Product Description
Samsung's Neo Slim-Width Design 27" HDTV Monitor simply has the best features, space savings, and picture performance in its class. All analog signals are presented in the better flicker-free progressive scan. The newer progressive scan 480p DVDs are compatible. Also, as an HDTV 1080i Monitor, a full range of connections is available for hooking up an optional HDTV receiver/decoder (DVI-HDTV and wideband component inputs), to achieve the best possible picture. An 8-bit 20 MHz 3D Y/C comb filter, the Samsung exclusive Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) picture improvement circuitry with split screen demo and a high focus finer pitch DynaFlat HD flat picture tube, are among a few of the reasons why the images are so outstanding. The Neo Slim-Width Design incorporates a built-in subwoofer and satellite system, allowing Samsung to offer 45 watts of clear quality audio, while saving cabinet width. The Samsung fits where others cannot. Features like 2 NTSC tuner split/picture-in-picture, adjustable color temperature modes, an easy navigation translucent onscreen display, and a full function universal remote make watching TV fun and uncomplicated.
Amazon.com Product Description
With stylish looks honed to match its pristine images, Samsung's 27-inch TXN2798HF DynaFlat high-definition-ready TV offers full 1080i or 480p input capability (HDTV/EDTV) for use with a DTV set-top box or a progressive-scan DVD player. The set's standard, 4:3-aspect ratio DynaFlat HD screen uses an anti-distortion/anti-glare picture tube to maintain high contrast and image integrity. (Flat screens also just look cool.) The onboard Pro Chip Plus NTSC-to-480-progressive-scan system converts all incoming analog sources--like VCR, cable, or non-progressive DVD--to a 480p display, eliminating conventional TV scan lines for a "flicker free" picture.
|
The Benefits of HDTV |
| |
|
|
|
Standard TVs (SDTVs) display a maximum of 480 lines using the interlaced scan method, which creates a picture with alternating lines of information. |
| |
|
|
|
Enhanced-definition TVs (EDTVs) display a maximum of 480 lines using the progressive-scan method, which creates an image using consecutive lines of information for a crisp, flicker-free picture. |
| |
|
|
|
High-definition TVs (HDTVs) display a maximum of either 1,080 interlaced lines or 720 progressively scanned lines for the sharpest possible image. | | |
An especially attractive feature of this feature-loaded set is its "neo slim-width" design, which conserves space while delivering high-quality video and audio. A separate enclosure houses a 25-watt powered subwoofer in the back of the set, eliminating the need for bulky side speakers. The mid- and high-frequency speakers (10 watts each) reside in the front panel, optimally positioned beneath the screen.
Total DSP (Digital Signal Processing) converts standard analog broadcast TV signals to digital and compensates for varying signal strengths, while the set's 8-bit, 20 MHz 3D Y/C comb filter removes blurred edges between colors and reduces dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). Velocity-scan modulation improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas.
The TXN2798HF also offers 3:2 pulldown. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24-frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture. Samsung's DNIe Video Enhancer (or Digital Natural Image engine) enhances all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, and picture detail, incorporating digital noise reduction to improve low-quality video sources.
A shadow mask is a thin sheet of perforated metal behind the screen that restricts electron flow, each hole in the sheet corresponding to a single pixel. An Invar mask uses an alloy that's especially resistant to the high temperatures generated by the electron beam, allowing in a brighter, clearer picture. All onscreen information and menus appear in translucent overlays, letting you view video programs in the background while you consult the setup menus.
The set's two-tuner picture-in-picture with stock-ticker modes lets you monitor up to 13 different channels simultaneously. Stock-ticker mode places the lower one fifth of the screen of one channel into another channel so you can viewing streaming text beneath the program of your choice.
Other features include BBE High-Definition Sound (improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of compressed musical passages), V-Chip parental controls, and plug-and-play setup, which uses automation and a simple menu to select the source (broadcast or cable), set the clock, and map the active channels.
Inputs consist of a DVI-HDTV input for direct digital connection with a DTV receiver, dual high-definition DVD/DTV component-video inputs, an RF input (for an older VCR or cable box), three rear and one set of side-panel audio/video inputs (including one S-video input) to accommodate a camcorder, game console, or other sources. The set comes with a universal remote control.
More about DNIe
Digital Natural Image engine(DNIe) that could take a signal from any kind of source-not just conventional or high-definition digital broadcasting, but even DVD, Camcorder, PC and games-and turn it into a stunning picture on any kind of screen. The input signal passes through a series of four advanced processes that form the core of the DNIe technology.
The first of these processes, the Motion Optimizer, is responsible for noise reduction. the visual data are automatically broken down into signal and noise and analyzed through a combined spatial/temporal process. DNIe`s noise reduction technology permits a startling level of sharpness even in minute details and rapidly changing scenes. Unlike conventional noise reduction methods, the Motion Optimizer combines a motion adaptive temporal filter, which detects and reduces noise in the temporal space between successive frames, with spatial noise reduction applied to the two-dimensional image space.
After passing through the Motion Optimizer, the visual signal is sent to the Contrast Enhancer. This process automatically adjusts contrast and brightness to natural levels, producing an extraordinarily rich and vivid picture. In scenes of motion or rapid change,a separate contrast value should ideally be set for each visual signal, but this presents great technological difficulties. DNIe's Contrast Enhancer process has overcome these difficulties by applying over 1 million criteria for contrast and automatically determining the optimum contrast level for any kind of visual data. The Contrast Enhancer can also analyze up to 70,000 local images within a frame to preserve contrast in the smallest details without affecting overall color or brightness.
The next step in the signal's journey from input to high-quality output is the Detail Enhancer. DNIe's Detail Enhancer uses its own specially developed technology to dramatically improve sharpness just where it matters. The slightly unnatural appearance that results from conventional uniform detail enhancement is re-detected and re-adjusted to produce a strikingly sharp and convincing image. Conventional detail enhancement is based on the artificial amplification of the input signal, but this inevitably produces small areas of noise boost-up and flicker.
The final process undergone by the input signal is the Color Optimizer. For each scene, the Color Optimizer analyzes the hues of the input signal to determine and preserve the overall level of brightness. The colors are adjusted and improved, without unnatural intensification, to give vivid tones corresponding to the living shades of nature. By calculating the color saturation of red, green, and blue in each scene, the colors are optimized to the shades that the human eye accepts as natural.

Television arrived defective and it took 4 months for fix.......2004-12-19
I purchased this Samsung TV in late June. The day it arrived the Television had electrical issues. I called Amazon and they wouldn't do a single thing for me. Samsung sent out a tech. to look at the TV but that took over three weeks. So I have a brand new TV that doesn't work and no other TV in the house for three weeks. Upon inspection the Tech. stated the issue was with the picture tube and he would need to order another tube for replacement. Remember this TV is one day old. The Tech told me the picture tube could take up to a month to arrive. I was seeing red by this time. I told him to order the new tube and I would continue to contact Amazon for a resoulution. Amazon stated they could do nothing about it go back to Samsung or if I chose I can sell the item as used on Amazon. You have got to be kidding me. Well three weeks later I check on the status of the new tube. Low and behold the tube has not even been orderd the Tech told me the tube cost more than the TV and Samsung denied replacement of the Tube. So know what. I called Samsung directly and had to pose a lawsuit It took 60 days for the for Samsung to offer a refund. So I was without a TV for almost 4 months because I didn't want to buy a new TV if the check never arrived. Samsung is awful and Amazon was no help at all.
don't buy from Samsung - dysfunctional warranty service.......2004-12-17
I bought a Samsung HDTV (model TXN2798HF) from CompUSA in June 2004. It began having a problem in October, so I called Samsung for first-year warranty support. It took a half dozen calls to get authorization for a local service center to work on it. This service center determined the monitor was defective, after which point they got authorization from Samsung to replace the TV. I called Samsung dozens of times during the next month and a half, trying to find out the status of the replacement, each time being told a different story. Once I was told my local service center needed to send the old TV back before I could get the new TV sent, but when I then called the service center they told me that's not how they operate. Next Samsung told me a company in New Jersey would be sending the replacement, but when I called that company they told me that's not how they operate. Next Samsung told me they could not find the paperwork authorizing the warranty exchange. On and on it went. I have no confidence Samsung's incompetent customer service organization will ever solve this, so I wrote to my Visa company, asking them to get me my money back so I can buy a TV from a company that honors their warranty commitments.
I'll never buy anything from Samsung again.
---
Update from a couple months later: Samsung did eventually honor their warranty, and replaced my TV. I probably still will avoid buying their products in the future because I don't like to have to hassle with companies to get problems solved... and I'd chalk this one up to a very disorganized problem tracking system inside Samsung.
Good entry level HDTV ready television........2004-04-30
I purchased this television primarily to enjoy my DVDs and Xbox in progressive scan mode. It has good features at an affordable price point. I'm not yet ready to invest in a high cost plasma or LCD unit as I believe those technologies will come down significantly in price within the next few years. A CRT based system was the reasonable choice for me.
It is a 4x3 CRT television, but the 16x9 widescreen squeeze works quite well and about equivalent to a 24" widescreen.
The picture is extremely clear at 480p and has the clarity of a computer monitor at 1080i. It does not have the ability to produce 720p, which is the only negative I have for this model. However, all OTA signals I've received and other digital sources, 1080i has always been supported.
I went ahead and bought a Samsung STB (T351) to enjoy "off the air" DTV signals as well. It does require a Set Top Box or some other digital source since it does not have a built in tuner. You can't expect a set in this price range to include this, nor is it really necessary if you are just wanted progressive scan ability.
If you're looking to purchase a CRT based television these days, there is no reason not to purchase an HDTV ready-set. This will extend it's usefulness as we approach the 2006 HDTV roll-out here in the U.S.
I've been very happy with this television and have a new found respect for Samsung. Only wish I had purchased it sooner. The DVDs are so vibrant and much improved in quality. The Xbox is wonderful in 480p.
Also, just to clarify an issue from another reviewer, this does indeed have a DVI-D input on it. It's in the PDF manual and its definitely on the set itself. Be sure to read the PDF link to learn more.
no DVI listed wrong.......2004-01-21
neither this model nor any 27" samsung has a DVI port! A transcoder from DVI to componet jack is about $150.00.
Great Value!!!.......2003-11-12
I USED TO ONLY LOOK AT SONY AS BEING THE BEST QUALITY, but I started to see that Samsung also was coming around with great products, usually at a CHEAPER PRICE,but nevertheless I found with this TV, my cell phone, and my HD-DVD Player that Samsung IS RELIABLE AND OFFERS GREAT VALUE. Don't be taken in by those people who are so stubbornly Sony customers, I think that as long as something works great and also looks great (Samsung designs are great) that the name on the product shouldn't matter much. You won't be dissappointed with this TV if you take into consideration what type of programs you will be watching(DNie makes regular cable still look great)....just be aware that this is not widescreen even though it is HD ready(....720p and 1080i, HD formats are both widescreen), which would be the only drawback I can find. Look for more great Samsung products in the future, and remember that SONY'S NOT THE ONLY GOOD BRAND OUT THERE :)

Easy to install, works fine........2003-03-19
This product works great. The only complaint I have about it is there is no mention anywhere in the documentation on the correct way to insert the PC Card. The PC Card will go in both ways, and I had to experiment to see which way was the right way. Other than that, the card works great.
Netgear MA301 is XP Compatible.......2002-10-22
Ignore the Microsoft Warning upon installation that it is not compatible with XP. It is compatible with XP. I use it with XP and have no problems - once you get past the Microsoft XP installation warning. This apparently is a certification method recently installed by Microsoft in order to get additional control and income over the manufacturers. The Netgear website explains all this.
This card works well.......2002-06-03
I spent a lot of time reading the reviews about wireless access points, wireless routers and wireless network cards. I finally decided on the Linksys router and the Netgear MA 301/401 interface card. So, here's the deal. I have a PII-400 running Win98 that is connected to the router using Cat 5 cable, which is then connected to a cable modem. For those of you who don't know, Cat 5 cable is simply the standard ethernet cable. I then installed the MA 301/401 combo on another computer, a Packard Bell PII-233 running Win95. Unfortunately Win95 had an IRQ conflict with the PCI card (MA 301) that could not be resolved. I installed Win98 and the IRQ conflict disappeared.
After getting the Packard Bell system set up, the MA 301/401 would not link up with the Linksys router. I called Netgear tech support and discovered that the SSID on the card must be identical to the SSID on the router. I discovered that the Linksys SSID was "linksys" and the SSID on the card was "Linksys." When I changed the "L" to an "l", the card connected to the router immediately and I was in business.
The Packard Bell machine is on the 2nd floor of my townhouse and the Linksys router is in the basement. The signal, therefore, is passing thru 2 floors and 2 walls. The link quality and signal strength are consistently in the "good" category and sometimes they are "excellent." These are qualitative measures reported by the Netgear card's software.
As for performance, I downloaded a 19MB file off Microsoft's web site and it took less than 5 minutes via the wireless connection.
I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive about buying the Linksys router. The reviews are mixed and some people have totally trashed it. I decided to give it a try, figuring that I would return it if it didn't work well. The same thing for the MA301/401 card; some loved it and some hated it. I was also concerned that having a router and card from different manufacturers would cause problems. It turns out that I didn't need to be concerned at all because both pieces are working perfectly.
Contrary to what others have said, my connection has not been lost and it takes only a few seconds to establish the wireless connection on startup. I have found that the documentation provided with both items was adequate. However, I wish each of them would have mentioned the importance of having the same SSID on the router and the card. I have not talked with Linksys tech support, but the two calls to Netgear went well.
Things to watch out for: 1)The Netgear MA 301, which is the PCI card that plugs into the desktop computer must be used with the Netgear MA 401 wireless PC card. This PC card will also fit in a laptop. 2) As I mentioned, the SSID must be the same on both pieces of hardware. 3)I have not activated the WEP encryption so I have no idea how it will affect performance.
The bottom line: I highly recommend the Linksys BEFW11S4 V.2 router and the Netgear MA 301/401 interface card.
Incompatible with XP.......2002-05-23
Be warned! You may think that wireless LAN is something pretty up to date and that you will be able to use a pretty standard PCI adapter with XP. You can't. The XP compatbility wizard managed to find this card and announce its incompatibility. And this is despite there being an XP drivers folder on the CD.
The version I've got doesn't even run under 2000.
AVOID
easy to setup.......2002-04-22
I loved the fact that this card installed without the PCMCIA card even present and worked perfectly when I put the PCMCIA card in. No messing around with installing drivers for this card, then for that card, etc.
So overall a slick install and a good piece of work.

AM/FM/Shortwave Portable Radio / Digital Tuner with up to 28 Programmable Stations / Clock and Timer Modes 28 pre-programmed shortwave stations Auto tuning and station search 3 timers Clock Includes AC adapter, case, antenna Click Here to Download the PDF Manual
Amazon.com Review
Easy to use, quick to get started, but complex enough for the shortwave radio aficionado, the compact Sangean ATS-909 is a terrific travel radio adaptable for use anywhere in the world, receiving FM/MW, long-wave, and shortwave signals.
You can set radio frequencies using five methods, including automatically or manually through a keypad or rotary dialing. The digital clock can be fixed to local and world times and provides both an alarm and a sleep timer. You can set the radio so you can fall asleep to music and later be awakened with news, music, or the buzzing alarm. You can also set three different wake-up times, each to a different frequency.
This substantial and attractively designed unit also includes a long, retractable antenna for FM/SW and an internal antenna for good reception on medium- and long-wave bands. Tuning can be accomplished in a variety of ways; auto-tune, which scans all radio frequencies and presets your stations to the strongest signals; simple direct tuning to the desired frequency; or manual tuning with the rotary knob. The rotary tuning is quick, direct, and to us, the most effective method for finding and refining reception. An impressive internal memory holds up to 306 radio frequencies, saving you time searching.
The LCD displays the current station, frequency, local time, memory location, and the status of the alarms and all other functions. The illuminated display window can also be switched on for viewing in the dark. A small stand on the back opens to permit the radio to sit on a tabletop at the perfect angle for operation, and Sangean has included a handy list of the best times for good reception on various frequencies around the world. The carrying pouch with Velcro closures neatly fits the ATS-909 and the slim shortwave handbook, though unfortunately not the included earphones, portable shortwave reel antenna, or AC adapter. Powered by four AA batteries or the multivoltage AC adapter, the unit comes with a one-year parts-and-labor warranty. --David Greenberger
Pros:
- Multiple tuning methods
- Internal memory of 306 presets
- Includes AC adapter and external SW antenna
Cons:
- All the gear doesn't fit in the case
- Weighs nearly 2 pounds
- An intimidating number of functions for the novice
Amazon.com Product Description

Weak Reception and Poor Sound.......2007-08-19
I've had a 909 for 10 years. It's gotten several thousand hours of use, has fallen on the floor a few times, and is still going strong.
It's very true that this radio is hard of hearing using its whip antenna. It has inferior sensitivity. I just bought a $20 analog SW radio which is vastly more sensitive. You must add your own external antenna. The reel antenna will do nicely. After that, the 909 truly performs. It can hear everything then.
The speaker is also poor. It has inferior sound. Again, the $20 analog I bought has vastly superior sound to the 909. The sound on the 909 is disappointing. I only ever listen to it using headphones.
The 909 has a tuning knob, which is much better than up/down buttons for tuning. You can tune in 1 KHz increments. That's fine for SW.
The narrow/wide filters are okay. Not great. Using the narrow filter and tuning away from an interfering station can help with the interference.
The tuning for SSB is unacceptable. SSB should not sound like Donald Duck in a radio with this price. If you rip off the display glass, you can adjust the BFO screw and almost get SSB to zero-beat. I prefer the BFO knob on the YB 400PE to what the 909 has. Poor SSB performer.
The sound mutes when you tune. That is bad. I ripped my radio apart and modded the radio so it would not mute.
The radio frequently beeps when you press buttons. This is annoying. I ripped my radio apart and removed the beep speaker.
The memory function is very nice. Nearly 30 pages of 9 memories each. Most of them are preprogrammed and out of date. You have to find a cheat online to bypass the memory lock so you can store your own countries and frequencies.
Decent FM and MW reception. MW DXers will not be disappointed.
No DRM. This is an old radio. If you want DRM, you need to do another mod, buy a mixer/filter chip, pipe the signal into your computer, and decode it with the appropriate software.
No synchronous detection. At this price, the radio really should have had sync. It makes a huge difference in terms of listenability. Sync completely removes adjacent interference and fading distortion. If you listen to SW you want it. The 909 doesn't have it.
I like the 909. But I must suggest you get the Sony ICF-SW7600GR instead. It is much cheaper. It has much better sensitivity. It has much better sound. It has synchronous detection. Or if your focus is SSB, get the Grundig Yacht Boy 400PE. It is cheaper, has better sound, and zero-beats SSB.
Sorry 909-lovers, but your radio is greatly outclassed by the competition.
PROFESSIONAL RECEIVER & A MUST HAVE.......2007-05-17
I am supplying this unit to a maintenance team of fm radio in Malaysia. They are very satisfied with the quality and capabilities.
Very Good SW for the Money.......2007-05-13
I am well pleased with the ATS 909 and will not hesitate to recommend someone else to buy it. It is a very good portable radio and really what makes this radio is the (guess) 20ft uncoiling antenna. It has the normal telescoping antenna but it also has the other antenna (and it has its own jack as well). I have been listening to SW for 20 years or so and it ranks at or near the top for portables.
Maybe not for the Novice!.......2007-04-08
The 909 is the ultimate SW table top/semi-portable radio, period! Widely sold by RadioShack as the DX-398, this radio has it all, IF YOU SET IT UP PROPERLY.
Antenna: suggest a "slinky" or 50 foot+ copper wire antenna and don't rely on the whip that comes with the radio. FM: several issues, including too much signal causing distortion, means it not to be the FM performer one might normally like. However, THIS IS A SW RADIO! Single speaker: for stereo performance it has a stereo audio plug in for some small speakers if you like. Preset displays for country of origin might say Russia while you are listening to Sweden. Medium Wave AM performance can be enhanced by obtaining a coil antenna and placing next to the radio. Its own internal iron core antenna is limited. With a tunable coil, you will be shocked at how good this radio is at picking up hard to hear AM stations around the country. Tricky antenna plug in: use a stereo audio plug with the tip going to your SW antenna, the mid section to your AM antenna and of course the ground. Have fun!
The Perfect Shortwave Radio.......2007-02-27
I recommend this shortwave radio to anyone who wants to listen to their favorite frequencies from around the world. It is the perfect radio to listen to next to the fire with a cup of coffee and listen to China Radio International, Austrailia, Japan, or anything else. It is easy to use and the sound quality couldn't be better. I enjoy it everyday, and it is easy to take along on vacations and camping.

Customer Reviews:
A good basic camera.......2007-04-13
I needed an inexpensive camera for taking pictures of vacations, family pets etc. I did not need or want a fancy one.
The camera is easy to use (i havent even read the instructions). The software that comes with it is easy to navigate too. The pictures are clear and a good size. i found that the cameras with 5MP or more are just too large since i dont need 16x20 of my photos - i just email and print out 4x6. Although, i do need to reduce the size for email and webpages. I've printed larger (8x10) and the quality is still fine.
The LCD screen is slightly smaller than what you typically see these days but honestly its fine. You get a good idea of clarity and focus with the screen.
I've only had mine 4 months but so far no problems. I've owned others where the LCD screen has broken in a short amount of time so i know i am rough on the cameras.
The camera is small enough to fit in a purse and carry everyday. Its not real thin like the expensive type but still smaller than most.
Also, this camera takes batteries. I use my camera ALOT and i havent had to change batteries yet. I also own a cannon (for work projects) and it uses up batteries much faster (same amount of use).
A fine entry level digital camera.......2005-11-24
I Purchased a Samsung A400 about a year ago, with the goal of finding a moderately priced, easy to use family digital camera that would double as a casual video camera. The A400 has served well in that role.
The camera has no optical viewfinder, you use the 2" LCD screen to preview the shot. This works well, but eats alkaline AA batteries in short order. Using rechargeable or lithium AAs or CRV3s is almost a must. The ability to use plain old AA batteries in a pinch is nice, however.
Image quality is very good on the auto settings, and there are lots of manual settings to play with. The video has good picture quality, with the audio being slightly out of sync from the onscreen action. The bundled USB cord has an RCA jack, so you can hook the camera up to most TVs. Our DVD player accepts SD cards, so we rarely use this feature, but it is nice for showing recently captured images to a group.
I've never bothered with the bundled software, as the camera shows up as a mass storage device in XP. The 32MB internal memory is small enough that an SD/MMC card is a must, I've been using a 512MB SD card with good results, and have never "needed" a larger card, even when shooting 640x480 video at 24 FPS. Samsung only guarantees support for cards up to 512MB, when I get a 1GB card for my MP3 player I'll see if the A400 can handle it. (Edit-The A400 recognized a 1GB PNY SD card, no problem - so now a half hour video is possible)
Only problem the camera has given me is really my fault: sometimes it is easy to forget what mode the camera is set for, still or video. There is only a small icon on the screen to remind you, and it's easy to miss. Internal audio output would be nice, and the case would be more useful with pockets for SD cards, the cable and spare batteries. Plan on getting another case.
The 2.8X optical and 4X digital zoom give a good range of quality/zoom options when taking still pictures. The zoom is locked to whatever you started with when taking video.
I'm not a digital photography buff so I can't comment on tech specs, but the image quality is plenty good enough for satisfying prints up to 8" x 11". I haven't tried to print anything larger. The video is good enough to capture highlights of family gatherings, but falls short of video camera quality, but it's with you when you need it.
My wife finds it easy to use, and the options menu is pretty simple to navigate. There are a lot of settings and options that I don't use: attaching voice tags to images, the ability to print directly from the camera, the self portrait timers, fireworks/landscape/portrait/night/text exposure settings, manual white balance, nine photo frames, sharpness settings, black&white and sepia effects, and others I'm forgetting. You can fiddle if you want, but the automatic settings seem to do the job for our informal family photos just fine.
Overall, I'm happy with the Samsung A400, it's delivered good, reliable service for a moderate investment. Enthusiasts will want more, but the average digital duffer should be pleased by the combination of price, features and ease of use. The only reasons I'm not giving it five stars are the lack of internal audio playback, certainly not a fatal flaw.
