2 out of 5 stars Please read before you buy this.......2007-08-25

In general i guess is ok,
the only problems it has is when you try to print pictures from a memory card it takes like 30 minutes of thinking before it actually shows the pictures in the screen, also i know everybody complains about the ink but in this case i ran out of the 3 color cartridige ink after i used 4 times to print letters in black only and two of then where in draft mode(i din't print a full color picture), after 4 prints thats it i need more ink.

another thing is that it dosen't have a lot of options to choose from.

1 out of 5 stars DON'T PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!!!!!.......2007-08-15

I have been using epson printers for a number of years - I should have read the reviews before I purchased the Epson Stylus CX6000, but I was in a hurry!!!! I am mac based with an intel processor - I have no problems scanning or printing. But I just ran out of ink - magenta and I only purchased this last week. I may have printed 10 color copies at the most. And the product will not let you print even if the ink is low. You have to replace the cartridge before you can print. So, if you are a designer - do not purchase this product!!!!!!!!!!

2 out of 5 stars I know they make their profit on ink, but this is crazy.......2007-08-12

I have purchased several over the years and have always been happy with them. Epson provides good quality printing at a reasonable cost. I bought this one without doing any research because I could always rely on Epson in the past. Big mistake. I'm happy with the printing and copying function. I haven't done much scanning, but I what little I did seems okay for my needs. The problem, as everyone has said, is that the ink levels drop like a stone. The color levels are going done as fast as the black even though I haven't printed any color pictures. I have printed five or six web pages with some color and about 30 pages of black text. All four cartridges are done to 1/4 full. Without some serious attention to this problem by Epson, this will be my last Epson printer.

1 out of 5 stars The most ink thirsty printer I have ever owned. .......2007-07-20

I must say up front that up to this point, I have been very pleased with Epson printers. All have served me well, with a minimum of trouble. For that reason, I have recommended Epson to many people.

However this model, the CX6000, is a totally different story. On the positive side, it runs smooth, as quiet as I would expect from an affordable AIO, and has the right combination of features. The color LCD is nice, which really is a plus for direct photo printing. Draft printing is quite fast and definitely will save ink (very pale - but still dark enough to proof-read). All in all, a nice machine.

But it has one major issue - which I did not know about when I bought this unit. Incredible ink consumption. To date, I have printed some 25 text documents and 2 photos. All cartridges have been replaced at least once, the cyan twice, and the yellow and magenta already show 50% after just a few pages.

Now I understand that you should not run a tank-type printer out of ink, as doing so can do damaged to the print head(s) - so I can understand leaving some ink in the cartridge before you are forced to replace it - but something is wrong here, VERY wrong. Furthermore, if you print black text, the color inks go down like mad. On top of that, when the ink is out - the entire machine halts... you can't even scan.

Epson customer service is useless. Period.

Thinking back to the Epsons I have owned and received excellent service from, I am shaking my head over this fiasco. Do youself a favor and avoid this model, as I don't expect Epson to make "things right" with this nightmare.

3 out of 5 stars My Epson CX6000.......2007-07-19

Well, I just purchased mine today, the installation was pretty easy, and it prints to regular paper fairly nicely. I put in a glossy sheet to print a photo and I was not satisfied with the quality, it came out faded looking and was not vibrant like that I would expect from an inkjet.

2 out of 5 stars Low cost & prints nice but slow, but slow and guzzles ink.......2007-09-07

I used to tell my friends, Polaroid can give you the camera, because they will get you on (the cost of) the film. The same holds for this printer.
Epson did a nice thing for me and allowed me to purchase this printer directly from them for $50 after my laptop and setup was stolen. I still thank them for that and thought I was getting a good deal at first.

I really like Epson's separate ink cartridges, which in theory is a money saving feature and enlightened. However, . . . .

The printer is slow but otherwise works well, scans appropriately, handles my paper fine, and has nice printed output.

The big problem is that ink cartridges simply do not last very long under normal use. They are small in capacity and expensive and time-consuming to replace. I'd rather have big cartridges that last a decent while.

So when I upgrade I'll still likely go with separate cartridges, but try to get a faster machine and one that does not have such a problem with the time and money cost of the ink cartridges.

1 out of 5 stars This printer sucks!.......2007-08-31

I got this printer free with a laptop I purchased. It worked for about a week then all of a sudden my wife tried to print something and the printer errors out. Tried reinstalling the drivers and it tells me about 3/4 of the way through that the driver was not installed properly and was not responding. This will go in the garbage.

1 out of 5 stars Might as well throw your ink and money away........2007-08-08

I purchased this printer despite the reviews on amazon. Silly me, I have the worst luck out of all the cases. I printed out a half page copy, a 4x6 photo, and a 1-page colored website and now my ink is at about 1/8 level and I got a low ink warning.

READ THE REVIEWS. THEY ARE ALL TRUE.

3 out of 5 stars Software installs slow, test cartridges go fast.......2007-06-29

I've installed several of these printers at work and I have found that, in older computers (4-5 years old) it can take up to 30 minutes to install all the software so that the scanner, printer and multi-card reader are recognized properly. You need to be REALLY patient to get this to install correctly - at some point the install would apparently freeze and it was due to a dialog box opening behind the main install window and unless you clicked on the "yes" in that dialog box, the install would stop.

In addition to that, the cartridges that are included with the printer are about 1/3 full. This is apparently a new industry trend so people are forced to purchase new cartridges right away. It does eat ink, as some people have pointed out, but I don't know how this compares to other printers in this price range.

Quality is good - I've always loved those Epson colors and this printer is no different - and the scanner and card reader are a really nice touch for those with small workspaces needing printer, scanner and card reader.

1 out of 5 stars Avoid Epson!!.......2007-06-28

This is the last Epson product i will ever buy! They have serious quality problems, poor designs, customer support is a joke! got this hunk of junk for my daughter, this thing didn't work right out the box... it would not load paper. 2 out of 5 stars Ink sucker.......2007-09-13

Good looking output, and a inexpensive printer...but by the time you keep it fed, it is not inexpensive. The ink ends up costing you more than the money you saved...

3 out of 5 stars good print quality but poor design.......2007-08-07

I had a CX4600 before I was sent a CX4800, which was fortunately covered and replaced under warranty due to the clogging issue many people have covered. I like the print quality of Epson printers, but unfortunately that's overshadowed by poor printer design.

That said, the trick with these printers is twofold:

1. TURN THE PRINTER OFF when you're not using it. Don't leave it on for extended periods of time. This causes the ink to dry out.
2. YOU MUST PRINT and/or run a cleaning cycle at AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH, if not more, to keep the ink from drying up in the waste ink hoses, which is the source of the worst clogs. It's even in the Epson manual, p30: "If you do not use your Epson Stylus CX often, it is a good idea to print a few pages at least once a month to maintain good print quality".

It's a bit involved to repair yourself, but it can be done. Do a Google search for "inkjetprinterhelp" and you'll find a web site that has some comprehensive instruction on how to fix.

Shame on Epson for producing such a poor quality printer design.

5 out of 5 stars This printer is a great buy.......2007-08-07

I have really liked this printer. I don't understand the complaints about photo printing because I think it prints good quality photos. It IS slow, but that isn't important to me. It's frugal on ink, and I like the ability to replace individual color cartridges as they run out.

2 out of 5 stars wouldn't suggest this .......2007-06-30

the scanner works really good...but if you do not use the printer for a while, it says you are out of ink and have to replace the cartridges...not a really good 'all-in-one'!

2 out of 5 stars Printing and ink causes nightmares after frequent use. Scanner is the only quality thing about this product........2007-06-14

I've had this printer for nearly two years. The photo quality prints I did for class were lovely at first, but they started to get streaky and I had to clean the head a lot. The ink is a nightmare and runs out very quickly and is not worth the price to replace! Why is the black cartridge 20 dollars!?! It won't print even if only on color is out.

The copier works great.

The feature I use the most is the scanner and it works wonders! I've used it 400+ times to scan my artwork and other then washing out red tones, most color quirks are very easily fixed in photoshop.

Moving on to my latest nightmare with this though is that it is currently broken. the EPSON help desk was very helpful in walking me through the issue, but it's mechanical. A small, long eraser was caught in the paper tray and caused a paper jam. And now when I try to print, it sounds as though it's feeding paper through but it is not as it continues to printer and leave the inside of my printer COVERED in ink!

If you're looking for an all-in-one, EPSON is not the brand. if you are looking for a scanner, it definitely is and will deliver wonderful scans.

4 out of 5 stars good.......2005-01-03

It's useful, and 256 is a good price i almost paid double that. Anyway I would like to give you some good info on it, if your planning yo put music on it record it manually, yes the sound quality isn't as good, and it takes longer, but... you can have about 5x more music on it, i recorded 5 songs onto a 8mb card.
just some useful info.

4 out of 5 stars Surpassed expectations.......2004-10-31

I had pretty low expectations when I first tried this camera. I had no idea how much it cost as it was a gift. It actually worked pretty well. Picture quality is decent for such a small camera. If you take the time to focus on an object, the picture comes out in focus and with decent color composition.

Plus batter life seemed very good considering you have to use the LCD(no view finder).

Recommended for someone wanting an on-the-go 2nd digital camera for snapshots.

4 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good for its size.......2004-01-08

I would rank its 3 functions in this order: camera, MP3 player, video recorder. Details on each follow:

Camera: As a 2 Megapixel camera, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the pictures. This won't replace a dedicated camera, but as a device you can always have with you, it does a good job. Its primrary limitations are the very short range of the flash (making group photos tougher than you would like) and the lack of zoom (it's a fixed-focal length lens set at a pretty wide angle).

MP3 Player: First the bad news - you have to use the supplied software to upload music to be played. The Jukebox software "locks" your music in an attempt to add some sort of digital rights management. Which means if you already have a large library of encoded music, you still have a slow import process to go through before you can put music on the device. Painful and unnecessary. However, the quality of the playback is good. I wish the cord on the headphones was longer. If you put a large SD card in this, you can have a 512mb MP3 player that is also a decent camera for not much more than a 256mb dedicated MP3 player.

Video recorder: This is pretty nominal. Resolution is fixed at 320x240 with a fixed (no zoom) wide angle lens. And you cannot move very quickly or the image immediately blurs. So it's OK as a quick use item and marginally better than the short video functions on most digital cameras. But don't buy this for its video ability.

Overall pros and cons....

Pros: Great form factor and design. Like the iPod, this is a device you just have to hold in your hands to enjoy fully. It is a pleasure and a delight (it is also smaller than the iPod!). It is really impossible to convey how petite, yet right-sized it is without seeing it in person. Camera is better than you expect and MP3 playback is decent.

Cons: At less then $200, this would be a deal. At current prices, it is slightly steep. Since they only throw in an 8 Mb SD card, count on getting a 128/256 Mb card yourself for photos/music (another $60-120). Or even 512 Mb if you want to do video capture. But be aware that the video mode is pretty nominal. The lack of any optical zoom hurts as well.

Overall, I would recommend to those lookng for a small, all-in-one device. Particularly if you already have invested in SD cards for other devices. Shop around and aim for as close to $250 as possible.

4 out of 5 stars a good cam if small size is important.......2003-12-07

I got this camera about 6 weeks ago. I have heard that the best camera is the one you have with you when you need it. So that would make this a good camera. I take it with me everywhere because it is so small and fits in my pocket. It is no more inconvenient to carry than a cell phone.

A couple problems I have with it are that the lens rotates so you can take a pic of yourself....but the flash does not rotate with the lens. So if you are in a poorly lit area and want to take a pic of yourself, all the benefits of having a rotating lens are lost. This is only a minor problem to me, but I think it is poor design.

The second problem is that the SD card it comes with is small...very small. 8mb. Is that some kind of joke? Most digital cameras come with small memory cards, but they are promoting this thing as a multi function device: camera, camcorder, mp3 player. My Panasonic mp3 player came with a 64mb card, why does this come with only 8mb? It is supposed to be an mp3 player too. They might as well have not included any memory with this camera. I was lucky that I bought it while Panasonic was having a promotion and they sent me a free 128mb card. Which only took about 1 week to arrive, not 6-8 like they said.

I only use the camera function, so I cannot comment on the other functions, but overall I am happy with it. However I would not want this to be my only camera. When I go on a trip or someplace where I know I will be taking a lot of pics I will bring a different camera, as this camera is only 2mp and does not have an optical zoom. If you want a small camera you can carry with you at all times then this one is good. If small size is not the most important thing to you, then you should look at something else.

5 out of 5 stars God toy!.......2003-11-17

Picture quality is just OK for email or memo.
It is not good for print out.
But I always can carry and easily take a photo as memo.

Music player function is very good.
