Don't get these color machines. Same with a color 3500. 50.9 fuser errors. had to replace 2 fusers in less than 2 months.

My company purchased this printer and we have had constant problems with "50.9 Fuser Error". We run about 1500 impressions a week and this unit can't keep up.

DVD player sales are at 10 million units and counting. If you've yet to discover the best way ever to view movies at home because you're intimidated by price or by the complex features you may have read about on some models, your wait may be over. Philips has designed a terrific machine called the DVD701AT that we found to be nearly perfect for the first-time buyer.
Setting up the DVD701AT is an exceptionally straightforward task, thanks to Philips's intuitive OSD (onscreen display), clearly written owner's manual, and simple yet effective remote control. Even novice users should be hooked up, adjusted, and watching movies within a short span of time.
Philips offers a nice array of cabling options. Video connections may be made by either composite or S-video cables (see the FAQ for tips), while coaxial and optical digital audio outputs are available (use coaxial if you can for the best sound). Additionally, the unit also includes analog stereo audio outputs. Note, however, that the DVD701AT does not offer a headphone jack.
If you're looking for a single player for multiple formats, the DVD701AT will do that too. It plays DVD-video, audio CDs, Video CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs.
We like simple remote controls and found the one here to be a winner. Small and clutter free, this unit even highlights the OSD buttons with small icons, so with the touch of one of four buttons you can change subtitles, language tracks, camera angle, or titles and chapters--a very cool touch!
The DVD701AT's picture and sound quality are excellent, certainly among the best we've seen in this price range. Color balance, detail, and clarity are so far above VHS that it's no contest. The sound quality is very good too, with a slight overall warmth being added to music discs and movie soundtracks. Although a simulated surround feature is included, it's not particularly effective and should be but a steppingstone to true surround sound, or used in situations where more than two speakers is impractical.
The Philips DVD701AT is a very nice achievement. It's easy to use and works very well. We recommend this player as a great way to get into the DVD format. And it's price is so reasonable that you'll even have money left over to start your DVD library. --Wayne Garcia

I bought this DVD player... and have to say I love it. I've used it almost everyday and have not had one problem with it and have even compared it to some other, more expensive DVD players that friends have and have to say, if you don't mind the lack of a DTS digital decoder for sound (has digital sound output, but no decoder) or a component output (S-Video & composite outputs only on this model) then you'll be very happy with this one.
The greatest feature is the 4 disc resume play function, which means you can stop a DVD take it out play up to 3 other DVD's, then put the original DVD back in and the player gives you the option of starting the movie from the point you stopped it from before.
Alot of my friends don't have this function on their player and they all wish they did. Regardless which brand you buy, be sure to look for the resume play feature. It's very useful if you don't have time to finish an entire movie in one sitting or if you get interrupted during a film and have to stop it.
Also, this model plays CD's & CDR's which is nice if you have a cd burner and make your own cd's.
Broke within 1 month.......2001-11-04
I had problems with this machine almost from the start.First started malfunctioning within the first month, by the 2nd month stopped working entirely.It started with it shuting off the dvd in the middle of it playing and ended when it shut down a dvd and then makes a little noise and there is no response to any buttons pushed. Have to hassle with shipping for repairs now. Shipping electronic products may be the problem instead of the product itself I dont know for sure but my past experiences with UPS has been horrific, They seem to go out of their way to try and destroy their shipments.

It didn't have some of the addition features that are often seen on more expensive models, but for the price I paid, I wasn't expecting any. It is pretty much exactly as I was expecting - a DVD player for a decent price that works. I have been using it pretty regularly for a few months now and have yet to come across any problems. Unless your willing to spend extra for some extra features, I reccomend this player.
