Looks great but cheap and non-responsive

The position of the \ key annoys me greatly. I should have noticed this before I purchased it. But the biggest problem is they it doesn't always register my key presses. You have to be sure to press the key all the way down or it will ignore you. Like most keyboards, the keys give you a fair amount of resistance until you push hard enough to get past a threshold where the key moves easily. But on this ViewSonic keyboard, that threshold point is not useful feedback but is instead an annoying trick. Pushing the key past this threshold is not enough to register as a key press. I often think I pressed the key but the computer doesn't agree. This one is going in the trash.

Basic and sleek.......2005-04-03

This keyboard looks good, but it's a little small key wise. Not enough room for my hands to move. Also, it feels like it's cheaply made. It has an annoying problem where it will shut off for no apparent reason, forcing me to unplug it and then plug it back in. Although, that might not be the keyboard's fault, it could be my USB drivers. Still, I think I will stick with Logitech in the future.

Okay if you like it to stop working on you.......2005-04-01

Even as I type this now, my NumLock light went out again, and yet surprisingly, I can still type (this is not normally the case). I either have to wait a substantial amount of time for the keyboard to start working again, or unplug and plug back in the USB cable in back. Simply out of nowhere, and usually when I am in the middle of typing something, the keyboard will stop working.

That set aside, if that doesn't bother you, the touch is a bit different, but I've kinda gotten used to it. I wish the keyboard rested up a bit higher - even with the little "stands" pushed up in the back of the keyboard, it seems to rest a little too flat for me. I don't really use the multimedia buttons but I suppose they have their uses.

I bought this keyboard online so I had no chance to try it before buying. I bought it because I've needed a full-size USB keyboard to attatch to my notebook, and I trusted ViewSonic that they make superior products, and also because this keyboard looks beautiful with the black/silver design. Plus it has some multimedia buttons on top.

Well, after owning this keyboard for more than 7 months, I am satisfied with everything above, except for the button feel. It is the worst key feel i ever felt with any other keyboard. When typing quickly it misses letters and sometimes it is way too sensitive if I just touch a button (even not pressed) it will recognize the touch and type the letter. I must carefully review each and every word, something I don't have to do with other keyboards.

I am really surprised to see other reviewers which like the key feel. So is it just me who is out of luck?

Anyway I will have to look elsewhere. I need the keyboard importantly and I need a good one, not just a nice one.

This keyboard is easiest to setup.

Just plugin. No drivers/no hassles.

All shortcut keys work fine. Palmrest is good and keys are soft and responsive.

Nice addon to notebooks for playing keyboard intensive games.

You will love it.

Best Keyboard I've Owned.......2006-01-02

First of all, I would like to state that I got this keyboard about 2-3 years ago. I purchased it when I upgraded my pc. I had no issues at with the installation of this keyboard. It has several wonderful features that I adore. The first set of features that I like are the hot keys. I can open Microsoft Office programs with a touch of a button. I can alsso open My Computer, Calc, Internet, and Mail with a touch of a button. Copy and paste material at a touch of a button. By far this is the best keyboard that I have used. Fortunately I have a wrist rest. This is the only feature that I wish this keyboard had. But, as far as functionality goes, this keyboard is awesome and easy to use.

Not Compatable.......2004-07-29

I purchased this keyboard because of the features. I mainly liked the fact that it has mouse functions built in. Convenient yes? Not quite. The software for the keyboard isn't compatable to my computer for some reason. I had to call the help line for my computer, and the tech I spoke to couldn't figure it out. Beside the fact that this keyboard didn't work; my computer wouldn't boot-up. No matter what I tried, it wouldn't work. My computer tech finally figured out what I had to do to get back into my computer and determined that either there was something wrong with the keyboard, the software or both. I had to send it back. No more of this brand of keyboard for me.

This is a great product, easy installation, fast and stable. Performance certainly beats wireless. Netgear has a new powerline wall-plugged adaptor XE102 that is smaller, but is under recall because it could cause fire. XA601 is well designed for desktop placement, I used it for 2 years never see it got overheated.

Beware the XA601!.......2005-03-04

I have tried Powerline products from various manufacturers, including the Belkin F5D4050 USB Adapter (don't bother, it's garbage), GigaFast PE902 Powerline Ethernet Bridge, the Netgear XE602 Ethernet bridge, the Netgear XA601 USB Adpater, and the Linksys PLUSB10 USB Adapter.

What can I say about the XA601? It is cheap (you can get one from eBay for $12 shipped) and when it works it works great.

The problem I have with the XA601 is when the unit is plugged into the electrical outlet for more than 24 hours the LAN connectivity stops. The only way to fix this is by unplugging the power cord, waiting a few minutes, and plugging it in again.

Maybe the XA601 has a problem with overheating - I don't know. I emailed their Tech Support over a week ago and so far, no response.

If you're looking for a Powerline USB Adpater I suggest the Linksys PLUSB10. The unit I have has been working flawlessly for over 2 months. But they are expensive and hard to find.

Easy, reliable networking for the network novice.......2003-10-24

Both my wife and I work from home two days per week, and we both need high speed Internet access to be our most productive. We created a network in a previous house by purchasing a router and running a cable between two office areas. Now we were in a new home and needed to setup our network again, and running a cable would have been a major construction project. What to do?

We immediately thought of a wireless network. But, as we did our research, we saw repeated reports of the network "dropping off" unexpectedly. Neither of us liked the idea of being in the middle of a discussion with a co-worker, boss, or client while looking at information online and having that information disappear. We wanted reliability and simplicty.

The answer? Powerline networking. New technology had overcome some of the earlier electrical interference problems with powerline networking. We already had a Netgear router from our previous home network that had worked flawlessly for several years. So we purchased the Netgear powerline adapter.

The setup couldn't be much easier: connect the adapter to the router with a standard supplied network cable and plug it in; in the second work location plug in a second adapter, and connect it to your second computer, in our case, my work-supplied laptop.

We've been using this product for 18 months without any problems. On rare occasions my laptop won't "find" the connection. If I unplug the adapter for a minute or two and plug it in again, I'm re-connected. My connection has never dropped off once I'm connected.

The powerline solution isn't quite as "elegant" as a wireless network; you do have to be plugged in to a power outlet, so you don't have the same mobility that you get with wireless. But if you're a serious teleworker, you probably have a work space established, and papers spread out around you anyway. You need to be "at work" not roaming around the yard with your laptop. And if your going to be at work for 8 to 10 hours your laptop will also need to be plugged into an outlet.

Very easy to setup........2003-10-19

This is very easy to setup. Install the included CD driver, plug the unit into your computer's USB port. The other end goes into your power plug. Get two XA601s and do the same for the other computer. And voila, you have a network connection. Its perfect if you use your main computer is the Internet gateway or you just want to play games or trade files between each computer. If your "other" device is a router, then get one XA601 and an XE602, which is the Ethernet port version of the XA601. Its vey clean, convenient, and no messy cables to deal with.

This bag has enough space for still, video camera, a small compact tripod, power charging cords and all other cords, mini DVs. However the outer look and quality of the bag is same as any other bag which you can buy under $10. Bieng samsonite brand I had expected to have outstanding look and outer finish. However it is just an ordinary quality bag which you can pick up in wall mart for lot less price.

I needed a bag for my Olympus E-300 with the lens kit. And this bag does its job quite good....they are protective and it's got few pockets around which are quite useful. I just wish if the height was lil more. With this bag I can only have both the wideangle & telephoto lens if the wideangle is fitted on to the camera(not the telephoto lens).

I bought this for my camcorder awhile back and it's a pretty decent bag. It's sturdy and it holds everything I need. It's decent bag if you travel light however if you're looking for a bag that fits all your camcorder equipment(if your intended use for the bag is a carrying case)then you're better off getting something else.

I bought the Samsonite Worldproof 4.1 to house a Canon es8200V. The bag is perfect for the camcorder, and wastes little space so that you can still enjoy an overall compact convenience. Along with a buckle that secures the lid, the main compartment is further secured by a zipper which is hidden under the hood of the lid, preventing it from clinking annoyingly or accidentally unzipping. There is mesh netting on the inside of the top lid that you can use to store something slim. Also, there are mesh pockets on each side of the case. Even with the camcorder inside, I still have a couple of inches to spare, just enough to use the adjustable partition to store the adapter. Additionally, the front pocket can store videotapes, etc. The one thing that I found different from the posted image is that the blue coloring isn't nearly as bright as it appears. Although much more subdued, I find that the actual blue color is much more fashionable and blends in nicely with the black. The padding is ample, and the material is water resistant and durable.

However, once I received the bag my pleasure went beyond the name. Besides a numerous amount of pocket space to hold all your extra goodies, the main compartment has an adjustable Velcro divider that holds your camera snug while you're on the go. I want to say "Fabulous" to its 8X More Coverage than Regular 802.11g. When I downloaded any medie file, music, mpeg video, it works very fast and reliable. It's user-friendly to install. No problem. MY RECOMMENDATION IS "MUST BUY"!

. . . where I had no access with my old wireless card. I didn't change my router, just the card. I have a medium signal up here, two stories and about 40 yards from the router. The signal is more than enough to compute comfortably and without hassle.

The software installed quickly, and after the card was installed it found my network immediately. A goof proof installation that took no time at all. Nice product!

Cannot access internet or email after installation.......2005-03-21

I purchased both the Netgear Pre-N router (WGM124) and the Netgear Pre-N PCMCIA card (WGM511NA). I got the router to work, but only after calling my ISP (earthlink broadband through Time-Warner cable). My last, and very inexpensive router (AirLink+ AR315W 802.11g) configured itself for my earthlink broadband service without me having to enter any information. So, the router is working and I was able to access the internet and email from my desktop PC, which is hardwired to LAN Port #1.

I then installed the Netgear software and installation wizard on my Compaq laptop using the supplied CD that came with the WGM511NA PCMCIA card. After installation and rebooting, the router recognized the WGM511NA card (both before and after implementing WEP 128-bit security). But I was never able to access the Internet, email or my Office PC.

After waiting twice for 30 minutes to talk with Netgear technical support, they asked a few questions and then declared that the problem was with my 3-month old, Compaq laptop and an incompatibilty with an installed Microsoft Windows XP softare driver (supplied by Microsoft, not Compaq). They refused to help me work around it. They said I would have to call Compaq. Then, unbelievably, I was also told Netgear routers will not work with the latest Microsoft TCIP drivers. I would have to uninstall them. I asked: "Could they help me do this?" The answer was "NO!" The router link light and activity light are both on, but the laptop will not access the Internet or email.

After 2 days of repeatedly rebooting my cable modem, Netgear router and laptop and trying various software and network reconfigurations, still no joy. What a nightmare! I gave up, reconnected my old AirLink router, and reinserted the my old TrendNet PCMCIA wireless 802.11g card in my laptop. When I rebooted my laptop, I once again had access to the Internet and email! No fuss, no reconfiguration issues, no problems with internet or email access. Why can't netgear products install and work this easily????

The only reason I had attempted to upgrade my wireless router and card was to get better networking range within my home. But if Netgear is unwilling to fully support their products and inevitably use the all too common cop-out of blaming the problem on Windows XP drivers or Compaq, I'm done with them. The hardware goes back to the store and they can eat the loss when they have to resell it through the refurb market channel.

My recommendation: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
