but too many problems over time.......2006-05-02
The main reason I am posting this comment is because I am looking for a copy of the original manufacturer's warrant for the HLN617W TV. I have had repeated problems with my TV and am trying to get reimbursed on a claim but I cannot find my original warranty card from Samsung. I have called Samsung and they claim to not be able to send out a copy (makes no sense to me.) If there are any owners out there that can send me a copy I would be greatful. Samsung Blows.......2005-12-10
I'm on my 2nd Engine, and it is beginning to show signs of a pending failure (it takes 3 or 4 minutes to warm up and turn on).
The Samsung Service dept stinks. I've been passed to different service "managers" too many times to count. They assure me that I will be getting a call from someone of authority. I've been waiting 2 months now. DON'T BUY SAMSUNG! 'nuff said.
Samsung Is Not The Best HDTV!!!!!.......2005-03-26
I recently bought the HLN617W 61" Samsung HDTV at Circuit City and the picture quality is good. At least most of the Samsung HDTV's have better picture quality than of Sony and Panasonic HDTVs.
I don't think Samsung has the best HDTV. But, their mobile phones are definity the best.
If there is a problem with the Samsung HLN617W 61" HDTV, I would think it will be the lamp problem. Also, if you turn on the Samsung HDTV for at least 1.5 or 2 hours, the lamp can easily burn out.
Another problem with this HDTV is that if turn on for a prolong
time, the HDTV will get overheated and the temp. light will go on
if the next time you turn on this HDTV.
Another problem would be the remote control of this HDTV. If you have other remote controls for your DVD player and your VCR player, it can really mess up the computer connection of your Samsung HDTV.
If you are thinking of buying a really good quality picture, I would recommend buying a Samsung HLN617W 61" HDTV. But if you want your HDTV to last long and it doesn't break easily, then I would
recommend other HDTV brands like Sony and Panasonic.

Not happy about company policy.......2007-04-27
I inadvertantly ordered the wrong expansion phone and had to return this. I was charged 15% restocking fee. That didn't seem quite fair. It wasn't damaged or used or touched except to unwrap it far enough to see that it was the wrong phone.
The Ultimate Cordless Phone Clock Radio.......2007-02-20
After several failures, I decided to just go with a brand name in which I had considerable confidence. I purchased the Panasonic expandable phone system and this accessory handset/clock radio. WOW. Great features, simple to use, nice big easy-to-read display. Excellent investment. Great performance so far.
Expanding home phone network.......2006-11-06
I already had a similar unit. That's why when one of my phones broke I decided to replace with this one since it was almost the same price and included a radio/alarm clock. The radio/alarm clock is basic but you are able to have 5 radio stations in memory. It's reliable. I've had a unit in my set of phones for over 3 years without any issues. There are newer phone models released but this one isn't short on any features. The phone itself is 5 stars. The speaker phone is loud and clear. The caller ID and phone book works like a charm. I would buy this phone again.
what's not to like?.......2006-11-02
Perfectly fine phone & clock radio. Integrated with Panasonic base phone it has caller ID, different ring tones & great coverage. The clock/radio is great.
Highly recommended.......2006-08-03
I have bought and used AT&T, SONY, UNIDEN and SHARP phones cordless phones before but I have to say, PANASONIC makes the most user friendly phones. It's easy to get in a conference using the multiple-handsets. The clock radio has a backlight, is easy to read and wakes me up to NPR radio. Directory and Caller ID is easy to use. Synching up phone directory between multiple handsets is a snap.
The only suggestion I would have for Panasonic is to use Lithium Ion batteries instead of Nickel Metal Hydrides. This way we would not have to worry about battery memory effect. I have had the phone for about an year now and not had any problems.
