Built-in obsolescence.......2007-04-09

This phone system works great at first but soon enough, the #1 key stops working, as mentioned elsewhere in these reviews. Repair is expensive (almost $100) and only works, again, for a while. Other problems include bad sound (the phone starts to sound like you're under water), buzzing, etc... A real rip-off with absolutely zero customer support from Panasonic, who earns the title of Biggest Rip-Off from me. Avoid them at any cost, and if your units start malfunctioning, consider ditching the system altogether for a better one, rather than putting good money after bad.

Defective handsets.......2007-03-06

We are having the same problem as most of the other reviewers. The #1 button stops working, so dialing becomes impossible. Panasonic's response is to have the customer pay $90 to fix each handset, and since it's a multi line phone system, there are multiple handsets involved. Just inputting the model number in an internet search engine finds similar complaints across the web. If I hadn't found such an overwhelming number of complaints, I would have assumed it was simply my unit and had no problem paying for the repairs. But this defect is widespread, and Panasonic should be responsible for their defective item.

Successful repair of Panasonic KX-TGA400B keypad problem!!.......2007-01-15

I was able to successfully repair the "number one keypad problem" of all three of our Panasonic KX-TG400B handsets by carefully disassembling them (removing the battery first, observing static-safe procedures, etc.) and then cleaning the circuit board area around SW13 (the #1 key) _and_ the back side (including the black pad) of the "1" button on the rubber keypad itself using a paper towel wetted with grain alcohol.

Will it work with other alcohols or cleaners? I have no idea. The grain alky worked for me, so I saw no need to do further experimentation.

Good luck; be careful. If you are not confident in your ability to take the handset apart and do this procedure without causing further damage, my only advice is: Don't try it.

[BTW, my rating of this product would have been 5 stars but for the #1 keypad and intermittent headset jack problems we've encountered--it's a great solution for our telephone needs]

Great system for small business-Gran sistema para pequeñas empresas.......2007-01-06

I bought the first system 4 years ago and it is still working. We had problems with the #1 but it is easily fixable by replacing the keypad (you can do it yourself in less than 0 minutes). Also you can prevent it by dialing with your index instead of you thumb. This phone really gives a small business great flexibility and features only found in much more expensive units. So far I have bought also one for my parents, and my in-laws small business.

Tuvimos problemas con el #1 pero es fácilmente reparable, sólo se necesita remplazar el teclado ( lo puede hace uno mismo en menos de 10 minutos). También puede prevenirse la falla utilizando el dedo índice para marcar en lugar del dedo gordo. Este teléfono realmente le da a una pequeña empresa la flexibilidad y características de unidades muchísimo más caras. Hasta el momento he comprado además una unidad para mis pares y para mis suegros para sus negocios.

Keypad Issue.......2006-10-12

This phone system is great, except for the fact that the number 1 keys on every single one of our six handsets don't function without a lot of encouragement. Unfortunately, this makes the phone system a struggle to use almost every time we go to make a call. Our business is currently looking for a replacement phone system after only two years with Panasonic.

I've had NO trouble with this device whatsoever and found the entire manual online with no trouble either--however I didn't need the manual to use it. This is my first MP-3 player and I found it absolutely amazing! I'm thinking of getting a second one for my son for his birthday in March. I highly recommend it, especially for the first time owner of an MP-3. I immediately subscribed to a music service and got it up and going, as well as loading up the cds in my collection from computer to this device. I use the timed shut off fuction at night before bed regularly, as husband watches tv that drives me nuts and I would rather hear tunes to relax. Can't say enough good about this one. Since it was a refurbished item, I went the extra mile for the 2 year warranty and strongly suggest you do so too.

Poor quality, poor return policy........2006-03-22

Oh how I wanted this little baby to work for me! Well, it didn't and it died in February of '06 after I bought it in December of '05. I went a couple of rounds with the business that is contracted out to service Samsung's products (because they don't do it in house). The service center was nice and accomodating but still couldn't get it to work. And it had all the options I was looking for (le sigh). I should have paid heed to the poor reviews and bought something else. Now, unfortunately, I'm thinking of getting an Ipod because of the great reviews on Cnet. I'm out $114.00, which I could have spent on a player that worked. Not happy at all.

I bought this after doing some research on flash players. I am thus far extremely happy with my choice. I have already accidentally dropped the player a few times,and so far have incurred no noticeable damage. The player works perfectly when running for long periods of time. I thought the interface was very easy to get used to, after a once-through on the user manual. Go Samsung!

Easily broken.......2006-03-10

A bought this mp3 player because it had a color screen, but a week later it craked and all i could see was this swirly blue and pink thing(like your calculator looks when you break it). And Samsung of course would never cover the waranty. I accepted that i couldnt get the screen fixed, but i figured as long as it still played music, it was good enough...two months later, it stoped working all together. It can't even turn on. I'm so disapointed with the quality of this, that i dont intend on buying another Samsung product anytime soon

This has got to be one of the best cd boomboxes that I have ever had the pleasure own or hear. It is quality all the way. Panasonic really out did themselves on this one! I can't understand why they discontinued this model as it was a very well rated and received boombox. I love the design and especially the sound. It is not over bassy and yet it packs a punch! I have had a newer Sony model and took it back to the store because the bass sounded artificial and vibrated and made a tinny sound which was absolutely horrible. Panasonic is definitely better quality than Sony has been lately. Buy this one and you won't be dissappointed. I bought mine used off eBay and it was worth every penny.

This panasonic boombox is wicked,haha. I love the futuristic look. The sound quality is good, I can bump my rap or r&b and the speakers can pump that bass. It's fairly easy to operate as well. The radio stations come in clear and you know they had to include a remote right? Yup, I don't have to get my lazy a$$ up to change radio stations or perform other functions if I don't want to. The sound virtualizer makes a song sound spacey, real raw. Now I know I said stick to Sony with portable audio but Panasonic is trying to come up. This boombox is great for 3 main reasions: One - It's size makes it easy to fit in any room or set up, it fits just fine on top of my small bookshelf. Two - The style can't be beat. The whole futuristic layout worked good. And Three - Sound quality is bumping. It can hang with some of the bigger and more expensive audio sets. That's my two cents on this boombox, I'm out.

After reading the glowing reviews that several had sent in in 2000, I just had to get this model and see for myself if it was as good as it's prebillings purported.

After putting my own new unit through it's paces, I'm here to report, it's not as good as stated, it's BETTER!!

Panasonic does it again. I experimented with many brands, but it seems that I can always count on Panasonic to give me some of the best features, sound, and quality for a reasonable price. The look and feel of the display and controls seemed as if they belonged on a set that cost ... more. One exception - no batteries included with the remote control?! Sound is very good, operation is smart, and a lot of features for the price. For a boombox, I was also amazed at how loud I could go before distortion. Again, for the price its hard to beat. It's not the quality of a mini-component system but the price isn't as high either. This will accompany my 1982 Panasonic boombox that still sounds & works great, but does not have a CD player.

Oh the problems I have had... (note that I only use the B side of the unit ) ...
1. frequent auto-reboots. Yep, it resets itself at random...
2. very limited range... walk into the kitchen => no signal
3. limited compatibility... Had to replace a few cards ( MS & SMC work & can be found cheap )
4. the wireless connection seems to slow to a halt... you can still pull an ip and browse the internet (at circa 2400 baud speeds)... a reset of the unit fixes this momentarily, but considering you have to either a) walk to the unit and push a button or b) slowly load it's config page and do it -- it's not worth the hassle.

Do like me and buy something else... something with all good reviews.

This unit works on 802.11a only, the 802.11b barely functions, if at all. Unit is constantly locking up, but could not get Netgear to issue an RMA. Tech support was not helpful, definately overseas with a language barrier. I would not recommend this unit or Netgear as a company.

If you already have an older 'wired' router, this is definitely the way to go. Just plug it in to an available plug on your existing router. Forget about the noisy 2.4ghz 11b and/or 11g, and go with this second generation 11a/b unit with the atheros chip. Not only does it provide turbo 108 MB 5 ghz 11a, it also provides 11b, so if you have any friends that need to connect they can with the popular 11b standard.

, compared to my SMC 'wired' router and my USR Turbo G wireless routers this is a quality solid corporate grade unit. The manuals are excellent, I had no problems installing it, within minutes it was running, plus 3 year warranty.

I also ordered an SMC2335W cardbus adapter with the WAP, which is an 11a/b adpater that supports 108 MBps turbo 11a. I was hesitant since this card was not on the recommended list that tiger provided for use with the WAB102. After doing some research I found out that this adapter used the same chipset as the WAB102 so I figured it would work well, and it did ...for only $20! ..plus great SMC limited lifetime warranty.

**PLEASE NOTE: THIS SMC CARD STARTED CAUSING MY PC TO CRASH AFTER ABOUT A WEEK, THE SIGNAL STRENGTH ALSO DROPPED, AND IT CAN NO LONGER MAINTAIN A DECENT CONNECTION. SMC SUPPORT WERE NOT HELPFUL AND WOULD NOT GIVE ME AN RMA UNTIL I TRIED IT ON ANOTHER LAPTOP. WHICH I THINK IS AN UNREALISTIC THING TO EXPECT, 'HEY, MIND IF I TRY MY FAULTY CARDBUS CARD ON YOUR $3000 LAPTOP' ???? THE CARD DOESN'T START TO FAULTER UNITL IT GET'S WARMED UP, SO I WOULD HAVE TO TEST IT FOR AS MUCH AS A FEW HOURS.** NO MORE SMC FOR ME! I RETURNED IT TO THE VENDOR AND ACCEPTED THE RESTOCKING CHARGE, IT WASN'T WORTH THE HEADACHE TO DEAL WITH SMC SUPPORT.

These two items work perfectly together, within a few minutes I had the network setup in 108 Mbps turbo mode. With the WAP on the middle floor of my 3 floor home, I get 100% signal strength no matter what floor or end of the house I'm on, cheers to 5 Ghz. For a test I transfered a 1.7 Gigabyte file, while the file was transferring I slowly walked through the house, making sure I went to the most obstructed places, no dropped connections and the transfer rate never dropped below 25 Mbps, the average transfer rate was 31.7 Mbps, it took just under 9 minutes to complete the transfer, WOW ...only a couple hundred bps slower than my wired 100 meg network.

I'm very pleased.

The .a half of this thing works just fine. I have an Netgear HE102 (.a only AP) and it seems comparable in performance.
However the .b side is completely worthless. WEP or not, Netgear, Toshiba and other client adapters, all the same. No range, instable connection. Tried latest firmware, nada. Tried a pair of the WAB102's with same results. Steer clear of this thing. Get the HE102, or something better if you need .a, and get a $... special out of the sunday paper for your .b/.g needs.

For all those interested in Wi-Fi or 802.11b, but have concerns about its performance and stability, this is your ideal solution. The SECOND generation 802.11A/B chip from Atheros is a world of difference from the first generation chips. The new versions is more stable, achieves real connections at the advertised 108 MB when paired with the WAB501 card. The range is between 75 and 100 feet indoors on A band but B band is a little worse. This may change with new software updates from NetGear. Buy it before June 30, 2003 and get a [monetary] rebate on both products.
