Good sound, tight fitting.......2007-09-23
I have to say that these headphones are built to be very tight around your head. That being said, it is not extremely uncomfortable because the ear cushion is thick and soft. It does not cover your entire ear so I had to get used to the cushion just pressing against my ear. For the price you pay for these headphones, you really get a pretty decent quailty of sound. I'm not a sound guru, but I can honestly say these do not have tin sound nor do they have ridiculous fake bass output. Although, I could use just a bit more bass from this headphone (I'm a fan for heavy bass). The cord is about 6 feet in length and it is very thick. If the cord was thinner and shorter, I would say these could be used conveniently for a workout. It works for me while I'm listening to music at work and I might try to take this when I go jogging, but the cord is really pretty thick so it might get in the way while I'm in motion. After I have worn this for a while I believe that I can wear this for several hours (at work) without feeling any uncomfortness. If you want, you can even set to just have one ear listening to the music and the other ear open when you have to talk to your coworkers, the head piece is snug enough that it will hold on easily. This headphone is not for high performance, but it is definitely gear highly for convenience in a general environment. :-)

Worst headphones I have ever used bar none.......2007-08-20
As a preface, let me say that my first headphones was the Philips HL150 that I bought from some store I can't even remember anymore. Being my first headphones, I had nothing to compare them to, and had thought they were great.
Now then, as for the Sony MDR-V150. I had bought this monstrosity at a K-Mart for $20. I can safely say that my money would have been better spent if I had paid a hobo to drill into my teeth with a sharp rock. I'm not an audiophile myself, but I often hear audiophiles say that this particular headphone (MDR-V150) was worth less than dirt. Of course, I didn't pay them any mind because audiophiles often seem to hear things no one else hears, and they often judge consumer-level headphones unrealistically harsh. However, for this case, they are 100% correct.
To start off, I want to go on a massive tangent about how this headphones has the worst sound I ever heard in my entire life. It doesn't matter how you usually listen to audio, whether it be through your desktop speakers, laptop speakers, or that $5 radio you found in the trash with a half-broken headphone, the MDR-V150 is worse than it. What is the problem? One word: bass.
I have never heard such muddled bass in my entire life. I have listen to several genres of music (Classical, rock, metal, country, etc) with this headphone and there wasn't a single song I listened to which wasn't worst off because of it. In every single song, the bass was such prevalent force that everything else is drowned out. In some cases, you can't even hear the other instruments while, in almost all cases, the vocals are completely drowned out.
Using Winamp, I was forced to literally turned all the settings for bass down while all the settings for treble up. ONLY then was I finally able to hear the vocals, but of course, the sound was still horrible.
Now, one would think that such a headphone would be good for rap music or any other form of music dependent on bass. Not the case. As a matter of fact, it's even worse! Due to the prevalence of bass already in these genres of music, the muddled bass that the MDR-V150 does just makes it that much worse. In one of the rap songs I listened to, I actually couldn't hear anything other than bass and a quiet voice trying to break through to me.
Now then, as if the sound wasn't bad enough by itself, there's the issue of how tight this thing is. I can't stress this enough; this bad boy (and I do mean bad) is TIGHT! Not only am I unable to listen to music for more than 30 minutes, but once I take off the headphones, I discover red marks around my ears. This is made all that much worse due to the fact that I wear glasses.
Of course, this could have been circumvented if the headphones had simply been made to cover your ears rather than, oh say, press against it like a vice grip. However, that would have taken at least elementary testing of this device to discover, which Sony obviously did not do as proven by the fact that this thing is on the market at all.
After about a week of painful ears and muddled bass, I finally couldn't take the torture anymore, and threw the headphones on my couch. Later on, I bought a Coby CV320 for $20; It was a far superior purchase. As for the Sony MDR-V150? My nephew eventually asked for it and I gave it to him. I regret it now and wished I hadn't. My poor nephew doesn't deserve such punishment. Luckily, he lost it. And may the thing burn in hell!
Good sound quality, good price, and comfortable.......2007-08-15
Unlike other headphones of this type, this is one that doesn't squish my ears. I've owned about four other pairs of headphones like this one that feature cushions around the speakers and within minutes of wearing them, my ears hurt and it wasn't from the sound.. These head phones don't do that.
Also, if you're gonna be doing something like connecting them to a computer or a keyboard, the long cord works great. The long cord isn't so great for if you want to connect the headphones to the ipod in your pocket.
I like to the use these on my computer and on my keyboard and the nicest thing is, I can. The large jack adapter will fit into, dare I say, all keyboards, control stations, and electric pianos and it can be painlessly removed to be just as painlessly plugged into an mp3 player or computer.

Before reluctantly buying these headphones so as to not wake up my roommate during late-night frag sessions, I had always used my built in laptop speakers. Wow what a difference! These headphones really hit the bass but don't do too well on the high notes. You can also bring them pretty darn loud (loud enough that I've never had the nerve to put them on at max). However I like to absently chew on the headphone cable while I work and I damaged the wires.. they were unfixable.

Getting Good Scans.......2004-08-02
I recently got my DocuPen. I was extremely impressed with it. It clearly outshines any of those line-by-line scanners such as Wizcom, C-Pen, etc.
The technology is simply mind boggling, the way they cram all that impressive technology into one small pen-shaped like device.
I was impressed with the scan quality of the device as well, considering that its a small pen-shaped device. The sample scans on the DocuPen homepage is truly an indication of the quality of an attainable scan. I scan mostly documents, bank statements, deeds, receipts etc. In fact all of those scans of those documents all turned out good, as good as the quality indicated on the site.
As for the OCR feature, the OCR was decent. OCR basically onverts your text based document scans into editable text, but then again OCR was never a good or perfect technology. In fact the DocuPen never really promoted the OCR feature from my recollection. I have a high-res flatbed scanner, and when I used the OCR feature, I still get errors from the conversion and that's from a hi-res flatbed scanner.
I love how light weight it is and how portable it is. Truly a tool for road warriors.
I am also looking out for Planon's future DocuPen version which I hear is sometime soon.
Very hard to use; terrible OCR capability.......2004-07-30
I was really looking forward to getting my Docupen. I sold my Wizcom Quicklink in anticipation. What a disappoinment. If this product worked well it would be fantastic. The size and weight is really great.
Main problem is that it is really hard to get decent scans. After a few hours I was getting about 1 in 3 usable (with 2 out of 3 failing before the page was done). The problem appears to be getting the rollers to turn consistently. They are quite stiff, and the moment they stop turning - which can easily happen - the scanner assumes the page is done. There is no way to delete the last scan using the device itself; you have to attach it to the PC for that. So even though you know you've just done a bad scan which is eating up the memory, you can't delete it. Presumably with time scanning would get easier, but this inability to delete a known bad last scan seems a serious shortcoming to me given how many scans end up being bad.
Even if you get a "good" scan (which with this device at 200dpi b/w is far from great), the OCR software (PaperPort) is appalling. It is totally incapable of making sense of multi-column text like magazines, it seems, and repeated everything several times in one big mess. In frustration I installed an old copy of OmniPage Pro, which despite being about 4 or more years old, did a much better (but still not satisfactory) job. As I want this scanner almost entirely for OCR applications, it fails to meet my needs and it is going to be returned.
Scanning Needs Satisfied.......2004-06-19
The DocuPen has been very effecient tool for me. I scan lots of receipts and forms and various other financial documents, something that is important to me at times is capturing signatures, which the DocuPen is capable of.
I have used up the one set of batteries already and basically I scanned up to 220 pages which is 20 more pages than what the manual recommends.
The time wasted on driving around to find a photocopying machine or flatbed scanner and actually doing the photocopy can now be eliminated with the DocuPen. Just take the DocuPen and capture your required document on the spot.
Also getting the scanning technique down was not hard at all, as I got the technique down after 5 trial scans on a regular Word file print out. What I like about the DocuPen is that we are actually a part of the scanning mechanism, a really cool idea & concept.
This product works great for Me.......2004-06-19
I recently purchased the DocuPen and the product has been fine for me. It connected perfectly fine with Windows XP and to my other computer systems such as Win 98 and Win 2000.
For some people I know that if a product does not work, it may be in part due to something in the computer system itself. Take a look into the system first to see if its compatible with the product, because the product worked wonders for me.
The DocuPen literally took me like 3 scans to get the technique down. And I get very legible scans.
It seems that many expect pure carbon copy duplicates, but that's not really the concept behind the DocuPen, because I really see it as a tool to scan documents and other materials for reference that does not need to be super high quality. If need be, then use a high resolution flatbed scanner. The key difference is in the fact that it is totally portable, something that a flatbed scanner is not.
The free software is also amazing, its called PaperPort from ScanSoft that integrates with various programs from my computer like Outlook, Word, etc...I am also impressed with the OCR feature within PaperPort because it does a very good translation of scanned text image into editable text.
By the way, the technical support staff is superb in assisting with technical needs, because I only had a slight issue but was resolved immediately.
Only Connect - Not a Chance.......2004-06-11
I bought this product with very high expectations. Silly me. No matter how many tries, no matter how much advice and valiant effort from technical support, no matter how many work arounds attempted, my computer and the scanner could not connect; i.e. the USB connection did not work. Shortly after I finally gave up, I installed a new digital camera, also calling for an USB connection (natch) with no problems at all. My suspicion is that the scanner is not at all comfortable with XP, which is on my system. But whatever the reason, the scanner failed to install, I returned the product for a credit, and commented to the technical support that "It simply shouldn't be this hard."

Good To A Point.......2006-06-22
Like Maxell UR, this tape is a good general recording tape. It is intended for general voice and music recordings. Like Maxell UR, you can get away with recording cds if the music is not so intense. (Interestingly, if the cds are not so over the top, they may not require a high bias cro2 cassette. Some of my cds transferred quite nicely onto normal bias cassettes.) However, like Maxell UR and Sony HF, the TDK D will not suffice for recording cds that have high intensity. If you are looking to record from Exodus, King Diamond, or 80s groups that didn't sell out, you need to look towards Maxell XL II or TDK SA.
