Product Description
Samsung's portable digital audio players deliver uninterrupted, digital quality sound. The Yepp plays MP3 digital music files downloaded from your favorite music websites or transferred from your CD collection through your PC. With its new compact and stylish design, the Yepp is suited for an unconventional young generation that seeks to be distinct.Yepp YP-NEU features a fancy translucent hip-hop design. It offers built-in flash memory and expandable playback time with removable Smart Media card. The backlight LCD on remote controller lets you see the titles of the songs stored on your MP3 player. Because the Yepp has no moving parts, you won't hear any gaps in the music due to the bumps and jitters you would otherwise experience with a CD player.Amazon.com Review
The Samsung Yepp Hip Hop is one of the coolest-looking digital audio players around, and we found ourselves offering it up like an excited kid at show and tell. The player's small size and its shiny silver color never failed to impress coworkers and friends, while its excellent sound also drew raves. The most outstanding feature of the Yepp Hip Hop is its size--only 3.2 by 2.4 by 0.97 inches and 1.7 ounces. It's the size a deck of cards (and just a bit lighter) and fits neatly into a plastic pouch for wearing around the neck. We weren't sure how comfortable the neck cord would be, but a trip to the laundromat with the Hip Hop went off without a hitch. The player was barely noticeable and so light it didn't get in the way of fluffing and folding. Yet the controls were easily reached, and the great sound made the hours of drudgery fly by. Better yet, it never skipped a beat even when it was inadvertently slammed against a dryer a few times.
Of course, with its small size, you're paying a price in memory. This Hip Hop holds only 32 MB of music (another version holds 64 MB), or about 15 tracks at the lowest compression setting. That's plenty for laundromat trips and commutes, but not enough for longer outings. That's where the Hip Hop's SmartMedia slot comes in, with room for flash memory cards for another 64 MB. Anything more than that and you have to turn to another type of player. Sound quality was very good even with the included cheapo earphones--the dynamic range was crisp and had clean tones at high and low ends.
To download music to the Hip Hop, use the included USB cable to access the player's flash memory, format it, and transfer songs. You will need a USB port on your PC and Windows 98 or 2000 (Windows 95 and NT are not USB-compatible); it is also compatible with Mac OS 7.0 and above. Follow the directions in the manual for adding a USB driver to your system.
The Yepp Hip Hop comes with RealJukebox software for ripping CDs, which took quite a bit of tinkering to get it to work right. (Make sure to check security and encoding settings.) The Hip Hop's manual didn't help much and unless you log on to the Internet, you won't have access to RealJukebox help. But once the software was all set up, it took us only about 30 seconds to encode a track into MP3 format, and then another minute or two to move it to the Hip Hop.
Controls on the Hip Hop are basic. The buttons are the size of BBs, which made them difficult to operate at times. The included remote control with backlit LCD adds a few more features, like reverse, hold, and four equalizer settings, but search functions are primitive.
Ultimately, its software and hardware limitations might not make it the best MP3 player deal on the market. But with its cool design, sound quality, and portability, the Yepp Hip Hop more than holds its own as an entry-level MP3 player. --L.E. Klein

Better yet, it never skipped a beat, even when it was inadvertently slammed against a dryer a few times.
Samsung has packed 64 MB of onboard memory into the Hip Hop, enough for 60 minutes of music without fiddling with cards or paying for more memory. But if you want more playback the player's SmartMedia slot has room for flash memory cards for another 64 MB, enough for another hour of music, an impressive capacity for an MP3 player at this price. Sound quality was very good, even with the included cheapo earphones--the dynamic range was crisp and had clean tones at both high and low ends.
To download music to the Hip Hop, use the included USB cable to access the player's flash memory, format it, and transfer songs. You will need a USB port on your PC and Windows 98, 2000, or Me (Windows 95 and NT are not USB compatible); it is also compatible with Mac OS 7.0 to 9.2.1. Follow the directions in the manual for adding a USB driver to your system.

But once the software was set up, it took us only about 30 seconds to encode a track into MP3 format, and then another minute or two to move it to the Hip Hop. Figure on 45 minutes to fill up the full 64 MB memory.
Controls on the Hip Hop are basic. The buttons are the size of BBs, which were sometimes difficult to operate. The included remote control with backlit LCD adds a few more features, like reverse, hold, and four equalizer settings, but search functions are primitive.

Yepp NO.......2003-11-07
Heres the thing just download the mp3 software that communicates directly with the Yepp player from Samsung ...which is better anyway...Yepp? Yep..
Other downers...the unit does not time out...so if you leave the battery on it will be very dead!! Yepp? YEPP!! Also if you have it in you pocket and lean against something...dead battery..and dead yepp..
It needs a smartmedia card...otherwise it's total useless...but it only takes 64mb...so unless you are listening to the "best of asia"...this going to be frustrating..not enough songs!! Yepp!!
So if you are looking for something cheap...then this is ok...but it burns batteries like crazy...so keep extra batteries with you!!! YEPP!!
The Perfect Gift.......2003-05-14

JVC GR-SXM330U Super VHS Palm Sized Camcorder with LCD Monitor
Manufacturer: JVC ProductGroup: Photography Binding: Electronics Product Features:
ASIN: B00005KAMK |
Product Description
JVC GR-SXM330 camcorder has three recording modes. It uses Super VHS recording to deliver up to 60% better resolution than standard models for better quality home movies. For quality and economy, the Super VHS ET mode lets you take those high-resolution videos using any VHS-C tape. For compatibility with any VHS video recorder, standard VHS is also available.GR-SXM330's 2.5" LCD view screen allows the camera to be operated from any angle, for maximum comfort. The picture stabilizer gets rid of annoying picture shake. The 400x zoom makes sure you don't miss any of the action. A built-in light improves the picture in nighttime situations. Endurance Shooting allows up to two hours recording time with the provided battery pack. When you are done recording, the tapes play back and can be shared in any VHS video recorder using the provided VHS-C Playpak.Amazon.com Review
With the GR-SXM330U, JVC has crafted a lightweight, feature-packed camcorder that's as well suited for business projects as it is for home movies. Though it records on standard VHS-C tapes (and includes an adapter cassette for playing them on standard VCRs), the GR-SXM330U also supports the use of S-VHS-C tapes, which promise sharper images. Alternately, you can activate the camcorder's S-VHS ET mode to achieve a similar image-quality increase on ordinary VHS-C tapes. Thanks to its sharp, pivoting, 2.5-inch color LCD, the camcorder lets you shoot effectively from many angles (including below, above, and in front of the lens). The 16x optical zoom lens is augmented (at the expense of image quality) by a 400x digital zoom.
You probably won't need the manual to start shooting with the GR-SXM330U, but it will come in handy when you're ready to tap into the camera's vast array of advanced features. While the clearly labeled buttons and clever menu-wheel control make for easy navigation of settings and menus, it can be difficult to remember what buttons lead to which settings.
For the artistic moviemaker, the GR-SXM330U offers a handful of whiz-bang "digifects." You can give your shots the look of an old movie (black-and-white with a slight strobe effect), add a sepia filter, reverse or stretch the image, and more. You can also choose from a variety of fade/wipe transitions, and superimpose one of eight preset titles (such as "Happy Birthday" and "Our New Baby"). The camcorder even has a high-speed shutter mode for capturing sports and other fast-moving events, and a digital image stabilizer for shaky situations.
The GR-SXM330U performs equally well under indoor and outdoor lighting. In low-light situations, you can switch on the camcorder's built-in light or use Night Alive--a digital enhancement that promises to make dark subjects brighter. It works, but the camera then becomes difficult to focus, and images take on a strobe effect.
The included clip-on battery is good for over an hour of recording between charges, though it can be charged only when attached to the camera. Our only physical problem with the GR-SXM330U was that sometimes the cassette door wouldn't close properly, requiring a little extra shove to snap it shut.
Compact and hardily constructed, the JVC GR-SXM330U combines the convenience of VHS compatibility with a host of highly desirable features. It's a splendid choice for capturing your family history. --Rick Broida
