Arrived Defective.......2007-09-08
I was interested in this player due to the fact it plays OGG files (since I just made the jump to a Linux system) and that it had a line in for recording MP3's straight to memory. Problem was, every time I went to change modes to record, or use the FM radio feature, or even to change the track it was playing, the device would power off & reboot. I contacted Samsung and the recommended that I download a firmware upgrade from their website, still no improvement. I'm very disappointed with this product.

Washed and still works!.......2007-04-30
I bought this mp3 player for my daugther over a year ago. She left it in her jeans pocket and then threw her jeans in the washing machine. This mp3 player went through a full wash and spin and it STILL WORKS.
My daughter has dropped it, stepped on it, thrown it... and it STILL WORKS. The little plastic cover it comes with did break and the battery cover cracked, but it STILL WORKS.
You would think she is trying to break it on purpose, but that little Samsung will not give up. It just keeps going, and going, and going.
Defective.......2007-04-22
I've had this unit since 11-06 and have used it infrequently. The first problem I had 2-3 months ago was trying to delete files (while not plugged into my PC) which I was successful doing once. After that I would go into delete and the cursor would bounce around. Now when I go to delete a file the unit shuts off. I've had problems with trying to resume to listening to files (podcasts) similar to another review, when previously it worked fine and resumed where I left off. I also can't turn the unit on or off 4/5 times without having to remove the battery to "reset" it.
Customer service was good when trying to help me out.

Excellent buy..........2007-05-17
This is an excellent buy in an mp3 player. I bought my first one two years ago and it's still going strong. The battery life is unbelievable. I have purchased two more, as gifts, since then. This Samsung player holds over 150 songs, picks up FM radio and records... I haven't used the record feature except to test it.
The sound is very good through the provided earbuds but after 6 months, I upgraded to a more comfortable pair. Read the manual thoroughly, some of the tuning and equalizer controls take a couple of step to find.
If you can still find this model, new or reconditioned, buy it... you'll like it.
Great little player, good sound, long battery life.......2007-05-07
I got this as a spare and it works great, small, great sound, 40 hours
on one AA battery and cheap, this was a great deal.
Great for music but not so good for audiobooks, while has resume the
fast forward/rewind is way to slow for large MP3 files, if you split the
books into 2-3 minute tracks they don't always play in the correct order.
Still a great deal though.
Very economical and well-featured player.......2007-03-16
I've had the mp3 player for only acouple of days so far, but it works great, I can't stop listening. The player is very handy, pocketable, and the FM tuner is a good bonus. You probably won't get good reception off the stock tuner presets, however. I just use the manual tuner. I don't plan on using the voice recorder, but I can see how it might be handy sometime, say if I needed to take a quick note or such.
Shipping was incredibly fast, and the product was WELL PACKAGED to prevent damage in transport. Out of the box, this player was a snap to get working. I just put the included CD into the drive, it installed, and from there on it's drag-and-drop for tunes.
I can say, however, there is one significant issue. The joystick-dial is basically the same one as on my Samsung camcorder, and they atleast seem to be fragile, if not so, and I suggest users be careful and patient with the controls. Otherwise, nothing unusual. I give it 5 stars because for the price, it comes with a great array of features, and is very simple to use. The best example of Plug-and-Play electronics.
It also features a removeable battery, which is in my opinion important. Several different mp3 players and similar electronics have an internally located rechargeable battery which cannot readily be removed, so if the battery wears down, malfunctions, or otherwise has a problem, you have to return the entire player for service, or buy a new one. Using a single AA, very practical, and solves the proprietary battery issue quite well.
Great Product.......2007-01-19
I couldn't be happier with this MP3 player. It comes with a small USB adapter and a USB cable if you need more length. Transfers file quickly right through windows explorer. Don't use the software they supplied, it's much slower. Sounds great and has a standard 3.5mm jack so you can easily plug in a better set of headphones. The buds that came with it sound good but don't stay in my ear very good. Got another set that wrap around the ear at Walmart for $5.99.

I am convinced that there are three types of people who buy Monster products: 1: Naive buyers who are duped by salesmen into believing that NOT buying Monster Cable will make their expensive DVD player/Home Theater/Etc. purchase utterly worthless. 2: Superstitious audiophiles who believe the ridiculous hype behind Monster products and immediately assume that "more expensive" equals "better," and 3: People who are in need of cable, but can't find anything BUT Monster products, as they dominate the A/V cabling sections of most retailers.
All double-blind listenings tests have shown that high-priced "premium" speaker wire is not a whit better than cheap speaker wire bought at your local Home Depot. Resistance, Inductance, and Capacitance, are the ONLY things that affect cable performance; marketing hype cannot change the laws of physics. All that matters is that the cable is decently shielded, and that cable should be thicker for longer connections to reduce resistance. Ultra high-priced speaker cable is a scam, and it's depressing to see major electronics retailers foisting this "Monster" nonsense upon unsuspecting buyers who don't know any better. Save your money.

Moster Cable makes the Best Wire Available!!.......2002-06-24
Those cheap, thin wires that come with your speakers do not take full advantage of your stereo. The high resistance of thin wires looses wattage and can make your sound somewhat distortated or lacking depth. If you have a high powered system, a several thousand dollar quality system, or just an every day sony system, you will notice a difference. More power reaches your speakers making more base and less distortion. The thick wire adds depth and can greatly improve overall quality.
Do I use Monster cable? Well, yes, of corse! I have an Onkyo
60 X 5 surround sound reciver with surround sound model
#TX-SV444. I have KLH speakers. 4 satilites, a center, and a 120 watt powered sub. The set is model #SS02-HTIB. I originally had the stock KLH wire hooked up with my system, and it sounded good. But when I added the monster cable, the sound became strong and full of depth. I got much more bass out of the small sattilites, and the highs were noticably clearer.
If I have a choice, I will never buy another brand of wire.
A Definate Upgrade.......2001-12-14
Many people have not had the opportunity to listen to a good stereo with good speaker wire. Let's face it, many people have not had the opportunity to listen to a good stereo. After hooking up the Monster XP speaker wire to my Kenwood 507 Home Theater in a box system, I was truly amazed by the sound quality difference.
I was a little hesitant buying 50 dollar speaker wire - I mean come-on - I'm not made of money here... I just bought a $500 Home Theater system. But it was DEFINATELY WORTH IT. The added bass really enhances the full spectrum of sound. Whether you are listening to electronic music, classic rock, or classical - YOU WILL NOTICE A DIFFERENCE on a good stereo. I did hook it up to my low wattage Aiwa bookshelf system and did not find a huge difference. Maybe a little fuller bass.
When considering buying a good Stereo, Home Theater system, or Speakers - Don't go cheap on the speaker wire. It's like buying a Porche 911 and putting pleather on the seats...why ruin a beautiful thing?
ONE IMPORTANT POINT: Monster offers this wire in a off-white color instead of the clear plastic covers. If you want mount speakers on walls or hide the wire discretly - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LOOKING FOR THIS COLOR. (...)

I had some cheap speaker wire running between a great receiver and some decent speakers. I thought it sounded okay, but I wasn't really impressed. I bought some of this cable and as soon as I had everything rewired and turned on the system, I could notice that it sounded better. The bass seemed a lot lower and I was happy with the difference. My roommate also noticed the difference as well. Investing in cables is usually a pretty good idea considering how much interference can be caused by a lack of shielding, and how many cables you usually have running out of the back of a system.
