Driven by a seriously powerful 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 CPU with 512 KB of Level 2 cache to help you blaze through even the most demanding computations, the system is built for raw speed. Gateway has included a generous 512 MB of fast 333 MHz RAM memory to further assist with multitasking and complex applications. The graphics chipset, an integrated Intel with 64 MB of shared (not dedicated) video memory, is equipped to efficiently run most 3-D tasks, but will have trouble smoothly rendering advanced 3-D games and animation applications.
Featuring a combination CD-RW/DVD drive, the Gateway M350 allows you to record and play audio discs, backup important files and experience your favorite movies. Other important amenities include an adequate 40 GB hard disk, a large 15-inch SXGA+ TFT display capable of an impressively detailed 1400x1050 resolution, and a 6-in-1 card reader for interpreting memory and media cards from high-tech devices such as digital cameras and PDAs.
The Gateway M350 incorporates numerous connectivity and expansion options, including a VGA port for external monitors, a parallel "printer" port, two high-speed USB 2.0 ports, a microphone and headphone jack, and an IEEE 1394 port for high-speed transfers to and from data-rich devices such as video cameras. An integrated V.92 56K Modem offers low-speed Internet and email access, and a 10/100 base-TX Ethernet interface permits high-speed network connections and Internet surfing. And for those times when you can't plug in, the system also features 802.11g wireless capabilities.
Bundled software includes Microsoft's Windows XP Home Edition, Microsoft Works Suite 2003.

I got an M350 about 6 months ago and I haven't had any problems at all. It has great speed, memory, and all around performance. I would recommend this laptop to anyone.
Reliability problems.......2004-04-26
There are many features of this laptop that I like. However, it appears to have some serious reliability problems. In the four months that I've owned it, it has already had to be sent in for repairs twice, once for problems with the wireless card and once for a dead LCD monitor. Although it is covered under warranty, this still means being without it for over a week each time and paying almost $50 each time for the special shipping to send it to Dallas.
I would not buy this laptop again.

I am very happy and want to get my mom a laptop for christmas. I am going to get her this one, just like mine. It is sturdy, great features, and good price. I also think it is a very nice looking laptop that offers the speed and features that I need.
What really matters..........2003-12-02
...is how a company DEALS with a problem when it arises. Anything made by the hands of man can break. The mark of a truly great company is how id handles a sticky situation.
Within the first 15 days (which is explained to EVERY CUSTOMER when they purchase)if anything is wrong, they will give you a new system on the spot if possible. Since the above reviewer's computer broke after that time, her only option was the local service center who OF COURSE does not have laptop parts in stock. No service center does. The important thing is that Gateway has always handled my service with a smile and quoted me less than a week for turn around time. Gateway also has priority warranties that provide loaner systems to clients who cannot be without a computer. As a long time Gateway customer, I am sorry that this person had such a poor experience, but I would ask others to look at the things Gateway DOES offer... Extended and personalized warranty options, LOCAL service centers (neither Dell or Sony has that...) and training for those people that aren't as computer savvy as they would like to be. The 350 series is awesome. Dell can't beat it for quality and speed of components at this price point. GO GATEWAY!

So many of the bad reviews here are by people saying "it didn't work... but when I replaced it with xyz brand DSL router, it worked first time."
If you have ADSL, then this A D S L router should work fine (though it is a bit dated now).
If you have DSL, you need a D S L router.

you need to know what you donig with this one and if you do it works great, if you don't know then leave it alone!!!
Didn't Work Even with Firmware Upgrade.......2003-10-01
If this product had worked the way it was supposed to work (i.e., if it had worked *at all*) it might have been a great choice. As it was, I spent several hours trying to configure it myself, then several more hours with Netgear tech support (avg. wait >30 minutes) trying various ways to troubleshoot it. I upgraded the firmware to their latest version (l.4 release 05). It still didn't work. I called tech support back and after running me through all the same procedures for another hour or so, they concluded I had a defective router. So I sent it back for an exchange, got another one, and the second one failed to work as well. I again spent multiple hours talking to tech support and was transferred to a senior technician, who ultimately concluded the second unit was defective. Incredulous, I called and talked to another senior tech, who concluded that the unit was either defective (in which case I wish I'd saved my luck for the lottery) or simply didn't work with my setup. That was the final diagnosis -- they had no explanation for *why* it didn't work, not even a theory.
So after a grand total of perhaps 6-8 hours of talking with Netgear tech support, my ISP, and my local phone company's tech support, plus a couple weeks of waiting while I exchanged my first unit and waited for email responses from Netgear's senior techs, I finally returned the thing for a refund. I now have an Actiontec DSL gateway that works like a charm.
Maybe Netgear needs to come up with yet another firmware patch? In any case (as the other reviews here indicate as well) I'd hold off buying this particular product until it's clear they have worked out all the bugs.
Upgrade firmware first.......2003-09-25
I would agree that this modem does not work with the firmware that is shipped with the Netgears DG824M modem which was version 1.2, even 1.3 does not work. After upgrading the firmware to 1.4 it started to work. Note you must upgrade in sequence. 1.4 release 5 works great. I have had no problems with all the rich features within the modem after upgrading. I gave it 4 stars because the modem, firewall, wireless, switch, router was all stuck into one box and it worked once it was fully patched. The missing star is because Netgear sold the modem with firmware that was clearly defective.

Tight & smooth sounds.......2007-01-03
R50s are NOT the best speaker set and will NOT outperform far more expensive speakers like some like to claim, but their sonic quality have unique characters that are unusual in starter speaker class such as fairly large sound stage, smooth mid, fairly tight bass. Sound is smooth & relaxing rather than bright & harshly detailed which can be fatigue. Unless you are a fan of boomy sounds, you would be fine without a separate subwoofer speaker though a good sub can be a great help on sources emphasized on bass. On top of these unusual qualities, the look & feel are also great for the price.
Best speaker for the Price!.......2007-01-01
I bought these speakers about 3 months ago. You find a better sounding speaker for a mere $50 bucks. When I first got them I wasn't impressed at all with the sound. They were too bright and the bass was non-existent.
After two weeks of breaking them in the mids and highs mellowed out and the bass really opened up dramatically. Now the sounds is nothing less than amazing. No need for a sub woofer with these bad boys. Everything from Jazz to Hard rock sounds superb. They can handle high volumes with ease. I can crank up the receiver all the way and they don't even have a hint of distortion. I really couldn't be happier. Wonderful speakers at a price that's too good to be true. If you go to the Polk website the list price is $635 for the pair so getting them brand new for $50 bucks is an outrageous deal.
They also look very nice. They have a small footprint so they don't take up a lot of space. They have real wood veneer which looks terrific. The bass port at the bottom is a little funky looking, but you get used to it. Hats off to Mr. Polk for creating a high end speaker at a budget price that the little guy can afford and enjoy.
