Don't buy this monitor........2007-03-02
I picked up this monitor over the weekend because my old one died on me and I needed to finish something that day. I went out and selected from whatever was readily available and chose this monitor as it was only one of two CRT models available.
The image is nice for the most part but there are two problems that really bother me:
1. The explorer bar (Windows XP) at the bottom of the screen shifts a little--vertically and horizontally by a few pixels--when you open and close a window. It doesn't prevent the monitor from being usable, but it's really annoying and I've never seen any other monitor do that.
2. The max resolution is 1280 x 1024 as they claim, but the only refresh rate at that resolution is 60Hz and I personally can't stand to look at a screen at 60Hz. 75Hz becomes available if you switch the resolution to 1152 x 864.
I've already ordered a replacement and will be returning this one.

I GOT THIS MONITOR WITH THE EMACHINES T3304 PACKAGE....HERE I AM AT NOT EVEN 2 MONTHS OLD AND THE MONITOR JUST SHUT OFF AND WOULDNT COME BACK ON....LOST ALL POWER FOR NO REASON....
I CONTACTED EMACHINES, THEY WOULD FIX IT, IF I SPENT ABOUT 50.00 OR SO AND PAY TO SHIP IT TO THEM....I SPENT ALMOST $700.00 ON THE SYSTEM, LEAST THEY COULD DO IS PAY FOR THE SHIPPING....

I now have three of these monitors and I am surprised and happy with it's level of quality. My monitor of choice would probably be NEC if the eMachines EVIEW 17F3 weren't around. A great performer that's attractive at an attractive price.

I ordered this product on June 13th, over a week later, i recieved email saying they were on vacation and the item would not be shipped until 27th, Today is July 6th, Still no monitor, Ive contacted seller 3 times since then, and have gotten no response, item has not been shipped, and seller refuses to respond to my emails VERY BAD BUSINESS, DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS PERSON.

this is a monitor that i bought from bestbuy as a combined deal. i have a compaq 17' monitor, and when compared to that this is bad. it causes a strain to your eyes, after a couple of hours. the resolution is bad at the edges. overall if you get it as a package deal fine, but ot worth buying it as a standalone on its own merits

Acquired by Gateway in early 2004, eMachines was founded in 1998 and today remains today one of the largest vendors of desktop PCs sold through U.S. retailers. With this desktop model, eMachines targets users who require speed and versatility but don't need or want to pay for state-of-the-art. Featuring a high-end Pentium 4 processor, tons of storage space and CD and DVD recording capabilities, the eMachines D4362 Desktop PC is a powerful yet affordable computing centerpiece ideal for virtually any office, personal or leisure environment.
Processor
At the heart of any computer lies the CPU (or processor), a massive collection of miniature transistors that governs the speed and power of the entire unit. The eMachines D4362 sports an Intel Pentium 4 CPU operating at a healthy 3.0 GHz and benefiting from Intel's Hyper-Threading technology (Hyper-Threading allows a single CPU system to behave at times as a dual CPU system, thus adding substantially more speed to some high-end applications). This CPU delivers enough oomph for virtually any computing task, though it is prudent to remember that a system's memory and its video card also contribute to overall performance. More on that below.
Memory
Computers typically store information on their hard drive, but they keep frequently and recently accessed data in Random Access Memory (RAM) for faster retrieval. More RAM means more efficient computing, superior multitasking and less strain on your hard drive. For the D4362, eMachines has installed 512 MB of memory. This is an average RAM allotment for a computer of this caliber, allowing the user to run complex applications and engage in demanding multitasking sessions.
Video
CPU's are usually so busy doing basic calculations that they need help translating visual output to the viewing screen. This is the duty of the graphics card (or graphics controller). A graphics controller with "dedicated" video memory is preferable to a controller that "shares" the system's main memory, as it will better handle complex procedures. The eMachines D4362 features an integrated video controller that shares up to 64 MB of the system memory. It is therefore not recommended for those who work primarily with high-end 3D graphics unless they intend to add a dedicated graphics card with at least 128 MB of built-in dedicated video memory.
Display:
eMachines has not included a display screen, thus allowing you to continue using your current monitor or select from today's many alternatives.
Sound
The eMachines D4362 produces stereo and surround sound via an integrated audio chipset. Though not as sophisticated as some standalone audio cards, this integrated chipset is perfectly adequate for most applications.
Hard Drive
At 160 GB, the unit's internal hard drive is substantially smaller than today's state-of-the-art 300 GB-plus monsters, yet it's certainly spacious enough for a massive allotment of files and applications and a comprehensive music, video/photo and multimedia library too. Moreover, this particular hard drive is exceptionally quick at 7200 RPM.
Optical Drive
An optical drive is essential in today's computing world. A "CD-ROM" drive allows you to install CD-based applications and play music CDs. A "CD-RW" drive adds CD "burning", so you can also backup your important files to long-lasting discs and create personalized music CDs. With a DVD-ROM drive you can enjoy all of the above plus watch the same big budget DVD movies you watch on your home entertainment system. And with a DVD-RW drive, you can also "write" home movies to durable discs and archive files to DVD (DVDs boast more than seven times the storage capacity of CDs).
This system features a DVD+/-RW drive through which you can do everything listed above.
Connectivity and Expansion
With a truly grand total of seven high-speed USB 2.0 ports, you'll have plenty of room for plug and play gadgets such as digital cameras and printers. eMachines has also included IEEE 1394 "FireWire" ports (commonly used for fast data transfer from digital camcorders) and a versatile 8-in-1 Digital Media Manager for reading memory cards from devices such as digital cameras, PDAs and more. Communication options include a standard Intel PRO 10/100 Mbps built-in Ethernet adaptor for high-speed Internet and network communication, and a standard 56K data/fax modem for low-speed dial-up connections.

The Panasonic SL-SX290 portable CD player was made for active use, incorporating Panasonic's "No Skip" anti-skip system. "No Skip" construction was designed with rubber bushings to absorb the shock, while a thin and light anti-skip mechanism and anti-skip digital servo system add to the defense. It also boasts a digital-servo recovery system that can detect even a fractional difference in the CD's tracking and quickly recovers before it has a chance to "derail."
The system is bolstered by an improved set of error correction chips together with a 40-second backup memory buffer. When a vertical shock (along the axis of the disc) causes a tracking error, the system plays back music from the memory buffer until correct tracking resumes.
Since the SL-SX290 enables playback of CD-R and CD-RW discs, you can enjoy listening to CDs that you make in addition to conventional audio CDs. Very disappointing, and it all started out so well!.......2004-03-19
I was very impressed with this player at first. It was a bargain, and nice and lightweight. I was thrilled to find that even scratched CDs didn't skip and played well. However, I noticed after about two months (without having used it excessively), the CDs, even new ones, did not read as well as they had done at the start. 4 months later, it will play about 40 seconds of a song, and then the CD will just keep spinning with no sound, and no reading on the display save for the "Sorry" message. I was careful handling the product, and certainly didn't use it 24/7, so I can't understand why it doesn't function properly anymore. Now I have to search for another walkman!
Unexpected Features make this Player a Loser.......2003-12-19
I've had this CD player for over a year now, and it works OK, but I am pretty sick of a few of its unexpected "features", namely: (1) You have the volume on 3 while you listen to a CD. Then, you turn the player off. Then, you turn the player back on, but when it plays again, it plays at volume 13 for no apparent reason. Meanwhile, your ears get an unexpected blast. (2) You insert a new CD into the player and hit the play button. For no apparent reason, the player starts playing track #7 instead of track #1. (3) You play a CD with the bass-boost "off". Then, you turn the player off. Then, you turn the player back on again. You guessed it -- for no apparent reason, the bass-boost is now on.

I purchased this CD player for my daughter. Although the features are fine, I question the durability. She has had it for about a year and it constantly skips and/or does not recognize certain CDs. I plan to return it. I would recommend spending a little more for a quality unit.
Simple and Amazing.......2003-07-20
at first, i was thrilled with this product. my only complaint was that it didn't display the amount of battery left. yet, abruptly one day it just stopped working. if you're looking for a cheap player to last a few trips, this is it. but if you're looking for the real thing, i'd suggest spending a little more money and buying the atrac3 player sony makes
Best basic portable CD player.......2003-06-17
This is a basic portable CD player that features CD-R/RW playability, 35-hour playback on 2 AA batteries (even cheap ones!), 40-second anti-skip system (cannot be turned off, unlike previous basic models from Panasonic), and three-phase equalizer (normal, bass boost, "train"). Of course, you can program the playlist as well as disable accidental button presses. It can play MP3s that are burned into audio CDs on CD-R/RW discs, but not MP3 files directly. No big deal since it's real easy to burn audio CDs anyway. The lid color is blue, and many people think it looks cute, but not overly so.
Solid build quality, excellent sound quality (esp. on good headphones), long battery life, and ease of use make this the best basic CD player out there today. Made in Japan with a great price tag.
