GoVideo's VR1940 takes all the convenience of a VCR, mirrors it in a DVD recorder, then dishes up a component with the ability to record to either of the 2 major DVD formats (plus and minus R/RW) and VHS videocassette. The deck can copy VHS tapes to DVD and DVDs to VHS at the touch of a button (except where prohibited by copy-protection technology). For camcorder owners, transferring home movies to DVD has never been easier. A front-panel IEEE 1394 DV input accepts feeds from digital camcorders for easy recording to DVD and for playback on your TV. You get 8-event, 1-month timer recording and you can choose whether to record to tape or disc for each program item.

GoVideo's EZ-Guide simplifies DVD recording, from setup to editing. You can record your favorite television shows and treasured home videos to high-quality, long-lasting DVD+R (write-once) and DVD+RW (rewriteable) discs. The recorder's built-in NTSC TV tuner and onscreen user interface permits up to eight timer recordings over a single month, with five recording speeds providing between 1 and 6 hours of content on each 4.7 GB DVD. The unit automatically creates a new disc title every time you start a new recording. You can then add chapters to these recordings manually or have them automatically inserted at 5- to 30-minute intervals.

DVD+RW media require no finalizing--you can record, eject, and play them with minimal fuss, thanks to "background formatting." This feature, which lowers total burning time, is an advantage over the "dash" formats. Other DVD+RW advantages include on-disc content editing and multisession writing.

DoMiNoFX helps you create better-looking DVDs by digitally improving the input signal using 3 patented processes: TrueScan Pro, TrueView Pro, and PerfectView Pro. A technology called CleanCopy offers one-touch improvement and archiving of your VHS tapes to long-lasting DVDs. CleanCopy automatically enhances picture and sound quality for keeping your memories vivid.

The VR1940 is a first-rate DVD player, too. Movie fans will love GoVideo's AutoPlay DVD feature, which automatically skips ads, movie trailers, and disc menus, jumping right to the start of the main attraction. Simply place the disc in the tray, press the play key, and the movie will start without interruption. YourDVD, another GoVideo exclusive, simplifies your DVD player use by permanently storing the set-up preferences that--on most DVD players--need to be checked or unchecked every time you load a new DVD.

Other features include progressive-scan video outputs and support for MP3 and JPEG CDs. A variety of video and audio inputs--including front-panel connections for fast, temporary hookups--grant connection to virtually all televisions and home theater components. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

And, unlike all other DVD/VCR combination products, the VR1940 will connect to your television and deliver DVD or VHS signals using any of its available video connections, including S-video and component-/progressive-scan video outputs. I recently orderd the dvd recorder box. I found the prouduct in great conditon despite fedex's handling methods! The instructions were easy to read and the box is easy to understand how to use it, with step by step instructions even those who are not good with electrical devices, I found this one amazingly simple. The downfall is To record dvd to vhs is difficutl because of the "protected materal" lable. Movies I had recorded from a dual vhs I couldnt record on to dvd.I was able to recored not protcted content off of a dvd to a vhs. I couldnt record it then on to a blank dvd. I didnt see a format listed anyware on the instructons guide for what dvd I should be using, like R-w or some other type, over all despite that everything is good.

Don't buy this machine!!!!!.......2006-05-25

This is the worst and most expensive DVD player I've bought. I wanted the DVD recorder. Shortly after the warranty period ended the problems began. The DVD door sticks. The remote works sporadically. The record timer shuts off early. And just to add insult to injury the DVD locks up now. No more Go Video machines for me!

Terrible machine.......2005-12-24

Please do not purchase this machine, it has numerous bugs and glitches. The errors I've found:
1. If you hit 'stop' on a DVD it marks the stop. (which is great if you turn it off and turn it on..it knows where to pick back up). Unfortunately EVERY time it restarts and hits the marked stop it will skip back to the beginning of that chapter.
2. Repeatedly the DVD selection screen will lockup. It shows the command menu but not the curser. Ejecting and reloading the disc solves the problem.
3. The remote is remarkably cheap and poorly made.

All told this machine is not worth your money. Purchase any other company's recorder instead.

Buyer Beware!!! (no stars, really).......2005-09-24

Although I purchased a different unit, the GoVideo 8440 Portable DVD Player, it played exactly 6 movies before dying. GoVideo replaced it with a refurbished model, which arrived in non-working condition. I received a THIRD replacement unit (new)from GoVideo, which failed within minutes out of the box. Please note that I have since discovered that GoVideo Inc. is NOT a member of the Better Business Bureau of Central/Northern Arizona and has MULTIPLE complaints against the company. Purchase at your own risk!!

Buggy Product.......2005-05-29

Have now returned my second unit...this time for a refund.
Unit 1: DVD did not work
Unit 2: Recording from camcorder i.link worked about 80% of the time. When I stopped the recording the unit froze and I would have to re-record the section. Of course the available recording time of the DVD disk was reduced like the item was recorded. After numerous times I got tired of this and sent the unit back. Additionally, I would add titles to the thumbnails and lock them, then they would disappear.

E-mailed Govideo customer service and got no response.

this is the best camera!!!!!! it is SO cool. The pics aren't very big but their SO clear!!!!! it is so great to just be able to develop it right on the spot! also, with the new sticky film and fortune film it makes the already incredibly fun camera into the MAXIMUM fun camera!!!!!! I RECCOMEND THIS ITEM TO ANYBODY!

This cradle works exactly as advertised. It fits well into the cradle, hotsyncs with a push of the button on the front just as it should.

As for charging, it says all over the box that it will charge your Treo 600 if you plug the phones AC charger (not included) into the connector on the cradle cable. In other words, it doesn't come with the AC adapter, you must take the one that came with your phone and connect it to the cradle cable. That being said, it charges my phone perfectly and hotsyncs like a champ.

I also bought it so that while it's charging at my desk, I can still see/read the screen since it holds the phone upright instead of laying on the desk. This also makes using the phone's speakerphone a pleasure as it charges and holds the phone in a good position at the same time.

Its amazing how crappy this piece of equipment is. The HotSync function works intermittently, charge function never worked for me.
The cable that comes with a travel charger does both without fail everytime.
