Bad battery.......2007-04-10

I have one buy from bestbuy at end of 2005, one month later I found when conect to computer the mp3 automaticly recharge and remember it. One year after the battery only can use about two hours, two years after very defecult to use it and almost all time conect to the charge.

CRAPPY!!!!!!!.......2007-02-14

Initially I loved this item. But as time went on the love faded, really fast. After a few months the battery life became less and less. I initially purchsed this to record my lectures, and it did a fantastic job, for a while. Then after a year of having it the internal flash stopped working. This made it completely inoperable because I wasn't able to access the various functions. I called Samsung customer service and they were not helpful at all. This is the last Samsung item I will ever buy. I didn't want to give this thing one star, if I could I would give it negative stars for wasting my time and hard earned money.

Battery life shocker!.......2006-07-11

After only having this mp3 player for a year, I'm ready to throw it in the bin. I could not even sell this piece of junk second hand, as it would be unfair to whoever was suckered into the purchase.

Looks-wise, sound quality and features, this is a top-class mp3 player, but the battery life is the worst I've ever experienced in any item of electronic equipment. Even after carefully nursing the battery to make sure that it was usually charged from completely flat, the player will now only work for about 90 minutes before switching itself off with a low battery warning.
Even worse is that it immediately displays the warning and shuts down if you press any off the buttons while the unit is playing under battery power. The only way to make any use of the thing whatsoever, is to leave it permanently set to shuffle all tracks, thereby avoiding touching any of the buttons.

I'm incredibly disappointed in what I had always thought to be a solid, reliable brand. I don't think I'll be buying any other Samsung products in a hurry.

A trick for loading music.......2005-10-19

I've read all the reviews about how inconvenient it is to load music to this player using WMP and Napster. You don't have to go this route though.

This player will function as a drag and drop if you do two simple things.
1: Change the windows settings to show hidden files. Then click on the device and open the music folder in the device. You'll see all the songs you have loaded in there. From there just drag and drop all your new songs right in the folder.

2: After this is done use the utility suite that came with the player to 'rebuild your library'. In doing so, the software will have your device recognize all the music you just dragged and dropped into the player. It's a little easier than syncing.

As for the 4 stars rather than 5, well....as far as I can tell the napster program is the only way to create playlists for the player. This coupled with the lack of accessories and all the searchability issues when you begin to compile quite a bit of music on the player are far from ideal. However, I've owned one since about 3 weeks after it was released and I am very satisfied with it. Never had any problems at all.

Hopefully when they release a general firmware update to it they take some of these issues into consideration.

Also, apparently (though I've never checked it out myself) the Samsung Music Studio program works wonders with this player as well. If anyone has access to this software, I'd love to hear your take on it.

Great price on this cable. Just as good as the THX Ultra 800 without paying extra for the THX name. HUGE difference over S-video! Better than cheap cables too. Don't skimp on cables by buying cheap ones. If you can't see the difference, get glasses or better TV! Best cables w/o paying a fortune!

Several reviews mention the improvement when these cables to replace a composite (L/R audio + video) cable, or an S-video (multi-pinned plug). ALmost all of that improvement is due to the fact that these cable connection methods are completely different types in signal format and the TV uses different internal circuitry for each one. Virtually any S-video cable connection will give a better image than a composite type cable, and any component (individual R-G-B video) connection will be better than S-video. Cable brand has absolutely nothing to do with it. There may be some difference between one brand of component cable and another, but its almost always unnoticable.

What's your budget?.......2004-09-01

Do you own a 27 inch TV with a $27 DVD player? Don't bother. Do you own a $5000 amp, a $3000 DVD player, and a set of speakers that you might bury yourself in? Don't bother buying, unless you want to burn money. Monster may look pretty, and the performance of Monster vs. no name is certainly proven in the quantifiable scientific analysis...but your ear can't hear it.
Simply put, buy comparable cables with and without the Monster name and run a test with your ears. You will probably find that you can save yourself significant $ by purchasing equally constructed cabling without the Monster name...

Top Notch Cable.......2004-08-05

This is a great video cable, though it's very spendy. Superior to composite & S Video. Monster classifies it as "ultimate performance". I'd say only DVI & HDMI, which are both digital, are better. I needed a 2M or 6.5' cable because the 1M was just too short for my needs. I looked at this one (90$) and Monster's new THX Ulta 1000 4' component cable(100$). They had equal features. The THX cable is better looking than this one, however when it came down to it I didn't want to spend 10 extra bucks on a cable that's 2.5' shorter! Now this cable isn't THX certified, but it is certified by Imaging Science Foundation. I typically recommend Monster Cable, I feel they are the leader in A/V cables. This is a great fit for a progressive scan DVD player and/or HDTV. Get the most out of what you paid for! Rock On.

I don't know why these things don't exist in the market very much. Ethernet is all over the market, but you would need cabling for that. I connected my Windows XP computer to my father's (also XP) in the other room, and it's working very well, and couldn't be cheaper. You don't even need their software, XP recognizes the device and you can set up a small office or home network with XP - very easily. Arrived fast too. Really fast. Maybe because I'm in CA, and they ship from CA too.

Highly recommended! An easy way to have a network installed in your home or office within minutes. Never had any problems connecting my 2 laptops running Win98 and WinXP. Internet sharing, worked same well. Consider savings over wireless equipment that would give you the same data transfer rate, but for 10-15 times more money. It is not worth it to pay that much just for the convenience of walking aroung the apartment with your laptop (What if you have only desktops?). I believe anybody still prefers working at the desk, and not on a porch, toilet or in a bath. Use wires you already have at home - your phone line. This device is simple and thus brake- and error-safe.

After recently moving into a new house, I soon found there was no feasible way to get a wired ethernet setup going, what with architectural constraints.
I just wanted to share cable internet access among our 3 computers, without going wireless; the low throughput and limited range of an affordable wireless solution (802.11b) doesn't appeal to me.
After a bit of research, I picked up a Linksys HPRO200 router and ordered this litte gem.
It took one week to receive the PA-101, and within 5 minutes, my network was up; and I didn't have to configure an access point, WEP encryption, or any of the hassles of wireless. No need to route any ethernet cable between floors either.
It's too bad this technology is being rendered obsolete; sort of reminds me of the way Beta VCRs were supplanted by VHS. The inferior product was marketed more aggressively...
On the bright side, HPNA 2.0 adapters can be found for as litte as $5 now.
And yes, the PA-101 works just fine with windows ME, and 2000, and 98. I've tested all of them, and recommend this for anyone.

Good way to set up a fast, efficient, simple network at home.......2003-05-28

No problems setting up this system which transfers data between rooms via the phone jacks . I have broadband internet access which works plenty fast on the networked computers in the house.
I'm under the impression that this system is being phased out as it's not being offered any more at the large stores in my area (Best Buy, Frys, etc.) I'm attributing this to the wireless push being made by Netgear and others.

Good product overall.......2003-03-22

It works as advertized, and good for laptop use since phoneline PC card choices are limited and so-so. It would be good for desktop use if you do not want, or know how, to install a PCI card. However, for desktop use I would recommend the PA-301 PCI card. It is a great way to network home computers and share a high speed (broadband) internet connection without running wires through your house. The 10Mbs is very adequate, and comparable to wired ethernet, considering that (broad)bandwidth usually gets you 2-5Mbs. To some extent, the 10X phoneline networking through your existing phone wiring is more dependable than 802.11b wireless. However for laptop use, the whole idea of being mobile is to be free of wires. I bought it initially for laptop use, but decided in the end to go wireless. I use wired 10/100 for my main desktop, phoneline connection (PA-301) to network each of my kid's desktop, and wireless for my wife's laptop as well as mine. However, the PA-101 really works and does not interfere with regular phone use. You CAN actually surf the web (high speed connection) and talk on the phone at the same time....

It does work. By connecting an adapter to each computer in your home and using your computer's network setup wizard, you are able to share your dial-up connection. I am operating on Windows XP, and so far it has worked well. The connection speed is a bit slower but overall it's pretty nice. The only problem I've had with it is you aren't able to connect to the internet and still use your home phone as stated by the product.

I love it!.......2005-12-25

I have had this LCD for about a year now, and I have been impressed with it everyday! I do a lot of graphics and this LCD was good to go right out of the box! I didn't need to do any color customization at all. The only down falls are the power supply isn't intergrated, so you have a brick to deal with and you have to use software to adjust brightness, contrast, etc. But that can be a good or a bad thing, since there is only on, heat activated, button for power you get a very elegent look.

You can't beat how slim it is and it's got a DVI and RGB, sepertate, inputs on the back. Supposdly you can get this moniter in an array of different colors (according to the box) but the silver one is all I have seen, it has a white enamel back and silver base. Samsung is written on the bezel of the monitor, the base and on the back of the disply. Otherwise there is nothing else written on that, just some sticker you can take off.

I recommed this or the smaller 17" 173p for anyone!

I am an sight impaired individual that was using an CRT that was made by AOC. THe monitor was ok but it was causing a lot of eye strain. So, I researched quite a few LCD monitors and I went to some of the major electronics to preview the displays. As I kept researching and previewing many displays my eyes was always affix on the 193p. I was impressed with the contrast, brightness, and color depth. So, I went ahead and purchased it from j&R Electronics. I received it within a week, connected it to my computer and I was even more impressed! I am enjoying every second of use. I highly recommend this oroduct.

Don't waste your time with Old Technology.......2005-04-09

The bottom line - this display is unacceptable for playing video games or watching DVDs! I am currently running with an ATI Radeon 9800 with DVI to this LCD. When stationary, the picture looks great, however the 20ms response time makes Counter Strike unpleasant, and Far Cry nauseating to play. Turning around inside or outside becomes a blur. The walls on either side of a cooridor becomes a blur when running through. Watching DVDs is very do-able, but during fast sequences, especially when the background is spinning quickly you can't make out anything.
Those who reviewed this monitor and said the response time was un-noticable when using the DVI input were wrong. It truly boggles me how they came to this conclusion. This is old technology, and should not be purchased!

I love my monitor........2005-03-22

After reading the reviews on this monitor, and checking other websites, I decided to purchase this Samsung SyncMaster. With the rebates (which I hopefully will receive from J&R) this was an extremely good buy for the quality of this monitor. I can't give the technical input some others have given, but I can say this is all I could want in a monitor. This is the first review I have ever written, but I am so impressed, and thankful for the reviews that led me to make this purchase, that I felt obligated to add my recommendation.

Finally, a product that works--.......2005-03-11

I have an old computer that I was trying to hook up to a wireless network. After two trys with PCI cards (only to find out that my computer bus was too old to be compatible) I resorted to buying a wireless bridge to plug in to my ethernet port--it works! Just a warning--get the same brand bridge as you have in the wireless router to make things easy! I got a different bridge because it was cheaper and it was more difficult to set up and broke in two days (Also Amazon.com had a good price and there return policy is good if you have a problem--most other stores charge a restocking fee--I found that out the hard way)

Great Bridge......After you update the firmware........2004-10-25

I use this bridge connected to a linksys switch for my Xbox, Playstation 2, and my ReplayTV. When I first purchased the bridge I had a hard time getting it to link to my roommate's wireless router (Buffalo Wireless). It was seeing great signal strength, but wouldn't connect to it. I went online and got the latest firmware for the bridge, and in 10 seconds had it working great. It has pretty good speed, and I don't get any lag (usually) when playing online games. I still think it's a little pricey for what you get though, but that's just me.

Works great--but only after lots of configuration/support.......2004-10-16

I decided to piggyback off the wifi signal of a neighbor. Out of the box, the WGE101 refused to connect to the signal. After a couple of calls to NetGear support in India, a firmware upgrade solved the problem. But then I tried to connect the WGE101 to my NetGear wireless router/switch (the WGE101 does not have a switch so it can be directly connected to only one device), nothing connected to the switch could connect to the Internet. After a few more calls to NetGear support, turning off DHCP and manually configuring the IP settings seemed to solve the problem. Later, I decided not having DHCP was a hassle, so I turned DHCP back on, and everything seems to be working fine.

The WGE101 is a new product, so if you're a newbie who wants to plug-n-play, you'll be disappointed. But if you're a little bit technical (e.g., you know how to configure IP settings and update firmware), and you don't mind having to spend a few hours on the phone with technical support and messing around with settings, then the final result will be worth it.

Check the MAC Address.......2004-10-03

I purchased this product to re-connect my wired network to my wireless network. I have a Linkys WET54G which I moved to another location in the house. To make a long story short, I found that the WGE101 MAC address was being incorrectly reported by the setup software it comes with. I finally got it to connect with WRT54G after I put in the MAC address it was seeing. Works great now that its set up and connected.

Decent speeds in mixed mode.......2004-05-15

I already own the WGT 624 that goes b/g/super-g, and my laptop was just b, but I bought for the future when I got a g-bridge (mainly for my xbox).

With the router setup as b and g, I got throughput speeds of 2.5 megabytes a second from a different floor of the house from bridge to router, which is about 20Mbps.

I've always bought netgear products and I like the whole slick-silver design, and the ability to stack the units on top of each other. I already own the FS608 and could stack the bridge ontop of that.

My only problems with the router was how to add it to the access list. I figured out that you do NOT add the bridge's mac address, but instead any device that connects through the bridge to the router... so if you have 15 computers being bridged to the router, you have to add all 15 mac addresses to the router... that sounds like somewhat of a pain, but if you think about it, your network is that much more secure...

The reason I say that is, suppose you had a bridge connecting to an accesspoint to further spread signals within your network... well by having to add every mac address that goes through the bridge, you are individually authorizing everyone, instead of just allowing the bridge itself.

Anyways... I feel it's a good product and will continue to buy from netgear.
