The 1 GB Sansa m240 will hold approximately 16 hours of CD-quality MP3 tracks (encoded at 128kps) or 32 hours of WMA tracks (at 64kbps). It's compatible with MP3, WMA, secure WMA, and Audible audio file formats. The backlit LCD screen shows ID3 tag information for the currently playing track (song title, artist and album). Navigate the music on your player with ease, sorting by artist, album, song title, playlist or other criteria. With five equalizer types, you can optimize your sound for your favorite style of music, such as, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Pop, and Custom (user-defined). FM Radio

Ease of Operation

Why would you buy an Ipod Shuffle?.......2007-09-24
First of all, I like to convert all my CD's to MP3, and I like to move them along from one media to another: I love the flexibility of non proprietary music. All this said, whatever I download from the web has to be on MP3 format, playable wherever I want. This takes anything related with Apple out of my reach. This Sandisk MP3 player is a very robust solution for music on the go. I jog, I bike, I hike, and this player is just right for all those activities. Besides the convenience of the price and the ease of getting songs in or out of it, you also get an armband that conveniently places the player so close to your ears that the earphones cables do not bother you at all.
Sound is great and reliability is very good.
No complaints on this player at all.

I purchased this MP-3 player for my daughter and am generally happy with it. A couple of things that I wish I had known: 1. You need to select between the types of input on the player before your computer will recognize that you have attached it. 2. Do not purchase an iTunes card to buy music to place on an MP-3 player (in fact, I still do not know where to buy MP-3's rather than MP-4's). It is a fairly nice MP-3 player, just a little difficult to figure out at first.

I love this player, the storage of music is very good, the fm tuner is a neat feature on the product but the static interfence is annoying at times. overall the player is a very good buy and cool music player to have when working out or for overall fun.

I had never purchased an MP3 player. This one is great! It holds all the music I need or a book on audio. I think it is wonderful. The price was certainly good and delivery was received in only a couple of days.

I got tired of using my son's old mp3 player and I broke down and bought my own. I love it, it holds plenty of songs, its easy to use and it has an FM tuner on it. I can take it to the gym and listen in to whatever they have on tv (using the FM tuner) or play my own playlist. I love it.
Awesome product, great features, and a good buy........2005-12-14
So the other day I decided to breakdown and purchase an MP3 player. My first choice was to look at the ipods and see what they had to offer. I liked the ipod shuffle because of its size, but it was lacking. What is great about the Sansa m240 is that it has the same memory, BUT it has a display, FM tuner, and a voice recorder. These were not the main features that caught my attention though. The nice thing about the Sansa m240 is that it takes a AAA battery that lasts about 17-18 hours, and doesn't need the fruity itunes format. I have a ton of MP3's on my PC and I don't want to spend my time converting them in any way. All one needs to do is plug in the usb port and drag the tracks you want. Simple as that. It's a small player and is lightweight. I'm glad they were sold out of the 1gb ipod shuffles because I'm not a big fan of Apple products. Apple is like the metric system in the computer world, it's simple to convert but everyone else is standard.

I bought this and it worked for a week. Very poor quality. Pay the extra and get an Ipod Nano. It's much better for the few extra $.
Simple and effective.......2007-03-15
I have been using this now for the last two years, and I love it! No hoops to jump through to get your music on (and off) your player unlike the other bigger and newer players. You can use this also as a USB drive if you need that quick data dump. The drive connects to your PC (WIN) via the USB port, and if using XP no further drivers to install (WIN9x drivers are provided).
Also don't let the bigger players fool you stating they hold gazillions of songs, its all down to the quality they were encoded at. Sure you could fit thousands of songs on a player if they are encoded at 128 kbps or lower. I found that most of these claims were based on songs encoded at 64 kbps (AM Radio Quality sound).
I like my music at 192 kbps or higher, and at this time I filled it with at least 180 songs.
Drawback, this does not work with the DRM protection scheme that they pack with most of their songs.
The EQ is very nice, and allows the user to adjust the bands rather then having a preset environment that is common in most newer players. So if you want the bass up a notch go for it.
The battery life is very long, I invested into rechargeable AAA batteries, and on average, I get at least nine or more hours out of a AAA batter. This is another nice advantage, your out of batteries, you can stop at any market and pick up AAA batteries and your back in business. Unlike the other MP3 players who require a USB port to charge from.
Good MP3 Player.......2007-03-13
You get what you pay for. It's a great alternative to an iPod. The sound is just as great, and downloading songs is even easier than iTunes. There is no installing of anything and you can download songs to the MP3 from any computer (unlike the iPod). I found this MP3 player to be extremely easy to use. The only complain I have is with its song searching capabilities. It's just not as easy as the ipod. The battery life is really good. I didn't have to change batteries that often. Overall is a good buy for your money if all you are looking for is an easy, simple MP3 player. Great for young kids..if you don't want to spend the money on an ipod.
Constant Issues.......2007-02-12
We bought the MP3 for our 15 year old son and it had issues from day one. We sent it back as the screen was bad. It continually lost songs or would erase whole folders. The control buttons were small and hard to navigate. Their tech department was of little help with issues. We finally got an Ipod instead.

Warning - Unstable Product.......2007-05-12
I bought two of these for my church. I struggled with these products for 4 months before finally convincing the VAR to let me return them. There are severe bugs in the firmware and possibly the hardware. I went through 4 RMAs with Netgear before giving up on the product. Technical support was great but engineering just couldn't come through with a fix. Look at the forums before purchasing to make sure that the issues have been addressed.
Mistake! .......2007-03-07
I purchased two of these units in December. This model seems to randomly stop routing traffic to the internet on random wireless attached computers (local network is fine). Three months later and numerous emails and phone calls to Netgear they sent me a replacement; SAME issues with the new model! Not all Netgear products are bad, this one is. Don't ever try to work with Netgear support, just not worth the stress.
Not worth it.......2007-02-08
Just about the only thing good about this unit is how easy it is to setup.
This AP is not worth paying extra for. I have personally demoted this "business class" AP to home use...which sadly doesn't even perform well in such conditions where multiple wireless stations are present in the environment (as with all multi-dwelling unit/condos)...even when it is literally less than 20 ft away. Contant constant connect/disconnects make it extremely unreliable.
The "auto-cell" feature, which was a major reason for purchase, is deprecated. New firmware doesn't even have it (non-existent in the v2 release of this product).
I'm not saying this unit doesn't work, it does, but it offers nothing more than a standard AP costing much much less. There are some features such as VLANs and maybe if that's a key requirement, then it can work for you (v2 models).
However, if you're looking for performance/reliability basics in "harsh" environments, you will do just as good, or poorly, with any other "standard" home use AP.

Got 2 of these to make a local area network between myself and neighbor down the street. We have what I think is a fairly simple network (router to ap to remote ap), and between the awful documentation, terible support (besides language issues, they just won't answer the questions you ask), and a web interface issues, I am quite disappointed. 2 stars because it took my friend (a guy with multiple network certifications), and myself (with a bs in computer science), many evenings to get it to work. Would have done 1 star if we never got it working. Even now, we don't have the house-to-house thing inplace due to needing a better antenna. My advise: go straght to the forums for support if you can't get it working on the first 10 tries. This might be a good piece of harware, but without good software and good support, it is not worth buying.
This unit is terrible.......2005-02-23
I've concluded that while they advertise heavily that this unit supports WPA-Enterprise with RADIUS, it does not. It doesn't even support WPA-Personal. Netgear says it has something to do with TKIP.
Further, Netgear has the cheapest tech support for product that is at least somewhat known.
Therefore, they sell you something full of lies and they don't provide support worth squat. I even tried "level 2" support and they weren't able to help me.
Don't waste your money on this unit.
I'm getting ready file a suit in civil court to recoup my loses from this product. (about a week and half from writing this review)
