With 3.2 megapixel resolution and 2-inch LCD screen, you're poised and ready for perfect, instant one-touch shooting wherever, whenever. With a 10 MB built in memory, you can even take movies with sound. The one-touch cradle makes it a snap to download and print pictures. It's so sleek looking, it even doubles as a desktop picture frame for photo slideshows. Imagine all that power in one tiny package. Take the EX-S3 anywhere. It's the smartest fashion accessory you'll ever own.
Amazon.com Product Description
The Casio Exilim EX-S3 digital camera packs a 3.2-megapixel CCD sensor and a large 2.0-inch LCD screen into a body that's only a half-inch thick. Its high-speed startup minimizes the time until the camera is ready to shoot after being turned on and a 0.01 release time lag records the image virtually as soon as you press the shutter release button.
Optics and Resolution
The Exilim EX-S3's 3.2-megapixel CCD image sensor yields a maximum image size of 2048 x 1536 pixels, for print enlargements up to 11 x 14 inches. While the Exilim EX-S3 doesn't have an optical zoom feature, you can get closer to your subject with the 4x digital zoom.
Storage and Transfer
In addition to its 10 MB of built-in memory, the Exilim EX-S3 also supports use of thin, compact Secure Digital (SD) and MultiMedia (MMC) memory cards (not included). An easy operation copies images between a memory card and built-in memory. Images can be downloaded to either a Mac or PC via USB connectivity, which means it can be connected to any USB-based Windows Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 or later computer without installing any software.
Movie Mode
The Exilim EX-S3 captures 320 x 240 resolution video clips (with no sound) at 12 frames per second up to 30 seconds in length. The QuickTime Motion JPEG format offers a limited resolution, which is great for capturing a short movie that can be e-mailed to friends and family, but is no replacement for a true camcorder.
More Features
The Best Shot Mode provides optimum camera setups in an instant. Simply select the sample scene that is similar to the image you want to record, and the camera's exposure compensation, white balance, and other settings are configured accordingly.
With the included cradle, you can connect to your PC or Mac and transfer images easily via USB. The PhotoLoader software automatically transfers all JPEG and AVI files in image memory to the computer. You can also start a slideshow of images currently in the camera's memory.
Other features include:
- Built-in flash with auto, on, off, and red-eye reduction modes.
- Calendar screen provides visual diary of images to help you quickly search and locate the image you want.
- Direct print ability to select Epson printers without the need of transferring images to PC.
Power, Size, and Contents
The camera is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery (included). It measures 3.5 x 2.4 x 0.5 inches and weighs 2.5 ounces. This package includes the Exilim EX-S3 digital camera, battery, AC adapter, dock, USB cable, hand strap, and CD-ROM with imaging software and USB drivers for Windows and Mac.
Customer Reviews:
I love my little gem!.......2007-08-12
I've had this camera for 3 years. I'm not a professional photographer, so it's great for me. Once I learned the settings, the pictures came out great. I especially love the compact size. My only wish is for a faster shutter speed. I recommend this to anyone.
Little Wonder.......2006-05-24
After reading some of the negative reviews on this little technological gem, I felt obligated to write my own review.
I've owned the EX-S3 since 2003 and still take it with me everywhere I go in 2006. I hang in around my neck on a small chain and carry it in my hand at other times. I've taken photos in the rain and it's been with me in 113 degree weather in the Mojave desert. It has never missed a step! As far as optical zoom is concerned, I don't use it. I take the photos into Photoshop and crop them there, no problem. By the way, that photo at the top of the page of the outdoor mall, is mine. It was taken while I was walking. The result is exactly the way it came out of the camera ... no Photoshop, no adjustments. Judge for yourself!
Finally, I'm always suspicious of people who write negative camera reviews and then, in the same breath, mention other cameras and brands they like better. No, I don't work for Casio. Yes, I own other digital camera brands.
It's good but it could be better.......2006-03-04
I bought this camera because, like a lot of people, I hate being burdened by a camera when taking a trip/vacation/outing. And, for that purpose it works great.
So far, this camera has been to Austin, San Antonio, New Orleans (pre-flood), London, New York, Galveston, South Padre Island, San Francisco, Dallas, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Acapulco and on a cruise to destinations like Jamaica and Grand Cayman. Let's face it, this things been around! And through all of that, it has worked flawlessly giving me image after image of wonderful photos, some which even grace my home as photos and many of which are in photo albums.
I challenge those who say their pictures aren't clear or come out terrible. With proper usage, the camera can take excellent pictures. But, if you're looking for something to take wonderful nature photos of beautiful vistas, this isn't the camera for you. This one is for quick pictures, close up, not requiring excessive zoom. This is your "I just spotted someone famous camera and need to take a quick picture".
So, why only 4 stars you ask? Only because it's digital zoom sucks and is probably the single negative trait which is contributing to reviewers claiming it takes bad pictures of poor quality.
excellent camera!.......2005-01-20
The Casio Exilim EX-S3 3MP Digital Camera is a masterpiece.
Consistently awesome photographs when set on the "fine" setting (no pixelated images).
Operating it is a no-brainer even though it has a lot of high-end user adjustable features. The "best shot" feature takes any quesswork out of the picture-taking process.
You will need an additional mmc card (256 Megs recommended).

Excellent, Tiny, Lightweight, Take-Everywhere Dig Cam..........2005-01-17
My overall rating of this tiny digital camera has been positive so far. When buying a digital camera, I basically wanted to focus on shutter speed since my last digital camera, Kodak LS 443's shutter speed was so slow compared to Casio Exilim. I also wanted a lightweight digital camera. I also had a budget in which I didn't want to spend tons of money on a gadget in which will be replaced by a newer higher-tech gadget later on. And wanted a user-friendly digital camera in which I didn't need to carry their manual with me. Here were my reasons for buying this digital camera:
First of all, I bought this camera after my x-bf got his Exilim M2 which I fell in love and had to get my own Casio Exilim. It is such a small digital camera in which I take with me in purse and can snap a quick picture anywhere and anytime.
Second of all, it has a HUGE LCD display which makes it easier to see what your picture will look like when you are trying to center the picture.
Third of all, price of this digital camera was very reasonable compared to other high-end digital camera, like Sony.
Fourt of all, it is such an user-friendly digital camera that I didn't need to read the manual at all.
Lastly, I set my picture resolution to FINE in order to see the best picture quality and I love the fast shutter-speed. Keep up the great work @ Casio. I can't wait for S100 price to go down since that will be my next gadget purchase. It's too bad that Casio is not being sold in a lot of the bigger electronics store but more available online in which case, I bought it from Amazon.com site. I bought this camera last 5/2004 and it still takes excellent pictures. I take a lot of events pictures.

Product Description
The Data Express DE100 is a steel-constructed removable drive enclosure for mounting 3.5 inch form factor, half-height (1.6 inch) or low-profile (1 inch) SCSI or IDE drives into 5.25 inch half-height peripheral bays. All Data Express models feature a front-accessible key lock which secures the carrier within the receiving frame. A variety of DE100 model numbers are available which support Ultra ATA/100 (including ATA/133) and versions that support SCSI Wide Ultra160 applications. Some DE100 carrier models support 80-pin single-connect (SCA) SCSI drive types. Options are available for an enhanced, bus-isolating "hot swap" capability (SCSI models) and/or a solenoid drive lock. Data Express is a product line of drive carriers and receiving frames which are compatible with SCSI or AT/IDE drive types and system interfaces. These modular subsystems house 3.5 inch hard disk or 3.5 inch front-loading tape, floppy, floptical, or optical devices for mounting into any 5.25 inch full or half-height storage drive bay.In operation, the Data Express SCSI receiving frame and certain IDE receiving frames, define the specific address of the drive. The Data Express drive-based carrier does not identify the drive address nor does it provide termination, the drive assumes the identity and characteristics of the receiving frame. Please contact StorCase for additional information. Data Express modules are ruggedly constructed and include a drive carrier lock and a drive activity indicator as standard features. Some family models also provide an ID select indicator and pre-integrated solenoid drive lock and/or fan. Options for an enhanced, bus-isolating capability are also available. Kingston Technology offers the carrier unit for Data Express - steel-constructed removable drive enclosure.

Amazon.com Review
The DGX500AD is the top-of-the-line product in Yamaha's new Portable Grand series. This keyboard is very much like the DGX300AD, with almost all functions available on any other Yamaha keyboard, including the Yamaha Educational suite, 619 voices, and a built-in sequencer and built-in floppy drive. The DGX500AD is different from the DGX300AD in that it has 88 piano-size keys (the same number of keys you find on a real piano), and it comes with a sustain pedal and a keyboard stand. Also like the DGX300AD, the DGX500AD is incredibly easy to use despite its massive functionality--and while the DGX500AD is large in size, it weighs just enough to make it readily portable.
Depending on the preference of the user, the DGX500AD may have a few drawbacks. The keys on the DGX500AD are supposed to be "weighted," meaning that the keys will have the feel of real piano keys. However, I found very little, if any, weight at all to these keys. While the piano-size keys are much nicer to play than more inexpensive synthesizer keys, these keys still did not feel like real piano keys. The quality of the speakers was a bit disappointing as well; the speaker quality on the DGX500AD was better than the DGX300AD, but interestingly enough not as good as the DGX200AD. The sound on this keyboard was not very full and had a kind of tinny and weak quality to it.
Overall, the DGX500AD is a good keyboard for the price. If having all 88 keys is not as important to you, I would recommend going for the DGX300AD, with 76 keys, and if you do not need the built-in floppy drive, you may opt for the DGX200AD, also with 76 keys. --Chris Fresolone
Pros:
- Easy to use
- 88 piano-size keys
- Maximum functionality, including a built-in sequencer and floppy drive
- Includes sustain pedal and keyboard stand (no clearing off desks or tables to make room!)
- Easily connects with a computer or other MIDI device
- 619 voices
- Entertaining educational tools
- A nice-looking instrument, with wood trim
Cons:
- The keys do not have much "weight" to them
- Manageable, but rather large
- Tinny, weak sound quality from the speakers
Customer Reviews:
My refurbished Yamaha DGX-500 broke after 2 months.......2006-03-03
Hello all,
I would be wary about buying a Yamaha DGX-500 from a third party seller from Amazon.
I bought my DGX-500 last summer for about $400. It seemed like a good deal b/c comparable models were at least $200 more. There's a reason that Yamaha no longer offers the DGX-500 and the only ones you can find are refurbished. The keyboard worked fine for 2 months, and I was very happy with it. But one day I turned it on but the keys no longer played any notes. I could turn on the keyboard, I could see the display was working, I could hear music whenever I pushed the demo button, but when I try to press a key nothing happens. I believe there's a connection problem between the keys and the actual keyboard.
Amazon was no help after a month, because I bought the keyboard from a third-party vendor, and they do not take responsibility for their third party vendors. I called Yamaha and they tried to help me out, but they were of no help. I could not reset the keyboard because the keys did not work (If you push the highest key while turning on the keyboard, it's suppose to reset the keyboard and give you a message, but I got no message). Yamaha's warranty was not applicable because the vendor was not an authorized Yamaha dealer.
In retrospect, I wish I had bought the keyboard from a local shop. I would have gladly payed an extra $200 not to have to deal with this hassle.
New Pianist.......2005-02-12
The DGX-500 (purchased via a company on the internet and not via Amazon) was great for the first few months...( even though it never gave the "grand Piano loudness").. until the right bank of speakers began to exhibit 'fuzzy' sounds with each strike of any key .. no matter what voice is used. I've tried 'everything' I can think of to correct the situation, to no avail. I suppose the only alternative is to purchase external speakers? Would this rectify the problem? Please, if you have information to help, let me know. Presently, I'm heading to Radio Shack to talk to them about this and get their input.
Great Product.......2003-10-03
I bought this for my wife. This is most certainly a great product. I do agree however, that the keys are not as weighted as they should be. My wife mentioned that they feel as though they spring back unlike a standard piano.
Great Instrument!!.......2003-06-03
A terrific instrument, pound for pound, than any out there for sale. With 88 keys, educational software, many voices, etc. there's nothing better for the money plus you get Yamaha quality.
Great value.......2003-04-16
I was looking for something I could put in my little apartment and be able to move if and when I had to, and I could afford. My girlfriend/roommate was a music major, and thus very picky about the way an instrument feels and sounds. We had our musical choices narrowed down to this keyboard and a digital piano. After playing this instrument in the store, we decided that for the money, you just can't beat it.
This unit runs about half the price of a digital keyboard, and while I agree that the weighting of the keys is not very significant (hence 4 stars out of 5), the sound I think is outstanding. Not only the grand piano sound, but also a good percentage of the voices (out of 614, of course a few of them are subpar).
On top of all this, the lesson feature is wonderful. I don't know how to play piano or read music or anything, but the lesson feature teaches you how to play any of the 100 songs pre-programmed into the keyboard. I've only had it about 3 days, and I'm learning a lot faster than I would have thought.
So if you're looking for an extremely versatile instrument that won't break your bank, this is definitely for you. If you want something that plays just like a piano, then buy a piano. But I can't recommend this product enough.
