DON'T BUY THIS EMACHINES!!!!.......2005-03-29
This emachines is VERY crash prone. This model is horrible. I purchased in 11/2003 had no problems until 12/2004 when it crashed. Since then it has crashed 2 other times. eMachines does not have good compatibility will all of their files and bundled software. There is also a compatibility issue with iTunes. Service Pack 2 may be causing all of these problems by indtroducing a compatibility issue. I would not recommend installing SP2 on any eMachines computer.
My final reccomendation: Do not buy any eMachines product, since the eMachines computer I purchased before this one (a different model) crashed as I was installing it. I got my money back, but I should have taken that as a sign of things to come.
Beware gamers.......2004-11-22
I have read glowing reviews about this kind of emachine, but obviously not my emachine. I have had to "restore" the operating system 6 times in 9 months, twice in the last two days. Let me redefine the word 'restore." That has nothing to do with the kind of operating system restoration I was ever used to. Using the disks provided with the 2825, you have to wipe the drive clean. Yes, as in reformat, reload, and re-install everything you want to run. Oh, and when you do your updates, don't for any reason, install the new xp service pack or you'll have to re-run everything, all over again. All this so that I can run Half Life 2 - total run time in the past 2 days? One half hour.
By the way, they do offer another kind of restore disk for those who don't mind working with DOS - Since I built my first computer and programmed it in DOS, that didn't scare me. But the disk comes with NO instructions, of course, they will e-mail instructions to you, but it's hard to get e-mail - WHEN YOUR COMPUTER IS DOWN!
But you needn't worry about that, because even after you can get the instructions (on another computer of course), they refuse to help you in any way. The Woman I talked to said "we are not paid to walk you through the process" to use the original restore CD's, and not to complain.
So, this is not a complaint.
However...
it is something for you to consider.
2+ years, still going strong.......2004-08-11
I purchased this machine in November, 2003, and have yet to have any major problems with it. Never has crashed without a reason, usually one of my own doing, and I have never had to use the restore disks. This is not for lack of use or tinkering either.
I use this computer nearly everyday for several hours. Often it will run for about 10 to 15 hours a day, 2 or 3 times a week, rendering video projects. I have also added a PCI TV Tuner card, a 200 GB HDD, and a DVD burner to replace the DVD-ROM drive. The only issue I have had with these additions is a conflict with the TV Tuner's software and a video driver, but this no fault of the machine. I plan to add RAM, a Firewire card, and a dual-head video card in the near future, and anticipate no problems.
Gaming has been a breeze with NVidia's GeForce integrated GPU. It is compatible with practically all but some of the newest released games which require much beefier hardware. I actually had some games that aquired graphical glitches after updating the video driver, but a rollback put everything back to normal.
My only regret is not having researched the MB in advance because I have no way of upgrading the processor without a new MB.
All in all, this has been a great machine for someone who uses their computer more heavily than the average user. I recommend eMachines to my friends and family over all other computer manufactures but one, in which case price usually becomes the deciding factor. I will deffinately buy from eMachines again.
Still great..........2004-03-21
Here is my six month check up for this computer. After 6 months of daily use (6+ hours daily) the computer is still running great. I have burned it in (for anyone who doesnt know that is when you run the cpu for an extended period of time to test the reliability of the computer) and that went wonderfully. High priority for 10 hours and no problems. No hardware problems whatsoever. Pop in a good graphics card (noone should use integrated video GPU's unless you only want to run Microsoft word) and you have yourself an extremely capable machine. The nforce2 chipset motherboard FIC AU31 combined with the AMD Athlon XP 2800+ makes for an extremely quick machine. At 6 months doing great. These new emachines lineup's are really quality computers. The manufacturers involved, FIC, Western Digital (HD), NVidia etc make this a great choice for a powerful cost efficient computer.
Affordable, yet powerful..........2003-11-13
This eMachines T2825 is power packed and breaks away from the general misconception of emachines low quality computers. First off, the case is not flimsy, it is nice and sturdy and very modern looking. The blue halo around the powerbutton is nice. The computer is very powerful, featuring a AMD Athlon XP 2800+ which runs at 2.09GHz. The 2800 moniker means it should run at about intel 2.8GHz. Also has 512mb or 333mhz ddr ram which is supported by the mainboard. The processor's FSB (Front Side Bus) and memory both run at 333mhz giving the computer good throughput. The mother board is an FIC AU31 custom board featuring the nVidia nForce2 Crush18G chipset, giving the T2825 plenty of speed and advanced features such as AGP8x, USB2.0 and Dolby 5.1 sound. The built in graphics are more than good enough for average user and light gamer, however serious graphics people will want to utilize that extra AGP 8x slot. The mother board auto switches over to the agp slot when a card is plugged into it, so you dont need to manually disable the built in GeForce4 MX. I personally recommend BFG video cards. I purchased an Asylum FX 5600 Ultra video card for my emachines T2825 and Play games such as Halo, Medal of Honor:AA, Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Half Life series quite comfortably with amazing graphics detail and speed. Despite emachines past record, this new machine(in my eyes) has redeemed them from a past of failure into a real competitor with a computer I can turn into what I want it to be. I love the machine and plan to buy another emachines for my next computer in between my life of building computers. By the way, if you price out the parts in this emachine, you will see that it is a great value for some quality hardware. Hope this helps any emachines skeptics.

High value desktop packs power for digital photography.......2005-02-04
eMachines (owned by Gateway) has the distinction of having the highest out-of-the box quality rating of any of the major computer brands. (That doesn't mean an individual might not encounter a bad component or computer as did another reviewer, but the chances are smaller with eMachines than with competitors. eMachines suffer fewer major component failures according to PC Magazine's recent reliability poll.)
The T3265 features a reasonably fast processor (Athlon 3200+) and a large 160 GB hard drive, with both a CD drive and a CD/DVD burner. It also has a multiformat flash memory card reader. This is an ideal mid-range Windows computer for a home user doing digital photography. The price point is very favorable. Hard to get more machine for less from anyone else. I've been pleased with this as my main home office Windows XP machine.
The cons:
The T3265 is not quiet. It is definitely loader than a more powerful and more expensive desktop that my wife uses for database management and video editing.
eMachine's service and warranty provisions are less favorable with fewer extended warranty options than available from Gateway (eMachine's parent company), Dell or HP. I have not had to use service and generally do my own hardware work so this was not a major barrier for me. For those who don't like to mess with stuff inside the box it might be a reason to pay extra for the service aspect. I'm getting more reluctant to pay for service (e.g., extended warranties) when so many companies have Asian help desks where workers' accents are a barrier to clear communication. Of the majors, only Gateway has exclusively U.S. based help desk personnel. Therefore, focusing on maximum value for the hardware was my priority and eMachines delivers.
If you want less noise or an extended warranty with U.S. help desk personnel, but similar bang for the hardware buck you might consider Gateway's new BTX case computers with next generation cooling technology and lower noise.
This is a very good computer!.......2004-02-26
I recently came into some money, so I went out to look for a computer. I looked at Dell but they had not alot to offer for my 1000 dollar budget. I went to a local BestBuy and looked, i saw this computer and didnt believe the price! When I found out that it was the real price I imeadiatly bought it. It was such a good deal, I had enough money to get accessories for it! The minute I got home I hooked it all up to my old moniter, and, The thing is so fast and easy to use! It comes with a DVD burner too!!! I say that if you are in the market for a new computer, you need to get the Emachines t3265! It will be well worth the money!
The mouse is Mickey Mouse........2004-01-15
Right out of the box, the factory mouse would not work, no matter what I did. So, I tried a Microsoft Intelimouse; that didn't work either. Then, I tried a Logitec cordless mouse, which worked! I then attempted a drive image of the C drive. I tried to use Memorex CD-RW media, but that didn't work. I then tried CompUSA CD-RW media of the same specifications, and that did work. I hate to think where I would be if I hadn't tried these fixes. This is not inspiring for a brand new computer. My only consolation is that the computer was dirt cheap for what appears to be good features. Nothing else appears to be wrong with it, so far. If you buy it, I hope you have better luck than I did.

eMachine has did a 180 turn around!.......2004-03-03
I'm a computer geek and have always built my own systems. Well this time around I was tired of dealing with the hassle of building and shopping for the best prices on parts that I just wanted to buy one. I did some looking around. This Emachine had the best value and best parts compatibility than any other computer system. eMachine use to be crappy but since they have been bought out by Gateway (supposedly, i was told) and Gateway has changed there ways..the eMachine is looking good. It plays excellent on the DVD's and the games! the motherboard is made by FIC. hard drive is Western Digital and otehr great name brands. this system is like a custom built pc. I did throw a Gforce FX5200 128DDR card in mine..its sweet! works great. the integrated video that comes with this is great too..no need to go out and buy another card if you dont have the money. I would definitely recommend this computer to everyone.
A great buy for the money.......2004-02-19
I purchased this wonderful PC about 3 weeks ago, and let me tell you, it was money well spent. When my old Gateway died, I found that there was nothing I could do to replace the power supply which had failed. Gateway made it a proprietary part, and I would have had to have paid them 200 dollars to replace it. Needless to say, that is an exorbitant amount of money to pay to repair a 4 year old computer.
With that in mind, I went looking for a computer with high quality parts that were replaceable with parts off the shelf. I quickly found out that other pc makers like HP also use proprietary parts, and that their wiring/mobo layouts are atrocious.
I finally saw the EMachines T3025, and its specs were quire impressive. I determined by calling their technical support that all of their parts are end user replaceable, and that they use high quality parts. Some of these are not listed on any of the detailed specs, but some examples where others would cut corners are: The Hard Drive is a Western Digital ATA 133, 7200 RPM, not some cheap knockoff.
The Power Supply is 300 watts, which supplies more than ample power (compare to HPs usual 150 Watts). The Nforce 2 Motherboard, one of the best chipsets, and it takes ddr 333 memory.
Enough of this technical hodgepodge, how does it run? The answer is that it runs amazingly well. Its functionality is great, and its speed is unmatched in its price range. The Athlon 3000+ and the 512 mb of ddr ram make this thing fly. Its sound is excellent, and it is handled by the motherboard. The integrated Ethernet works well, as does the media card reader and USB ports.
Gaming on this PC is good, but I highly recommend an upgrade in that department for serious gaming. I installed a radeon 9600, which helped immensely, and still ended up at 800 dollars. For that price you get a PC that is immensely reliable, upgradeable, and FAST. It is comparable, benchmark wise to a Dimension XPS costing 3 times that much, but Dell also uses proprietary parts.
Emachine's Tech Support is great as well. I called 14 times, and averaged less than 50 seconds on hold each time before a (GASP) Real Human Being picked up.
This computer has earned my highest recommendation for its budget friendly price, quality of parts, upgradeability (standard micro-atx mobo, Atx power supply, 2 GB ram maximum,), blazing performance, and of course, friendly technical support. A 3 year on site warranty is available via Emachines for the low price of 140 dollars as well - less than 1/2 of what Dell and Gateway charge. Buy this computer, and you will not be disappointed.

The price is right. Imagine a high quality PC that's adept at handling all your day-to-day computing needs. One that can zip through cyberspace without slowing down. Picture the sleek T2341. It redefines the word "versatile" with its super-quick processor, available AGP slot, large storage space, loads of memory, Ethernet, a CD-RW drive and convenient front panel ports and jacks. No matter how demanding the task, the T2341 is up to it. And it's value-priced just right for your bank account.

Two Teen Girls Can't Be Wrong.......2005-05-11
I bought 2 of thies systems for both my14 & 15 year old daughters. Then did A foolish thing like hook both them to my cable DSL,they managed to remove all the protection from the bugs and things all over the internet. And in two years I've only had to clean up the systems 1 time for each. There used daily for 6 to 8 hours, and twice on Sunday. Not even 1 little problem related to E Machines, Best choise I've made in A long time. Price is good, tech support is awful & computer doesnt last .......2004-11-07
This is a good, cheap computer if you need one a for a short period of time and have disposable cash to play with. Lasts about a year before you get fatal errors. Restore disks do not restore. OS was lost on the 1st try. My 7 year old is more computer savvy and less bratty than their tech support.
Anyway, got this for my kids as a spare to play games on (athlon xp 2400-should rock right?) & it was s l o w. The SIMS games would come to a grinding halt, LOTR would lock. Had nothing on this computer but a few games and it couldnt handle it. I would not recommend emachines to anyone. They dont stand behind their warranty or products.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent player, though display blanks out if left outside in freezing temps.......2006-10-05
I have had mine for 4 years now, almost always in my car with the cassette adapter kit. It runs fine and sounds great. The remote even still works with the original batteries.
The only 'problem' I have had is that in Wisconsin winters the temperature gets below freezing often, which wrecks the LCD display. So I haven't been able to read the track number, but I don't really care since I'm usually driving. The LCD not working after freezing is normal for LCD displays and is not a fault of the player, just a result of the conditions it is used in. I can still access all the features fine.
I cannot say enough how impressed I am with the anti-skip feature. Hold it in your hand and shake it vigorously and it will not skip while playing! And most of the time it is resting on hard plastic in my car. The only time it skips is when I'm driving over washboard gravel roads.
THE BEST!!!.......2003-02-21
I recommend this Cd Player for you to own. Because there are like.....no cons! And alot of pros! nah, not a piece of junk. Very Very good skip protection! You hit it on the wall, the music still plays without skipping! It is rugged, i've dropped it like 5 times and it works like a charm! I think the volume is pretty loud, (cuz i am hard of hearing, so I don't know if it is loud enough for you guys yeaaaa it's loud) It plays mP3's. Also you know how when sumtimes your friend's cd player is playing in their backback? That's because "it" pushed the play button, well this won't happend to this because after your done, on the side, there is a switch and you slide it over to the "hold" button, now it wont play and you don't have mto worry about your cd player being played when your not knowing it. Up to 28 hours playback with 2 AA batterites. I highly recommend this cd player to ANYONE!!!
Was great at first...but soon couldn't play cd-r's.......2002-11-25
I admit this cd player was great and worth its money at first, lightweight, cool-looking, and it didn't skip. But what I didn't know is that after 3 weeks, when I played my CD-R's I discovered that after about Track 5 it would play fuzzy and scratchy, basically not listenable. Well it was alright as long as I could play Regular cd's, but it was a pain. Ah but months later, I went to play a regualar cd, and it wouldn't play, It said "NO DISK" when there actually was a disk in there. It is now disabled and worthless. I suggest you try something else.
High Infant Mortality Rate.......2002-07-02
Dont' waste your money. I bought this model after the previous model's anti-skip died two weeks after the warranty expired. I've had this about 8 months and it will not longer work with batteries, only external power. If I could give it zero stars I would. Two in a row is enough to convince me Panasonic makes junk and I'll never buy a Panasonic item again!
Great Job Panasonic!!!.......2001-12-17
I have had this item for a few days now and I love it. It does not skip at all and I have hit a lot of bumps to and from my locations. The only problem I have having is that the cassette is sounding scratchy. I cleaned the cassette player and put in another cassette - this cassette did not sound scratchy, but the cassette used to play this item in my car is scratchy. It is a good product other than that. Maybe I need to turn the volume down. :-)
