Amazon.com Review
Sennheiser's HD570 headphone replaces the discontinued HD545 model. Like the model it replaces, the 570 uses an open-ear design that lets you clearly hear environmental sounds but also allows other listeners in the room to hear the music being played. The 570's earpieces also have a sharply pointed bottom, designed to more closely encircle the ear--those with particularly large ears may even find these snug. However, like all Sennheiser headsets, the 570s are extremely comfortable to wear for long periods of time, assuming the fit is good.
And, like almost all Sennheiser headphones, the HD570s have a rich, seductive midrange and deep, authoritative bass response. Where this set differs from most of the line is in its top end. The 570's high frequencies are more pronounced than the usual Sennheiser sound, as typified by the glorious HD600 and now-obsolete HD580. If you find the sound of those headsets on the dark (high-frequency restricted) and unexciting side of accurate, you'll likely be delighted with the tonal balance of the 570. On the other hand, if you find those models just right, you'll hear the 570 as bright, possibly even extremely bright (with accentuated treble response).
Of course, this also depends upon the source components you listen to. Cassettes and underpowered portable CD players might actually benefit from the 570's high-frequency boost, whereas most receivers or separate headphone amplifiers don't need it. Because the HD570 wants a fairly substantial signal to sound its best, however, it should not be used with most portable players. Dedicated amplifiers produce the best sound.
This is a comfortable headset with a different tonal balance from most Sennheisers. We suggest careful consideration (abetted, perhaps, by a 30-day return policy) before committing to living with the HD570. However, if this is the sound you're looking for, the HD-570 is rugged and extremely well constructed. You'll get a lifetime of use out of them. --L.V. Phillips
Pros:
- Lightweight design and padded headband make them comfortable for hours of listening
- Low-distortion Duofol diaphragms provide exceptional detail and clarity
- Single-sided cable makes it easier to move around while wearing headphones
Cons:
- 64-ohm impedance level makes headphones difficult for most portable players to drive; works best with dedicated headphone amplifier
- Somewhat bright (trebly) tonal balance may strike some listeners as too much of a good thing
Amazon.com Product Description
Sennheiser's HD570 Symphony is a full-size headphone system incorporating audiophile-grade components, lightweight voice coils, and Duofol membranes for virtual elimination of standing waves (buildup of sound at specific frequencies that unfavorably color the sound). With a frequency response of 18 to 22,000 Hz and a 120-ohm impedance, the HD570 mates beautifully with both home and personal stereos.
The HD 570's extremely lightweight aluminum voice coils offer the highest transient response and vivid, smooth sound reproduction, abetted by Sennheiser's new damping element for controlling diaphragm oscillation. Neodymium magnets ensure powerful dynamics.
A detachable 10-foot OFC (oxygen-free copper) cord connects to the left earpiece only, reducing tangles and giving you room to roam. The 0.25-inch phone jack also comes with a miniplug adapter, making it compatible with any size headphone jack. The innovative BioNetic design adapts to the shape of your head, and the adjustable headband has an airy, plastic cushion for added comfort.
Sennheiser's HD570 Symphony has replaceable parts and a two-year warranty.
Customer Reviews:
Exceptional.......2007-09-21
I have the Sennheiser H570 for close to 7 years now. It still delivers the same amazing sound like when it was new. I can hear every note from every instrument with it. When I play video games, I constantly look behind me. I swear somebody or something is breathing on my neck. The clarity is absolutely frightening. Even though it is full sized, it is light as a feather. Superbly comfortable. Do your ears a favor, buy this or similar quality headphone instead of those megabass, earcanal blocking earbugs.
High quality, kind of bulky.......2007-01-23
Great sound, high quality construction. Highly recommended. They are a litte heavy and bulky, but there are not many with this sound quality that are NOT.
Absolutely fantastic........2006-06-15
I've owned these headphones for now over 4 years, and I am still amazed at the clarity and the absolutely beautiful sounds they produce. I currently have the headphones hooked up to my Soundblaster Audigy card, set to Surround Sound, and it just sounds absolutely fantastic. Music, games, movies... what have you. These things are durable as hell, as well. I've recently went to Sennheiser's website and purchased replacement ear muffs (hair gel has turned them rock solid), a new head band, and a new cord (which i've crushed over and over again, and yet, still seems to work like new). If for any reason you need to take the headphones apart, they're incrediably easy to disassemble/reassemble. This allows for easy cleaning and part replacement.
Overall, i've never been more satisfied with any purchase I have ever made. This has been by far the best investment to date, as they STILL provide high quality sound. I've slammed these things around, dropped them time and time again, nearly crushed them, and now after four years strong, I will unconditionally go Sennheiser again when the time comes again (if it does!).
Sennheiser Rocks.......2005-04-02
I've had the HD570s for over a year now and I use them EVERYDAY. I originally thought 100+ was too much for headphones, but I never regret purchasing these! The headphones are very comfortable and the sound quality is phenomenal. I highly highly recommend these to everyone!
Great price for audiophiles, but indeed, fragile........2005-02-28
There are no other headphones that compare to this one in sound fidelity, comfort AND price. Definitely great sounding headphones. All those reviews claiming bass response is low or treble is too high are overstatements, and probably didn't allow some hours of break-in.
The higher fidelity the headphones are, means usually you will have higher resistance, these being 64 Ohms. Some of the professional headphones use 120 or even 300 Ohm drivers. Of course you'll get lower volume, some of these are meant to be used in quiet studios (open-aural requires quiet places) and professional equipment (good quality amplifiers)! However I found these to suit my needs perfectly, as it can still respond loud enough for my cdplayer and mp3player (it will still blast my ears if cdplayer volume is maxed). My computer will play it the loudest, being able to hear it all around the room without them on.
I really love the sound of these headphones, but care has to be taken, for mine also stopped working in the right ear. Sometimes it can be due to not plugging in the the cable completely, but in my case, it did stop working. Try to use this at home, if you're careful, you can take them around the neck, but my advice is don't carry them around in a bag. T_T sob.
So for those who just want lots of bass and usability with portable devices (low wattage, high volume), just go for a pair of low-impedance(32 Ohm) HD457, they are even cheaper. You probably won't notice the fidelity with all that loud volume and bass blasting, but compared to the HD 570, makes it sound like crap IMO. Remember, HD 570 are high fidelity, budget, and audiophile oriented headphones, and if you like music as it is meant to be appreciated, get these. You'll hear sounds you never knew were in that cd, and clarity that will blow you away. However, if you just want it to be used with portable audio, and don't care about sound quality i'd recommend any sony headphones, and spend your 80-100 bucks elsewhere.

Customer Reviews:
GREAT PLAYER.......2003-08-14
I have had this player for a year or 2, and it is aboslutely great. Its taken a few bangs, but that didnt hurt it at all, jus maybe a scratch of the paint. It runs like new, and has a LOT of great features such as 1x or 2x bass boost, radio with digital tuner, resume (starts you from where you left off), hold (locks the buttons), repeat, repeat all, shuffle, scan, 45 second anti-skip, and a clock with an alarm and choice of playing buzzer, cd, or radio. I would highly recomend this player to anyone, it is solid, and doesnt scratch cd's at all, even when its jolted. If you're lookin for a great player, get this one.
Great cd player!!!.......2002-02-16
This is a really good CD player. The features that are included in it are tremendous. For [the money] you get a great cd player, an ac adapter, and headphones. The radio that is included is AM/FM and has the best reception I have ever heard. The headphones act as FM, and the AM antenna is built into the CD player. Normal alkaline batteries can last up to 22 hours! Another great thing is that the CD player never skips. It also has an alarm clock, a clock, and 99 track programming. The ac adapter works very well. The best thing of all though is the sound- it has 2 bass modes and it sounds likes the music is coming from very good speaker.....
Great overall performance with some minor design issues.......2001-02-28
I had a hard time choosing between Philips AZ923017 and the similarly featured and priced Aiwa XP-R210. The Aiwa XP-R210 is very nice looking and also has a digital tuner and plays CD-RW's as well. It has bigger buttons that are easier to press while driving, but it doesn't have a clock and alarm that Philips has, which is something I really wanted. I bought the Aiwa for its looks and ease of use, but after reading the Amazon reviews, I agonizingly decided to exchange the Aiwa for the Philips. I couldn't have been happier with the decision! The Philips CD player is everything the Amazon reviewers said it would be, and more.
First thing, if you're hoping to open the plastic packaging with as little destruction as possible for return purposes, good luck. I found it difficult to do so, and ended up with about five scratches and two band-aids on my hand. But after the battle, I found the player to be a true keeper. The big difference between the two is that the Aiwa uses 5V of power while the Philips uses 4.5V. Neither of them comes with a car kit, but there are plenty of third-party car adapters that can supply 4.5V. It's hard to find one that can handle Aiwa's 5V and I didn't want to rely on batteries.
The Good Stuff: The digital tuner is excellent. The AM antenna is inside and the headphone cord acts as the FM antenna. The alarm clock function is great. It can be set to alarm with a beeping sound, the tuner, or a CD. I use a powered external speaker and a CD to wake me up. The standard sound and two extra DBB levels sound very nice. The DBB levels produce very clear bass boosts. The player has two small rubber footpads that keep the player from sliding around. My CD's haven't skipped yet, even after I pounded the player a few times, which I wouldn't recommend but it was still fun. The player also comes with a power adapter and huge bulky headphones. Also, pressing a button wakes up the player, but it can cause accidental wake up calls. If you had batteries inside and accidentally pressed a button, the player would wake-up and stay on without you being aware of it.
The Minor Stuff: The buttons are a bit small but workable. I would have preferred larger buttons for use while driving where I could feel my way around the player without looking at it. The power off button is the "Stop" button, but a power switch would have been nice to prevent accidental wake-up calls. The volume control wheel is also small and nearly flush with the casing making it a little difficult to control. The battery compartment is inside the CD compartment, which requires you to remove the CD to change batteries, but unless you plan on using cheap batteries with a two-hour life span, this is very minor. The high beeps from pressing the buttons is probably the most annoying of everything else and I don't believe this can be muted, but eventually you get used to it.
Overall, I gave the Philips AZ923017 five stars because it has all the features I wanted in a CD player. The design issues are very minor and don't take away from the overall quality of the player. I recommend this CD player to anyone who likes to burn his or her own CD's. If you are as picky as I am when it comes to burning CD's, using CD-RW's gives you the added flexibility in making your perfect music CD's.
The Best.......2001-01-20
This is the best cd player that i have ever bought. I have bought others that cost alot more and don't even have a radio or clock. I have had it for about a year and i have not even had any problems with it at all. I would even recommend it to a first time buyer.
Philips does it again with a great CD player........2000-12-26
Back in February or March, I purchased the Philips AZ911117, or something similar to it because I don't know exactly what model I had. I think a reviewer on here wanted to know it's durability...well, here it is for you and everybody. That CD player was practically impervious during the 9 months of torture I put it through: countless falls onto concrete floors, spills *into* the CD player, even the CD cover even broke off a couple of times, but I managed to secure it back on again (but one last note: I would NOT recommend testing it's durability with the "tests" listed above). I went through about 7 or 8 pairs of headphones because they were into all of the falling/spilling action also, but did not survive the torture as well. I decided to give the player away last week to somebody because I kind of already knew that I was getting another for Christmas. As one may expect, it was not in the greatest of looks or working condition, but played CDs nonetheless.
The AZ923017 CD player is 10 times better than the one I had previously. 45 seconds of skip protection instead of 40, CD-R and CD-RW compatibility (the most important feature for me), 2 bass (DBB) levels, and an AM/FM radio which needs no antennae and still does an excellent job picking up radio signals. The only cons to this system is the alarm system, which I would probably never use anyway, and the headphones are huge (but fit my big head nonetheless :P). Also, like on the other player, the annoying beeps for every button you push, and your CD player settings are resetted to the default every time you open the cover. But these are very extraneous and do not make a big difference, and don't even compare to the durability of Philips CD players. I won't have to worry about this one holding up if it is built like the last. Definitely recommended a million times over other CD players I've had.

Customer Reviews:
Great German optics for the price!.......2007-07-04
The Steiner Marine 7x50 binoculars have met my (admittedly high) expectations. The Sports Auto-Focus is great -- even better on my Marine pair than the Predator models that I looked at in Academy Sports. It makes changing from viewing one object to another fast and easy. They are very clear too. With the focus set at the closest range I can read the buttons on my microwave from across my small trailer. Using them out of doors the foliage really pops out (even when overcast). In almost complete darkness they enable one to see things the naked eye cannot. I have used them at night when I could barely see to walk around. The view through the binoculars was hardly affected at all. Once I used them to look from my parent's back yard, across the (six-lane) interstate, into the parking lot of the local community college at night. I could see the bugs playing around the streetlights!
I hadn't seen this particular pair in person, so they surprised me with their light weight -- some people had called them heavy online. They must be very frail people. This pair is much, much lighter than the Sears brand ones my parents got me 15+ years ago that are smaller. Compared to all steel binoculars the Steiners hardly weigh anything. They are not so light that image-shake is a problem however. The weight combined with the 7 magnification makes for an easily stabilized view.
One other thing of note is the 22mm of eye relief. That is a very helpful feature to me since I wear eyeglasses. Other binoculars with less eye relief have been problematic for me -- even ones with 19mm eye relief made by Steiner. Of course, for those who do not wear glasses, the rubber eye-cups can be folded out to reduce the amount of eye relief. In that mode people with normal vision do not seem to have any problem with them.
So far I am pleased with the binoculars in every detail but one. The strap sucks. It is way too thin, and I could imagine that after a day in the field the binoculars would really dig into one's shoulders with the supplied strap. What is a little odd is that the case that came with them is rather nice and has a comfortable, wide strap attached to it... The package also came with a little cleaning cloth, which was kind of a nice touch.
For the price, $260 through Amazon with free shipping, I think the Steiner Marine 7x50 model is fantastic. It would certainly be hard to beat the performance in that price range!
excellent low light performance.......2006-09-29
I have the 7x50 Steiner Ralleye model, which appears to be identical to the Marine version. It is built like a tank and gives you a lot of confidence that it will hold up to abuse. In low light and night conditions this is an excellent performer. If you are using this is an area with a lot ambient light (such as a town) or moonlight, it will really bring a lot of detail out of the shadows and is a better choice by far then night vison equipment costing hundreds more. The 7x magnification is also a nice choice for avoiding lense shake. (I also have a pair of 9x40 Steiners, and that move from 7x-9x power is noticeable.) The 7x50 also allows you to better follow moving targets. The sport auto focus system works very well and the optics are excellent.

Product Description
The design for this binocular is based on the legendary Steiner military-issue 7 x 50, selected by the US Army and over 40 other nations. 7 x 50 optics provide excellent low-light performance and image stability. These optics, and Steiner's Sports Auto-Focus system make this the perfect binocular for boating and law enforcement applications, as well as most hunting uses. Extra-long eye relief for eyeglass wearers and comfort during extended hours of use.
Customer Reviews:
Great binocular for all around use.......2006-08-18
I've used the military version of these extensively while in the US Marines. They were great when set up in a stationary position, such as a rooftop or bunker, where you needed to observe for extended periods of time. I bought the Military/Marine model recently for boating, camping, and backyard astronomy. They are a little bit too big to take on day hikes, but I wouldn't hesitate to take them on an overnight camping trip where I'd be carrying a large pack. Overall low-light performance is excellent, and the only difference I can see between these and the Military R model is the lack of reticle.
This is a great pair of binoculars for the car, boat, or camping.

Customer Reviews:
Direct TV plus is horrible - not just this box.......2006-04-10
I got the new direct tv plus when my old samsung (with the black controller) broke after I dropped it. This was the replacement, I finally called up saying i couldn't take it any more, it would randomly not record shows, randomly record half a show, not find shows in the listing, etc etc etc. After I escalated to advanced tech, they admitted there are software issues and sent me a new box with the old splash (he said all the boxes are essentially same with different faceplate). So be wary of the direct tv plus, it might not necessarilyi be the hardware. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO much happier now I got rid of it.
can directv get any better?.......2006-01-03
What a receiver. I have two dvr's one hd dvr other philips and I have this rca receiver. My wife wanted me to trade it in for a directv d10 receiver. I refused. Once I upgraded toan hd dvr I put my regular dvr in my room and put my rca receiver in my boy's room. I even purchased a second one for my girl's room. My kids have directv,I have directv,we are happy. Thank goodness for rca and directv.
Piece of Junk.......2002-11-09
This is the 2nd RCA box I have been through in the last 9 months. Granted it is not the most [costly] one around, so I guess you get what you pay for these days. I would recommend getting a midrange (price) of one of RCA's competitors products. It did however have nice features when it worked.
RCA is 1 letter from spelling CRAP.......2002-10-09
I purchased this receiver and have been thru 3 of them. There is always a new problem. Turns itself off, searches for signal in the middle of a program, etc. I have had nothing but problems with RCA products including my new VCR that lasted about 6 hrs.
No problems.......2002-03-18
I've had two of these RCA 420RE's for about 18 months now and have only found one problem with them. The thing I found was that the remote works best with fresh batteries. When the batteries start going down some buttons may not work. I find the menus easy to use. I have friends and family with other receivers and I think the 420's menus are as good if not better. After reading the other reviews I will be knocking on some wood though.
