Amazon.com Product Description
Images and music combine in this easy-to-use portable digital audio player. Toshiba's snazzy, black Gigabeat MEG-F20K packs a 1.8-inch Toshiba hard drive capable of holding 20 GB of digital media: MP3 and WMA compressed audio and even uncompressed, full-resolution WAV files. That's about 5,000 songs (more than 300 complete albums) at 128 kbps MP3, 10,000 songs at 64 kbps WMA, and a still-impressive 550 or so songs (or 38 hours) of CD-resolution WAV files.
A major feature of the player is its bright, crystal-clear, 2.2-inch LCD with 240 x 320 resolution and the ability to render over 65,000 colors. It's there so you can experience the visual as well as the aural component of your entertainment. The Gigabeat lets you download and view album covers, search for your favorite tracks by scrolling through those album covers, or even set a favorite album cover as your background image. You can download any digital still picture from your PC and create custom slideshows, too--and set them to music.
Gigabeat may be versatile, but it's also easy to operate. Its PlusTouch sensor control lets you scroll through its intuitive menus using only a soft touch or pass of your fingertip.
The PC-only Gigabeat is "Plays for Sure"-certified by Microsoft, which means that it will operate with any "Plays for Sure" download site or management software when connected to your PC. Gigabeat is automatically recognized by Windows Media Player 10, so there's no need to install new drivers of any kind. Toshiba has also partnered with Napster to provide Napster's "Napster To Go" software, giving you the option of using Napster To Go, Windows Media Player, and/or the supplied Gigabeat Room management software (Gigabeat Room is required for transfer of photo images).
So what about your CD collection? After all, you'll likely be able to stash the entire thing in here, one way or another. Thanks to a unique feature called CD RipRec, all you have to do is place a CD in your PC and press the CD RipRec button while the Gigabeat is docked in its cradle. CD RipRec will launch the software and transfer compressed audio to your Gigabeat quickly and with no further effort on your part. Using a USB 2.0 connection (cable supplied), CD RipRec can transfer the contents of an entire CD to the Gigabeat in as little as 5 minutes.
If Gigabeat's battery life (up to 16 hours) isn't enough to satisfy your entertainment needs, fret not. Rather than carrying your AC adapter everywhere, simply connect the Gigabeat to any PC with a USB cable and the battery will charge itself again.
Other features include a choice of 10- or 60-second intro scan to help you find a desired song, multilingual support (Japanese, English, French, Chinese, Spanish, and German), and 28 user selectable equalizer settings, and SRS WOW, which simulates surround sound from any two speakers (including headphones).
What's in the Box
Digital music player, an AC power adapter, a power-supply, a docking cradle, a USB cable, headphones, a software CD-ROM (Gigabeat Room management software, CD RipRec, Napster To Go), a user's manual, and warranty information.
Customer Reviews:
AMAZING!!!!!!.......2007-02-01
I just got a toshiba gigabeat F20. it is awesome. the screen is big, the controls take a little getting used to but are awesome. the plus sign control completly beats the iPod click wheel. its software is alright but i kinda hard to use. but who cares?! once you figure it out, its a piece of cake. wonderful mp3 player. i cant find anything wrong with it except that lack of features. no fm radio, no voice recorder, no line out.. but its good anyways.
Aplha prototype sold as real product, with surly inept tech support.......2006-12-09
I will never buy any product from Toshiba ever again. I have two gigabeats (one for me one for s.o.), well now I have one because the other has completely ceased to function. I obviously bought them at the same time because no one would get a second once you've seen these. These are shoddy untested prototypes sold as working models, for example: if you ever let the battery charge run fully out, it forgets what time it is and has to have the time painstakingly reset, and the controls go haywire (in my case any time it needs recharging the button gets stuck on "up" so if I want to do anything at all other than turn the volume up really loud, like play a song for example, I have to put the gigabeat on 'hold' and use the remote to control it - if it can't be done on the remote it can't be done on my gigabeat). The gigabeat room software routinely crashes or freezes in mid transfer, and system monitor shows it using 99% of my CPU when it stalls so it's obviously a bug. To make matters worse Toshiba has made it nearly impossible to contact them in any way about your gigabeat, and when you do speak to someone they are hands down the worst tech support I have ever seen for any product anywhere, both in complete technical incompetence "you should probably reinstall windows if gigabeat room is crashing" to general condescending 'screw the customer' attitude.
Takes time to learn, but great to use.......2006-04-07
Overall I'm extremely happy with buying the toshiba gigabeat. The toshiba gigabeat takes a while to learn how to use, but the flexibility of the device is great and allows a high level of customization.
The player has an amazing amount of flexibility and settings, being able to chooose different screen settings (horizontal/vertical), different wallpaper settings, power up settings/battery settings, play settings, goes on and on. I really enjoy the amount of customization that can go into setting up the device, and being able to show photos is handy as well. I also found the button and menu system easy to use... after learning and messing around with how the system works.
Battery life is fine... once I learned how to set the player to automatically turn off the screen after 40 seconds of non use.
The main problem is simply learning the ins and outs of the device. Once you spend some time with the software guide book and device instruction book, I find the device's functionality to be great (for both transferring music and other files). I don't consider the problem a reason to lower the rating however, because some time spent with the device has provided enough familiarity with the device that using the device has become a simple process.
Many of the device commands are also intuitive and easy to remember after learning how the commands are set up for the device.
Being compatible with the Napster music subscription service helps a lot as well, and it may sound silly but seeing a color screen is rather nifty.
Best toy for the price.......2006-04-06
I've had my Gigabeat for 2 weeks so far. It's heavier than the Ipod, but that makes it feel more solid to me. I'm not a big fan of the controls, but I may need to get used to them. The program isn't as awful as everyone makes it out to be. I wish Media 10 worked with 2.0 uSB, but that is no fault of Toshiba. The nice feature on the program is MusicID, if you have any songs in your library with any missing info, the program finds it and fills it in. There is also a great feature for downloading CD's directly to the player with the press of one button. Put the CD into your computer, press a button on your player's cradle, and in about 2 minutes the CD is on your player. Very Nice, great bang for your buck.
By the way, order the Belkin Portable Music TuneCast II FM Transmitter. I play my Gigabeat through my truck's radio and cleaned out the clutter of all my CD's in my truck.
Great Price, Bad Enterface.......2006-03-22
The Gigabeat is an awesome mp3 player for the price. 20 gigs for $200 is not bad. The program that comes along is akward and confusing to use, but you can use windows media player or my computer to manage the song. The guide for the player is terrible written, it took me 2 days to figure how to get to the main menu to pick a different (hint, press the power button once and it pulls it up). If you use random the songs take a while to pull up sometimes. The earbuds that come with it are ok, but they sit farther out ear, so not as noisy as the iPod. If you are use to the iPod it may take a while to get use to. It is a great buy, and it has serveral ways to charge the mp3 which is neat. I personally feel like it is less likely to get stolen than an iPod. good price, guy it!!!!

Amazon.com Product Description
The RioVolt SP65 portable CD player plays CDs, MP3 CDs, and features a built-in FM radio tuner for media-free listening. The SP65 includes a lighted LCD and provides electronic shock protection (ESP) to guard against skipping during playback--up to 40 seconds of ESP for audio CDs and 120 seconds for MP3 CDs.
Assembling collections on your CD burner gives you the option of storing up to an incredible 24 hours of WMA music on a single CD-R or CD-RW. You also get text display for ID3 title information, showing track and artist information while music plays on its large display.
Electronic shock protection keeps your music flowing smoothly during active use, and you'll likely see around 15 hours of playback time for MP3 files using only two AA batteries (supplied). Four equalization presets, folder navigation, 32-track programmable sequencing, repeat play, and shuffle play modes broaden your listening options.
When the player starts, it fills a memory buffer with track data. The CD stops spinning and the tracks continue to play from memory, which helps conserve battery life. When about 30 seconds of time remains in the buffer, the CD will again spin up and refill the buffer. During this time, if the RioVolt is jarred so that the buffer can't be filled--as when jogging, for instance--then the player may begin to skip. The buffer must be full in order to provide skip-free performance.
What's in the Box
CD player, earphones, two AA batteries, and a user's manual.

good bang for your buck.., for a little while.......2005-04-28
i bought this because i was going overseas for 7 weeks and didn't want to lug all my CDs around. It was great, I made about 10 mp3 mixes, put them in a small wallet and enjoyed endless hours of music on planes, bus, dessert, etc. But that was just for about 3 months. First off, the player skips a lot. And I don't mean when I run with it it skips, i mean when i sleep with it it skips. When it's sitting on the floor while I'm drawing, it skips. (skips for no reason) does this for regular CDs and mp3 mixes. couldn't figure out how to program the radio. takes about a minute to start up and read an mp3 mix. i like the readout and the fact it has 2 headphone jacks (ones a lot louder) so i can share music w/a friend. it eats batteries like i eat chocolate (a lot and very quickly) i like how there are many different features, to repeat, shuffle etc. it's not very reliable though, many times it will randomly turn on or off even when i have the key lock thing locked. anyways it was good while it lasted. i currently have an mp3 player (ipod style but not that cultish) in the mail for me and i'm hoping that works better. i would recommend those if you can afford them. not only are they higher quality sound but also you can ditch your cds (or hide them under your bed) so they're a major space saver. either way though, enjoy what you end up with!

I don't know why anyone would complain about this product. I got it for $30 and it works great. It DOES NOT play WMA for those of you wondering, but I have a program that converts WMA to MP3, so that's no problem for me. It was a little confusing figuring out how to program the FM radio, but I figured it out myself in about 5 minutes. If you're really having trouble you can look online at www.sonicblue.com/support. It gives you all the help you'll need. I'm not sure of how the battery life is other than what the product claims, no problems there. I've already got it hooked up in my car too, and it works in there. The picture makes it appear as if there really are only a few buttons, but the large circle has play/pause/on, forward, back, stop/off buttons that are all multifuncional as well as a special button that enables different play modes as well as the radio. It's not very complicated. So far I love this thing. Get one if they're still only $30
Good for the price.......2004-07-19
I just got this player and found it very easy to use (without even referring to the handbook). It's great being able to play one CD full of about 14 albums in MP3 format. I've not tried other formats yet. The design is very nice and has all the main basic functions. It does seem to last a long time on 2 AA batteries (longer than an ipod ;-)
The sound is OK for the price but I found that it does skip a bit after some time if on the move (unless you hold it carefully). For my use though (listening whilst travelling on the bus and train) I find it just right and the added FM radio is excellent for listening to BBC World service.
I've just sent off for another one for my daughter who is 9 years old and loves the look of it.
WMA... does the SP65 play them or not?.......2004-07-07
The description of the unit's features up top says that it is an MP3/CD player only. The secondary 'in-depth' description says that the unit plays WMA's??? I am confused.
Does THIS specific unit play WMA's too or is it just MP3/CD?

difficult to program, no access to manual.......2004-01-13
Sp65 is difficult to program. Detailed instructions are not included with purchased item, and send you to a web page that is unavailable (www.sonicblue.com/support). I think this is a piece of junk!

Customer Reviews:
good stuff.......2007-04-11
Very good item for the money, my daugthers like it very much. I will like to see a small version that could fit better in kids hands.
Kids Love It but Buyer Beware.......2007-01-18
Bought this item for a Christmas gift for my two girls, ages 8 and 9. We did not open or test the product before Christmas morning. Big mistake. One of the batteries was already dead. When we called the company to find out about getting a new battery, we were told we would have to purchase the new battery ($18.00) since we had purchased the product more than 30 days prior. The battery is only warrantied for 30 days. We were not happy about spending the extra money, but we did and now they work fine. The girls use it when riding their bicycles around the neighborhood and are never further than a block away so we can't really comment on the distance reliability.
These are cool!.......2007-01-02
My son loves these, I have played with them too, awesome sound clarity, way better than I expected. The fact that they are rechargeable , makes them well worth the money!!
Great talkies.......2006-12-30
I ordered these for my nephews for X-mas, although they are still new and they haven't gone to far or different places with them, so far they love them, their easy to use and convenient and the sound quality is great, i actually will be purchasing another set for my self, especially since now they are a tad less expensive than what i paid a month ago. Great gift, actually does what it says it supposed to. Worth the money rather than buying cheaper kid versions that are plastic! Great for adults too!
Not sure what to think.......2006-05-02
Its a cool design and is great for finding someone quickly (assuming they have a two way with them). Can't say that I would buy one again... but for the price and the look, it was well worth the twenty some dollars. I still preffer my 40 channel CB any day

Customer Reviews:
Very Big.......2007-07-01
this looked like a good idea to keep people on our bike rides together if we got separated. However, as soon as they were put on the team captains we all started to laugh. I would never wear this in public. It would be a cool idea if you were alone and wanted someone to talk to (which we did) but the speakers on mine stopped working after two weeks. Thinks twice before buying.
Poor Reception.......2004-10-27
I purchased 3 of these watches to keep track of my sons in the neighborhood. They are not small but rather quite bulky (especially on a 7 year old). The antennea that flips up looks as though it could be easily broken. If my sons attempted to throw a baseball with this watch on I'd be surprised if it stayed on the wrist. My main complaint though is the reception. They worked fine in and around the house but as soon as you walked around the corner the reception faded and within a 1/4 of a mile there was no reception whatasoever.
Absolute Perfection!!!!!.......2004-06-28
This is by far the greatest walkie-talkie ever made! It even surpasses regular ones! I thought the range would be just ok. Once you see the range with the tiny little antenna, you will freak! The range is awesome. If you use the GMRS frequencies without a license, you cannot speak, only hear. But channels 1-14 (the majority) are FRS, which is free. Buy this, trust me!!!!!
Works great for its intended use.......2004-06-25
This is the perfect radio to strap onto you kids when you need to be able to recall them, or just make sure they are doing fine. We use it around the block and camping. Most of the time our higher power radios can reach them far away, but these can not always transmit back. At least they know it is time to come home. These have a great 'COOLNESS' factor and all of the kids want to try it. Have used them for about 2 months and they are still working, that is pretty good. Battery life has been better than I expected, but once it is drained, there is no spare and you are done for the day. Sound quality is also better than I expected out of a small unit, but it is still not as clear as a good Motorola. The kids will have LOTS of fun!
WORKS GREAT- LOOKS COOL- AND THE PRICE IS RIGHT.......2004-04-24
FOR AROUND THE HOUSE OR AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD THIS LITTLE THING WORKS GREAT CAN KEEP TRACK OF THE KIDS WITHOUT THE COST OF A CELL PHONE. THE RANGE IS LIMITED BUT WHEN YOU HAVE TO FIND YOUR KID CAN'T BEAT IT.I WOULD RECOMMEND IT FOR PARENTS WHO KIDS, LIKE MINE, SEEM TO ROAM.IT SEEMS A LITTLE BETTER IN BULKINESS THEN X2X AND MY DAUGHTER DOES NOT MINE WEARING IT. SHE LIKES IT BETTER THAN THE HAND HELD FRS/GMRS RADIO SHE WAS USING
AND SHE WON'T LOOSE IT.ALL THE KIDS AROUND WANT ONE,SEEMS TO BE MADE EXTREMELY WELL TOO. THANK YOU XACT

Tripp Lite PV375.......2007-05-07
I haven't used it a lot yet but purchased it for vacation so my son could run his XBox and TV Monitor to play games. I have tried it charging my video camera on the road and couple of other electrical items and it works great.
Good Product.......2007-04-12
Worked great. Others said you can hear the fan and its really noisey. Barely could hear it and also like others said the radio easily drowns out the sound. Worked well with my HP laptop. Didnt get to try anything else at the same time tho.
Tripp Lite PV375 375-Watt Power Inverter (2 Outlets).......2007-02-03
Works great but it is very noisy.
Exactly what I needed.......2007-01-19
I was looking for an inverter so that I could use my dell laptop on long car trips. This inverter did exactly what I needed with power to spare. The two outlets provide room to power multiple electronics. It has a long power cord, as well, allowing you to place the unit on the floor or possibly behind the front seats. Other people mentioned that it was loud, but I didn't notice it. I had it on the floor w/ the radio turned on low volume.
Good product.......2007-01-09
I bought the Tripp Lite to replace another brand that had failed. The Tripp Lite is ruggedly built, compact, powerful and moderately priced.
The hum of the cooling fan is a little annoying, but I guess that's the trade-off for a feature that will likely prolong the unit's life.
