The DVD+R DL refers to a DVD disc having single-sided double recordable layers. The present conventional recordable DVD disk has a capacity of 4.7GB per side, but the DVD+R DL developed by RITEK can store a large volume of data up to 8.5GB on the same side of the same disk. Therefore, users do not need to change sides for continuously burning any video data or music programs and such new technology brings tremendous convenience to users.The RITEK DVD+R DL can store 4 hours of high-resolution DVD data or 16 hours of VHS video data or 120 hours of MP3 music. The RITEK DVD+R DL makes use of the different focuses of a laser beam to make double layers on the same side of a DVD, the write power on the first layer and the second layer of the DVD+R Double Layer is the same (Writer Power <30mW) and their reflectivity is also the same (Reflectivity is 18%~30%). When data is duplicated, data can be continuously recorded from the first layer to the second layer without interruption. When data is read, the data can also be read continuously all the way to the second layer.

At 16% success rate, I am very disappointed with this product. Only 4 of the 25 DVDs were successful. The 21 DVDs that did not work failed at about the 50% completion point.

I use a Sony U810 internal burner and these work fine... burns as it should at 8X using Nero Ultra 7... no coasters- these work!

Most of the 8.5GB 8X double layer discs failed during burning process. I had to purchase a pack at Sams to complete the task at hand. I do not know if RIDATA/RITEK discs are compatible. Thank you for asking. This is the first product purchased at AMAZON that was unsatisfactory. I got them to back up a bunch of data on my HD. so far no problems. I did find some others cheaper than these or more quantity, so don't think it was the best of deals. Not complaining though.

Haven't used them so much yet, let's see how long they last.

I work in the tv industry and do A LOT of dvd burning. I have to say that these DVD's work wonderfully. I have a NU 8x Burner in my machine and I have yet to have a single one of these DVD's be used as a coaster. Absolutely wonderful product. I will definitely be using these again in the future! Strongly recommended!
A brand to stay as far away from as possible are the Velocity DVD's. I bought a 100 pack and half of them went straight in the trash. Fortunately Amazon gave me a full refund when I complained, and paid for the shipping and handling to have the remaining DVD's sent back to them. The Velocity discs may be a steal financially, but in the long run you're wasting your time and money and getting nothing back. Terrible product - don't buy!

didn't work for me..........2005-03-02

On my first attempt to use these discs with my NEC3500A drive and with the Nero software burn speed set for maximum, it started to write at 4X, then flashed an error message. Tried another disc, same thing, another coaster. I updated the firmware for the burner and was able to successfully complete a burn, but only at 4X! I've had good luck with Ridata in the past, and these were the first coasters Iv'e made with this NEC drive after more than 70 burns. Ironically, I bought a 100 spindle of Ridata DVD+R 4X not too long ago which wrote at 8X on this same drive. Go figure.

Don't buy them for NEC 3500A.......2005-02-19

They will burns at 4x in NEC ND3500A, ihave installed the last updated of the firmware and stills 4x.

I've gone through 125 of these DVD-Rs by Ridata, and so far the burn success rate has been 100%. Not only did the burned discs play in my Apple computer, it also worked on two other DVD players (a Sony 5 disc DVD player and a Toshiba SD1200). I burned my discs using Apple's iDVD software which came bundled with the computer; While burning, I even used the computer to surf the web, and noticed the DVDs were burned perfectly without any problems <although that's probably a testament to the awesome G5 rather than the Ridatas =)>. I'd highly recommend them! (I just placed an order for another 50!)

ridata is just plain poor quality media.......2004-10-10

I ordered ridata 4x dvd-rw and ridata 4x dvd-r, and im dead serious when I say both batches of discs were corrupt. However crazy that is, the quality of ridata labeled media is the same as the garbage you bring outside. I have a pioneer a05 and the discs are not even recognized by any software in the drive. When I burned the 4x dvd-r discs, I had like 4 out of 5 coasters. Ritek used to make quality and affordable media, but this ridata labeled media is just plain junk, avoid it. Look at every else reviews, its no secret that you shouldnt buy this stuff.

I've used Memorex, Fuji, Maxell,TDK and this Ridata brands hangs with the best out there, I've used over 25 dvd-r disks and so far no duds or coasters, great media at a unbeatable price at Amazon!

Was good, but not anymore.......2005-03-01

I used to buy 25-packs of these all the time with only a problem with a few of them. Just after Christmas I bought a 50-pack of them. After the first dozen, the rest wouldn't work at all in my Akai stand-alone burner, or the plextor burner on my computer. Other brands are working fine in them so it's NOT the machines or firmware. I bought a 25-pack last month because I didn't have problems with them before. About 2 out of every 3 of the 25-pack have problems with dropouts, skips, freezes, locking up the players, or didn't record at all. They definitely downgraded their quality, or are shipping out more of that "bad batch".

I just bought a new computer with a dvd burner built in so i wanted to try it out. I was advised to buy these first and they worked great. I've bought 2-50 packs and have only messed up about 1 disc from each pack. So that seems pretty good to me. Maybe the other people who gave them bad reviews just had crappy dvd burners. The quality is great and the errors are minimal, and you cant beat the price anywhere.

Not work for Philips SDVD6004.......2004-11-16

My DVD drive is Philips SDVD6004(firmware 1.06). The drive is installed in Dell Dimension 4600C and some inspiron notebooks. I failed in buring first 6 discs. There's no singal example of success bruing. So I give up. But other bands (HP, Khypermedia, Verbatim) work perfect for my case. Maybe only crap discs from CMC match the crap Philips burnner.

Cheap media? BenQ not a good drive? LOL.......2004-10-19

Some of you people crack me up. I have a BenQ 8X drive that I have burned over 100 disks on so far with no problems. I use Ritek (RIDATA), Memorex (Mostly CMC a few Ricoh) and Maxell (Ricoh is all I have seen from Maxell) disks.

Before the BenQ, I had a Cyberdrive 8X that I recorded well over 400 disks on using the same brands as stated above. Both of these drives are branded and sold by KHypermedia.

You don't have to spend a lot of money for a decent drive folks. Most of what people are paying for is the name. You would be surprised to know who makes many of the "top" name drives.

The same holds true for DVD media. The majority of media is made by only a few companies. The reason that you can't use a certain disk is not because the media is bad, but because your firmware is not up to date. Some companies update their firmware faster than others so check the website and see if there is an update for your drive. Don't blame the media when it is your burner that is at fault.

I use DVD Shrink to rip and Nero 6.3.1.25 to burn. This version of Nero supposedly sets the code on your movies to ROM. So far, it has set every one I have burned with this version to ROM.

I have owned four drives so far and have not had any problems out of any of them. The first drive I had was an NEC. I sold this one after a few hundred burns and bought a Cyberdrive. I sold this one also after a few hundred burns. I now own a KHypermedia (BenQ) 8X in one computer and a MicroAdvantage (TopG - I think) 8X in another computer. They both work great because I keep them updated. when something new comes along, I sell the old drive cheap and get a new one.

So, Instead of badmouthing the media because it will not work in your drive, find a way to make it work if possible. Keep your firmware updated and ask the maker of your drive for a list of acceptable media that your drive can use. This will save you some trouble as you will know what will and what will not work with your particular drive. If you still decide to purchase media, even though it is not recommended by the manufacturer of your drive for the firmware version you have, you wil be taking a chance that it will plain out give you trouble. JVC Camcorder Model GR-SXM250U ~Lens Cap Error~.......2006-01-21

I bought this camera almost 2 years ago, and it has been great. This camera has a lot of cool features. However, I was very disappointed when I went to use it over the holidays, and it said "lens cap" on the screen. I thought I was crazy because the lens cap was removed and I still got message on the lcd screen. Long story short, I can only watch tapes and no longer record. I have notified JVC and I am still waiting for a response on how to correct the problem. I really like the camera and I hope it can be repaired. If any body has experienced this problem~ please let me know what you did to correct it and if it was very expensive.

This is the first video camera I've purchased, and I'm completely satisfied with it after several months of use. I've found it to be affordable (important initial consideration), lightweight(important if you're brave enough to let the kids record), simple to use(important if you let grandma borrow it to record the other grandkids), and the recordings to be top-notched. These basic features and an excellent brand-name should make any new purchaser feel confident with this camera as his/her initial choice. One caution, the camera's package includes everything you need but a blank VHS-C tape (something experience camera users are aware of, but novices are not, hence the 4 stars, not the 5).

We love this new camera because it is the same features we had in our old camera.. We wanted a new one that had the flip out screen and for the price it cant be beat... BUT we cant believe they took away the personal title generator where you could type your own title in instead of using the 7 or 8 presets they have... It was a must ~ now we will have to learn to do without.. Still a great buy for those not willing or ready to go to digital and still wanting the top features...
