I've used this drive for a year with no problems. I have not used the automatic backup feature so I can't comment on that. I have done only manual backups of pictures/videos/documents. The drive seems very sturdy and transfers files fairly rapidly. It just took about 14 minutes to transfer 10 GB of videos.

It doesnt work.......2006-10-14

I have only owned this item as for 6 months and it simply stopped working. This is supposed to be my backup and now it absolutely doesnt work. The company requires I pay to fedex it them to Thailand and will not recover the data for me. By the time I ship it and pay for data recovery, if it can be, I will have spent as much as I did on the drive in the first place. Buy from a better company.

An excellent, handy product.......2006-06-05

I have had this product for the past 3 months, and its performance is nothing below exceptional. I use it to regularly back-up my hard-drive. Though slightly heavy, it is easy portable between locations.

It was Excellent for exactly 13 months !!!.......2006-05-25

This drive worked like a charm for exactly 13 months.
I had no problems with this sturdy and silent drive for 13 months and enjoyed every moment with it.
But then yesterday, just out of the blue - this drive stopped working !!
It just went "BLANK" - this drive is getting powered up, the blue drive light comes on, but my laptop is not recognising it at all. It's like nothing is connected to my USB port.
I have tried several options including trying this out on another laptop, but no luck there also.
I had around 60 GB of data stored in it and now after one year of excellent service this has just died on me without any warning.
This is pathetic.
Now comes the dillema - which other drive should I go for - WD, Maxtor, Iomega, Seagate, Simpletech ??
I am sure all will work fine for some days or months or years, and then suddenly it will leave for its heavenly abode.
I just shudder to think how many people have lost all their data due to this sudden failure. Thats how this industry works, we cannot do anything for this.
I will just suggest that its better to periodically keep burning our important data to DVD so that one fine day we should not be shell shocked as I am today.

As for this drive, I would honestly suggest that stay away from this.

Not worth the box it came in.......2006-04-28

I bought this in order to back up my internal hard-drive and to store copious amounts of music and pictures. I was very happy with the "plug-and-play" ability of the unit, until a week later it would not power up. I tried for days and explored evry option until I realized that it was broken. I realized the futility of trying to deal with WD's customer service, as it was not their problem to recover my priceless data. One day, a miracle happened and it powered up, but the USB cable provided with the unit failed, thus no data transfer was possible until I procured such a cable. Of course, I had to leave the unit plugged in, because who knows if it would power up again? After the data transfer, I then did what I should have done upon receiving the package and the whole unit went in the garbage.
Don't bother....

Affordable and reliable........2007-05-30

For the price and performance, Verbatim products can seldom be beaten. Do not let the price tag fool you: there are DVD-Rs for sale at 15-20 cents each (these are 50 cents), but fail to deliver whereas these are flawless. 25 burns and 25 successes, all at 16x as advertised. I've ordered another couple of hundreds. Great performance! Highly recommended.

Verbatim DVD-R.......2007-05-07

This was my first experience with -R discs. Product produced no coasters for the whole 25 discs in the first spindle. My DVD burner did not want to burn them at anything above 4X, but I never go above 8X on Lightscribe discs anyway.

First Class Blanks.......2007-03-28

I use only class 1 blanks for archiving photos. Using the DVD Identifier software, these are the best disks. Many manufacturers make good disks but then get subcontractors to make runs for price competitive disks with their name. These disks are both price competitive and Class 1.

So far I've only been using it to record movies off the television and it's worked perfectly. I even recorded a pay per view and the quality was great. No coasters here! I'd reccomend these to anyone and I'll be back for more when I finish what I purchased.

These disks have worked well thus far. I have not had a problem with a single disk.

I've tried it all..........2005-02-18

...and this is the best media I have come across at the 16x speed. I have tried it on three brands of burners with only 1 failure out of 50 tries (and that one was likely as much my system's fault than the disk's fault). The three DVD Burners brands that I have used are Lite-on, Rosewill, and MicroAdvantage. They ARE buggy on certain Pioneer Burners, so you may want to avoid them if you are using a Pioneer.

With regard to high failure rates, before giving up, be sure to update the latest firmware on your burner, turn off any programs running during the burning stage, and make sure your power supply is sufficient (which can cause errors at higher speeds or the outside of the disk). If that doesn't work, you may want to try different software; when I did, my cheap DVD's went from jumping around to solid as a rock. If you still have high failure rates, it could be defective and subject to warranty. Otherwise, you may just have to stay away.

But, in my opinion, these are the most reliably produced disks out there, with Ridata coming in a close second.

No Problems at 16X so far.......2005-01-10

I bought a new 16X burner for my PC and have tried the 25pk Verbatim 4.7GB 16X DVD+R media on it. I have not had any failures so far burning at 16X and the playback has been fine. I have bought another 25pk of this media.

Excellent Choice.......2007-09-16

I purchased the Targus Wireless mouse when my Microsoft wireless no longer worked. I am very please with it. The range is far better than the MS mouse. It has an on/off switch on the bottom which saves the battery. If the battery needs to be charged, it comes with a USB cable so it can recharge and still be used at the same time. The receiver bends to 90 degrees (folds in half for storage) so there isn't a problem with it breaking if bumped. Overall, I plan on purchasing another for my desktop.

Do not buy this wireless mouse!.......2007-09-13

I had a Logitech wireless notebok mouse, but the receiver broke and I needed a new mouse quickly. I bought this thing - what a mistake! The connection between the mouse and the usb receiver constantly "breaks". I have to remove the receiver from my laptop, turn off the mouse (button on bottom is VERY tiny), and then re-connect the receiver, turn on the mouse again, and push the re-set button on both the receiver and then the mouse. SOMETIMES that works. Other times, I have to completely re-boot my laptop.

Also, I have gone through three sets of AAA batteries in three weeks.

I have rarely written a review on Amazon, but wanted to warn others about this particular item. I am typing this on my laptop and just tried to use the mouse (yes, I still have it - haven't had time to get a new one and sometimes it's still better than my efforts at using the touch pad), and I have to re-connect it again.

I wouldn't give this thing any stars, but you have to give at least one.
