Hanns 19" LCD Monitor.......2007-07-19
I purchased a new Hanns 19"monitor after 3 years with my Sharp 17" LCD
I was excited about getting it but was not happy with it when it arrived.
The sharpness of the picture quality was not what I expected, Blurred words and not sharp and clear as others I have seen or the sharp I had.
This coud be due to the old computer I have and not being able to connect the Video Input cable on it. Not sure. I have a new state of the art Dell
coming and hope it will provide bettr results. As far as everything else great deal on Amazon for the 19" monitor.

my damn order got canceled, then my bank account was missing the exact amount that the monitor cost for over a week. i finally got my money back after they had CLAIMED that my credit card wasn't charged. overall i love the product, not a single dead pixel, bright as hell. so bright i turned it down to 50% and its STILL brighter than either of my ctr monitors

I traded up from a 17" flat screen that had developed serious display problems. This Hanns-G is fantastic. No problems with set-up. Beautiful picture quality. I am very satisfied with the purchase and would recommend the unit to anyone.

Has Poweroff issue, not responsive customer service.......2007-04-10
The monitor works fine for a few months. Then the image will disappear when the computer is back from the XP powersave mode. We have to turn off the monitor and turn it on again to restore the image. It gets worse recently, now we have to do this 3-4 times. Called their customer service, waited for 30 mins still no responses. Terrible.

I just today took delivery of a Hanns-G HannStar Display HC194. I bought another one of them last week, and I liked it so well, I ordered another one this week for my wife. Unfortunately, the one that was delivered today has one bad pixel right in the MIDDLE of the screen, where you can't help but notice it. I immediately called Hanns-G customer support, and they told me that they would not do anything about it, because "industry standard" allows them to have bad pixels, as long as there are not enough to violate that "industry standard". The Mfg. warranty that came in the box states, "Your display has been inspected and is in compliance with the manufacturer's specifications, indicating that any pixel defects do not effect the operation or use of your monitor." That means to me that they deliberately shipped this monitor knowing that it had a bad pixel, and whichever poor, unsuspecting shmuck that bought it (in this case being me) was going to be SOL. To say the least, I am one unhappy customer. A brand new 19" LCD monitor that has a defect from day one, and in fact, before it even left the Hanns-G factory. You know, if I looked at a brand new car and it had a dent right in the middle of the hood, it also "would not effect the the operation or use" of that car either, but then I would have the option NOT to buy the defective car. Do yourself a favor. Don't buy a Hanns-G LCD monitor, and buy whichever LCD monitor you want from a brick-and-mortar store where you can plug it in and check the screen for bad pixels before you buy it! Looks like I have now made my last purchase of any Hanns-G product.

Great deal for the price. Bright, beautiful, fast and no dead pixels. Also works great with Linux; just comment out the "HSYNC" and "VSYNC" lines, and X will read the specs from the monitor. Only complaint is the weak speakers, but that's easily solved by using external ones.

Just picked up this monitor a week ago to replace a 17 inch Viewsonic E90f CRT.
The price was right, so I figured I'd go for it, though I had a little trepidation in that I'd never really heard of HannsG.
This monitor is fine. I'm quite pleased with it. It's got a big viewing area, the pictures are crisp and clear, and the text is quite readable. It DOES take some fiddling with the buttons... It was a tad too bright for me, and I hooked it up with the included DVI cable, but it was set as a default on VGA mode, which made pure black web page backgrounds have blue dots on them. Once I set the monitor to DVI mode, I was golden.
I have two pixels on it that aren't exactly dead but don't always represent color correctly (though they're hardly annoying) and that's the main reason I'm giving this four stars.
I am currently using it on a Linux from Scratch operating system, and I was quite surprised (and REALLY pleased) that basic Xorg settings (in fact, the same ones I was using for my smaller CRT) worked beautifull with this monitor. A teeny bit of tweaking, and I was golden.
I got this monitor for under $140. Can't beat that with a stick. I would have paid more for it, honestly.

A big improvement over the old CRT monitor.......2007-06-07
This monitor was very easy to install and worked from the start. No adjustments to the display were necessary. The built in speakers are good, but even at maximum volume they are on the verge of not being loud enough. The instructions tell you to insert the enclosed CD in the disc drive after the operating system loads. I thought it might install drivers, but it contains only a new version of Adobe Acrobat Reader and manuals for the monitor in various languages. You could skip this part until you need the manual, but the printed manual pretty well covers the same material very adequately. This new monitor has made using our older computer a much better experience. The price made it a good value, too.

After installation per instuctions (minimal), I had no sound.
All connections checked
No sound. All mb drivers reinstalled. No sound.
I reinstalled windows xp pro, with this as the monitor.
There was a faint 'tinny' sound, but audible sound was vurtually gone.
No help. No instructions. No drivers included. Not even a website listed.
They did give you a pamphlet (1 page... yes one page dedicated to English) and cd with an Adobe update on it,
so you can read the manual that offers nothing that the onscreen menu doesn't offer.
The picture's good.

EXCELLENT MONITER, EXCELLENT PRICE........2007-05-17
This monitor blows doors. I bought this monitor specifically for gaming because of it's super fast 2ms response time and its size. No complaints so far. Very vivid color's and nice and bright, plus no dead pixels. Some people have mentioned light bleeds in the corners of the monitor, I myself haven't noticed any. I currently have it connected through DVI and the quality is top notch. Bottom line, the monitor works superbly for gaming as well as regular applications.

I have been putting off buying an LCD monitor until I saw the price, 8 ms response and the three year warranty. Received it much faster than I expected and have been extremely happy with it. Came with the VGA and DVI cables but don't have a DVI card installed which will be my next purchase. The colors are fantastic with clear pictures. No dead pixels which seems to be normal with other brands. Can't go wrong with this one.

Forget about the built in speakers for quality sound, buy yourself a quality set of speakers.

Quality LCD Monitor.......2001-05-30
The first 15" LCD Monitor I bought from Amazon was cheaper and not a name brand. After trying it for a week and never getting it adjusted to my satisfaction, they allowed me to return it and get a different one. I went with Philips because it was a trusted brand and I found out you get what you pay for! This monitor was easy to set up and once I got it hooked up it gave me an incredible display. Spend a little more for a Philips, its worth it!
