Uniden's DCT 648-3 comes with a number of useful features, including two extra handsets with their own charging cradles, expandability (one additional DCX640, sold separately), and an all-digital answering machine. Caller ID/call waiting compatible, the DCT 648-3 can store up to 100 incoming numbers, while the display-and-dial feature lets you easily scroll through the list of calls and dial with the touch of a button. An autoscan feature automatically detects the best channel available, and handset and ringer volume controls allow you to easily adjust the phone's settings to your liking.
The DCT 648-3 is headset compatible (a belt clip is provided for hands-free operation), while a room/baby monitoring setting lets you hear audio from another handset location. Voice prompts help guide you through setup, while play/stop, skip, delete, and repeat keys help you navigate through your messages. A memo record feature is provided, and the conversation record feature lets you record important conversations or information such as driving directions.
Twenty distinctive ringer options are provided, and a visual voicemail indicator on the base lets you know when you have message waiting. Wall mountable, the DCT 648-3 also comes with both a handset and base speakerphone. It is backed by a one-year warranty on both parts and labor.

I got these for family and haven't seen them work yet because I was going to give them the digital frames for Christmas. The shipping was estimated to get here on October 5th but got here September 21st!!!
More than what I was looking for!.......2007-09-01
I bought these recently, after my three year old Panasonic died. We use Vonage, and I answer customer service calls from my home, so I needed multiple handsets with good sound quality. We got so much more! We love having one on each of our floors. The base is in the basement, the third handset in the bedroom on the top floor, and there are no dead spots or sound fading, like we had with the old one. I love that the phones are intercoms--works wonderfully with my kids in the basement instead of them yelling up the stairs. I can also listen in on what they are doing, two floors up, so I know they aren't getting into trouble. The handsets are small, but fit nicely into my hand and aren't a problem. I use my headset with them for work and have had no trouble. The batteries came partly charged and charged easily, and seem to hold a charge pretty well. I also love the unique ring feature--now I know without checking caller id if its an important call (meaning a family member) or one I can get to later. Really a great phone set for the price!
Reliable.......2007-08-16
We switched to VOIP almost a year ago, and, as per the reviews we could find, this seemed like the most reliable phone system. We've had no problems so far, and the price, though not the lowest, is very reasonable.
One caveat--if there's a way to access the answering machine from any location, we haven't figured it out yet. And if not, that can be one of the next things Uniden works on.
Garbage, cheap, plastic garbage. Replaced 3 times!!!.......2007-07-15
This is the worst set of phones I ever owned. I had to ship three phones back to the warranty repair (at my cost). The phones will soon be out of warranty. I suppose that is why they give you a set of 4 phones. By the end of the year, you might have one left working. So, if you are interested in having 4 working phones, you better buy 12 of them!! Save your money. Buy Vtech instead.
Feature Rich!!.......2007-07-06
I bought this set for two friends over the holidays and they love them! I've used theirs many times and was impressed so I bought a set for myself. I have recommended it to many other friends since then. The amount of features in this set go on and on. Besides being a cordless phone it can also be used as a Room/Baby monitor as well as two-way radios away from home. You can also use the handsets as an intercom system in your home or to transfer the phone call between handsets. Most options are programable from any handset and you can listen/clear your messages from any handset. You can also copy your phonebook between handsets. And a handy little feature when you want to be left alone... one touch "Do Not Disturb" that will prevent any handset from ringing with an incoming call. This is just a few of the things that impressed me. The only thing that I noticed that may be a problem is that sometimes the caller sounds a little muffled. I'm not sure if that is a problem with this phone system or not tho.

For everyone who has this phone and was having trouble with adding the area code - I found the solution. When your looking at your caller id and it's a long distance number you can hit the # button to add the area code (if it isn't there already) and you can add the "1" before the area code and number by hitting *(tone) *woohoo* no more editing and redoing all the numbers before you add them to caller id!

this small size home phones works great, are good looking a has all the features you need, dont hesitate in purchasing. Not a good thing is the range!!
Very Disapointed!.......2007-03-19
We got this phone a couple of months ago and are still not able to use it at all. Originally, we could not hear anything from this phone at all. Now only faint voice can be heard, but the only end still has no sound at all.
I spend hours reading the manual, but still can not make it work for us. Maybe it is a malfunctioning one. I would definitly NOT buy any Uniden products in the future.
Does not stand the test of time.......2007-03-02
When we first received these phones they were pretty good - the range is short but we could deal with that. After a few weeks the sound quality started to really decline (echos, breaking up, and static.). After 8 months the caller ID does not function on one handset and the sound quality on the other handset is so bad as to make it unusable.
The small size at first was cute but after awhile is very annoying and uncomfortable. I just ordered a panasonic set and can't wait to trash this set. I have been a loyal fan of uniden for many years but this product has shaken my confidence in there recent quality or lack there of.
Great Cordless with great features.......2007-02-06
This is a really good phone! Love the size and the handsfree features on each phone AND the base. Our last phone did not have that feature on the base and if the phone rang and we could not locate the handsets we could not answer the phone. Now we can! The reception is great and the volume features are easy to operate. We also got a killer price and prompt delivery. We are happy customers!

Outstanding sound quality.......2007-08-29
I've been using this phone for a few weeks, and the sound quality (speaker and receiver) is excellent. The phone doesn't have a lot of bells & whistles - basic speed dialing, caller ID, conferencing capability. The speaker phone is outstanding for a desktop phone - I've tried lots of the "consumer" brands and none of them had a speaker phone that was even mediocre. I also like the voice mail indicator, if you use the phone company's voice mail feature.
Bottom line: good basic two-line phone with an excellent speaker phone.
Help for a hearing impaired home-office user........2007-06-12
After several disappointing hearing assisted and speakerphones results for a home office needing two lines, the Polycom SE-220 speaker phone has ended our search. The user can not only hear and be heard, but with a hands free bonus. Single user operation does not need the multiple microphones of higher priced Polycom business conferencing products. Based on previous reviews, both the power and phone lines are surge protected and we have had no problems from occasional fluctuations experinced here. Works for us!
Disappointing product from the polycom brand.......2007-05-19
Having been a long time user of Polycom's higher-end conference room phones, I purchased this lower-end office phone with confidence. Unfortunately, this product hasn't lived up to my expectations of quality.
Specific complaints: The speakerphone experience is relatively low quality compared to the higher end polycom phones, both in terms of speaker quality and microphone pickup. The microphone is particularly bad with multiple local participants in the room (something noted by Polycom in the documentation). Worst of all, the speakerphone has a *terrible* audible interference problem with my GSM based Blackberry -- even if the phone is not in use! -- requiring me to sit the phone on the other side of the office. The GSM buzzing interference is worse than any other electronics product I've ever used including low-grade computer speakers. Also, the clock can't keep time -- drifts by about 10 minutes a week.
I'm a fan of Polycom in general, but in this case learned that it's probably worth spending the extra dollars on one of the higher-end models.

Overall everthing i expected - tremendous quality of speakerphone lets confrence calls pass at great clip. Only changes i would make are the screen should be backlight and the menu is clunky to quickly get to missed calls and then a quick callback
A Godsend for my dad.......2007-03-16
I bought this phone for my dad because he has horrible hearing and has never been able to really talk much on the phone (the receiver gives his hearing aids terrible feedback). Additionally, most speakerphones mute the other party when one or the other is talking, so you really can't have a true interactive conversation like we are used to doing on the receiver. This speakerphone made it possible for my dad to talk to his friends and family that can't come to visit in person. I live 6 hours from him, and all we used to be able to do is email, but now we can enjoy conversations again. I can't say enough good things about this phone.
