Great CD's for the buck........2007-07-26
These CD's are offered at a reasonable price & handle & record as good as any that i've handled. Definitely recommended.
They work, but they are not very sturdy.......2007-01-15
I have bought many CDs before. These are good, but they scratch very easily. If you want some CDs, shop around for Sony. Sony CDRs are the best. These are great for their price. I got mine free after rebate, so Im not really complaining. I plan on using these to store some old data from my computer. I wont be touching the CDs much, so I doubt they will get scratched. If you are looking for some CDRs to copy music and use in your car, etc - then go for something better.
Good purchase.......2007-01-09
Well it nice to have this offer, it is the best offer one can get.
Don't buy these.......2006-12-20
These CDR's are NOT PRINTABLE. There are red lines and red and blue graphics on the surface. The item description is incorrect. Don't waste your time and money like I did.
Some of them doesnt work. CHeap quality CDRs.......2006-03-10
Their quality is cheap. so do their price. Out of the 25 CDs, atleast 8 of them failed. The rest, okay. I would suggest Verbatim. They are pretty good.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent blank CDs with a lower than generic price!.......2005-03-19
These CDs are perfect for my audio/video/data needs. They performed way better than "generic" brand CDRs and with an even lower price! (Just $0.10 each) The cheapest CDRs I got before were about $0.12 cents each but they flake off easily and sometimes resulted in coasters. With these... so far, so good! I hope they stock up again soon... and I hope they keep the same low price of $4.99 for a pack of 50!
Great deal!
Not Long lasting.......2004-11-03
The silver coating can go off very easily. So will not be good for long term storage.
Out of the package, some of the cds were sticking together. And the silver coating started coming out on one of them.
Probably will work if i can get some kind of a sticker to cover the top. Don't know if there is something like that in the market
Another reviewer noted that they are advertised as such. Its true. So incase you want a set of cheap cdr for a short term usage or temporary storage, it might be a good buy.
Not bad..........2004-11-02
These discs work good...these are Prodiscs. I have never had a problem with this brand. These have shiny silver tops so it's easy to damage the top and have it start flaking off on you but any silver top media will do that...
I'm not disappointed...high speed 52x/silver tops... as advertised

Customer Reviews:
Worst media I have ever purchased.......2005-10-18
I have over a 50% failure rate on this media. I have burned 10 CDs and only 2 of them have been readable in other machines. I can burn the same files with different media flawlessly. I would not recommend these CDRs unless you have a need for a large amount of coasters.
Poor media.......2005-09-26
I bought these on a whim for $7.99, and have had nothing but problems, better than 50% FAILURE Rate. Those that did burn had defects like heavy noise in the recordings, unable to read, etc. I verified it was the media by burning same project with phillips media and had no prblems. The small cost didn't make it worhtwhile to return, so I ate the cost and tossed them out!
Customer Reviews:
Haven't really had a problem but.......2006-03-18
Haven't really had a problem but some of the disks have big blue blotchs on the writing surface. I was surprised when they burned OK, so maybe it is not really a defect.
Edited 7/7/06: These really suck. About half will not burn. Of the half that did burn OK, half of those will not play. I didn't know they still made discs half this bad.
Doubleplus-ungood.......2006-02-23
I've bought a lot of generic CD and DVD media for burning and these CD-Rs are without a doubt the worst I've ever bought. So far I've made about 12 coasters and am not even half way through the spindle of 100. I wrote to Velocity customer service to tell them of the problem and was ignored. I'm not an idiot and know how to burn a CD and get around quality problems but these discs don't care. I also have five different CD burners and these discs have crapped out in every one of them.
My advice is not to buy these unless you get them with a 100% rebate offer to pay for them and you don't have to pay for shipping or sales tax (in other words, if you can get them for free then OK otherwise stay away). If you submit a rebate keep really good documentation of your rebate submission because they will screw it up as well. I consider myself a "rebate master" and have never had a problem that a company wouldn't fix in terms of rebates except for these guys. They wanted information from me that I have never kept for any rebates I've submitted over many years of submitting them. When I told them I didn't have that very specific piece of information (I had the receipt, the UPC code copy, the product label copy, etc.) instead of them trying to find a solution, they just ignored the email and never responded. What is more interesting though is that I received a rebate from them the next day for something of theirs I never bought which wasn't for the same rebate amount but I figured that it was not worth my time pursuing it any further. So keep records and copies of your stuff before submitting the rebate.
The lesson I get from the Velocity folks is that if you say something to them about their products or rebates that they don't like, don't expect to hear back from them.
There are plenty of CD media bargains out there so look for them and stay away from these.
The only reason I gave these a 2 star instead of a one star rating is that a there were a few good CDs in the batch.
very bad cdrs... and only have 350mb capacity..........2005-08-23
I have burn these CDR, but none of them are burnt successfully. This brand cdr seems that it only have 350mb capacity. if you burn more, the file will be damaged!! my suggest is that read the customer comments before you buy a very cheap thing, it is very important. If you see two or more bad comments, then just trust it... and now I begin to worry about my rebate...'cause the CDR had been sent after the date, but i got the reply from amazon, saying that I can mail my rebate form after i got these cdrs. but i can not stop worrying when i saw all the bad comments about the rebate.
No good cdr.......2005-08-12
I have burn these CDR with almost full 702mb of DivX files on it, every time I burn the verify process will fail at the end, so this brand don't have the full 700mb capacity. if you burn 640 its ok, I suggest you go with something else if you want your memory saved. and I still haven't got my rebate yet.
Mail-in-rebate scam.......2005-08-09
If there are mail in rebates on the items you purchase, and if there is a clause like you have to mail in the form within a specific number of days from the purchase date, be assured, The Amazon and the product manufacturer makes sure that it arrives to your home after that day to make sure you won't submit your rebate form.

Product Description
Go wide, view more picture, fill the screen, and see progressive scan DVDs or HDTV as the director intended. The Samsung TXN3098WHF Neo Slim-Width Design HDTV Monitor gives you more picture with less cabinet (approximately 2 or more inches less width than typical 30" widescreen or 32" 4: 3 HDTV Monitors). Picture performance is unmatched with enhancements like the exclusive Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe), an 8-bit 20 MHz 3D Y/C comb filter, a high focus fine pitch DynaFlat HD flat picture tube, and 3: 2 Pull Down film to video frame rate correction. See the difference - an optional Samsung HDTV receiver/decoder can make to the clarity and resolution. A full set of connections includes DVI-HDTV and 2 sets of auto sensing wideband component inputs. Even regular TV looks better because all analog signals are converted to digital, processed, and presented in the better flicker-free progressive scan. Features like 2 NTSC tuner split/picture-in-picture, an easy navigation translucent on-screen display, and a full function universal remote make watching TV fun and uncomplicated. The Neo Slim-Width Design hides the subwoofer in the back, uses mid and high frequency built-in satellite speakers in the front on the bottom, and delivers 45 watts of great sound with a sleeker slimmer design.
Amazon.com Product Description
Samsung's stylish, 32-inch TXN3098 DynaFlat high-definition digital TV monitor offers full 1080i input capability for use with a DTV set-top box or a progressive-scan DVD player. The set uses a 4:3-aspect ratio DynaFlat HD screen with an antidistortion/antiglare picture tube. Its Pro Chip Plus NTSC-to-480-progressive-scan system converts all incoming analog sources (like VCR, cable, or nonprogressive DVD) to a 480p display, eliminating conventional TV scan lines for a "flicker-free" picture.
An especially attractive feature of this feature-loaded TV is its "neo slim-width" design, which conserves space while delivering high-quality video and audio. A separate enclosure houses a 25-watt-powered subwoofer in the back of the set, eliminating the need for bulky side speakers. The mid- and high-frequency speakers (10 watts each) reside in the front panel, optimally positioned beneath the screen.
Total DSP (Digital Signal Processing) converts standard analog broadcast TV signals to digital and compensates for varying signal strengths, while the set's 8-bit, 20 MHz 3D Y/C comb filter removes blurred edges between colors and reduces dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). Velocity-scan modulation improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas.
The TXN3098 also offers 3:2 pull down. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pull down digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture. Samsung's DNIe Video Enhancer (or Digital Natural Image engine) enhances all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, and picture detail, incorporating digital noise reduction to improve low-quality video sources.
Other features include two-tuner split-screen picture-in-picture, BBE High-Definition Sound (improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of compressed musical passages), V-Chip parental controls, and plug-and-play setup, which uses automation and a simple menu to select the source (broadcast or cable), set the clock, and map the active channels.
Inputs consist of a DVI-HDTV input for direct digital connection with a DTV receiver, dual high-definition DVD/DTV component-video inputs, an RF input (for an older VCR or cable box), and three rear and one set of side-panel audio/video inputs (including one S-video input) to accommodate a camcorder, game console, or other sources. The set comes with a universal remote control.
What's in the Box
TV, remote control, remote batteries, user's manual, and warranty information.
Customer Reviews:
Close race between this and the Toshiba.......2004-09-19
I wanted a TV that would fit in my existing entertainment system, so the options were very easy between this Toshiba 30HF84 (the replacement for the 30HF83) and Samsung TXN3098, both which were less than 33" wide. The decision on which one, however, was excruciating for me. I had a difficult time finding either of them in person to compare side by side, researched every possible feature down to the smallest detail, ending up looking at the Samsung 26" or a similar model Toshiba in the store for comparison purposes, and read all the online reviews you could imagine. Yes, I'm one of those types of people. In the end, I chose the Toshiba based on the following:
Pros on Toshiba
- Less money
- I bought it locally so it got here in time for football season
- Generally thought of as better product than Samsung
Cons on Toshiba
- Does not have PiP
- Silver case instead of charcoal (my preference)
Pros on Samsung
- In the store, seemed to have a brighter picture
- Had PiP
Cons on Samsung
- An issue - as seen in reviews and confirmed by their tech support - where if you go in and set the picture to wide, stretched, etc, it doesn't remember it and you have to reset it each time you turn on the tv.
- Generally thought of as a lower end product, but I had differing stories that they were making TVs for Sony, they were up and coming, etc etc.
The Decision
I was going back and forth for 2 weeks. Was I stupid to get the Toshiba if the Samsung picture looked better? Did I need PiP? There were pros and cons on each. In the end, I realized that I would be getting a great TV no matter what. I called tech support for both companies and got right through. So in the end, the switching-modes issue for Samsung was a slight factor, but the Toshiba was $200 cheaper and I could have it 2 days later (I consider this a 'filler' TV anyway for a year or two until I'm ready to step up to a 42" plasma when prices come down).
Here's what sucks... while I was concerned because of the Samsung issue in switching modes, this feature is not usable AT ALL for me on the Toshiba. I have Time Warner in NYC and HD channels work fine widescreen in that mode. But non-HD channels show up as 4:3 and I guess they're broadcasting at 1080 or 720, because I can't stretch a 4:3 show into wide mode. Toshiba only can take 480 signals and stretch them. Could be a setting I'm missing, but that's me. However, I'm finding I mostly watch the main networks and DVDs anyway. Right now I hooked up my 'regular' DVD player through digital audio cables and component video, and it looks and sounds spectacular. Not sure how much better it can get with a progressive scan player, but they're only $65 so I'm going to get one anyway and hope there's at least a noticeable difference.
Bottom Line
Both TVs are sweet, and I am very very happy so far with the Toshiba. I bet I would be just as happy with the Samsung. I have it hooked up through an HDTV digital cable box with DVR built in using component video, and to my receiver with Digital Audio Coaxial cables for sound. Ten seconds watching Discovery Channel HD Theater and you'll be in heaven. I recorded the Patriots-Colts NFL kickoff game and have been using that as a demo to show my friends how good the signal and picture are. I'm looking forward to a great fall of football, baseball playoffs and am currently buying some 'surround sound widescreen' DVDs off Amazon (True Lies, Ronin, Braveheart, Gladiator, True Romance, The Fugitive, Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Carribbean, etc) to build up a little collection.
No customer support.......2003-11-18
It looks good but their support is terrible. The TV arrived with a bad tube. It sat on the shop for repair for 3 weeks before Samsung gave any answer. They finally said that they wouldn't send a replacement tube. I then had to ship it back to the dealer at my cost. Don't buy Samsung products. Your may save in the front end but you loose in the back end !
WHY no 720p support?.......2003-11-17
Yea why dosent any of Samsungs HD-ready tube televisons even the high quality tantus series not support 720p. These tv's are great for DVD veiwing but if your a video game player like me then you should check out the Toshiba 30" HD ready tv. it has a smaller footprit than samsungs 26" 16:9 TV and supports all HD signals it also is the same price. so if you are not a video game fanatic then Samsung HD Tube tvs are great, nice price for size but still no 720p support.
Excellent HDTV, but Service is a Problem.......2003-10-28
I spent six months looking at small HDTV sets for my living room before settling on the Samsung TXM3098, which was replaced by the TXN3098. It is a wonderful set in many ways:
- Beautiful, vivid picture with an HDTV signal (I use RCN cable) or with DVD input (I am using composite input for DVD)
- Very good picture with a standard signal (much better than my old set, with four screen size options)
- Terrific sound for a stand-alone set
- Easy-to-navigate menu system
My major complaint is service: I am suffering from geometric distortion with some signals, and Samsung shows absolutely no sign of being willing to return my call or stand behind their product. This is very disturbing.
Excellent for HDTV and DVD, bad for other things.......2003-09-29
I absolutely love this TV. Its shortcomings: like all widescreen TV's, it gives a distorted image of signals it receives that aren't in widescreen format. If you don't have access to HDTV and don't expect to get it soon, don't even think about this TV, unless you only want it for DVD's. You'll be terribly frustrated. I certainly was for the first five months owning the TV. Then Comcast suddenly added HDTV offerings. It's absolutely _amazing_ for live HDTV sporting events, and for movies, especially new movies. It's still worse than a regular TV for non-HDTV offerings. But I would say that if you believe that HDTV will continue to take over, and are willing to be patient, you will be very, very happy with this TV.

Great product-Not the dealer.......2003-04-09
This is a great product when a tv is not available. I have used another model (fmd-20p) before. Great with my PS2. ... a great product.
Well worth it!.......2002-03-27
I travel a ton - and got tired of people sitting next to me watching my movies on my portable DVD player (panasonic). Now I watch in total privacy and ignore everyone around me - it's perfect!
As for the display - it's just like watching a 51-inch screen from about 6 feet away (my best guess). Much better than squinting at the tiny screen on a portable or the airline screens. I look forward to my next roadtrip in a car as well.
I highly recommend the eye-trek, I've only had it for a couple weeks and have already fallen in love.
An OK introductory product but there are some flaws..........2001-01-08
I don't know how it started but I somehow got it into my head that I needed one of these gadgets. After tracking down a shop which would let me demo one I handed over my cash and rushed home to try it out "properly" !
I already own a portable DVD player so I thought the Eye-Trek would be a great compliment.
The unit is pretty easy to connect up. The glasses connect to a small cigarette-packet sized unit. You then connect this to the video and sound outputs on your device (portable DVD player in my case).
You wear the Eye-Trek like a pair of shades - I have to wear prescription glasses and the Eye-Trek fits comfortably over these. The side arms also contain the earphones which you just unhook and place in your ears. The unit is quite light but I felt a bit of an idiot with my specs underneath (contact lenses might be better).
Press a button on the main unit and the display appears. You have to go through a warning message and a password screen.
I tried out a few DVD's to test the unit - Gladiator, Fantasia and Kevin and Perry Go Large.
First impressions were WOW!. It really did appear as if a huge projection screen was in front of me. The image was in focus and it felt comfortable quite quickly. I'm not sure if it really is 52" display but if felt like the picture was on the wall on the other side of the room.
After a few moments though I did start to think the image was a bit grainy - nowhere near TV quality. The colours were a bit faded but you can alter the contrast/brightness settings although it won't be perfect.
After a couple of films I decided to return the unit. For me, the lack of decent resolution was the main reason - it's just too grainy.
Also, there are just too many cables - a cable between the Eye-Trek and controller unit. You then have a video connection and left/right sound connections and a power supply lead and PSU. This is supposed to be portable !
I haven't given up on the Eye-Trek though. Olympus produce a high-end version which I have ordered and so will report back with my findings.
EYE WEAR.......2000-12-05
IT IS COOL AND I LIKE TO GET ONE FOR MY FRIND WHEN I GET THE CHANCE TO.
A good private viewing with minor setbacks..........2000-11-20
If you are interested in the Olympus Eye Trek already you are surely aware of obvious limitations to video headware and are unconcerned about them. I had wanted to buy a piece of video headwear for a while now and made this purchase after viewing through a store version on display. The picture does appear to mimic a large screen several feet away (62' screen I wouldn't commit to, but it is comfortably like a 48 inch projection TV at 10 feet) and the video is ever so slightly pixelated (nothing horrible for video viewers). I havent tried it for computer use yet but I feel it might be too limited for computers. Because of the focus issue so as to preserve eye sight you must wear your corrective lenses while wearing the Eye Trek 200. The headgear does not encompass your eyes thus leaving you with a decent percentage of periferal vision. There are really nice little audio headphones in the ear pieces which come out to tuck in your ears. A line goes from the headset to a power and control box which is the size of a deck of cards without the battery attachment. There is an optional powercord for use with an outlet. From the control box you attach a cord to a variety of video inputs (S-video, RCA jacks, or small video jack). For my preference there are just a few too many cords used in this affair. Once encased in the video experience it can become a little disconcerting because you have little recognition of what might be going on around you in the real world. So far I have used it to watch TV privately at night without causing noise or light to wake the house: perhaps the greatest utility of this device. Other then that it is just a fun little gizmo. If you have the money or the overwhelming desire its a safe bet, but to all others I suggest waiting for a better version which no doubt will be cheaper within the following years.
