Uniden's DCT 648-2 comes with a number of useful features, including an extra handset with charging cradle, expandability (one or two additional model DCX640, sold separately), and an all digital answering machine. Ideal for any large home, this stylish phone set allows you to place handsets in multiple locations so you never miss a call.
Caller ID/call waiting compatible, the DCT 648-2 can store up to 100 calls, while the display-and-dial feature lets you easily scroll through the list of calls and dial with the touch of a button. An auto-scan feature automatically detects the best channel available, while handset and ringer volume controls allow you to easily adjust the phone's settings to your liking.
The DCT 648-2 is headset compatible (a belt clip is provided for hands-free operation), while a room/baby monitoring setting lets you hear audio from another handset location. A redial button lets you easily call one of the last three outgoing numbers, while both tone and pulse dialing modes are provided in case you need to switch to one or the other.

For everyone who has this phone and was having trouble with adding the area code - I found the solution. When your looking at your caller id and it's a long distance number you can hit the # button to add the area code (if it isn't there already) and you can add the "1" before the area code and number by hitting *(tone) *woohoo* no more editing and redoing all the numbers before you add them to caller id!

Very Disapointed!.......2007-03-19
We got this phone a couple of months ago and are still not able to use it at all. Originally, we could not hear anything from this phone at all. Now only faint voice can be heard, but the only end still has no sound at all.
I spend hours reading the manual, but still can not make it work for us. Maybe it is a malfunctioning one. I would definitly NOT buy any Uniden products in the future.
Does not stand the test of time.......2007-03-02
When we first received these phones they were pretty good - the range is short but we could deal with that. After a few weeks the sound quality started to really decline (echos, breaking up, and static.). After 8 months the caller ID does not function on one handset and the sound quality on the other handset is so bad as to make it unusable.
The small size at first was cute but after awhile is very annoying and uncomfortable. I just ordered a panasonic set and can't wait to trash this set. I have been a loyal fan of uniden for many years but this product has shaken my confidence in there recent quality or lack there of.
Great Cordless with great features.......2007-02-06
This is a really good phone! Love the size and the handsfree features on each phone AND the base. Our last phone did not have that feature on the base and if the phone rang and we could not locate the handsets we could not answer the phone. Now we can! The reception is great and the volume features are easy to operate. We also got a killer price and prompt delivery. We are happy customers!

Not worth it.......2007-09-19
I bought these because I was looking for something I could use while jogging. These are not good for jogging. They get really uncomfortable to wear after about 30 minutes. Also the cord is way too long. I had to loop it several times so that it wasn't hanging ridiculously low. I thought perhaps if I used them when I wasn't jogging that they wouldn't be so uncomfortable. But I find that even when I am just sitting on the sofa with these on that my ears get tired from the weight within about 30 minutes. They sound ok (decent amount of bass), but since I can only wear them for about 30 minutes before they get uncomfortable, I don't find them worth owning. The Sony MDR-J10 h.ear Headphones with Non-Slip Design (Black) are way better for jogging and cost half the price. For inexpensive general use I'll stick with my V-MODA Bass Freq Earbuds - Bling Bling Black.
Delivers the best for it's price (even beyond its price).......2007-09-11
I bought these back when cd players were still cool. I had just bought my awesome sony discman that played mp3s and thought nothing could get better than a CD PLAYER THAT PLAYED MP3S! Boy I was wrong :)
But onto the headphones. They've lasted me all this time and I love them. I've bought all types of headphones from pricey Sennheiser's to Sony's really affordable h.ear over the ear clips. These headphones have been my favorite because they are so incredibly durable (I mean, they have lasted this WHOLE time). The sound on them is terrific. Using a normal setting on whatever is playing your music will give you the most balanced sound I have ever heard. Some headphones these days boast having a really deep bass, but that's all some of them have and nothing else. A pair of good headphones for me at least will deliver all parts of a song and that's what these headphones do. Not only that, they can HANDLE the bass if you turn it up on you equalizer or whatever your player uses to turn up the bass. That's the important part especially if you're a bass freak like me. No other headphones I've tried at least has delivered voices as crisp and clear as these headphones--not even those pricey Sennheisers.
The best thing I can say about these headphones is that the sound is incredibly balanced and it can handle more bass/treble if you want it. The only con would be that the back that swoops behind your neck is a little big. My head is not small... I would say it's average and I think it's designed a little too big. Working out with them or any headphones designed like this is probably a bad idea since the heat will be trapped near your ears... which is not good for your head :). BUT, I've done it before and they've worked fine.
Actively uncomfortable on my head.......2007-06-27
I bought these and the Sennheiser PMX60 Headphones at the same time for comparison. The sound was equivalent as far as I could tell, but the Sony headphones were really extremely uncomfortable in comparison. The Sennheisers only press slightly at the top of each ear, rather than making me feel like my head is in a vise.

these are cool looking headphones and really grap your ears well !! Comfortable too ! sound quality is very good, deep bass , clear sound and no noise with high volumes!! RECOMMENDED !!
Success where others have failed.......2007-05-31
The first and foremost thing I have to say about these headphones is that Sony stepped back and re-thought street-style design entirely. Most of the other headphones of this style that you'll find have the "little clip thingy", the part that pushes down on the back of your ear. Everybody complains about it and some people just rip it out. With these headphones you don't have to worry about pulling anything uncomfortable off because there's nothing uncomfortable about them! I suppose your ears might ache a bit after prolonged use from the pads pushing your ears slightly, but that's expected with pretty much any headphone. The neckband is quite lightweight and flexible, accomidating a wide range of head sizes and reducing risk of breaking when put into a backpack.
I upgraded to these from earbuds and found the improved sound quality satisfying. It's one of those cases where I can hear parts of songs that I never heard before.
The cord length is long enough and, in my opinion, not too long such that it gets in the way. Also they're relatively cheap. An over-all good buy!
