First of all, fellow New Yorker marcr2 is not being fair to the Vista, because on the packaging it states clearly this uses the included foldable keyboard. In fact it says you input data either by using the keyboard or by syncing. It's not fair to criticize the manufacturer just because you fail to read the product description closely.

The Vista is a rudimentary electronic planner that can store up to 12,000 records. I saw it at an Odd Job discount store on Lexington Ave and it was selling for forteen dolas, so I bought it just to see what it was like. Well, doesn't look like I'll throw away my HP iPaq 1910 Pocket PC any time soon. The Vista is cute and really small and weighs only 1.6 oz with its two watch-type batteries (one for backup), but since you need the keyboard or a PC to input data, it's not convenient. The user interface is more complicated than necessary, although it's not hard to figure things out on your own. If you get lost, the 4-point-font user's guide helps. It also comes with PC sync software although I have not tested it since this is not going to be my main PDA. For me it's more a toy. But I can see my dad using it; in fact I'm buying him the version with a stylus and touch-screen for the same low forten dolas.

If you just want a simple calendar/addressbook/reminder and don't do much input on the road (or don't mind carrying the 0.5-oz keyboard with you), the Vista is the perfect size, and its price is right. For people with serious PDA needs -- such as downloading games and programs -- you need a Pocket PC or Palm.

nice idea but poor execution.......2001-06-28

I had many of the same problems as the other reviewers. I did not give up and after several days was able to work around the problems, except the back space key thing! I am sure that most readers would not be willing to persevere. But if you do you may be like me and fall in love with this organizer. It is small with a lot of features and memory for the price. It is perfect for me. Who knows, if you're lucky you may get one that actually works right out of the box!

Bad Vista.......2001-06-05

I got one for Xmas and it broke 3 months later. the screen cracked, keyboard stopped fuctioning. I opened it up and found it was poor;y assembled. the screen was not reenforced. The biggest piece of junk ever!

Cannot enter data without the separate keyboard.......2001-05-21

This is advertised as a very compact organizer and seems like a great value at first... then you realize that without the "convenient" keyboard, there is no way to enter data at all. I figured you'd at least be able to enter numbers by hitting the up and down arrows, but no such luck. That means you don't only have to carry around the compact unit, but also the not-so-compact plug in keyboard. I'm going to try and return this. I hope they take it back (cannot be repackaged due to annoying plastic package that you have to cut with scissors to open).

Hate it........2007-07-23

I do not like this item. It is more than appropriate for a 10 year old. I like the fact that it had a soduku game in it, but, you can not use the stylo with it! The organizer is ok, but I mainly needed an organizer for my work and college schedules, and I had to put them in as appointments because the only options were "Appointments" and "To Do Tasks." It seems a little odd to me. I would never have paid $29.99 for it. It is only worth like $10. I returned mine. My advice is not to buy it.

I returned mine........2007-03-07

Why did I return it?
First, the dim screen makes for a better mirror than a way to review inputed data. Then the keyboard (which slides in and out) didn't lock securely in place - so it wobbled as you inputted your data. Yes, there is a stylus there too, so it's not completely keyboard operated, adding to the aggrivation. No way to customize the buttons either, from what I could tell. Overall, the graphic interface and user friendlyness for this thing was high tech in 1985.
In less than a week I was disgusted with it and returned it in favor of a Palm Z22 PDA Three times more expensive - but a thousand times better than this clunker.

Good concept, bad execution.......2007-01-10

I thought I would try buying a basic organizer rather than an expensive PDA, and so I tried the EZ Vue 6. Now, let me first say that it seems quite durable; I've dropped the unit a time or two, and it suffers no more than a scratch. Additionally, it uses standard AAA batteries, so there are no expensive battery packs to buy.

That being said, let me say this: the interface is cumbersome at best, the features are all implemented on the level of a proof-of-concept, and the unit wears out batteries so quickly that you'll be buying a LOT of them.

The interface in detail: perhaps the most annoying part is the task list. Sure, you can enter tasks quickly, but let's say you want to mark one as completed. You can't actually change any aspect of a task until you go into "edit" mode, which is only accessible via the keyboard. Same for deleting any item, so it's impossible to do much with just the stylus. They should have either put more function buttons on the face of the device, or designed it with the keyboard in a fixed position.

The calendar is fine if you have all day to play with it. Efficiency is not the name of the game here; if you want a recurring appointment (say a weekly meeting, for example) you have to make it "recurring" by manually entering each instance. However, viewing things is really easy, and the device could have been marketed for a quarter of its price as a clock/calendar unit.

The spell check, thesaurus, etc., are all useless if you have more than a 600-word vocabulary. The thing can't be used for taking short notes-- I've found a stack of post-its to be more effective for that, and they don't quit working in the middle of a meeting.

If you're looking for a white elephant gift, this is the kind of useless item that fits perfectly in that sort of situation. However, if you're looking for a truly useful organizer, spend a little more money for a Palm Z22-- or, better yet, buy any of a wide array of paper-based planners available here or elsewhere. As I said, paper doesn't quit because of weak batteries.

THE BEST PDA EVER!...well...next to the palm pdas.......2006-08-18

This thing is the closest thing you can get to a basic pocket pc. Pros:its got something like a 11mhz cpu.it can hold N E THING on note,todo and phone.

cons:alarm sound is SO WEAK my dog cant even hear it. the nav is akward i mean can they have done a normal up down left right gameboy style?.it needs to be reset every 5 secends.

I'm Very Happy With This Guitar, but..........2005-11-22

I bought my refurbished Yamaha from a different website. When I placed my order, I thought I was getting a brand new guitar. I paid $40 more than Amazon charged because I thought I was getting something brand new. A few days later I checked the website and saw a refurbished notation had been added to the description. Needless to say, I was very apprehensive about what might arrive.

The guitar arrived with a huge REFURBISHED sticker on the box. Sigh. But when I opened the box and took the guitar out of the case I couldn't believe my eyes.

The guitar was beautiful but not an EG-112. What I received was an EG-112C2 with a black metal flake body, black pick guard, and black headstock. What a surprise! And, yes, I did recieve all accessories.

If the guitar hadn't been all black and so cool looking, I would have returned it and bought one from Amazon for a $40 savings. I think I just lucked out in getting that model. Or they may have sent me this one because I called to complain about the change in the description... Who knows?

The biggest problem I had was with the strings. The strings it came with were only so so. When I was in the process of restringing it with D'Addario strings, I couldn't get two of the original strings off the guitar. The bottoms of the strings were really jammed in there. I took the guitar to a local music shop and had to have a bit of work done on it to get the strings out. It took two men to figure out how to remove them without damaging the the guitar.

I could only find a few very minor dings and scratches on the body. No big deal. You'd really have to be looking for them in direct light to see them.

After getting the string problem resolved I found that the guitar sounds and feels great. With new strings and a couple effects pedals, the sound I get from this guitar is outstanding.

In the end...I'm very happy with my Yamaha guitar. Even if there are minor problems that need repaired, you cannot beat the price for an HSS guitar of this quality.

Good But Needs Work.......2004-01-06

I got this guitar for my son as a Christmas present and found it has both good and bad points.

The good: Looks new, came with all parts, no scratches or rust. Everything works very well on the guitar with the exceptions noted below.

Excellent price for a beginner guitar.

The bad: Slight fret buzz (strings sometimes hit the frets up by the neck of the guitar), so the guitar will have to be adjusted to eliminate that. In my opinion, that adjustment should have been done before reselling it;

No manual of any sort included, and could not find one on the Yamaha site, so adjustment may be tricky;

Lastly, I agree with one of the other reviewers that the single box packaging is not enough protection for shipping this guitar.

Great for me!.......2003-12-31

Ordered mine a few days before Xmas with free shipping and received it on the 23rd, bravo Amazon! Unfortunatly I did not receive my Rogue 2x12" 100w $150 amp from MusiciansFriend.com until yesterday. The guitar looks brand new and came with everything it was supposed to come with. One of the pickups has a small amount of rust but it is barely noticable. All and all it was a great price for what I was looking for and I didn't have to spend extra money on the small amp I didn't need. Instead I got a much bigger amp for almost the same price as the kit!

It's not bad.......2003-12-25

After purchasing this guitar, I was warned to never buy a used guitar online, so I was pretty apprehensive in waiting for it to come. When it got here, it didn't seem that bad. I'm sorry for PH_7 who never got a cable. But mine came with a 9 foot cable, a set of allen keys and the Tremolo arm, which you screw onto the guitar. Although I was a little dissapointed in the guitar's body condition. By refurbished, I guess it means that they replaced certain parts. But my guitar had scratches on the frount, one of the pickup is rusty and the strings are a little old. But hey, it is a used guitar.
All in all, I'm pretty satisfied. I think it's a good guitar for a beginner who doesn't need a $700 fender to start on.

Not Truly Refurbished.......2003-12-23

The Yamaha 112 has an excellent reputation as a beginner's guitar, and I looked to Amazon to pick one up. Amazon sells the full 112 beginner's kit, which is essentially the guitar, gig bag, guitar cable, amp, and pitch pipe. I already have an amp and tuner, so this refurbished model fit the bill -- a guitar, gig bag and cable for a reasonable price. I know repairing/refurbishing guitars in not really rocket science, as every pawn shop and music exchange manager can attest. I assumed that Yamaha was refurbishing customer returns and selling them through Amazon. Naturally I expected that Yamaha and Amazon would do the job right.

Well, I'm sad to report that the job was not done right on the guitar I received. A new Yamaha 112 comes with a chrome tremolo. The Amazon listing for the refurbished 112 confirms that the guitar comes with a tremolo. The guitar I received had NO tremolo. Instead, the guitar has a hole where the tremolo belongs. Nice and classy, huh? How did this get through quality control? I can imagine some teenager broke the tremelo off the guitar, returned it, and Yamaha (through Amazon) shipped it right back out -- to me!

The promised guitar cable was also missing. Just a gig bag and guitar with a missing tremolo. Also, although the package seemed to arrive in good shape, I was surprised to find the guitar has shipped without any outer packaging around the original box. Just 1/8" of cardboard and a few styrofoam spacers between the guitar and the harsh world of a UPS trailer.

Caveat emptor. Refurbished is subjective, it seems. Maybe you'll be lucky, and get all the parts Amazon says you will receive. I was not so fortunate.

I have been using the Rio Central for a couple years and have had nothing but success with the system. It works great with my sterio system and produces top quality music. I would definitly recomment the Rio Central.

Nice simple device, but $1.5K for this? You can buy two or three nice, small-format computers, *with* the little LCD, that have much more advanced features like a DVD burner, not a CD burner, and gigabit or wireless ethernet, not a 56K modem, USB 2.0, firewire, more format compatibility, more control over output formats, the ability to output to a TV for games, movies, etc., the list goes on.

Rio is lucky I'm feeling generous. The one star is for being able to give it to me in one package. The pricing is atrocious though.

That's what everyone says when they see the box with the big blue screen in it. That's my music library I tell them and then I demonstrate by scrolling through the hundreds of albums it ripped the first day I got it. After about this point I'm uncertain as to whether I lose the person to the Oscilloscope visual that dances to the music or the magnitude of potential this device can have in their own home hi-fi.

It has a warehouse-size 40G computer hard-drive that will store right around 6K good quality tunes (160-192khz). You think 6K isn't allot? How many tracks are on the CD you're playing right now? Now do the math. If you still don't think thats allot, there are several documented procedures for upgrading to 120G.

Networking to your home computer is a bit tricky but can be done by anyone with a little know-how. Now you can get all those MP3s off your silly little Altec Lansings and onto your Pioneers for some real listening. If you can't network, the RADAC will take data CD-Rs as well.

The sound quality coming out of this device is better than most audio equipment these days. Which means they had the high-level audio connoisseur (tube amp, electrostatics, belt-drive turntable, etc.) in mind.

Not THAT into music? The convenience factor is super-high with this device. I've put all my CDs into the closet (for safe keeping -- I don't know) and just run the first thing that comes into my head. Graceland by Paul Simon? Sure... and it's playing.
Mixed the perfect driving music by mistake last night? The RADAC can burn you an audio CD for the commute before the coffee pot finishes.
What was that tune the wife was playing the other day? Search by tracks recently played. Forgot you had that album, didn't you?
Parties are a cakewalk. Create a custom play list where you pick all the tracks to be played or select several albums and randomize the tracks or whatever and just let it run. You're out of wine. Never out of music.
