The Belkin Firewire 800 card is an outstanding product however in the specifications and product description it does not explain that the card is not downward compatible to 400 speed without additional cables or firewire 800 drives which are expensive with limited availability. The product as shipped is not a simple plug and play with most firewire 400 configurations. To use the card you must acquire either a conversion cable or a firewire 800 drive.

Drivers and the Startech 3 port 1383b.......2007-08-11

I am using the card in one of my Windows 2003 servers and found the drivers difficult to install and somewhat out of date so I did some research and found newer drivers for the original manufacture that work fine but are not listed as supporting 2003 server.

Do your research first. You may need to spend more money and get an adapter with better driver support.

I'd Return it if I Could.......2007-02-26

I purchased this to drive an M-Audio Firewire system. It worked for about a week, then went flakey. On reboots, it would look fine, but nothing plugged into it could be seen by their respective drivers. I must have rebooted the PC 20 times trying to figure out where the problem was. I reinstalled the driver at least 3 times, along with the drivers for the M-Audio device. The error I get on the M-Audio driver is #10, driver not started. Same happens when I attach a Sony Video camera--it can't be seen by the software. Clearly, something in the middle is broken.

M-Audio strongly advises users not to Hot Plug their products on Firewire, as it can kill one or both of the devices, even though the standard is explicitly designed for such hot plugging. Apparently, that is what happend. In all the experimenting, powering up the M-Audio after the boot was completed would at least trigger something, at least at first. I'd return it if I still had the box....

DO NOT BUY - NO DRIVERS EXIST.......2006-08-16

Yes, its true. You will get this shiny new card, install it, and then learn that there are no drivers to support the FW800 speeds it boasts. This card is "capable" of doing FW800, but it won't. If you plug in your FW800 devices, they will run at FW400. How did adaptec get away with this? I don't know. Their website says:

No drivers are currently available for this product from Adaptec.
There are a few possible reasons for this:

- The product is supported by embedded drivers that are available in the supported operating systems.

- The product is supported by drivers that are embedded in the product.

- The product was recently introduced and there are no new drivers available

None are true. The OS does not provide drivers for FW800 speeds. The product is not brand new, they have had plenty of time to develop drivers. Adaptec is waiting for Microsoft to support FW800 and "embed" the drivers in the OS. And they won't do drivers themselves because FW800 didn't catch on like they hoped it would. Not enough demand to allocate resources towards driver development.

What a joke, and a waste of money. Don't support Adaptec by buying this product - or any others. This is outright dishonest and shows no ethics on the part of Adaptec. Save your money and stay away from Adaptec. If you don't believe me on the drivers, do some quick research.

It sucks........2007-04-10

I tried twice to get the card to work and nothing. My PC says it's not there.

So I gave up on it for awhile.

Then I upgraded to Windows Vista and thought I'd try again. But then I fnd out ADS offers no Vista support for this card. None. Zilch.

Several other brands do. I wish I'd bought one of them instead.

Excellent Card.......2007-03-15

Welcome to the high speed firewire 800 Mbps world. This is a great card at a resonable price. You need to install the Unibrain drivers to get the full 800 speed. The older ubCore 3.1 drivers caused my machine to crash. I would advise instead to download the new 5.12 drivers from [...], as they are more stable. This is a great card for the price. I would buy it again.

Very pleased.......2005-05-13

After window shopping for 6 months I finally decieded on this Panasonic model. I went with an LCD because of brightness and color saturation of picture. This particular model stood out from the rest in clarity and color of picture. Has two component inputs and HDMI input (very important) which will give optimum picture quality from HD cable or DVD source. Front side composite inputs and earphone jack very handy. Sound quality is very good and handles higher volume levels well with very good bass response. High definition broadcast channels are jaw dropping on this tv and even channels that are not HD, look great. I am extremely happy with the quality. Shop around for cables.. From what I read, Monster cables are unecessary expense and excellent cables can be found for half the price...

Regardless of VIERA or somewhat earlier generation technology - in Panasonic TV you always buy special "traditional" picture quality. In this case the choice of brand is crucial since you're dealing with an LCD, no CRT or plasma. LCD designers world-wide are fumbilng with the problem of shade or tint prominence against the "main" colour aggression. You might not give a damn, but it's shades and tints that render volume to images and depth to planes. They - and the contrast -- determine how much "cinermatic" you will go. Luckily, both aspects are okay here - because it's Panasonic's "warm and soft" colour adjustment and because it's an LCD drive, unbeatable in contrast (which you can tell by your computer monitor). Don't "rape" those contrast and colour saturation levels though - for fear of upsetting the nature.

TC32LX20 Review.......2004-07-10

Our 52" projection TV was dying so we initially replaced it with a 22" Panasonic LCD. It was waaaay too small compared to what we were used to, the picture was fine though. So we decided to return the 22" and go for the 32" TC32LX20. This thing is BEAUTIFUL! The picture quality is fantastic and it has a wide viewing angle, much better than our old projection screen. The TV itself is pleasant to look at even when it's off. :) The only reason I gave it 4 stars is due to the high price. Compared to other LCDs though I think, it's 'reasonable'. A projection LCD would be a good alternative if you want a big screen for much less though they're still not as slim as an LCD or a plasma screen.

Pros:
-Excellent video quality, vibrant colors and wide viewing angle
-Slim for a screen this size, pedestal has a small footprint
-LCDs supposedly have a 15 year lifespan and don't have the same issues plasma and projection TVs have

Cons:
-Very pricey for a TV but worth it if you have the budget for it
-A protection plan is gonna make it even more expensive
-Menus and documenation not as slick as Sony
