An inexpensive alarm clock that vibrates and awakens me! I am hearing impaired so a regular alarm does not work. This clock can be attached to your pillow or placed on a night stand; I put mine on the night stand as the vibration causes a "pounding" sound at a pitch level that works for me. Small enough to travel with.

Lousy product reliability.......2006-09-07

We've had this alarm clock for 6 months and it suddenly stopped working. I took it back to Sharper Image and was told it was sub-standard and that's why they don't have it anymore. They offered me a $40 credit to buy thier new updated one for $99! Why would I throw good money after bad!! Not only do I not recomend this alarm clock I further warn against purchasing anything from Sharper Image. This isn't the first time they have burned us with lousy products.

I bought this alarm because I wanted to be woken up in the middle of the night without disturbing my partner. In other words I was interested in the vibrating feature.
The alarm is loud as said when you use the sound, but even if you only use the vibrating disk which is pretty ennoying (and even between pillows.) It doesn't only shakes me, it always wakes up my partner every single time I use it...

Amazing Clock.......2005-12-24

I bought this clock because I was going to be working grave shifts and sleep during the day, and I needed something that would wake me up with earplugs in. The vibrating disk goes inside my bottom pillowcase (I use 2 pillows) and has never fallen out. This clock actually makes me get up the first time it goes off (much to the pleasure of my wife). I agree with the other reviews... The clock feels unstable because of its small base, but I quickly learned how to hold it to turn it off. As far as a reset, when I get up I turn the alarm to off and then right back on again, that way I won't forget. I highly recommend this clock!

Vibrating alarm clock.......2005-09-21

If you sleep in a high noise environment, or have trouble hearing, then this alarm is a great solution. I would rate it a 5/5 stars for that purpose. I would, however, give it a 1/5 star rating for its form, function and quality. It does the bare minimum of its intent, but it is styled and built so cheaply that I am in near constant fear of knocking it over and breaking it, especially as the snooze button is at the unsteady top of the thing. It is too unstable for a half-asleep person to turn off. Additionally, it has no automatic reset function (that I have found at any rate). If you want to turn the alarm off, then you must turn the switch to off. If, as most people do, you want it to wake you up at the same time again the next morning, then you must turn it on again. To keep from knocking the blasted thing over while doing this requires both hands. Every other electronic alarm I have ever used has a reset button to perform this important task.

bad monitor - very fuzzy.......2007-06-13

Don't buy this monitor - after a couple of years of use, the graphics and text are so blurry it's impossible to read anything. Several attempts to ajust color, focus, etc. resulted in no improvement. Samsung support was of no help.

A great gift.......2006-06-21

I received this monitor as a Christmas present in 2003. The product is still being used and I am quite happy with it. While it is generally still in good shape, there are a few things I've noticed since first use and more recently.

The image quality hasn't deteriorated, but there are now wave like patterns ever present on the screen. These aren't highly noticeable, but if you look for them intentionally, they're hard to miss. Another issue I've noticed is that, much of the time, the on-screen display curves at the corners and, sometimes, when the monitor is turned off and back on, the display will appear to edge off the screen. I'm not sure what causes either of these to happen, but they've proven to be minor concerns. To that end, the only thing that's really bothered me is the weight of it. It's not much heavier than most CRT monitors, but it's caused the center part of my desk to bow. It could be that the desk is of lower quality, I really don't know.

Overall, this is a great monitor. The 19 inches provide a pleasantly large viewing format and the flat screen perspective is nice as well.

1 Year Review.......2005-02-21

I've had this monitor for a little over a year now and it has performed well. The screen, though not the crispest, most beautiful picture available, is excellent for what I paid for it. The color accuracy is decent, with the adjustment controls being relatively straightforward. There are, however, a couple of problems that lowered the score of this monitor in my mind.

Issue #1: The cable connecting the monitor to the CPU is way too short. I have a moderately size L desk and the cable barely reaches the CPU. Indeed, the cable has sustained damage (I have to tape it to make it work properly) because of this. While extension cables are available, Samsung should have anticipated the need for a long cable by either making the cable longer or offering a way to disconnect the cable entirely so that the customer could substitute a longer cable.

Issue #2: The programs included with the monitor were translated poorly. While someone with a bit of technical knowledge can smirk through these mistakes, a novice might have some frustrating moments trying to figure out what the well-intentioned programmer meant. A note to Samsung: Hire better translators! ;-)

All in all, though, I have been pleased. The resolution suits my needs and I don't notice any problems with flicker or blurriness as some reviewers have mentioned.

Not too great.......2004-05-05

The main problem with this monitor is that almost all of the resolution and frequency combinations cause the screen to dance and wave. In other words, they are unusable unless you want to get a headache after using your computer for a few minutes. Only a few of the combinations work. For some reason, 60Hz and 1600*1200 works just fine. I'd choose a lower resolution so that everything on my screen wouldn't be really small, but the lower resolutions don't work, so I guess I'm stuck with this setting. Strange, in a bad way. This monitor was bought as a replacement for a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 900u, which was also a 19". It gave me five good years before it decided it was time to go to monitor heaven. It was a great monitor while I had it.

CRT monitors are so cheap now; I can't imagine there aren't some good cheap CRT's. Check out what other customers say about other models. I guess I can't expect to get the same quality from a $200 monitor as I got from the $900 Mitsubishi. In any case, consider spending a bit more money on a better monitor. You are going to have to use it and look at it hour after hour. Get something else.

blur text drives me crazy........2004-04-11

I bought this monitor April 2001 and now its blur text drive me crazy. Playing with the control doesn't help. I am disppointed and will dump it.

Several reviews mention the improvement when these cables to replace a composite (L/R audio + video) cable, or an S-video (multi-pinned plug). ALmost all of that improvement is due to the fact that these cable connection methods are completely different types in signal format and the TV uses different internal circuitry for each one. Virtually any S-video cable connection will give a better image than a composite type cable, and any component (individual R-G-B video) connection will be better than S-video. Cable brand has absolutely nothing to do with it. There may be some difference between one brand of component cable and another, but its almost always unnoticable.

Do you own a 27 inch TV with a $27 DVD player? Don't bother. Do you own a $5000 amp, a $3000 DVD player, and a set of speakers that you might bury yourself in? Don't bother buying, unless you want to burn money. Monster may look pretty, and the performance of Monster vs. no name is certainly proven in the quantifiable scientific analysis...but your ear can't hear it.
Simply put, buy comparable cables with and without the Monster name and run a test with your ears. You will probably find that you can save yourself significant $ by purchasing equally constructed cabling without the Monster name...

Top Notch Cable.......2004-08-05

This is a great video cable, though it's very spendy. Superior to composite & S Video. Monster classifies it as "ultimate performance". I'd say only DVI & HDMI, which are both digital, are better. I needed a 2M or 6.5' cable because the 1M was just too short for my needs. I looked at this one (90$) and Monster's new THX Ulta 1000 4' component cable(100$). They had equal features. The THX cable is better looking than this one, however when it came down to it I didn't want to spend 10 extra bucks on a cable that's 2.5' shorter! Now this cable isn't THX certified, but it is certified by Imaging Science Foundation. I typically recommend Monster Cable, I feel they are the leader in A/V cables. This is a great fit for a progressive scan DVD player and/or HDTV. Get the most out of what you paid for! Rock On.

What the Shure M97xE lacks in detail and excitement it more than makes up for in ease of listening. This cartridge has been dubbed "the best cartridge in the under $100 class".

It won't give you a headache or make your ears cringe during difficult passages. You won't tire of listening to your stereo after just one LP. The nice thing is you will forget about all the hype and gadgetry and get back to listening to music your way.

Shure M97xE cartridge.......2007-08-13

I decided to purchase the Shure after having two expensive cartridges
with stylus suspension issues.The Shure is not as detailed as the BPS
or the Aurum Beta however it has a relaxed quality that makes listening to LP's enjoyable.It does very well with groove noise and inner groove
distortion. It also is a excellent tracker in my Rega RB-300 arm.I now
regret selling my Shure Ultra 500 years ago.

Shure MX97 .......2007-08-10

I recently replaced my old cartridge on a 1980's DD Technics turntable. I chose this model based on Shure's reputation and reviews from other buyers. I have only spent an hour or two listening so far. However, I am very pleased with what I hear. I'm pleasantly surprised by the balance of the Shure MX97 - bass through treble are all well projected, evenly. My old cartridge by comparison sounded flat overall and weak on the bass end. This cartridge brings new life out of my old vinyl collection! I highly recommend as an excellent value for discriminating listeners.

I believe this is currently Shure's top-of-the line phono cartridge, and it is superb. You would not suspect this from Amazon's modest asking price, yet
this cartridge will track circles around the competition (pun intended, and
it's absolutely true!). I've collected vinyl for over 40 years, used bargain
basement cartridges as well as $3000 moving coils--the M97xE will match them all, and best most of them. Yes, the sound is refined, but it has plenty of
slam on jazz recordings, and it's always splendidly musical. It simply opens
a giant window on the music and steps out of the way. It tracks at 1 gram,
your LP's last forever, and your stylus life is very extended--great design, Shure. Buy it, and put it in the best turntable you can afford, and you won't be disappointed.

I bought the ION USB turntable so that I could convert all my vinyl to CDs. The cartridge that came with it was 'OK' but the album lacked both high and low end presence. I hadn't boughten a new cartridge for over 20 years, but thought I would go with an old standard of mine. The cartridge arrived without the mounting hardware and Shure quickly sent me a kit. What a difference!! It was noticeably better if not strikingly more CD like in dynamic range. You can't go wrong with this product - period.
