I owned the Sony MDR-EX51LP earbuds before but always had problems with them popping out. Quite annoying, especially when watching dvds at the gym. These earbuds sound just as great but they don't budge in my ear. I'm very happy with them.

Okay I have had Sony buds before and liked the sound. For the price they have good sound. You have to get used the clip on the headphones which takes a bit of getting used to. How you place these in your ear will determine the sound you hear. With the clip it makes it slightly harder to gain that optimum sound you like. But all in all its not a bad for the price.

Fit for Purpose Earphones.......2007-08-24

The package I received appeared second hand not new. So, my first impression was not immediately positive. My first thought was to return them to Amazon. The carrying case is very cheap.

Sound quality for my taste is not that great compared to Apple's sold for about the same price from Amazon. But Apple's earphones always needed adjustment during my jog.

I would not pay the retail price of about $50 for this Sony product charged by major electronic stores.

The reason for three stars is because so far these earphones stay put while jogging. And the sound is okay. So it is basically fit for purpose in my case. Otherwise, my rating would be lower.

I don't get the reason for Sony using such a long wire and uneven extensions for these earphones. It gets in the way.

I plan to get my wear and tear money from this purchase, but I probably choose something else next time.

I've been purchasing from amazon for years but this is my first review. After reading all of the other reviews on this product I decided they would be the solution for running w/ my iPod as the stock apple earbuds just fall out. Well, these do not adjust in any way so you'd better hope your ears are the same shape and size as they'd designed these for. they're very uncomfortable and keep slipping.. plus the sound SUCKS. Other reviewers said the bass response was great. Bologna. sounds like crap. You have to shove these way way into your ear canal to get the bass but they don't stay put there and again more discomfort. I hate em. waste of money.

Over Rated, False Advertising, One Size Doesn't Fit All.......2007-08-28

I just purchased a pair of these at a local store for $50. I was hoping for an upgrade to the acoustics of a nice $8 pair of headphones that I've been using (JVC HA-E53). Unfortunately, the sound quality is worse than my $8 headphones. The Sony earphones do not work unless you push them into your ear canal. They shouldn't be called earphones or headphones. They are more like "inner ear audio devices" or something like that. Your ear canal becomes an essential part of the speaker enclosure. So, they must fit snugly or all you will hear are the high frequencies. Even if they fit snugly in your ear canal, the around the ear hangers are not adjustable. So, you must have precisely the right size ear or else the hanger will pull these out of your ear or they will be high above your ear (that was my problem). These earphones are rated by Sony as having an audible frequency response of 5-23,000 Hz. To my ear, this is simply not true. I made sure that I had pushed them all the way into my ear to ensure the best low frequency response possible. The low frequencies simply aren't fully there. I would have to say this is a case of false advertising on the part of Sony. My $8 pair of headphones provide fuller base response than these $50 Sony earphones. Because these earphones need to be inserted fully into your ear, you can't really hear anything around you while you have them in.

Quite the surprise.......2007-08-06

I hate ear buds. Not because of the sound but they absolutely wipe out my ears (meaning they hurt like hell). Over the years with my many Ipods come the supplied ear buds that not only sound like excrement, they hurt my ears after several minutes. I have tried others and they are equally painful. My son has a pair of the above earphones. I couldn't believe how comfortable, so quickly went the $33 route...cheap at half the price. They stay in, sound fine, and most important of all...after an hour or so, I am still not aware of their presence. I also have Sony street phones, which I enjoy but these are far more compact and unobtrusive. I am junking all those earphones that are in-between that are anchored by the ears (some, very time consuming to put on).
I am hard put to recommend any other product as a value for the bucks spent as I would this one.

Good News, Bad News.......2007-07-24

Well, I just ordered my third pair of these babies, and there's a confounding duality in that fact.

Fit (on a 6'5" guy's ear), comfort, sound and price are all very good. I ordered my first pair direct from Japan two or three years ago and loved them. This was back when they only came with the cloth case and the cord had an extension. Unfortunately, as has been reported in many of these reviews, the insulation deterioriated over time leaving exposed wires.

So in April 2007 I ordered another pair. This pair came with the hard case, no longer had the detachable extension and the quality of the insulation seemed much improved. Sadly, the sound quality took a noticeable step back. Though disappointed, I rationalized that the price was almost half of what I paid for my first pair. And it wasn't like they sounded bad...just not quite as exceptional.

Two weeks ago (early July), the level in the left ear piece took a nose dive. As I use these buds almost exclusively for working out, and because I sweat like Mike Vick at a PETA meeting, I figured some had gotten into the ear piece. So I devoted some time to trying to dry it out. No dice.

So here I am, only a few months after purchasing my second pair, buying a third.

Yes, I'm a bit peeved. But the functionality for the price has me willing to take one more shot. But this is definitely last call. If I don't get at least 18 mos. out of these, I'm moving on...

For people who talk on the phone for long stretches at a time, conversations can literally be a pain in the neck. The Plantronics A100 Practica headset allows you to make telephone calls hands-free, without the strain of having to balance the telephone between your neck and shoulders.

Setup was easy, only a matter of rearranging a few cords and installing batteries. First we plugged the cord from the telephone base into the amplifier unit. Next, we plugged the amplifier cord into the telephone jack and finally the headset cord into a second jack on the amplifier. The amplifier jacks are marked "headset" and "handset," making setup easy. The small, gray amplifier box fits nearly anywhere and features a mute button and handset/headset switch. A volume control on the side of the box adjusts the volume coming into the headset.

We found the A100 lightweight and comfortable. A cushioned earpad and high-quality boom mike adjust to fit over either ear. To use the A100, we slid the switch over to the headset function and lifted the handset from our telephone. While the owner's manual noted we should hear the numbers dialing in our headset, our test results differed. Using a basic touch-tone telephone, we were unable to dial a number through the headset. However, we had no problem connecting when dialing through the handset and then moving the switch over to headset mode. To disconnect, we simply returned the telephone handset to the cradle.

To answer an incoming call, we slid the switch to headset mode and lifted the handset on our telephone. Switching between handset and headset without disconnecting the call was easily done throughout our conversations. Battery Operated? Not Practical.......2002-02-26

Major complaint - this product should have an A/C adapter, but does not. It uses two AA batteries, which need to be replaced every two days. This is simply not a practical design. Since the sound quality is good with fresh batteries, I would stick with Plantronics, but I would go up the model line until I got one with a direct power source A/C adapter.

Not good for Call Center environments.......2001-08-16

The headset works fine, unless you're in a call center or other such environment where you have other people "feeding" you information on what to say while on the telephone.

I was on with a client who decided to ask some difficult questions. My supervisor happened to be monitoring the conversation and proceeded to "feed" me what to say to handle these questions. It turns out that the client has heard EVERYTHING that my supervisor was saying. Of course, I lost the deal. I come to find out later that this headset (as is the case with most cheaper headsets) will allow ALL communication through to ALL of the parties involved.

So if you're in a situation where people MAY feed you information while you're on the phone, DO NOT BUY THIS HEADSET or other cheap versions. Other than this incident, it works fine -- good quality sound etc...

Good set for the price.......2001-06-17

Overall for not having to buy an amplifier, this set works really good. After seeing mine, our clerk bought one too. Our office has a cheap AT&T multi-line phone system. I bought two others before I found this one that works. At one point,I thought I had a problem with the microphone but I just needed to change the batteries. I did find this product for a cheaper price at another site, but I trust buying from Amazon. They are accurate, and prompt.

Short-stemmed Microphone Is Frustrating to Use.......2000-11-07

I am disappointed in this product's performance because I cannot easily use the microphone to modulate my speaking voice. While the microphone's stem is flexible, it is too short to be positioned optimally. As a result, the microphone remains somewhere to the left of my speaking voice. Some callers have told me that my voice seems "far away." When I bend the stem to get closer to the microphone, the arm is long enough to catch one side of my mouth but too short to be positioned an inch or so directly in front of me. I often resort to switching from the headset to the handheld telephone midway through a conversation.
