Product Description
Sony Corporation is proud to introduce its WM-FX195 - Walkman AM/FM Stereo Cassette Player. AM/FM stereo tuner lets you listen to a wide variety of radio music and talk programs through your Walkman STEREO. Stereo Cassette Playback lets you enjoy your own tapes as well as prerecorded cassettes with the added enjoyment of stereo sound. Sony's Mega Bass Sound System produces deeper, richer bass tones for more pleasing overall sound. Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS) automatically adjusts music passages that vary widely, for improved listener comfort and clear sound. High Performance Fontopia Headphones with remote control provide wide dynamic range with excellent sound. Compact Design offers high performance while still being easy to carry and grip.
Amazon.com Product Description
Sony's slim-design WM-FX195 stereo cassette player is portable enough--and, at under half a pound with batteries--light enough to go anywhere you do. In addition to playing tapes, the Walkman offers FM stereo and wideband AM radio reception. An anti-rolling mechanism maintains low wow and flutter by steadying the tape when you're running or walking, and an FM local/distant (DX) switch improves reception of fuzzy stations.
The player's automatic volume limiter system (AVLS) maintains an even volume level, guarding against unintended level increases and evening the output of musical passages that vary widely in level. A switch adjusts the sound to accommodate metal-oxide tapes, and Mega Bass produces deep, rich bass tones.
Automatic shut-off (in playback mode) extends battery life and helps prevent both mechanical and tape wear by turning off unit at the end of each tape side. Finally, an anti-rolling mechanism maintains stable tape speed to minimize music-distorting "wow and flutter" while the player is in motion.
Supplied MDR-026 over-ear headphones offer wide dynamic range and clear sound, and the unit also comes with a belt clip. Two AA batteries provide up to 25 hours of continuous tape playback (maximum, using Sony Alkaline batteries), or up to 55 hours of FM radio reception. And in case you don't keep count of the hours, a handy LED battery indicator warns you when it's time to switch.
What's in the Box
Cassette player, headphones, belt clip, and a user's manual.
Customer Reviews:
Sony adds a lot of value to a simple radio/cassette.......2004-04-01
I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this walkman. I tend to be hard on this type of device -- going thru one every two years. I got sick of paying $30+ for this type of product so I started buying ultra cheap $10 brands. The sound quality was adequate for my needs. I listen to mostly educational tapes while riding my bike -- alternating with radio and sometimes music tapes. When I saw that for $10 more I could own a Sony i decided to give it a try. The extra $10 was worth it and I guess pays for the headphones. They produce great quality sound. The unit is well thought out in terms of design, switches etc. And I like the slimmer casing. I long for casings of yesteryear that were much better quality but it is on par with the models of today. I like the limit switch which prevents you from jacking up the sound to levels that damage hearing. It's easy to do with headphones. A word of warning to young people out there -- do that enough and you will be hard of hearing. I've experienced hearing loss from loud rock music and playing electric guitar. The first station I happened to listen to was classical and I could not believe how clear and full the sound was. A keeper. I notice early users from prior years did not like this model. They must have upgraded since then. (...)I was one of the first users of the original Sony walkman's in the early 80s and Sony continues a great tradition and I'm glad I decided to own one again.
Walkman tradition continued in FX195.......2003-02-07
Trendy style, quality construction, good sound. Phone jack and volume control are well spaced. All switches are well placed. The battery light is very useful; it tells power is ON or OFF. Even though it's an inexpensive model, it carries Sony's original Walkman quality in every respect. Sound quality is also great. No motor vibration is detected in sound. Radio portion is also good. The only down side in this model is no auto-reverse. Highly recommended.
a mediocare cassette player.......2002-04-29
I bought this a while ago, and i lost it a few weeks later problay because i didnt like it. The tuning scale is very hard to use and is not accruate at all. The tape quality is poor, and the tape head gets dirty very fast, for some reason or another. The radio quality is farily good once you master the impossible task of tuning the thing. The battery light is next to useless, and the whole tape player just isnt that good.
I have bought a lot of Sony products, and i figured out that if you want the qualtity ones, get the shiny ones.
Disappointed.......2001-08-26
I purchased this because it was a Sony thinking it would be able to take the beating I would give it trying to listen to tapes while weeding strawberries several hours a day. It worked fine the first month or so and then the sound began to distort like it wasn't getting enough power. Even with a change of batteries it did the same thing. It is comfortable to wear but the headset would slip a lot while I was bending over so had to wear a hat to hold it in place. I listen to books on tape so sound quality isn't a priority but being able to understand the words is! I'm now looking for a replacement which will meet my needs.
Disappointing Sound Quality.......2001-06-23
I purchased this item in hopes of finding a good replacement to my old Emerson cassette/radio. I was very disappointed with this product. The sound quality when playing tapes is terrible. The mega bass feature is useless, there is actually more bass without it on at high volumes! Also there was a lot more fuzziness that I heard with this walkman when playing tapes. The radio portion works okay, but if you want to be able to turn the volume on your music up loud without distortion, dont buy this product.

Teds Review.......2007-07-13
The Lens is as one would expect from Nikon I would say that it would be hard to find a product that is similar to the the one being reviewed that could compare.
Awesome.......2007-06-17
I own a beleaguerded Kodak 14n SLR. Besides tack-sharp, bone tingling, full frame 14 megapixels perfect images at 80 ASA, it has so many quirks and peculiarities, it pretty much singlehandedly made Kodak abandon making professional SLRs. But this lens solved two problems; red blob went away, and so did Italian flag (K-pro owners will know what I'm talking about). And on other Nikon cameras it's just great, sharp lens, although not enough of wide angle on APS-sized-frame Nikons (24mm becomes 36mm) - but on the other hand 85mm becomes almost 130mm, totally awesome for portraits. Too bad it's discontinued, or so I heard.
Nikon 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED-IF AF Zoom Nikkor Lens.......2007-01-09
Very pleased that I received exactly what I ordered with full warranty, not a Gray market item. The lens is a great compliment to my Nikon SLR; focus is quick, quiet and sharp. Highly recommend. Price was great.
Veteran Photo Who Loves This Lens.......2006-12-24
I, like the the previous reviewer, also read Ken Rockwell's comments, and they led me to this lens.
No disappointments here. I'm a 30-year veteran who was just seeking a basic lens to keep on my Nikon D70. I also use the Tokina 12-24 f/4.0 (fantastic) and the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 (don't sell this little guy short!), and now seek a longer tele-zoom to complement these other lenses.
The Nikon 24-85mm is sharp, fast and light. Not the most sturdily-built lens in the world, but the key for me was that I knew what I was getting when I purchased it - and therefore, no disappointment.
Looking for an all-purpose lens to keep on your camera body at all times? You've found it here.
Surprisingly Great Lens.......2005-12-24
This lens is probably the best lens I own. It focuses fast and it is very sharp.
Even professional photographers say that it is one of the best lenses and reasonably priced.
Ken Rockwell wrote, "This is a tiny, fun and easy-to-use cheesy plastic zoom lens that is also the best performing midrange zoom I've ever used!" See his webpage here:
http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/2485afs.htm
Thom Hogan wrote, "I was prepared to be disappointed with this lens. Instead, I've decided to keep in my bag and use it regularly." See his webpage here:
http://www.bythom.com/2485lens.htm
After reading all the reviews I could find, I decided this lens had to be worth a serious look. I bought it and have been happy with it from day one.

Customer Reviews:
Great Little Printing Machine.......2004-02-25
I bought the Sony Digital Photo Printer (DPP-SV77) about a year ago with the intention of using it for all my
photo printing. It is easy to use, compact, and fits anywhere. It produces a great looking photo. The photos that measure 4 by 6 inches are perfect for printing postcards or borderless prints.
Negatives: It prints too slow, and it's hard to find the glossy sheets of printing paper/print cartridge packets
that are much too expensive. I'm wondering if they are becoming obsolete??
This makes nice quick photos, but for enlargements and other custom work, this will not be the one to use.
I give this product 4 stars, deducting one star because of the negatives.
worth the money if you don't want to mess with a PC.......2003-03-09
We bought the DPP-SV77 because we recently had twins and wanted to make photos available immediately for friends and family. Our printer for our PC just wasn't up to the job. This printer has some legitimate problems but does a credible job if you don't mind some oversaturation on your color prints. The machine tends to put way too much red in photographs especially caucasian skin tones. Where the machine really shines is the black and white mode. Beautiful pictures! Great contrast, and an accurate grey scale. I also really like the ability to make wallet size prints. The manual is pretty exhaustive, to be honest I never read it. We use a sony digital camera with memory stick so compatibility is smooth and effortless. The controls are very intuitive and I found that while the flip up monitor wasn't terribly bright and often misleading (some menus are difficult to read, the colors on the monitor don't reflect your end result) it was still nice not needing to be hooked up to a PC. Overall, it was worth the money for us, it does what we wanted it to do. However, because of the color "problem" and the fact that there is a finite size you can make a print (4 X 6) if I take some really good color pictures that I want to blow up or frame I'll be taking my business to a professional printer.
Glorious prints, implementation a bit clunky.......2002-12-16
I bought the DPP-SV77 because I wanted a way to take my digicam media (CompactFlash) directly from the camera and make prints without using a PC. While the DPP can be connected to a computer, the built-in LCD makes this really unnecessary.
Overall, I really like the printer, and will use it a lot to run out copies from my digicam. High points are of course print quality (which while somewhat oversaturated is definitely pleasing) and ease of use.
I found the passive-matrix LCD screen less than great; it has a slow refresh time and isn't optimal for evaluating the exposure quality of a photo. For this reason, I consider the built-in image editing tools a waste of time (and expensive paper); better to get the exposure right using your PC's image editing software.
The printing process also "feels" a bit rickety; the paper goes through four cycles (yellow, magenta, cyan, and an overcoat) and pokes out of the front and back of the printer each time; be careful not to touch it before the print is done. And there are various grinding and clicking noises during the (roughly 2 minute) print cycle that seem at odds with a modern electronic product (inkjets and laser are much quieter).
Nevertheless, the output looks great. You can print either glossy or textured prints, and the borderless option is indistinguishable from a processed film print you'd get at Wal-mart (except that the DPP output will probably be sharper and have better color).
I use a four megapixel camera at full resolution with this printer (roughly matching its maximum 2418x1612 resolution). I did note that the 4x6 aspect ratio (1:1.5) was somewhat longer and narrower than the photos I had taken (1:1.33), and the top and bottom of the picture were cut off upon output. Watch for this, as no warning is given on the screen of any mismatch between aspect ratios.
I also tried output from a 2mp camera, and while the shots were softer they still look very, very good.
Media (paper and dye-sub ink come bundled) is expensive, about seventeen bucks on average for a 25-pack of 4x6 materials. Interestingly, the paper was much cheaper in Japan (ten clams per pack or so), and I have seen ten-packs on e Bay where the price is as low as seven or eight bucks.
Overall, this printer is ideal if you don't want to have to be connected to your computer to output prints from your digipics. This frees you to do things like bring the camera and printer to parties for instant-gratification output. If you are okay with a stationary printer dependent on the PC, I would go with one of the cheaper Sonys with the same print engine and no LCD display.
Amazing.......2002-09-15
This printer is definetly worth it!1 It prints amzing pictures.
Top quality makes this printer affordable.......2002-08-25
I now have three photo printers, including the HP 1315, which prints 8X10s with great fidelity. But all things considered this is the best photo printer I own.
Why?
The answer lies in the process. The finest commercial printing establishments use dye sublimation printers. These prints are a smoother and more stable. In short it was worth the higher cost of the printer.
What about the printing costs? In a sense it is more economical than ink jet printers. One ribbon per paper pack means no doubt that the printer will properly color the picture because there is always enough dye for each print.
Paper and ribbons are affordable, and the paper comes in several formats, though none is larger than 4X6.

VIEWSONIC N1700W, 17 16:9 HDTV READY LCD MONITOR WITH TV TUNER
Amazon.com Product Description
ViewSonic's NextVision N1700w offers a 17-inch widescreen liquid-crystal display and enhanced viewing with native 1,280 x 768 resolution, more than 450 nits of brightness, and a high 450:1 contrast ratio for dynamic images from any source. Multimedia enhancements include 3:2 pulldown and a 3D digital comb filter that supports both enhanced definition television (EDTV) and HDTV resolution formats.
Unlike LCD televisions optimized only for standard TV viewing, the N1700w lets you view all forms of digital and analog content, including compatibility with HDTV receivers and set top boxes at resolutions of 480p, 720p, and 1080i.
In addition, the N1700w delivers full-screen viewing and picture-in-picture (PIP) capabilities for watching video or TV content while working simultaneously on PC applications. Multiview or POP lets you create up to 9 picture windows on the screen for viewing multiple TV channels at the same time. The TV also features advanced digital de-interlacing and image scaling, high-fidelity audio with a 20-watt integrated speaker system (10 watts x 2), a 181-channel tuner, and a slim-line remote control.
Precision scaling and image processing include a digital 3-D comb filter and 3:2 pulldown correction. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown reversal digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture. The comb filter enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt).
The included TV tuner module offers additional ports to easily add a digital camera, DVD player or gaming console.
What's in the Box
TV, stand, remote control, remote battery, tuner module, a U.S. AC power cord, a Schuko (Europe) power cord, an analog VGA computer-video cable, an AC/DC power adapter, ViewSonic Wizard CD-ROM and quick-start guide, a user's manual, and warranty information.
Customer Reviews:
ViewSonic Lacks Intuitive Controls.......2005-10-19
ViewSonic products are reliable and present sharp images. They are basically computer monitors turned into TV's. If you want to work on your computer and watch TV at the same time, it's a great solution. If you want a TV only, not so good. Controls and menus are not intuitive and quickly become bothersome. The major TV manufacturers have been incorporating consumer input for many years and their operating systems reflect this experience. Better to buy a Sony, Sharp or Samsung.
Not bad but not as good as Samsung and Toshiba.......2004-05-16
I saw this TV in a local store. They have a few model displays. THe sound system is not that good. Picture is really nice. But I'd recommend the Samsung LTN1735 and Toshiba over this one. They just seem more stylish and better. Samsung has HDTV too. Not sure about the Toshiba 17 In or 20" LCD TVs. Spend $20-40 you can get a better one. But this one is not bad, really. Its picture quality is better than Sharp's, in my opinion.
great product at a good price.......2004-03-19
For some reason, it is listed separately as the model N1700W although they are the same monitor. After I ordered this, I found the 3/3 negative reviews on the N1700W listing on amazon, I was worried. However, this is an editor's choice at PC mag on 11/2003, it can't be that bad.
After the order at Amazon, I recieved it from J&R in just two days. Like some other reviewers say, the control buttons on the monitor is too sensitive, but I find the buttons on the remote quite easy to use. So I probably won't need to touch those buttons on the monitor again.
The picture quality is decent. At first, I find the color non-uniform, but it turns out that my video card is not set at the recommended refresh rate of 60 Hz. After that, the image is sharp and clear. As with most other LCDs, only the native resolution (1280x768) works best.
If you are like myself planning to use the DVI output, it doesn't come with the cable. Make sure you order one somewhere.
There is a rebate ending 5/1/04; but it only applies to certain retailers (J&R and others). Check carefully before you purchase. With the rebate, it is priced just a little more than some other 17" LCDs. But with wide-screen, and DVI output, and built-in speakers, and TV turner with PIP and composite video input, you don't find these everyday.
Product Description
Anyone who appreciates a clear design is sure to be excited by the VX715. And its inner values are every bit as attractive as the elegant simplicity of this 17" LCD monitor. Wide viewing angles and high brightness and contrast provide excellent image quality. In addition, the model comes with both analogue and digital inputs. Due to the fast response times, even films and games are shown fluidly. What's more, an easy- to-use on-screen menu allows the convenient adjustment of screen parameters.
Amazon.com Product Description
LCD monitors have become popular both for their small profile and better image quality when compared to traditional CRT monitors. The Vx715 is a sleek, stylish model that delivers a bright, accurate image and plenty of useful features, such as wall-mount compatibility and dual analog RGB and DVI-D inputs.
This 17-inch monitor has a 1,280 x 1,024 maximum resolution and 0.264 mm dot pitch, resulting in crisp, accurate images, while a 450:1 contrast ratio and 300 cd/m2 of brightness make text and graphics easy to see. The 25 ms video response time means that motion graphics are reproduced smoothly, at broadcast quality, making this a perfect choice for gaming, watching DVDs, and more. The 140-degree horizontal and 130-degree vertical viewing angles permit easy viewing from a variety of positions. sRGB color management helps you get accurate screen-to-print colors. You can also easily adjust the monitor's setting with the on-screen display menu.
The AC 100-240V, 50-60Hz power supply consumes only 35 watts of power (maximum) and is TCO'99 and Energy Star compliant. Compatible with both PC and Mac operating platforms, the Vx715 comes backed by a generous three-year warranty.
What's in the Box
Monitor, base, power cable, 15-pin VGA video cable, quick start guide with TCO99 ECO document, ViewSonic Wizard CD-ROM with 15-language user guide

Great monitor.......2005-05-23
I've used flatscreen monitors on my Dell laptop and use a Dell LCD at work. I'm using it at home, replacing a 17" CRT. This monitor is far superior to all these. More vivid colors and as expected a larger actual image compared to the CRT. The viewing angle is much better than the other LCD's I've used. I can view the screen from 45 degrees to the side with minimal loss of image color or clarity. On my laptop, moving just 25-30 degrees to the side and the image is mostly black.
Some reviews have suggested a potential downside is that the height of the stand is not adjustable. However, on my standard computer desk, the height is nearly perfect, and the monitor does tilt through a sufficently broad range in case the desk surface were too low or even tilting down if it were too high.
I'm very pleased with the Viewsonic VX715.
Great monitor at a reasonable price.......2005-02-07
I've been researching and looking at 17" LCD monitors for a month, looking to upgrade from my puny, no-name 15". I'm quite pleased with this little gem. Very easy setup. No dead pixels. I found the adjustment controls much more user-friendly and intuitive than several monitors that were more expensive and didn't necessarily have better picture quality. The white is blindingly true white, not dingy or yellow or washed out, as on many monitors I looked at. Text is crisp and clear, something that's important to me. Colors are rich and vibrant. I feel that the stand is sturdy and stable, and it's the right height for me - not the highest, but definitely higher than some others I'd looked at. And I got it on a one-day only sale price that saved me $50! It doesn't get better than that.
Great Monitor, no complaints.......2004-12-28
I received this monitor for Christmas and I have to say this is the best LCD I have ever seen. It's picture is so crisp and clear, with very brilliant colors. I compared this one in the store with 5 other brands and they don't even come close to the quality of this one. The stand is sturdy, and there are no dead pixels.
ViewSonic is the best.
Poor design, good image quality.......2004-12-25
I bought a VX715 recently and put it on my desk for personal use. I found the monitor stand is too high, and the its height is unadjustable. I have one dead pixel on my screen. I returned it to the store and bought a Sharp LL-172A instead. The height of the Sharp LL-172A is perfect, image quality is equally as good as VX 715, the menu is even more user friendly than View Sonic, response time is even faster, no dead pixel. Sharp LL-172A is even cheaper than VX 715, I won't recommend VX715 to anyone
love this monitor!.......2004-11-07
This monitor is clear, crisp, bright, and looks great on my desk... I like the base that allows the monitor to "float" over the desk, optimizing desk space. A great monitor!
